Schlotzsky's left San Diego in 2005 and California in 2018, so when I saw this here, AND a combination with Cinnabon I was tickled. While I wasn't in town for this, I knew I had to add it to my food tour. I initially came here at 10am becuase that's what their website and the doors said, but they didn't open until 11 multiple days in a row, which was disappointing. I went nearby to get a coffee and when I came back they were very busy, so I guess everyone knew the correct hours except me. It's been so long since I've had this I didn't even remember what I used to like so I went with 2 of their classics. Ham & Cheese original, and a Deluxe Original. Sweet, savory Ham. Airy soft bread, perfect bites. The deluxe add roast beef was a bit more to handle, but ultimately very deluxe with the roast beef (closer to North Shore than Arbys), great ham, and the salami is a nice touch. I remember not liking the olives that much back in the day, but I liked how it melted into the cheese and with a more mature palate (20 years later) I really enjoyed it. After all these years I still can not place the secret sauce (very mayo, mustard, tangy, could use some sweetness since I know they already have mustard). Washed red onions, thing crunchy shredduce. I wish the tomato was salted. It wasn't hot enough to go strawberry lemonade or sweet tea, but the fountain drink was well mixed and carbonated. Service was a little slow, especially making my pecanbon which was excellent. I also took a 6 pack to go. I can see myself coming here regularly if I lived here becuase they defintiely left a hole in the sandwich game in California. read more

I am in the midst of Saturday chores and the traffic light at Denton Tap and Sandy Lake is out. Rather than joining three other drivers in a four-car collision (because Texas) I cut through the parking lots and found myself at this Schlotzsky's. I ordered the Original as a combo and it was pretty good. The sandwich was the right amount of toasty, the soda was dead on (not skimping on either the syrup or the CO2). The chips were dry, but I am not a chips person. I noticed when I was ordering that they sell $5.00 pizzas after 5:00 pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. I came back on Sunday evening at about 6:00 pm with the thought of trying the pizza. So, I ordered the Supreme and a small drink. The cashier rings it up and asks me what kind of chips I wanted. I told him that I wanted the $5.00 pizza, which I presumed did not come with chips. He said the chips were included, so I asked for a different flavor than I had on Saturday. He rang up the total, that turned out to be more like the price of the combo I had ordered on Saturday. Once we had it clear that I only wanted the pizza, and add a small drink, he now tells me that the $5.00 pizza is actually $7.00. "The pizza is $7.00?" "The Supreme is $7.00," he clarified. I double-checked the menu board. There were six different pizza offerings, and three of them, including the Supreme, were all the same price, the highest regular price for the after 5:00 pizza offerings. I asked him for the after 5:00 price on one of the other pizzas that had the same price as the Supreme. "It's also $7.00." So, I ordered the $7.00 $5.00 after 5:00 with the drink. This is when the POS terminal decides that it has to do an upgrade and will not accept my card. The manager has to ring it up in the drive-thru, but they do manage to print a receipt for me. The pizza came out quickly. Too quickly. My impression is that it had been pre-made and popped into a toaster once the order was completed. It tasted of veggies and meat, but was dry from the fact that there was no marinara sauce. The soda was perfect again. Between the sneaky up-sell and the fraudulent menu board, what was a good experience on Saturday was negated on Sunday evening. I will probably not be coming back to this store. read more

Gave it a chance but no. Something changed in management cost cutting. This is not just this store, but on all Schlotsky's restaurant. First it was the change in pizza sauce recipe, then it's to overpricing the cookie for a fraction of its size, then a change in tea brewing batch, possibly from actual tea bag to powder because I can taste a unique powdery bitterness. I tossed it away after a first sip and will serve as an expensive cat food scooper cup. Just no more thanks. I will not return to any Schlotsky's franchise while this cost cutting is in progress while increasing price for consumers. read more

Walked in, person at counter said what's your order. I said well let's start with a me saying hello. She actually rolled her eyes. And doubled down. ZERO customer service or pleasantries. I don't ask for a lot just a hello and welcome. She remainders unfriendly and bothered the whole time. The eye roll is what really got me. Don't know here name, no receipt or name tag. No conversation skills, no customer skills. We pay so much now so you can get $20 an hour instead of $7.25 snd all the increase in cost for a meal now I would like a simple hello, welcome and thank you. This is my go to drive through for a quick pick up for my son's dinner. They know my order and are always quick and friendly and the order is always correct. I like getting this option for him because it's not the regular old fried food (nothing wrong with that- believe me- we eat all kinds of food), just like to add a non "fast food" fast food option every once in a while. read more

This location is not my go to. However, they are close to work and a medium sandwich with chips is sometimes enough for two meals for me, so it's useful on a busy day. The food here is good, on par with other locations. They have a variety of sandwiches, salads, pasta and pizzas. The ingredients here are relatively fresh as well and the bread isn't stale. It's a good choice for a lunch that's filling and tasty. The issue with this location is the service. It's hit or miss and I just need more consistency than that. In fact, I've often stopped going here months at a time due to service alone. There were three visits where they mixed up my order. When I get a sandwich, I always get the chicken. On those occasions they gave me turkey and turkey was also on the receipt, so the mistake was with the order taker, not the kitchen. The first time, a fluke perhaps? After the second time it occurred I started double checking the receipt and made them fix it while I waited. They weren't super apologetic about it. This was a big deal to me because athough their chicken is really good quality, I do not like turkey deli meat and theirs tastes terrible in comparison to the chicken. Then there are periodic issues with getting customization or ingredients right. This happens in drive thrus and I haven't kept count because that is to be expected from time to time. What I don't appreciate is when I get attitude for a customization. I used to get a water when I didn't already have some at work. I got such a third degree so often, I just stopped bothering. I get being worried the customer might think it's free, but there is informing me there is a fee and then there is eye rolling and telling me I should just get a soda. Really? Did I ask you for an opinion on my hydration level? What's with the attitude on such a simple request, especially when I say I'm not worried about the cost, I would just like medium water. They give me the same headache if I ask for it with no veggies. Sometimes I know that I am not going to be able to eat it right away and I don't want veggies getting soggy. Why is this a problem? Responses range from confused to incredulous. Today it was 'Is that all?? Don't you want pesto or something?' The manager needs to train them on reigning in the commentary and providing service instead. There's plenty of other places in the area to get lunch, so I'll keep this an occasional stop. Besides, there is an awesome location near my home that has great, fresh ingredients with friendly service. Food is still good, service isn't always great but it's a few minutes out of your day to deal with. Don't get a large drink here, the lids always pop off. She looked mad, grabbed the tea, dumped it and refilled the cup with ice and tea. When I got back to my office, I took a sip of the tea and she had given me sweet tea. I contacted Door Dash. They only wanted to issue a credit. I dont want to order from them anymore. Half the time, the order is wrong. My sandwich had mustard. I'm allergic so I had to throw the sandwich away. Or they deliver only part of the order. Or Door Dash delivers to the wrong address. Or their driver calls you cause he cannot find your address. I'm not going to talk about the food, which is excellent, but the service. I've been to this location 3 or 4 times now, and each time, I've been impressed by the positive attitudes of the staff. They're always very friendly and polite, and make it a very welcoming deli. I went there for lunch today and noted that one of the young ladies was smiling as she wiped down a table. She wasn't assisting any one specific customer, just cleaning a table, but still smiling as she did so. That impressed me. If you're looking for a great place to visit for a great sandwich, I cannot recommend this location highly enough. read more

The food is as good as any other Schlotzsky's. The service is mediocre, at best. My family and I went in to eat lunch yesterday. I ordered a sandwich with extra meat, and paid for extra meat. It didn't seem as if any extra was put on the sandwich and asked to speak with the manager. He wasn't at all engaged in the discussion and at one point walked away while I was talking with him (it wasn't a heated discussion at all, just normal dialogue). I've been waiting for this outlet to open for months! Finally, on the Friday before Halloween, I drove through. First of all, plenty of good sandwich choices. I picked the French Dip one. Turns out, the little container with the dipping "jus" was exceedingly well designed for carry-out. Not a drop of it leaked out. Amazing the things engineers can design. Tasty? Check. Hot? Check. Fresh? Check. Ample serving size? Check. Value for the money? Check. No wait, cash. =) And there's a Cinnabon built right into this location. So, dessert-wise, it's a win-win! read more

This was my first time going to any Schlotzsky's and although I can't attest to all the other ones, if they're anything like this one, then I am a Schlotzsky's fan for life. Went during lunch and my mother and I were first in line for the lunch rush. For some reason our food took longer than everyone else's so I had to get up and ask where my food was. Finally got our food and I thought it was great for a fast casual sandwich shop. The chicken mac was very good and I ordered a sandwich that had avocado (name slips my mind) and it was actually a fresh avocado. As we were eating one of the workers came and gave us two mini Cinnabons and apologized for the wait which was so nice of them. So 4 stars for great customer service and beating my food expectations. The drive in is speedy, but you better check your order before you leave - I've been given the wrong chips, no chips, once I even was given a Cinnabon instead of my sandwich.
