I am sick - fortunately NOT with COVID but I ordered vegetable rolls and even call to make sure these would be sent with Chinese mustard. Order came quickly but not a single packet of mustard. When I called to see if they would make it right they told me because I used Yelp it wasn't there driver and "they are sorry". Ever been really sick and craving something. Best Chinese food in town WORST customer service! drive a good 5 miles to get there. I mostly walk in and order, today I called my order in, I asked for an order of beef and broccoli and instead of steamed rice I asked them to substitute it with pork fried rice and I would pay the $2.50 difference, whichI always pay. The guys response was "you need buy full order of pork fried rice $7.50" when I said you always accommodate my request he denied and hang up after I said "by doing so you will lose customers". Took off a star as I noticed the 2 items I ordered were both $1.00 more expensive than what it stated on the menu. When I asked they said they had to raise prices. Awesome little hole in the wall Chinese gem! Very casual table service or take out. Great Cantonese Chinese food that isn't as Americanized as panda yet isn't the most authentic either but it reminds me of Chinese take out places in the big metropolitan areas (think chow neon, fried rice, common dishes) - good stuff! Really friendly owner as well. Super fast service too. They have TVs in their dining area as well too plus plenty of parking. I will be back! Came to the restaurant at 8:50 p for dinner on Saturday, the waitress refused to serve us because she said they usually close at 9 p. The sign on the front door and yelp say 9:30p. I pointed this out to her and she went to the kitchen to ask the cook if we could be seating and he said it was fine, then she proceeded to tell me that it would be okay this time but that it's a one time allowance. I am on the fence about this place. Their food is pretty good but I feel they cheat their customers in a not very noticeable way. Here is why: Couple weeks ago I ordered their $5 orange chicken combo special to go. She told me $5.50. Since the sales tax is 9%, not 10%, I confronted her and said, "isn't tax 9%? So shouldn't the total be $5.45?" I mean, it's very easy math. Her response to me was unsatisfactory; it almost seemed like "oops, busted!" - she said "my manager told me to charge $5.50." Whatever. Anyway, I told her I would give her $5.45 because the sales tax is 9%. It's the principles for me, guys. So, I debated whether I should still give them my business given this "incident". I thought, okay, fine, I'll still go; I'll just pay attention to the bills. So, just yesterday I went there during their "Lunch Express" hours (11 a.m. to 4 p.m.). On their take-home menu, some items are listed as $6, and some $7. However, when I looked at their in-restaurant menu (I dined in), they were listed as $5.99 and $6.99. Wei-rrr-d!!! Why the discrepancies I don't know, but I just thought it was sneaky and shady. So, I ordered a $5.99/$6 item and a $6.99/$7 item. Either way, with taxes, the total should be $14.15 or $14.17. But, on the receipt, it says $14.20. I know it's just a couple pennies and it's not that I'm cheap. But I just feel they are very unethical and cheating their customers. One customer is one thing (still unethical); but they do that padding on every customer that gives them business, the amounts can add up quickly. read more

Okay, this review isn't really for the establishment itself, but purely for the food. The reason being is that I have never stepped foot inside of this place, but have ordered so much from there that when we call, they now recognize us by voice, and already know our address by heart. I can honestly say that I have yet to get a bad item from the menu, and even now as I think about their orange chicken, a tinge of drool is pooling behind my lower lip. I've eaten at many Chinese restaurants throughout L.A. county, and what makes Wok Master stand out is the simplicity and robustness of the flavors, not to mention the lunch express specials. The only thing I could say on the negative tip would be that the chow mein noodles are a tad on the greasy side, so if you're a purist (gourmand here, sorry), then ignore my hype and hit the Plum Tree in downtown L.A. If you're in the mood for some intense deliciousness, however, don't hesitate to head here. The pork fried rice alone is definitely worth the trip! read more

Ok so I have mixed feelings about this place. I was urged by a co-worker to try this place because she said it's better than Go China in Pasadena. While I love Go China, I can stray from a love once in a while, right? So I decided to try this place. I HAD to try the orange chicken because it's $4.99 and it includes soup (hot & sour or egg drop) and an egg roll, and your choice of fried rice, rice or chow mein. The fried rice they give you is not just your crap fried rice either. The orange chicken itself is quite good and they give you plenty. Enough that you can have a second lunch. I had this dish the 2nd time around as well, but it wasn't the same as the first time because it wasn't as hot (temperature-wise). Things to avoid: the egg roll. The hot & sour soup. read more

Wow, this chinese restaurant is busy with many to-go orders for a reason! For a while now, I've had a wonton soup craving because a friend of mine had been messaging me about how delicious the wonton soups are on the east coast. When I mentioned my wonton soup craving in passing to a coworker, they recommended trying Wok Master. Once inside, it's a nice comfortable atmosphere. If you're dining, just sit anywhere. If you're ordering to-go, just walk up to the counter and place your order. I went there for the first time today and ordered their Curry Chicken "Lunch Express" and instead of their Soup of the day, I ordered a bowl of Wonton Soup. While it took a while for me to get my food (because of all the other to-go orders), it was well worth the wait. Their wonton soup came with wonton, chinese cabbage, bamboo, water chesnuts, carrots, peas and green onions! I was so happy eating it, I burned my tongue, hehe! Then my Curry Chicken came. The chicken was delightfully tender and flavorful. The curry sauce wasn't too spicy either, it was really yummy! Fortunately for me, I ordered it with steamed rice rather than fried rice or chow mien so I could enjoy the full flavor of my curry chicken. Overall I was really pleased with my lunch. I will definitely go again.. :) 03/15/07 - update Tried their Family combo Dinner today. It was a $22 for 2 entrees (+$3 for each seafood or specialty entree), soup, rice, 4 egg roll, and fortune cookie. It is very much like the Lunch Special but in dinner portions. Ehhhhhhh. I thought the Orange chicken was good but my boyfriend said it wasn't very "orangey". The Kung-Pao shrimp was just mediocre at best, not very spicy & it kind of lacked the "Pao" if you know what I mean. My diet coke tasted like root beer, I asked the waitress if they had root beer and if the lines were maybe crossed, she said no. I have no idea why my diet coke tasted like that. I've had a diet coke or two in my life so I know what they taste like. I'll order the Orange chicken again since it's close by. Diet coke, er, root beer, maybe not so much. read more

Very delicious food, wonderful service, and very good safety precautions taken. We ordered takeout in person and the gentleman brought our food to our car after only about 15 minutes! This place is terrible! I ordered the house crispy noodles (with shrimp, beef, chicken and veggies), fried rice and egg rolls. It took nearly an hour and a half to get my food and when I opened up the noodles, they didn't include the sauce! All I had was a take out box full of dry fried noodles. I called the lady back who said that she could send the food back out, but she didn't know how long it would take to get there. Considering it took them that long to get the food over here, I told her that I would rather just have my money back. She said that she would have the manager call me back and I never heard from them again. They didn't even attempt to make my order right. Plus the fried rice sucked. I'm over this place and would rather walk to Panda Express. At least you know what you're getting there. read more

Please do not eat anything from wok master. I have once found hair in my food but gave them a second chance since accidents happen. Just last week on 10/5/16, I ordered a wonton soup and found a small bug in my food. I contacted the restaurant to inform them and ask for a credit. The person answering the phone didn't apologize and states " what do you want me to do". I informed him that I want a credit but he was careless and states that we will take care of it tonight. I kept calling since 10/5/16 and noting has been done about it. I am going to contact the health department and show the picture of my soup. My friend and I were looking for something good and cheap yesterday. What caught our attention was the sign saying about the 5$ orange chiken bowl. My friend and I were like why not? We walked in the staff was very friendly. There wasn't a lot of people since it was a thursday night. We both ordered the orange chicken bowl which was made up of: orange chikcen, white steamed rice and an egg roll. If not for yelp, I would not know about this place. It's located inside a strip mall next to subway. I did not see any signs but the restaurant was easy to find. Service was very quick. We sat down, ordered and our food started arriving 5 minutes later. The wonton soup arrived hot and tasted how comfort should taste like. The vegetables were crisp and the broth had simple yet satisfying flavor. Wontons were pre-made kind so I'm not going to comment further on that. I ordered a bowl but the portion was good enough to share for 2-3 people as a starter. For entrée, BF and I shared orange chicken and shrimp fried rice. Usually, I'm not a big fan of orange chicken because it tends to be too sweet so I was pleasantly surprised to find that the sweetness was a lot more subtle than what is commonly served at fast food Chinese restaurants. There was also a gentle heat that balanced out the flavor. The shrimp fried rice decent. It was seasoned lightly and had generous portion of medium sized plump shrimps. Overall, the meal was not spectacular but I highly enjoyed the meal.
