Terrible experience. Waited 40 mins for the tech and eventually gave up and left. Our original appointment was at 4:30, then he moved it to 5:00. Was at the meeting place and called him and texted him at 5:10 because he still hadn't shown. He told us it would be 10 more minutes because of traffic. Eventually gave up and left at 5:35 (after waiting for 25 more mins) because we were sick of waiting. He was not very communicative or apologetic at all for being late and making us wait. My son used a locksmith a few years ago who warned him about scam artists in the locksmith business, so I tried calling several places but got creeped out by the person on the phone. I was able to contact the locksmith my son used (now retired) and he said to try Maple Leaf Locksmith. Bjorn is most likely the only locksmith in Seattle area that works on antique locks. My 150 year old secretary that belonged to my grandfather, accidently got locked and I was unable to open it even though I had the key. Bjorn was so patient and focused on picking the lock. Wow. What can I say. Nothing but good things to say about Bjorn and Maple Leaf Locksmith. Our family had locked ourselves out the night before and in a desperate move found a late night locksmith to let us in the house. The locksmith (if you can even call him that) could not pick the lock, so he used a drill to break the lock, which he still could not do, so he ultimately ended up using a disc grinder to cut the entire thing off the door, damaging our door. We paid an arm and a leg just to get him do that. And it took him almost 2 hours!! The next morning I had to find someone to come and repair what this amateur had done to our door/lock. I found Bjorn. He was super responsive, easy to communicate with, and was at our home within 3 hours. Bjorn replaced the lock in 10 minutes! I was astonished. He also told me any REAL locksmith who knew what they were doing could have picked the lock in less time than it took him to replace it, AND they would have replaced the lock too. The kind of service that's virtually impossible to find anymore. I needed a new key made for my Lexus - the kind that you can't just get any store and where the dealer will charge you like $250 for. I found a way to buy the key "blank" off the Internet for like $20, and transfer the "electronic guts" over from the old broken key case, but still needed to find someone to cut the key. I called around a few places and almost all of them are closed on the weekend. I left a message for Bjorn, not expecting him to call me back until the following week. Not only did he call me back, but he said if I drove to his office he could take care of it for a reasonable price and while I waited. I was flummoxed, but I booked it over there, gave him the old and new key, and like 15 minutes later was on my way with a new, working key at a fraction of the price the dealer would charge.
