Consistency and yummy food are the reasons we keep coming back. It's one of our go-to spots for work lunches. We usually order their lunch specials or fried rice, and the taste has consistently been delicious, along with the service being great. Don't forget to say hi to Tommy, he's the best!

Went there for our church gathering about 50 people with kids, they are so nice! The food was very fast, we didn't wait that long for this big of a party. We ordered the fried rice, fried noodle, orange beef (the best!), Kung Pao chicken, walnut shrimp (crunchy and tasty), Chinese broccoli (very soft yummy!), pork chop (delicious!) We enjoyed it very much, I'd recommend this place to anyone whether small/large family gathering, office events, or just regular hang out. Check it out

2/01/2025: Our first visit to this charming, unassuming local Mandarin & Szechuan restaurant in Pasadena, and it will definitely not be our last. First, let me start by saying how we chose this restaurant for our dinner. We don't currently live in the area, however my husband was born and raised in Altadena and still owns the family home. Today was our first opportunity to come and see the home and surrounding neighborhoods after the Eaton fire. Absolutely heartbreaking, but hopefully everyone will be able to rebuild and remain #AltadenaStrong . I did some research to find a local restaurant to patronize and support while in the area, and saw a post from someone who said that the owners of GoChina had been generously supporting the local fire victims and first responders. GoChina drove up to a road closure at Lake & New York with prepared, packaged hot meals and gave them to be passed out to any and all who were behind the closure lines... they rolled up their sleeves and did the very best thing they could do to help the community, and I encourage everyone to reciprocate and patronize them in return!! They have a fantastic menu, this isn't a "basic Chinese joint". We honestly didn't know what to expect, but we were greeted so warmly by owner Joanna (I hope I'm spelling it correctly?) and seated. The restaurant is immaculate. The tables, chairs and booths are clean. The decor is simple, but nice and creates great ambiance. The cashier station looks like a warm and friendly bar, and they do have beer and wine options available. Between Joanna and Yenni, our orders were taken and our food was brought to the table with minimal wait time. These ladies were both SO friendly and engaging, even though they were busy. They have hustle! I saw no less than 10 bags lined up for take out orders being staged whenever the kitchen doors swung open. They introduced themselves and asked us our names. How often to you experience that these days? Tommy was also very friendly and came to check on us throughout the meal and thanked us for our patronage as we left. Now for the food review... deeelicious! We started with their "Signature" Indonesian Fried Rice. Well seasoned and has just a whisper of heat. I'm not always a big fried rice person because it can be bland, but this was exceptional! Each protein was cooked perfectly and were moist bites.. no diced meat nuggets like you find at some places. We recommend it! Their Combination Chow Fun was savory, the wide noodles were delightfully chewy, again the proteins were plentiful and cooked properly.. not a basic brown sauce, there is a depth of flavor that must come from the Indonesian influences.. I'd order this dish again, too! From the Chef's Special menu, the Shrimp with Pepper and Salt were calling to us, and we answered! Many may know this as "shrimp with spicy salt" at other establishments, but uniquely this one is prepared without the shells or tail which my husband preferred. I don't hate having the flavor and textures from the shells and tail, but the hubs says this was the best S&P Shrimp he has ever had! Not greasy/oily, nicely crisp and not at all overcooked. We'd have this again too! We notice the menu also has the same seasoning for pork and want to try that dish, too! The food is excellent, the service was impeccable and the business owners and employees have heart. The portions are generous, the prices are reasonable.. what else could you ask for? I hope that those who have never tried GoChina on Lake Avenue previously will patronize them now. These locals deserve the love from their community! Please thank them for their kindness, and tell them that first timers Carol & Don sent you

    Combination Chow Fun

Go China is the best Mandarin food you can get in the Pasadena area. We had the chow fun, dumpling, and the Shiu Mai, and the flavors were bold and delicious. The service was outstanding and we felt like family. Tommy, our waiter, was the sweetest and made the night so fun (all the customers know and love him). I highly recommend Go China for anyone in the Pasadena area looking for a fun night out with peaceful ambiance, welcoming atmosphere, and a stomach full of the best Mandarin food around!!

If you love great Chinese food Go China is the place for you and if you need catering they are great. I placed a catering order for our geology department at Caltech this past Thursday. I ordered for 20 people. I ordered egg rolls, orange chicken, broccoli and beef & vegetable chow fun. I called in the order on Tuesday and told them I'd be there at 11:15 am to pick up the order. When I arrived Tommy had all the food ready on a push cart. He was nice enough to tell me that he left the egg rolls, that were wrapped in foil, open a bit so they wouldn't get soggy. I have been happily been eating at Go China for myself since 2006 and have been placing Caltech catering orders since about 2012. I and Caltech have never been disappointed in the quality of their food. It turned out that the about 30 people ended up at the faculty lunch talk and there was still a lot of leftovers. After the talk the students happily ate the leftovers, as did I. The beef, in the broccoli and beef, is outstanding, flavorful and extremely tender. The egg rolls were crispy and crunchy thanks to the foil being pulled back. Their orange chicken is one of the best I ever eaten and the vegetable chow fun was a big hit. Thanks Tommy for all these years of great service and great food. I look forward to many more visits.

As someone…read morewho grew up in a Chinese household and had many authentic Chinese dishes before, this place did not particularly impress me. I would describe it as a glorified Panda Express. My honest thoughts on everything I tried: Green Onion Pancake- Crispy exterior with a soft doughy center. Not overly salty! Really enjoyed this as a side dish, but the vinegar sauce it came with.... did not go well with it at all. Maybe I just wasn't used to it since it doesn't traditionally come with that type of dipping sauce. Not the best green onion pancake I've had, but still solid! 8/10 Cucumbers & Tofu- Very refreshing cucumber! I liked how they used hard tofu. Very unique blend of textures and with tart and spicy flavors. However, doesn't stand out to me. 7/10 Beef Noodles- for the price, the portion was extremely small. Noodles were chewy and thick, which I liked. Beef slices were not as tender as I wanted it to be. However, I did like how they paired it with baby bok choy. It was decent, but did it blow my mind? Absolutely not. 7/10 You order at the cashier and seat yourself with a table number card. Interior was spacious and open. Lots of indoor seating. Water is self serve. Parking available in rear or on the street. Overall, underwhelming in my humble opinion.

You really cannot go wrong with the xiao long bao, steamed buns, or any of their other dumpling offerings. Beyond the dumplings, they have a lot of other dishes I really enjoy. Some of my favorites are the beef rolls, spicy wontons, green onion pancake, chow fun, orange chicken, and chow mein noodles. The noodles are especially good and, importantly, not overly greasy or oily, which can sometimes be an issue at other places. The prices are also competitive, especially considering the portions and quality of the food. It is the kind of place where you can order a good spread, share a bunch of dishes, and feel like you got a solid meal for the money. I also love that they bring out sugared peanuts when you sit down. It is a small touch, but a really nice one. The restaurant has plenty of seating, though service can be a bit slow at times, so good luck flagging down a waiter when it gets busy. You can also tell they are a high-volume dumpling restaurant because there is often steam in the dining room, which can make the restaurant feel a little warm at times. A couple of practical heads-ups: the tables are on the smaller side and can get crowded quickly if you order a lot of dishes, so just be mindful if you are planning to feast. You will also likely need to park in one of the structures around the area, but there is a large parking structure right across the street and plenty of parking options around Old Town. The slippery shrimp had a nice crisp with a pleasant blend of sweet, tangy, and spicy flavors. There's a slight spice from the red chili that felt mild on my tongue. This was our first time trying out the dish, and we liked it the most. The orange chicken tasted solid, and it had a slightly crispy texture. For some reason, the rice had an aftertaste I wasn't familiar with, but it was still fresh. There was a fortune cookie at the end of our meal. The pricing of the items ranged from $8-$10 per item we ordered which is expensive but as a treat every once in a while and for the amount of time and effort that goes into making dim sum, it was worth it. They looked like literal pieces of art being poured at the table. Ordering was super easy with the QR code system, so my husband handled the whole spread: shumai dumplings, chicken feet, sesame balls, and more. Everything came out hot, fresh, and beautifully plated. The ENTIRE table agreed on one thing: the chili oil condiment deserves to be sold in bottles to take home. It was that good. Smoky, just the right amount of spicy, and addictive. Now for the real test: my in-laws. They've been to *many* dim sum places and are not easily impressed. They declared this place to have the best chicken feet that they've ever had: meat easily sucked off the bone, melt-in-your-mouth tender, and perfectly seasoned. Aromatic, flavorful, and the spices are just on point. Dan Dan Noodles 9/10 - Solid and consistently good. The sauce is properly seasoned and truly compliments the perfectly cooked noodles. Shredded Cabbage with Pork 9/10 - Not to be confused with twice cooked pork. This dish is so simple and bland looking, but it's packed with flavor... so good! Garlic Pork Belly 8/10 - This is a cold dish. The meat was perfectly cooked and properly coated in chili oil. Solid and consistently good. Kung Pao Chicken 8/10 - In my opinion, it's an elevated Kung Pao Chicken. Solid and consistently good.

It can get really busy, though, so expect to wait or just call in your order and take your food to go. I recommend the soy sauce tofu with beef dish. It's fire. Massive W. Gen Z words. Good.

Had an absolutely wonderful dining experience at Panda Inn Pasadena. This visit felt especially…read morememorable because several of the dishes were privately customized for us, which made the whole dinner feel much more personal and special. One of the highlights was the lobster with uni and tofu. The presentation was beautiful, and the combination was surprisingly elegant -- the lobster was tender and fresh, the uni added a rich, creamy sweetness, and the tofu helped balance everything nicely. I also really enjoyed the candied eggplant. It had a great contrast of textures and a slightly sweet, caramelized flavor that made it very addictive. The braised sea cucumber with beef tendon was another standout. Both the sea cucumber and tendon were cooked until tender and soaked up the savory sauce beautifully. We also had fresh uni and eel, and everything was presented with a lot of attention to detail. The ingredients tasted fresh, the flavors were well balanced, and the entire meal felt thoughtfully prepared rather than simply being about presentation. Service throughout the evening was excellent as well. Everyone was attentive and made us feel very well taken care of. I've been to Panda Inn before, but this customized dinner was truly a different experience. Beautiful presentation, thoughtful dishes, and a very memorable evening. Definitely one of my favorite dining experiences in Pasadena. This is the kind of meal that reminds me why I enjoy discovering special dining experiences in Pasadena!

Overall we enjoyed our meal and experience and would totally come back to try other dishes…read more Food - everything was fresh tasting. Lobster: we enjoyed the Colette special sauce, it was aromatic with the basil, good level of spice, and lobster meat was cooked perfect. Salt and pepper calamari: great crunch, wish it had a little more salt & pepper & garlic seasoning most pieces weren't coated, but the calamari texture had the perfect chew. Crispy vermicelli with beef: loved the crispy noodles and soft beef stir fry textures together, definitely ask for chili oil with this dish, it needs that extra umph of flavor for the noodles. Salted egg yolk pumpkin: I normally love this dish, only wished the outside was crispier, got soggy fast and with how thick these are cut you want the crispy exterior, but flavor was good. Only thing that made me feel a bit "eh" was the chipped plateware they have and continue to use. Service - wonderful! Everyone was so friendly and had nice customer service. They even helped recommend dishes and also share opinions on what we shouldn't order which I loved. Parking - free parking lot! There are a few spaces right in front of the restaurant. But around the side there's more parking as well.
