We ate pretty early around 5pm, and it was very empty, which was nice because it meant our food came fast. We tried the chicken shawarma bowl and the beef shawarma bowls. The food tasted delicious, but did seem a little less fresh, like maybe it had been sitting for a while, which would make sense because it wasn't exactly prime dinner hour yet, so maybe perhaps left from lunch? Either way, the portions were great, enough to take home leftovers. And the flavor of the meat was superb. They were so warm and kind to our family, especially our two year old. I appreciated the thoughtful touches the staff added to make our dining experience special. It definitely gave the cozy feeling of a mom and pop diner but mediterranean style! I loved it. I think this is the beef and chicken combo. I've had several different dishes - all delicious!

The kind of relationship where you don't even look at the menu anymore because you already know what you're ordering. Recently, though, I felt a restlessness. A whisper in my soul that said: maybe there are other pizzas out there. So, like any emotionally mature adult, I did not go to therapy. I went to Jet's Pizza. At first it was innocent. A "friend" recommended it. I told myself it was just a taste test, purely academic, for research purposes only. But then I had a second slice. And a third. And suddenly I wasn't asking "should I do this" anymore, I was asking "why didn't anyone tell me pizza could have corners." Because here's the thing nobody warns you about: Jet's Pizza is a square. Eight corners. EIGHT. Do you know what that means? That means more crust to cheese ratio, more edge pieces, more of the good stuff, and mathematically speaking, roughly 700% more romance per slice. I was not prepared. My tastebuds filed for emancipation from my previous relationship without even consulting me. Where have you been all my life, Jet's Pizza?? You geometric temptress. You saucy little parallelogram of passion. I didn't choose you, you cornered me. Literally. Eight times. I'm sorry, Enzo's. It's not you, it's me. It's actually mostly the geometry. We can still be friends. I'll still swipe right on a Tuesday night when I'm feeling nostalgic, but I can't promise you exclusivity anymore, because there's a square shaped homewrecker in my fridge and frankly, I've made my peace with it. Damn you, Jet's. You delicious, saucy, right angled seductress. Take my heart. Take my Friday nights. Just leave me the corner pieces.

While I wasn't in town for this, I knew I had to add it to my food tour. I initially came here at 10am becuase that's what their website and the doors said, but they didn't open until 11 multiple days in a row, which was disappointing. I went nearby to get a coffee and when I came back they were very busy, so I guess everyone knew the correct hours except me. It's been so long since I've had this I didn't even remember what I used to like so I went with 2 of their classics. Ham & Cheese original, and a Deluxe Original. Sweet, savory Ham. Airy soft bread, perfect bites. The deluxe add roast beef was a bit more to handle, but ultimately very deluxe with the roast beef (closer to North Shore than Arbys), great ham, and the salami is a nice touch. I remember not liking the olives that much back in the day, but I liked how it melted into the cheese and with a more mature palate (20 years later) I really enjoyed it. After all these years I still can not place the secret sauce (very mayo, mustard, tangy, could use some sweetness since I know they already have mustard). Washed red onions, thing crunchy shredduce. I wish the tomato was salted. It wasn't hot enough to go strawberry lemonade or sweet tea, but the fountain drink was well mixed and carbonated. Service was a little slow, especially making my pecanbon which was excellent. I also took a 6 pack to go. I can see myself coming here regularly if I lived here becuase they defintiely left a hole in the sandwich game in California.
