It's a small restaurant at a strip mall (the restaurant's capacity is 85 people). This place always has customers but at peak dining times, there's a wait out the door- yes, even during summer sometimes, but especially when it's cold or raining. Their pho is spectacular, as is their vermicelli bowls, spring and summer rolls. Banh xeo is mid-- there's a specific spice that throws it off (maybe turmeric). I stopped by here recently and noticed they have new menus. Quick skim: pho prices haven't changed, but certain menu items have gone up about $1. If you're looking for a sweet treat after lunch, there's a Sweet Frog 2 doors down, Okaeri next door (Japanese soufflé pancakes and lattes), Paris Baguette a few yards away. Stopped by for pho and a few appetizers. The pho was decent overall--the broth had a good flavor, but it lacked the deep, rich depth that really makes a bowl memorable. Writing this as a fan of Pho 75 and have gone there multiple times in my time in living in the DMV. That being said this place takes the crown from me for best pho. We went for lunch and it was packed that there was a line but I think we really only waited 10 minutes. The place has more items on the menu and their broth is about the same quality level as Pho 75, but they have better meat quality (I got the fatty brisket and flank steak) and larger portions and more noodles in their bowl. The sauce was too thin and didn't stick well to the wings. I really enjoyed the grilled pork in the bun cha Hanoi and the grilled beef in the banh hoi. The meats were both very flavorful and nicely charred. Although, the bun cha was missing the usual grilled meat patties. The hu tieu kho came with pork and shrimp as well as a sweet, hoisin-like sauce that is meant to be mixed in. The sauce was a bit sweet in my opinion. It also came with a small bowl of broth on the side. Ambiance is casual. Overall, this is a good restaurant with a wide variety of Vietnamese food. There were about 4 parties ahead of us and it took about 20 minutes to get a table. I ordered the cha gio and a large pho tai chin (rare steak, well done brisket). The cha gio came out hot and crispy and were a pretty decent size. They were good. The pho was also very good. The broth was flavorful and not too salty. I seemed a little light on the star anise flavor. Also, I did not notice any corriander (cilantro) in the broth. The plate of standard accompaniments includes basil, bean sprouts, sliced jalapeno, and lime wedges. There was a good amount of meat. I tend to mix my bites so that there's a bit of meat, noodles, basil and/or jalapeno in each one. I did not want for extra meat, though an extra serving (along with broth or noodles) is available for extra cost. There are about three dozen other dishes on the menu besides pho, so I will definitely go back to try something else. I stopped by to get a coffee one day and noticed the place was packed during lunch. I took my parents there this past week, the food was hot and fresh. The place was even more packed for dinner. The broth was simple but really savory and their special with the pork chop was really good but the main showstopper for me was the bean cake, it was delicious!
