It appears from the many one star reviews that all I can do reiterate the problems with this store. I placed a mobile order from the parking lot and went in a few minutes later to pick it up. The girl at the front said they're working on it and handed me a cup. There were only a few tables occupied when I entered and it appeared that most already had thier orders. Probably a dozen people came in after I ordered so I waited until food began coming out for people that came in after I did. I went to the front again and asked about my order and the girl said they're working on it...Right. Fast forward and now I've been in this place for near 30 minutes and EVERYONE who entered after me has recieved thier order. I ask for a manager and my money back. They can't refund my money because I placed the order online. Gotta speak with customer service. Now they've found my order and I refuse it because it probably been sitting someplace for 20 minutes or more. Short staff is not the issue because they had probably eight people working. Complete disorganization and/or employees that don't care to be there is the problem. Whataburger needs to pull this franchise because they're really making the brand look bad. Now the onus is on me, the customer, to get my money returned because these people can't do thier job properly. BEWARE OF THIS PLACE. GO ELSWHERE TRUST ME! read more

I am visiting Texas for the first time and always remember to friend being on the phone with me while he was at the drive-through of a Whataburger so finally I'm here and I get my friend that just moved here to drive for the first time. The drive-through had about 25 cars in it at 11:20 at night so we decided to go in since no one was there waiting, ordered One meal and two extra burgers and it took 25 minutes, the place was filthy, and organized. Employees were taking the trash out with gloves and then touching food afterwards with the same gloves when we finally got home about two minutes away and opened the bag the sandwiches were all wrapped poorly and full of grease. The french fries were very good, the soda was very good but that's about all I could say was good. The 20 years or so that I waited to try it I could've lived without. I've tried In-N-Out burgers and have to say it's one of the best establishments I've ever had a burger at worth ethic, cleanliness and quality is amazing and I've only ate at two of them in California. I have been 4-5 times in the last year and each time I have either had to wait over 20-30 minutes for my meal in the drive thru (so much for fast food), and/or they have gotten my order wrong. I went tonight thinking last chance, and I was one of two cars in the drive thru when I arrived - took 20 minutes to get my order, they got my order wrong, and when I went in the restaurant to have it corrected, not a single employee apologized. Unbelievable, ridiculously poor service in the drive thru on 6/30/21, at 8:45pm! Should have known that after sitting at the order box for 10 minutes before someone decided to take my order, that it was going to be a BIG mistake! A homeless woman has literally been living inside this Whataburger for over a month now. Why not? They're open 24 hours, have A/C and the staff lets her. Is she part of the crew now? She has 2 or 3 stolen shopping carts full of trash permanently harbored in the parking lot, and leaves more trash on the storm drain there. Most of her day is spent inside the restaurant talking to herself. Today when I saw her unfolding a napkin and placing it on the booth seat before she would sit down, I thought "This place must really be filthy." Roneshia (Or at least that's the name on my receipt) was so warm and welcoming this morning. The line was a bit long and she was so sweet to everyone she interacted with ahead of us and then us too when it was our time to order. You would think she was having the best day of her life if you observed her attitude and the way she was interacting with everyone. Every single person left her register with a smile this morning. While waiting on our food the same level of customer service continued. I hope if a manager or someone from corporate is reading this they realize how big of a deal that is. She was wearing a khaki colored shirt instead of an orange one so maybe she is a manager but she deserves a raise, seriously. This is my closest Whataburger and I hate it. I never write reviews for chain restaurants but I have to warn others of this location. I understand the food is made fresh, but this location takes SO long. And when I do get my food, my sodas are flat, my fries are cold, my burger patties are dry, and I didn't get the sauces I paid for. This review is primarily about this location in specific, and not the chain in its entirety. What-a-Burger is typically a place I go to when I've run out of time to eat, and in feeling rushed decide to opt for fast food, but simultaneously want to break up the monotony of my typical rotation. Since chain restaurants are not exactly fungible, this is not unexpected, but unfortunate as it is located directly off the 635 West service road and MacArthur Boulevard, which make it easily accessible. The work culture here must be very lackadaisical as they will ordinarily miss at least one item and botch at minimum one special request during every visit. Going back in for refunds and or items to be remade is antithetical to the mission of fast food. Also because What-a-Burger charges for most incidentals, it's imperative that they be on your sandwich. No paying customer should have to put up with phantom slices of cheese or bacon. With the unpleasantries out of the way, What-a-Burger is a solid fast food establishment focused on burgers. At the time or writing this you can get a triple What-a-Burger meal with bacon, cheese, large fries, and a large shake for right around $11. I find this to be an astounding value, especially if you are needing to consume about 2000 calories on short notice. They recently released the Dr. Pepper shake and malt, which is much like a blended root beer float, but with Dr. Pepper. While I imagine it's preparation to be super simple, probably soft serve plus Dr. Pepper from the drink fountain, it still provides a unique taste among the many desert type items that fast food places offer. I also thoroughly enjoy the customizability here. You can get your burger on a wheat bun, Texas Toast, or white bun, with mayonnaise, mustard, fancy ketchup, or no sauce, add jalapenos, onions, bacon, and other similar toppings. While this is becoming less of a novelty as other chains offer the same feature, they still make notable sandwiches. I'd also rate their standard fries as some of the best in the industry, probably right below McDonalds in terms of consistency, flavor, and seasoning. read more

Only because at the time we were stuck in Dallas, Texas (Due to a major snow-storm brewing in DC at the time) with no luggage, no car we ended going to the only fast food restaurant within walking distance -- we ate here. Of course after standing in the long lines at the airport for 4 hours trying to find out if we could even get a flight out hunger of course tends to strike, especially past 10pm. Ack! This place was "connected" to a gas station joint. Fancy! At the time, I still ate beef, I ended up ordering their typical and average tasting #1 "Whataburger" which came with regular fries (literally "regular" taste) and a drink. If possible, I would give this location a negative rating. My family attempted to eat here recently. After 30 minutes of waiting, our food was still not ready. There were no customers when we arrived, so the staff was only helping people in the drive thru. By the time we approached to ask about our food, there were 8 other customers who had ordered after us and were all waiting to be served their food. We were told our food would be out when it was ready, but we would have to wait because drive thru got priority. The man who claimed to be manager was rude and dismissive, and made provoking comments to the guests. At one point, a worker was watching the customers on the a screen in the back and making fun of customers who were getting frustrated. When a customer told him she didn't like being mocked by his employees, his response was "then don't do stupid things". At that point, I asked for a refund for our meal and said we would go some place else. The "manager" said that was impossible, but we could come back the next day to request a refund from the daytime manager. He said we would "likely" get a refund. I said that was not ok, and said we would like a refund or a gift card of the same amount we paid. At that point, he went and locked himself in the back room, and sent another worker out to deal with the front lobby. The young girl said he had left because his shift was over, but we could clearly see him through the window in the door. I have never experienced such horrendous customer service or been spoken to so rudely. When a customer asked why the lady was lying to us, she started using profanity and calling the customer derogatory names and threatening to call the cops because "customers aren't allowed to be mean". At that point, we left, honestly because I wasn't willing to let my young daughter witness such atrocious behavior and I didn't trust the guy in the back to not do something to our food. read more

I have been to this location several times. The service is always slow. Service people on the drive thru are rude and always try to over-talk you when you try to order, and they always want to add something to your order. The cashier acts like she/he are in fog. Most of the time they have ask what you ordered. You have to repeat-repeat and repeat the order. Pretty dum, and pretty dum of Whataburger hiring such dum people and lack of training before they put them on the job. I grew up eating Whataburger and visited many of the different locations never had an issue with service. I decided today to drop by and pick up a few hamburgers and the wait in drive thru took a few minutes to get my order not that bad of a wait could have been faster, after all it is drive thru right! Although, when I got home my hamburger was missing and here's the kicker I got charged for it...seriously! I've noticed in the last couple of years the staff has changed not in a good way and they definitely don't have the great management they once did. If upper management or the regional manager for the Whataburger located at 635 & MacArthur reads all the negative reviews maybe they will wise up and hire a new manager for the restaurant before they lose more customers!! read more

Who has the best burger? In-N-Out? Shake Shack? or Whataburger? That's the question. It took three separate trips to Texas before I finally caved and tried Whataburger (mainly at my husband's insistence) then proceeded to eat Whataburger twice in one day (something I've never done before with ANY fastfood). I think In-N-Out still has the best burger out of the three but their spicy ketchup is like crack. I drowned my burger and fries in it and it just made everything taste better. On my first trip, I tried the popular Patty Melt (beef patties, grilled onions, monterey jack cheese, creamy pepper sauce) but didn't like it all that much. It was just too heavy but I loved my husband's classic Whataburger (mustard, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, diced onions). It tasted like a backyard burger to me which was a good thing. On my second trip, I tried a WhataChicken (crispy filet, WhataSauce, tomatoes, lettuce) and fell in love with Whataburger. They're open 24-7 and there was just something so deliciously sinful about eating a burger and fries with their spicy ketchup. Wash it all down with some tea and it's kind of perfect. I think their fries could be a lot better. They're on the limp side and I like my fries crispy. They get extra stars though for their prices and the fact that they're open 24/7. You can literally enjoy them for breakfast, lunch, dinner, late night, snacks, whenever you want it. I'll probably be back when I'm in Texas again! And I'll keep my fingers crossed for a California opening of Whataburger. 4/5 read more

I can't give 0 stars or I would have. Waited in the drive through line almost 15 minutes, NO ONE AHEAD OF ME! After 5 minutes they take my money. After 10 minutes they gave me my drink. Then I sat there waiting and waiting...I finally look at the window and see my bag of food sitting on the counter! No one around. Finally the kid who was waiting on the drive through was standing there taking orders, I start waving my arms, yelling, "is that my order?!".
