Everyone was right as their khao soi did not disappoint. Their broth was so flavorful and completely hit the spot. My pleasant surprise at Nalak Thai though was their matcha selection. I ended up ordering a summer special item that was a southern peach matcha and oh my goodness it was soooo good! If you are a matcha fan I highly recommend their drinks as they are perfect in both the matcha color and taste. I would love to go back to try more of their drinks as they also advertise a matcha flight!

The drinks here have all been great. The slightly more unique dish, stir fried mama noodles, was good but really overly salted. The Khai Soi and tender beef noodle soup was good the first time and completely off the second time. Now the interior is beautiful and the price matches that. Unfortunately the food being hit or miss while the prices stay high is a big problem for me.

I especially love coming here when it's raining outside -- the pho just hits differently on a rainy day!!

They have modern kiosk ordering which is kinda nice for a pho place. I ordered a regular pho with just brisket and an iced coffee. There aren't that many tables and the ambience is mostly that of a fast casual place. Good place to catch a quick meal but probably not for date night. The pho came out and looked good. The iced coffee arrived maybe 5 minutes after the pho. The pho was actually really great. Broth was clean, noodles were on point, and the meat was of good quality. The iced coffee is premade and they use a bit too much condensed milk imo but that's a common issue in a lot of pho places around here. They do have some wait staff as well who were attentive and checked up on me. All in all, I'll be coming back for sure. It was a bit pricey for one person but quality is something that is lacking in a lot of our local pho joints so I'm willing to pay for good food.

## Long intro; skip to second paragraph for food review ##…read more Hands down my new favorite Vietnamese restaurant. How did I not know this hidden gem was here? Typically, my family and friends are too lazy to explore new places. They quietly trade quality and excitement for convenience and predictability, going to the same familiar places; I usually acquiesce. However, today was a beautiful, cool, crisp, sunny autumn Sunday. It was perfect for eating hot soup outside. I pulled up my Yelp app to find a Vietnamese restaurant with outdoor seating. I found this place, and we all headed over. To my chagrin, I saw outdoor seating... but only at the neighboring Italian restaurant! Ahhhhh!!! My plans were foiled. I debated whether I wanted to just eat at the Italian place, but they obviously didn't have the Bun Bo Hue I was hankering for! Do we have one person order pasta while the rest of us sneak Vietnamese food at the table too? I mean... what would the Italian restaurant say? "No outside food." By definition, people would be eating food outside. So no big deal, right? I decided just to eat inside. The waitress told me they used to have outdoor seating about a year ago, but the landlord charges an extra fee for outdoor seating. That seems silly to me, but then again, for perfect weather like October, maybe it's worth doing for a little while. Now to the food. We cracked open the menu and noticed the prices were on the higher end of average. Then again, the place felt a little nicer too. Bun Bo Hue: (~$18) Add another $1.50 for a large. I was worried it would be too spicy, but the waitress assured me it wasn't that spicy. The "heat" was added at the very end, as it seemed concentrated only on the top on just one side of the bowl. That made it very convenient for me to spoon that part out into a separate bowl for my wife, who really enjoys spicy food. You can add the pork hock for a little extra. The large portion is enough to fill a lumberjack, or feed two average adults. Bun: Forgot how much it was, but around the same range. This was also delicious, but honestly, the first thing that caught our attention was how much meat it came with. This certainly explained why the prices seemed to be a little higher than at other places. Pho: ($16) Add another $1.50 for a large. My son ordered this and could barely finish it. He definitely enjoyed his meal. Spring Rolls: Two "overweight" rolls that were quite filling. Not like your typical skinny, crispy rolls. They were okay--not bad, not fab. I'd order them again, though. Bottomline: WE ARE COMING HERE AGAIN. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

We were here on a Sunday around 4 p.m. At that time of day, it wasn't very busy. Both of us ordered pho. I had pho ga with white meat chicken. My husband got pho with shrimp. The servings were huge! We were impressed with how generous they were with the aromatics. We both liked what we ordered. The place is roomy. When we entered, we were told to pick a table, and we chose a 4-top. The decor is simple -- paintings of outdoor spaces. There was also a crucifix on one wall. If you need a fork for the pho, please ask for one. The staff was efficient and polite. Recently, my wife ordered from them, and the experience was terrible. The food arrived cold, the vegetables were completely undercooked, and despite specifically asking for no spice for the kids, the food was extremely spicy. My 7-year-old even threw up because of how unbearably hot it was. We also requested three extra sides of rice, only to discover they've switched to tiny containers that are half the size of their previous ones--about the size of a sauce container. When I spoke to the manager about it, he insisted the portion sizes had been the same for years even though we order recently before the same thing every time, which is hard to believe. Their portions are now so small that it's impossible to enjoy their dishes with such little rice. When I called back to express my concerns, the woman I spoke to was dismissive, talked over me, and denied any wrongdoing. It's clear that customer service is not a priority for them. I will never order from Smile Thai again. They show zero care or accountability for their mistakes. Save yourself the frustration and look elsewhere for Thai food.
