Westchester Diner is a mega diner with an extensive menu that has just about everything you could want. They're under new management, but since this was my first time here, I can't compare it to before. That said, I thought the food was great, the restaurant was clean and the staff was very welcoming. Service was quick, and the waiters checked on us regularly. The wings were fantastic especially for a diner. I was really impressed! My only small complaint is that I wish the waiter had mentioned how large the side of fries would be. I ended up with a full plate, which was way more than I needed. Would definitely come back!

As a local I hadn't been to this diner in 6+ years- poor food quality, sanitary issues and better options in the area. After hearing some good things about the new ownership and menu, we gave it another try and wow! All of food was spectacular. The salad was fresh and the quesadilla was one of the best I've had. The staff was also very kind and attentive. So happy to have another good local option! Now if only they went back to open 24 hours!

Sherry mushroom caramelized onion gravy was so savory.

Waiter was very rude. We didn't receive all of our order. Coffee cup was dirty. Portions quite small.

3/18/2025: I sincerely hope to return back on here to give an updated review!…read moreLet's start with the easy positives: parking is NEVER an issue as you have an entire lot sharing that of Stop n Shop. Food is always served in a timely manner. It is served hot and flavorful. Now,onto the negatives: I know everyone has a not so great start of the workday/morning, but our server today named M*r** gave us the impression that she didn't want to be there. I cannot EVEN call it "businesslike or professional". She didn't offer any words back other than what was spoken to her. No "good morning" no smile, and never ONCE checked our table to even see a simple thing as a coffee refill. The busboy was the opposite accommodating one who gave the coffee and the take-out box that we needed. When we asked him, he gladly helped us. It didn't stop there! Now onto the male, who I've never seen before, cashier. Didn't say a word during the ring up. Matter of factly handed the receipt and the pen for my signature. Still saying nothing. Here I'm paying the establishment patronizing Pastels --- finally a delayed low tone "thank you" as I gave the receipt back. Ok, yes, you're doing your job. In a TIME where it is difficult to both find and retain a job, at least act like you want to be there. We felt almost regrettable for have chosen Pastels today. Future orders when we decide to have their food again will be via DoorDash etc to avoid same, for now Not a pleasant experience today.

A man came out with two menus and put them down on the table. He didn't say hello, welcome not even a smile. The waitress came over. We placed her order and never saw her again. Food was OK nothing to write home about. Nobody checked on us and nobody really even care that we were there or not Very disappointed. Won't be returning :(

Lots of issues here. I will start with the good:…read more The waitress was very nice as was the additional help. Now everything else: We ordered the cheese croquets. This might be just the taste, but nobody at our table liked them. Also - and this seems to be the specialty of the house - they were not particularly warm. We also ordered the nachos with the brisket chili. The plate was huge and the nachos were pretty good. Unfortunately, the chili was largely a rumor. Now for dinner. Oh boy. First the staff, including our waitress, brought us food for another table. We didn't realize it right away, because the other table ordered a couple of items we did. Then we did get our food. We had a couple of the brisket grilled cheeses. These were tasty, but again, with precious little meat in them, and not hot. We had a smash burger order - COLD. Two mushroom truffle burgers - also cold and one was severely undercooked. We were going to a show so we suffered with it. The fries were a hit by the way. I ordered the salt caramel gelato. I've had similar many times. This was overly salty. I was very excited to go here, but unfortunately, quality flew the coop at Birdsall.

Even though I'm rating this at 3 stars, I'd really like to go back here and give it another try…read more Went with a group and we all got different things -- but one thing we all agreed on is that the food is heavy and in some cases greasy. If that's your thing, then 4+ stars! Will also give a big thumbs up to the decor -- loved what was on the walls and the floors looked like they'd recently been redone. Various dishes our group had included a breakfast sandwich with sausage; an omelette, which was probably the healthiest option of what folks got; a cheeseburger; someone else got a French dip kind of sandwich. French fries were fought over -- so also a thumbs up for them. Again, I was the outlier in our group and in other reviews so I do plan to return to give it another chance. Check out the menu and other reviews and maybe you'll give it four or more stars!

The chicken tacos are my absolute favorite. They're well seasoned, juicy, and never dry. Pair them with the chips and house made guacamole (definitely not store bought), and you've got a perfect meal. I also recommend the chicken burrito, which is huge, flavorful, and satisfying every single time. The prices are very affordable, and the portions are generous. You really get your money's worth here. Whether you're grabbing takeout or sitting down for a casual meal, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The staff is always friendly and helpful, which just adds to the charm. This place is a hidden gem, and I can't recommend it enough to anyone in the area or just passing through. There's a big stage and fab lighting throughout...looks like a great place to enjoy some live entertainment. We went before a (Paramount) show and sampled the pizza, Brussels sprouts, wings and specialty cocktails. Our friends had pasta dishes that received rave reviews. Service was very friendly but since it was on the busy side, the food took a little while (which was totally fine since we had plenty of time before the show started). Really enjoyed my meal and I'll be sure to visit again.

We tend to follow the local cover band Run For Cover, and with them talking about this place on their podcast, we decided to make the drive from Connecticut to go see them play here. We came for the music, so I'll mention the stage first. I'd say there isn't a bad seat in the house, but there are. You can scoot your chair, though, so I'll say there isn't a bad table in the house. Acoustics are nice, and the stage lighting doesn't usually move around and shine directly into your retina. Table service keeps the food and drink coming so you don't miss a minute. Now, onto the food. Their pizzas are made from scratch with their house-made sourdough starter, and it sounds like they do a better job of keeping it healthy than I do. (I wonder if I can take some home. I should ask next time.) The result is a pizza crust that is light and airy, but is dense enough to provide what The Sporkful calls "toothsinkability." They don't put the kitchen sink on their pizzas, so don't expect the crust to flop over the entire time you're holding your slice. There are plenty of special pizzas, or you can build your own. Each one has a fully-cooked but not burnt crust, pretty close to the classic New York style that's an hour south. It's hard to resist a good pizza, so we haven't tried too much of the rest of the menu. Our forays into the appetizer section have been great, and the dishes I see pass by all give my eyeballs a feast. The craft beer selection is a little thin, with a list of five or six regional ones scrawled in chalk on one wall. Still, if you like IPA's, lagers, or ales, you should find at least one you'll like. Street parking can be a pain, but there is a parking garage a few blocks away that's free at night. EV owners, you'll have to fight over a double-corded L2 ChargePoint station around the corner. (Get with the times, Peekskill!) Fortunately, I think it's free for the first few hours, so consider yourself lucky to get a plug!
