    Beef 39. Combination Fried Rice

I loved how quiet and peaceful this restaurant felt, the service was great. The rice tasted a lot better once I put the soy sauce on it and I felt like it was so much rice I ended up taking some home which is always a plus for me! I would definitely try something different if I came back around here! They also offer an array of flavors for boba which I definitely want to check out next time! Parking is available in a number of different places around the restaurant along with dessert stores and other food options.

EastWind was a solid B- experience. The service was good and the tables were clean however the food was far from authentic. Food is all lacking critical elements such as herbs in the the summer rolls and the right makeup of spice in the squid. The shaky beef was so tough I could hardly eat it. The fried rice was dry and flavorless. While passable, the value and quality just are not where it should be. With all the other choices in the area, will be not be returning.

Service was quick, and the restaurant is pretty hidden and quiet. I got the crispy noodle stir fried, which had a really nice variety of vegetables and yummy sauce. My friends also liked their pho and clay pot rice. The restaurant is also sorta dark and nicer than expected.

No, not the owner of this place but I tend to go here a lot because the food is very good and consistent. Ordered what I typically order but was tempted to go with the clay pot. Next time! Try this place, it's not very busy most times and service is very good too.

East Wind in Fairfax is fantastic for authentic Vietnamese food! Came here on a Friday night without a wait. They start you off with complimentary tasty shrimp-flavored chips. We ordered the combo vermicelli and the Vietnamese crepe with chicken (you can also choose tofu). Both were full of flavor! The vermicelli combo is great - you get to try a bit of everything, like spring rolls and your choice of grilled beef/chicken/pork. I have been looking for Vietnamese crepes, which I don't find in many Vietnamese restaurants in this area. They load it up with bean sprouts for that nice crunch. The fish sauce dressing they use makes everything taste amazing. They have a large menu and I'll definitely come back to check out their other chef's speal entrees!

I went to East Wind for lunch with my co-workers recently. Most of us ordered Lunch Special with shrimp rolls/fried rolls. I also ordered Vietnamese Coffee for my drink. While waiting, we were served complimentary Shrimp Chips which was amazing! Everything we had was delicious - the lunch special pho was definitely smaller than a regular bowl but that was okay for me. The service was a little slow during our visit because it looks like they have one person taking care of everyone's orders - but I hope this was an isolated case.

Cheap lunch combo and the price is right. However spring rolls were small and pork bowl was ok. Not much flavor or anything special. Was disappointed after all the good reviews. My two other friends had beef pho and it was just ok as well- the broth wasn't that rich or flavorful.

Very consistent with food quality, quick service, friendly staff. Crispy eggrolls are very good here. The broth in their soup is pretty good and they typically provide you with a complementary appetizer. Very good lunch specials for around $13. Must try!

East Wind is every nice word you can think of. Even as a regular for over five years, I am still crazy phở this place! My sorority sisters, friends, and I eat here frequently and never tire of it! I love visiting for their lunch combos (11-3PM) as you can receive one main item (1-8) + spring rolls or garden rolls + one soft drink for $11.95--a pretty solid deal! As for: ‣ QUALITY - All ingredients are high quality and fresh; dishes are prepared with meticulous attention to detail, balanced flavor profiles, and expertise! ‣ SERVICE - Truly the best service a guest could hope for! Fast, friendly, genuine, and attentive, they aim to ensure your dining experience goes smoothly. My glass of water is never empty. In addition, I absolutely adore their complimentary shrimp crackers and sweet flan dessert! ‣ AMBIENCE - The restaurant is clean, spacious, and filled with charming décor and soothing vibes. The atmosphere is very casual and comfortable--perfect for bringing family, friends, co-workers, and dates. Overall, a great place for phở, especially if you are a Mason student! East Wind will always have a special place in my heart (and stomach)!

Food here was very good. They bring shrimp chips to every table which I thought was nice. My husband & I both ordered spring rolls with shrimp. The peanut sauce wasn't as "peanut-y" as I liked, but it was still good. Our friends got the vegetarian spring rolls which they liked. My husband & I ordered pho with chicken which was delicious! Our friends both ordered vegetarian pho, however they only had chicken broth and beef broth, so if you are vegan or vegetarian, this may be a problem! Service was nice. The place is pretty big, there was a decent amount of people there but it was pretty quiet.

Pho Old Town (Phở Đặc Biệt)
    Anh H.

Arriving here on a weekday at about 7pm, there seemed to be ample seating. We were seated immediately and there only looked to be a couple of families and an odd table or two otherwise. There were also quite a number of pick up orders as well throughout the course of our meal, however our order still came out fairly quickly. I had a Vietnamese drip coffee with condensed milk (Cà Phê Sữa Đá) to start for $4.50. It's a good pick me up if you need a bit of a caffeine boost. For my entree, I had the large Pho Old Town (Phở Đặc Biệt) which came with your standard fare of eye round, brisket, and meatballs for $12.95. It also came with a side dish of spearmint, mung bean sprouts, jalapeño slices, lime, sriracha, and hoisin sauce to add to taste. Overall, the service is good here, the food was fair for the price, and the ambiance was a bit dim. I'm glad I got to check it out and would come again next time I'm craving Viet food on Main St/Old Town Fairfax.

Clay Pot Rice With Clams and Pork
    Justine T.

I really enjoyed my meal here! The clay pot with clams and pork was amazing. It was so flavorful and there was a good amount of meat. I just wish the rice was a bit crispier at the bottom. The service was fine and atmosphere was okay. I just don't see myself coming back here. Nothing really blew me away, but I would recommend if you live close or are in the area already.

The from scratch broth, pleasant aroma from sour bamboo, crunchy string beans (wish there was an option to add!!) were phenomenal. Plus the tender yet collagenous beef shank cooked to perfection was phenomenal. Absolutely stick to your bones without the usual heaviness with big spicy noodle soups. No MSG headaches here, all the flavor is homegrown. The stinky tofu was also fried to perfection, with a side of Taiwanese kimchi. All the food was thoughtfully prepared and executed. We had our noodles fall apart and Yan corrected it immediately. She took the time to talk about her story of how she opened the restaurant originally to support her daughters college, her natural gift at cooking, and how her recipe was developed originally from a family one to what it is today. Just the warmest, most welcoming people. Even short staffed, we were impressed at how faultless and prepared from the heart the food was, warm and inviting the service, and leaving feeling like we just ate at our favorite auntie's house. Will definitely be back!!

One of the highlights of the night was meeting the owner, Jason. We bonded over our shared Cantonese backgrounds and even got to meet his aunt, who was visiting from California and happened to be sitting next to us. It made the whole experience feel incredibly welcoming and personal. We ordered the Dynamite Roll, which was a solid choice with 8 generous pieces, and the Szechuan spicy wontons, which were juicy with just the right amount of heat. If you visit, definitely grab a seat at the bar. The bartenders are friendly, engaging, and really add to the experience. We were treated to a complimentary shot of Jäger with Jason and even got to sample their Lychee Pearl cocktail because the bartender had made an extra. The cocktails really stood out. Instead of masking everything with sugary juices, they use extracts and creative techniques to build balanced drinks that complement the flavors beautifully. Jason also mentioned that their cocktail specials change every month, so we already told him we'll be back regularly to see what new creations he comes up with.
