Was passing through the area and wanted a cup of coffee. I had bookmarked this place on Yelp, due to the great ratings. Located in a downtown area, place is pretty big, with a lot of cool seating. Woman working behind the counter was friendly and worked me through their coffee choices. I went with their house dark roast, they roast their own beans. They also use real mugs for customers that are staying to enjoy the coffee. That really adds to the experience. Coffee was delicious, cafe was a great place to sit and relax. The service was very friendly and so very sweet when ordering and asking about the menu. Even for me an outsider visiting the area felt like local here. Just had a mixed berry mango smoothie and it was just right amount of sweet and bursting with fresh fruit favor, plus the cup it was served was huge, it felt bottomless trying to drink it up. I loved the local decor and feel of places were had retro and modern sitting and tables. Also the refrigerator magnets they had for sell were very funny. Came in on a Saturday mid day. They were busy but not crazy busy. Our order was taken promptly and the gentleman taking our order was funny and helpful. The ambiance of the shop is homey. Mix matched table and chairs but clean. Plenty of space to sit. There is also a self service bar with condiments, straws, cup covers, milks, and napkins. Someone was constantly monitoring and refilling. Our food came out quickly. First was my marshmallow iced latte with oatmilk. This was spot on. Not too sweet but could taste the quality of the espresso. Then came the food. The piggly wiggly (ham and cheese panini) and the early bird (crepe with bacon and cheese). Good coffee in a comfy old building with friendly staff. What's not to like? We hung out at Peekskill Coffee often while visited our daughter recently. We're always on the lookout for local coffee places and this fits the bill quite nicely. They roast their own coffee and it is very good. Espresso drinks were also good. We ordered a couple of food items, that were freshly prepared and served right off the panini press/crepe griddle. The Apollo panini was good but the fontina cheese is a bit too mild to hold up to the other ingredients. The Praying Mantis crepe was delicious. Bacon, sun-dried tomato, goat cheese and spinach. How could it not be? All of the staff are friendly, take the time to say hi, more than happy to explain the coffee and food items. I've added Peekskill Coffee to my list of great coffee shops I've visited while traveling. read more

Looking for a decent GF place to wait for a friend in the hospital, I landed at Peekskill Coffee. I really liked the initial vibes, with plenty of seating that catered not only to those with laptops and those who were passing through! I went with the barista's recommendation of the Praying Mantis Crepe, and an iced oatmilk London Fog. While the latte was slightly weaker than I'm used to, it had a decent flavor. I was very excited for the crepe, until I saw it. It looked very plain and dry. I definitely wish I had looked up photos before ordering. While I did really enjoy the flavors, I found myself wishing there was some kind of sauce in the side, to help with the texture of the crepe itself. But it was very filling! That being said, it's lovely to see so many gluten free options on the menu, so if I'm ever in the area again, I could see myself visiting Peekskill Coffee again! read more

Peekskill coffee is a super cute coffee shop and restaurant. I got their latte with raspberry syrup, which I've never seen before. I also got one savory crepe and one sweet crepe, the berry bomb. One crepe is the perfect serving for one person. I wish the savory crepe had more chewy cheese, but it was filling and tasty!! The berry bomb wasn't overly sweet, which is good. I really like the vibe of the store and the surrounding area. The staff are friendly, and I would recommend this place for brunch or as a place to work, as there were multiple people with their laptops. read more

This was a cool coffee shop in downtown. It had board games, merchandise for purchasing, etc that made it seem welcoming and interactive. The barista was super friendly and welcoming as well. We talked to him for awhile about the coffee shop and what they do. We went on a Saturday morning and most of the seats were full so they seem like they do well. I ordered iced caramel latte with almond milk. The drink was delicious. They also offer food teams for purchase. I ended up trying their berry crepes. They were made fresh and great. Another city, another opportunity to find amazing coffee. I searched for such a spot while visiting the Hudson Valley last year and Peekskill popped up. Though 45 minutes away, I knew anything worth its weight in coffee beans is worth the drive. And what a beautiful drive it was! Two lane back roads for most of the trip. But I digress, let's get to Peekskill. The spot is hard to miss. Signage, paintings, outdoor seating, and of course a endless line of people walking out with a beverage in their hand. Though there is parking immediately around the corner, I found a public (and free) lot just two blocks away. After a brief walk around downtown, it was time to treat my taste buds. Oh the open door experience. That's when you open the front door of a cafe-coffee shop-restaurant-etc. and the sights-sounds-aromas wash over you. This was definitely a open door experience. Immediately I saw their intentionality in adhering to the nostalgia of the location. Walls and ceilings and flooring were preserved well and the eclectic furniture added to the ambiance. Music played softly, conversations were a buzz, the grinder was preparing beans for pour overs and espresso. The smells of milk frothing and waffles coming to life were at the forefront. I knew it was time to settle in for a while. My standard, the Americano, started me off. A tear almost rolled off my cheek as I sipped the last drop. I immediately went up to order a pour over, and get coffee beans for when I returned home. I thought that would be enough. I thought wrong. I decided to get a bag of beans of the coffee I had just completed, some stickers, and a cold brew. I began to wonder if I would ever leave, or sleep that night. Eventually I did both. But before I did, I had the good fortune of getting to chat with the apprentice roaster who did the espresso beans that were in my Americano. I was able to tell him without reservation how perfectly balanced the roast was (not to mention the shot pull). He smiled with pride and thanked me for the feedback. Honestly, I could have spent an entire day there (especially not having ordered a waffle or crepe), but commitments beckoned. Until next time, make a visit in my stead. read more

Peekskill Coffee House has reopened after undergoing a recent renovation. Happily the menu and coffee options remain unchanged. The space looks brighter, fresher and roomier despite accommodating a new beverage chiller. Re-organization of furniture and the relocation of cutlery and napkin stations helped to create the added sense of space. A new modern couch now takes centre stage. However the quirky decor, vibrant color palette, and cute retro furniture which gives this place a special charm is thankfully intact. This is a proper coffee house with experienced baristas preparing your favorite brew. We love their cappuccinos. Randy always makes a good cuppa, very smooth with a nice layer of milk foam. We usually order their crepes or waffles which are made fresh right when you order. I like my crepes with just a light dusting of powdered sugar. For special occasions, we would order The Ferrero (with nutella and bananas) or the American Pie with apples, cinnamon, caramel sauce and ice cream, both are also equally enjoyable. Since my original debacle of a visit a few years back, I've been in here more and more to the point of saying this is my "go to place!" For a coffee place there never seems to be more than two dripping at any given time, but I have had them make me other blends so I guess it can be done. Limited food menu but 'plenty' to choose from for breakfast or lunch, and on the healthier side as well. Waiting for food can be a bit lengthy on the weekend. Right outta the movies! This is exactly what you want from a local coffee shop-- super friendly service plus a large variety of food that goes beyond your typical coffee house. Plus swaggy merch, quaint vintage intentionally mis-matched furniture, and of course fun seasonal drinks. It's kinda rare to find a coffee shop with food for every dietary preference/restriction. PCH has plenty of vegan and gluten free options- there really is something for everyone! GET THE CREPE. Just go for it! Their gluten free batter is so good. I don't know how they do it!! You can select from the menu or "build your own"-- they even have vegan cheese options (herbed vegan cheese spread is YUM). Gluten free waffle is also delish! They do have a decent selection of grab-n-go options if you're in a hurry (like cookies, cakes, and muffins). But they usually only have one gf option- a raspberry oat bar. There always seems to be a unique seasonal drink special or two. Right now they have "chai-der" chai + apple cider. I haven't tried it (I'm more of a cold brew gal) but it seems to be a popular choice. Also tempting is a huge shelf of their merch (coffee mugs, travel mugs, hoodies, baseball caps, pins, etc.). Indoor and outdoor seating. Street parking, or park in the lot across the street (free on weekends and from 6pm onward, otherwise paid- with exact change, card, or app). Firstly they do have some decent vegan food. Yes it could be a major pain in the butt to be a vegan, however it's better for the planet and it's better for your health. We have been vegan for over 30 years. Don't blame us for hundred years ahead of our time. So they can be very successful in serving their vegan meals in the most uncomfortable tight chairs and claustrophobic tables but the one problem we have is the so-called fresh juice menu? This is not Brandy you are not making a "mother" . Is it really that much trouble to clean the very dregs out of their single serving plastic container for these juices? You can't just keep adding fresh juice to juice without building up bacteria. Yes we have enjoyed ourselves here but always find ourselves stuck at some tiny table and we are not large people. At the time I went there for years I weighed 93 pounds and my husband is very thin as well but he is 6 feet tall excuse him. It's just common sense to do the things we urge them to do, and total laziness and also dangerous to the public health to not even clean out the so-called fresh juice or whatever the heck it was we ordered twice twice. On the first sip we could tell it was spoiled, and there were bubbles coming up which always means that it has some kind of bacteria in it. Everyone that works in service should be required to take a health sanitation class. I think most of you would be shocked if you knew what really went on behind the scenes of even some of the finest restaurants, the most expensive ones . Its artsy, funky, fabulous history draws you in as soon as you walk into those doors. The staff is absolutely amazing and knows their regular customers and treats the new ones like family. Such a fun environment. Let's talk about coffee. ITS AMAZING. And the best part is you can take bulk coffee beans home or in small pre packed batches. Choose your style, your roast and take it home as a little souvenir of this place. Food: two words. BELGIAN WAFFLE. Oh em geeeeeeeee. These waffles are the perfect fluff and you can add on real maple syrup to go with it. Just absolutely amazing. Their menu is quite simple and they have other portions such as crepes and other yummy things. The spinach and feta crepe was phenomenal. Just woooow. There are also other available pastry goods such as muffins and cookies. Bottom line: this coffee house in the heart of Peekskill will take your heart. When I woke up this morning, I was in the mood to visit a local coffeehouse. The Peekskill Coffeehouse is a staple within the community around Peekskill for those who love cafés. The coffeehouse is located in Downtown Peekskill. This area is one that has experienced growth and redevelopment since the times when I grew up in the area. The building is located across the street from the Paramount Theater and near the Church of the Assumption. The exterior of the building reminds me of the Flariron Building located in Manhattan. When you first walk into the coffeehouse, one is able to get alternative and antique vibes. There is a chalkboard behind the counter with some of the menu options and there are bakery items near the counter. The staff this morning were pleasant. There were various options for waffles, crepes, coffees and teas, however, I wanted a simple coffee with a savory crepe. I ended up ordering a hot, drip coffee with a splash of soy milk and also an Adam & Eve crepe. My drip coffee was rather simple, which was exactly what I wanted this morning. The Adam & Eve crepe had an intriguing combination of ingredients, so I was drawn to ordering it. The Adam & Eve crepe contained cubes of turkey meat, goat cheese, figs, and caramelized onions. I love the concept! The figs and the caramelized onions provided just a bit of sweetness to the crepe. I just wish that there was more to fill in the crepes, especially for the price of the crepe. In the future, I would like to try the Belgian waffles. While I was dining here, I noticed that a few other patrons had ordered them and they seemed to be satisfied with them. Could not be happier with this place-my first time here as I was doing some errands for work in the area and wanted a cappuccino. The staff/owner are super friendly and nice--the layout is awesome and the place is super chill-the coffee was great and made with care. I see some of the people seem to be regulars which is awesome and are chatting with the staff. I was able to get work done while having my coffee in a relaxed and nice environment. They also have food on their menu and next time I want to try their iced tea and hot tea as well. I was able to find some free parking up the street on a residential street so I didn't have to keep feeding the meters in the downtown area where the shop is located. Definitely work checking this place out-it is so nice to be out and about working in a café rather than always working from home in the same environment these days. They have some cool art on the walls too and you get 2 hrs free wifi access with a code they will give you when you buy your food/drink. It feels great to support a local shop that is working hard to do the right thing-they have great COVID protocols in place too with social distancing when waiting online and the tables are spread out--you can order in advance from their website as well. read more
