Normally, I don't consider people from St. Louis to be credible deli evaluators, but I was desperate and made the hour drive to Grapevine. We got there at 11:15 and the line was nearly to the door. Within 30 minutes, it was well out into the street. That was a promising sign. The sandwich menu covered the entire wall over the counter. Lots of non-New-York sandwiches like Cubans, gyros, etc, but over in the left corner were the classic Ruebens and pastramis. I went for the latter. A REAL NY deli usually has a few soups like split pea and chicken noodle and matzoh. No soups. Bummer. They had a half dozen sides - 3 kinds of potato salads and a few slaws. I went with the German potato salad. The drink option was spartan - they tossed a styrofoam cup at me and pointed to the soda fountain. The pastrami sandwich was OK for Texas. A SUPER pastrami sandwich on hard rye can get me moaning like Meg Ryan in "When Harry Met Sally" -- only I don't have to fake it. The German potato salad was watery and bland - I should have gone with the mustard potato salad. Turnaround was on the slow side. Napkins = paper towel roll on table. Flimsy plasticware. The overall vibe was affordable utilitarian. I'll give the sandwich a 4, everything else a 3. Next time I'll drive the extra half hour to Cindi's.

No More Brunch - at least on Sundays - Website not updated yet…read more Must be a new thing because in the short time we were there, a couple other tables came in then left once they found out the Brunch Menu was not available. We were starving so stayed and had catfish plate and smoked turkey sandwich. This is the first time we were not super satisfied with our meals. Maybe it was because we were looking forward to brisket tacos & chicken & waffles. We had great service from Nathan! We grabbed some meat to bring home. We were very warmly greeted by a gentleman who I think must be an owner or major stakeholder. He gave us a quick history of the place and was fast to recommend the prime rib po boy sandwich. We ordered one to split, and it came with seasoned fries. The sandwich came out quickly, and the meat was tender with just the right amount of slightly spicy horseradish sauce. Yum. I definitely want to come back for the signature prime rib on a Friday or Saturday. That meatloaf sounds tempting too, and the brisket mac and cheese caught my eye. Looks like I will need to come back a few times.

I asked her if she could help me thinking we would meet as I got to the registers. Instead she said yes and I was put in a position where I needed to talk much louder than I felt comfortable. I asked if she could come a little closer and she reluctantly took a few steps. Now I feel as if there's something wrong with me so she didn't want to get to close. I said never mind and found another employees who could be helpful. When I went back to self check out she got behind me and I felt watched. We instinctively know when we're being watched. So I got all my things and went to the line. This clerk was also talking a bit loud. I told him I may not have brought enough. He immediately started telling me what the bill total. I tried interrupting because he was going tell everyone in the front my situation. I said the dogs may have to wait for their treat. I asked him to ring it up last. He was talking while I was explaining so he may not have heard me. Unfortunately the bill did go over and I needed to take something off. While looking I noticed the dogs treats were rung up. I repeated what I said earlier. He corrected me by telling me I didn't say that. I'm irritated at this point so I correct him. We both left it alone. I found him to be a courteous and professional. It just wasn't okay to tell me I didn't say something. You're basically calling me a liar. He could be a little more aware of how his voice carries when dealing with sensitive situations.

The drive was a bit out of the way for us, but it was totally worth it! After waking in, we were instantly greeted. The woman behind the counter was friendly and helpful. My daughter and I both ordered the salad bar and my son had his usual kids cheese pizza. The salad bar was clean and stocked well. All ingredients were fresh and neatly displayed. Everything tasted perfect. My daughter had the potato salad for the first time and fell in love with it. I think she made a trip back to get another plate or two of it. I absolutely love the wide variety of ingredients to choose from, and everything is FRESH! Jason's Ginger muffins they are the perfect sweetness and a must have with every visit. I could literally eat them all day. My kids both love the free soft serve Ice cream. The store was clean during my visit and there is plenty of seating, even if you have a large group. Overall, we had a great experience at this location. Great customer service and delicious healthy food. Highly Recommend!

While I wasn't in town for this, I knew I had to add it to my food tour. I initially came here at 10am becuase that's what their website and the doors said, but they didn't open until 11 multiple days in a row, which was disappointing. I went nearby to get a coffee and when I came back they were very busy, so I guess everyone knew the correct hours except me. It's been so long since I've had this I didn't even remember what I used to like so I went with 2 of their classics. Ham & Cheese original, and a Deluxe Original. Sweet, savory Ham. Airy soft bread, perfect bites. The deluxe add roast beef was a bit more to handle, but ultimately very deluxe with the roast beef (closer to North Shore than Arbys), great ham, and the salami is a nice touch. I remember not liking the olives that much back in the day, but I liked how it melted into the cheese and with a more mature palate (20 years later) I really enjoyed it. After all these years I still can not place the secret sauce (very mayo, mustard, tangy, could use some sweetness since I know they already have mustard). Washed red onions, thing crunchy shredduce. I wish the tomato was salted. It wasn't hot enough to go strawberry lemonade or sweet tea, but the fountain drink was well mixed and carbonated. Service was a little slow, especially making my pecanbon which was excellent. I also took a 6 pack to go. I can see myself coming here regularly if I lived here becuase they defintiely left a hole in the sandwich game in California.
