I came in today to get a key cut for my 2007 FJ cruiser. I upgraded from the crappy OEM fob to a 2-1 key fob. Programmed the fob itself to my car before I came in. Just came in to get the key cut for my truck. The guy said it would only take a few minutes. Came back with some bad news and said he has to program to key to my car as I bought a key with a chip in it and that it would cost a little more than $100 bucks. I was a little bummed but gave them the green light. 10 minutes later they came back in to give me my keys and they came with good news. He said the key works without programming it and all I had to pay was the $6 dollars to get it cut. They totally could have burned me for $100 bucks and still programmed the key. 100% recommend these guys. read more

Times like this I wish there were an option for 6 star reviews (seriously Yelp, Elites should get to do a 6th star once a year or something). My van's only door lock was jammed, and Honda of Kirkland quoted me $250 to fix it. Another locksmith quoted me $200. Yuk. I just purchased a new townhouse and the sellers unfortunately did not leave me the mailbox key. As the mailbox is not owned by USPS, I was on my own to get it opened and re-keyed. I contacted Wise Locksmith after a recommendation from a friend, as well as after reading all of the positive Yelp reviews. I used the form on their website to inquire about the possibility of them being able to come out and open the mailbox. I received a reply almost immediately that they could come out same day to to the service. Since I wasn't available, I opted to have them come out the following afternoon. I had to get a new lock for the cluster mail box in my neighborhood and I found it here. Even though cluster mail boxes are everywhere, finding locks for them proved more difficult than taking candy from a fat kid. They had a bunch of them in stock and they made sure it worked and patiently explained to me how to install it myself. The key was so new and sharp, it was sticking in the lock so they ran it through some of their equipment to file it down. I installed it quick and easy (despite never installing one before) and it was nice that it came with three keys. It's kind of ridiculous that the post office charges $40 for such an easy installation, it took me one minute, thanks for the help Wise Locksmith! read more

The clinic in which I work needed to have "Not in use / In use" indicator locks installed in the bathroom doors. I contacted 3 local locksmiths for quotes. I emailed Chris via their website on Tuesday 10-11-11 and within an hour had a response sitting in my inbox with a rough estimate. Between my work schedule and Chris's our communication over the next few days was via voice mail or email. Although we never actually spoke on the phone he was able to get the formal quote emailed to me and we scheduled the work for the following Monday. He showed up as scheduled and after getting our approval on the hardware, he got to work. He was finished in less than an hour and the work was great! This was a non emergency job and he responded very quickly. I would not hesitate to call him in case of an emergency. He was the least expensive, the most responsive and extremely efficient. I was locked out of my house, because my electronic lock failed without warning (batteries). Chris was there in no time, unlocked the door, carried in my 5 gallon bottle of water, and took the time to change the batteries in the lock and make sure it worked properly afterwards. He also noted that the lock wasn't properly installed (it's missing a screw) and recommended that it be fixed. The locksmith showed up on time, but didn't have what was needed to fix an offset lock, so he had to go back to the shop. I had him rekey two residences that were close together and the job was done satisfactorily. However, when it came time to pay, his pay device had a tip screen that blocked payment. I was shocked and let him know that, but felt forced to leave a tip. Had I been thinking, I wouldn't have at all - later after I reviewed the bill I realized the tip alone was $43.37. Terrible!!!! He quotes a price on the phone for 2 Transponder keys, I drive 20 minutes to this guy, and then he jacks the price up $40.00!!! With (1) phone call I found another locksmith who not only came to me but ended up charging me only $60.00 per Transponder key $25.00 cheaper per key then Wise Locksmith's original quote. One of the best places to go for everything to do with locks. Had recently bought Mazda 3 vehicle that only came with a single key fob. I came in with a few questions about their services as the Mazda dealer wanted nearly 300 dollars for a replacement. My questions were quickly answered with no pressure to spend any money. The locksmith even recommended a couple of places to get blank discount keys to be brought and cut on site. After leaving and coming back I had decided to order the replacement key through the locksmith. He said it would take a few days and that he was already going to order some so I wouldn't have to prepay for the key fob! It did take a couple days longer than what was said for the key to arrive. However when they did arrived, I received a friendly call. Went in to cut and program the keys. The whole thing took less than 5 minutes. I was out a driving again with another key fob! Catastrophe from the start. 20 minutes after their scheduled arrival time, we called to find out that the tech didn't get the message from their scheduler. He rushed over - even later, of course - but didn't have his usual vehicle. So couldn't make the extra keys we needed or do the simple fix on the door handle we needed. So now we have to go someplace else to get the keys, and replace the door handle ourselves. For all that pleasure, they charged $87 for the rekeying we needed - and the $110 service call fee. For 3 simple rekeys, we ended up paying $217. And still have to do stuff to get the things done that we wanted them to do. Maddening. read more

I called up Wise Locksmith on Monday to get an estimate and it turned out to be pretty reasonable and slightly cheaper than other locksmiths I called. Just over an hour after I called, Chris showed up and rekeyed the locks in about half an hour. He was very friendly and knowledgeable, and I wasn't charged more than the estimate. I had Chris from Wise Locksmith come out to my home to rekey the locks after moving in. I expressed concerns about the security of my home since my front door frame had been cracked by someone trying to kick in the door while we were away for a couple of years and had rented the place out. I've read about some very expensive locks and asked Chris about having them installed. He said that were overkill for my needs but said that if I really wanted them, he'd install them. Because of the cost and his recommendation, I just had him rekey the existing locks and replace the deadbolt with a sturdier lock that was reasonably priced. I really appreciated his honesty. He also said that he could repair the crack in the front door frame by placing a metal strip along the entire edge. The work was done quickly and it looks great! More importantly, it's very secure! Chris was on time (well he was a little late but he called to let me know that he would be, which was just fine with me), highly skilled, and reasonably priced. Plus his pricing was very straightforward and was exactly what he said it would be. I'll definitely call Wise Locksmiths next time I need lock services! read more

Earlier this year, I had the misfortune of hiring Chris to swap out my ignition because my key broke off in it. He agreed and scheduled to be here at 4:30pm. He called to let me know he was running late because of the traffic, which was fine with me. He complained about the lack of daylight to the point where I asked if there was anything i could do to help. He sneered and told me I should't be around if didn't want to hear him cuss. Was any of that fault when I was more than willing to schedule for another day and time? Just like with another reviewer, he refused to take my check after agreeing to do so during the initial call and followed me to the atm. The reasons I took so long to add to the reviews are because: A.) I lived alone at the time. B.) The way he behaved, I had no reason to trust him. C.) He is a Locksmith and knew where I lived and which car I drove. Under the circumstances, I didn't feel I was being paranoid. Knowing all this, I treated him with the utmost of kindness and respect. Maybe he was having a bad day. Maybe his wife left him, in his truck, with his kids and his dog. Maybe he forgot to take his meds. Who knows but to this day, especially in his profession, I can't find any reason or excuse to treat any customer this way. Ladies, a word of sage advice. Although he seems to have better days than not, if you do live alone, please have someone with you. Especially nowadays, it's always better to be safe than sorry. read more

Our door was merely ajarred and my husband wanted to open it himself before paying 100$ to anyone else . When we purchased our car - 2011 Mazda 3 - it only came with one key. We wanted to get a couple spares, but the Mazda dealer wanted two appendages (I believe it was one arm and one leg) for two programed transponder keys. I bought the key blanks online and Chris cut and programmed them in about a half an hour - including the door locks, trunk release, and the panic alarm on the key fob. He told me upfront that there was a chance that the security codes might not work and that he would need to be paid for his time regardless. I figured at least the keys would then be cut and that I'd take the gamble. It worked and I couldn't be happier to have retained both appendages. Thanks Chris! read more

Called these guys after reading positive reviews. They changed out four locks in about an hour for about $17/lock. They installed a door nob that I had purchased and used its keys to retool the other locks, which was nice perk. They seemed friendly and did good work. I had a lock that was sticky, and the locksmith repaired the door as well with a saw he had with him, and did a good job. Only negative was that he didn't tell me that he was going to charge me extra labor until after he had done the labor. It wasn't too much though. The only negative was that I wanted to get an extra remote for my garage door and they weren't able to program the universal remote for my opener. No big deal, because it was something extra anyway. I would use them again or recommend them but I've only used them once. read more

After a quick moment studying the lock Chris knew what the issue was, and a minute later it was fixed! No need for new hardware. We used Wise Locksmith to rekey, put new deadbolts and doorknobs for three doors at our new house, and open up a locked cabinet. And they did a great job. They were courteous to let us know by phone call that they were going to be late to our scheduled appointment time, which we appreciated. But once Chris got here, he went straight to work and let us know what he was doing. The contractors who built the house didn't do the knobs the proper and safe way, and Chris made sure to let us know what he was doing to fix that. He also went above service and was willing to fix other things that was wrong with the door (wasn't clicking into place properly) and he suggested what we could easily do ourselves to save us some money. Had great service, my wife's purse was stolen with the house keys inside while I was out of state. I called wise locksmith and they came out at 5:00 pm and got the lock changed. No extra charge.
