Went in this morning to have a new key cut for my 2009 VW Beetle which has a laser cut key. Service was quick and, best of all, the key works great! Excellent service! I lost the keys to one of my cars. My son recommended Chris at Cascade. I called, and was given a quote for both ignition, and door keys right then. Other places I called wanted to charge me a service fee to come to my home, then once here I would get the quote for making the keys. One place didn't even have one price for the service fee. I was told it could be anywhere from $29. to $55., and the one key (ignition) could be anywhere from $125. to $500.! Another place even said that I would need an automotive technician instead, and gave me a number for one. :( Chris was very friendly and had both keys made in about 15 minutes. I recently changed out my front door top latch (deadbolt) and bottom latch. The new hardware was made with the Kwikset SmartKey Lock system. After installing the latches, i watched a Youtube video on how to program my existing door key to the new lock. After watching 3 times to make sure I did this correctly.....I failed. So i reached out to a few locksmiths but Cascade Lock & Key had the best price. So I called them up, set up an appointment and they were on time, friendly, COVID-19 prepared and was able to fix my new lock so that I was able to use my existing keys. The locksmith was able to complete the project in less than 30 minutes. I highly recommend Cascade Lock & Key. *side note: another Locksmith company told me that once the SmartKey lock is mis-programmed, there is no way to fix it and that I would need to buy a whole new lock, which they conveniently had some to sell. This is NOT true as Cascade Lock & Key fixed mine. read more

The key they made opens my car door, but the chip inside is either non-functional or incorrectly programmed because the alarm goes off.

Needed to have a Honda programmable key made and cut. Was told it was $150 for one key and $200 for two keys. I paid a $66 deposite for the two keys so she could get started on the work. Came back in 45 minutes with both keys completed. Final charge, after the $66 deposite was $$209. i then asked what gives? Said the $66 was her labor charge to begin working on the keys. Said she always charged this up front. I told her she really needs to make sure her customers understands this up front. Will not use this shop again. I feel like I was ripped off. read more

This company was contacted to replace several locks on a mail box that had been forced open by thieves. I split the repair bill with two other parties who also had their locks damaged beyond repair. The charge for this was about $100 each. This service was performed in May of 2020. My lock has failed over the last month and I can no longer get to my mail. I contacted the owner, Sarah, and she blamed the lock company. She said I would have to pay for a new lock AND labor to replace it after less than a year. I DO NOT DO BUSINESS with companies that do not even provide for minimal warranty coverage as it indicates their service and products are of poor quality. I called this company for a quote to see how much it would cost for to re-key my house. I told them I would call them back if I wanted to make a appt. They decided to showed up to my house after I hired a different locksmith. I had to give them my address to get a quote. They replaced the lock on my mailbox. Every time mail comes it jams. The first time they came to fix it they unjammed it and then told me I was turning the key the wrong way and drew an arrow on my mailbox like my IQ is negative and obviously that's why I can't get it open. Then when I tried again, it was jammed again. So I texted, nothing. Sent a Yelp message, nothing. Called, and when I began to explain my situation it felt like the messages had been read and just not responded to. I kept getting cut off "I know, I know, I know" and then told they'd come fix it Monday. So I can't get my mail today and their faulty work is just excused for the weekend. We just moved and are in the middle of an adoption so there is all kinds of mail we need to receive as soon as it gets to us. Update now they're coming today to replace. He came to the house in less than 15 minutes, met me at the mailbox, replaced my lock in about 5 minutes, and charged me $59.95. He was friendly, happy, and affordable. I'm giving them 2 stars because they couldn't install an electronic lock that I have bought. I would have given a better rating if they had a better customer service. The guy/owner of the company called me an hour and half before my scheduled  appointment time (10.30am) to reschedule the appointment.  Not a problem to me, so we rescheduled it to 12 noon. He rekeyed 3 basic locks and then spent more than 30 mins trying to install my new electronic lock. An hour into the appointment, he claimed that my brand new lock is a faulty piece of equipment, and told me to get a new one from a local store. I was surprised when he handed me the bill for over $100 ($55 of which is the services fee for driving to my house in Lynnwood from Everett), but since he did rekey 3 locks, I just paid the bill. The same evening, my husband decided to try installing the same lock (the one that Cascade said was broken). After spending about an hour, he (not even a locksmith) figured out that the lock has to be calibrated because our door swings the opposite way. Something that I thought a locksmith could have figured it out easily. Two hours of our times were wasted that day. So, I called the company and told them the lock wasn't even broken. Mind you that I explicitly told them that we are not asking for our money back but just to inform them that the lock was not broken. The guy didn't even apologize once for his incompetency and false claim on the lock. All he did for almost 10 minutes of the phone conversation was yelling defensively at me, "your husband fixed it and we didn't charge for installing the lock, so what do you need?". I repeatedly said I was not calling to ask for my money back. And he just kept yelling that there was no labor charge. I understand that he didn't charge me for wasting my time waiting for him to replace the lock. A simple apology admitting his fault on claiming that the lock was broken should have been enough. Bottom line: Only trust him for BASIC key tasks. read more

In my haste to take out the household waste, I soon found out that I unfortunately locked myself out of the house. The neighbor let me call a locksmith, and Cascade Lock & Key was the first locksmith ad in the phonebook I saw. Their promise of a 20 minute arrival was prompt -- the locksmith jumped out of his van, grabbed his toolbox, and went quickly to work on the lock. He got me into my house in less than 2 minutes! Not only that, but he put the lock back together (being a newbie to locking myself out the house, I thought I might have to buy a new lock when he took it apart). The emergency call for a locksmith set me back $75, but I had no other choice. And quite frankly, due to the efficiency of the response, I am not too sad about the cost.
