I've been coming here for years now and can't believe this is the first time I write a review! :o Peekskill Coffee is a fun little coffee house in the heart of Peekskill. Located right across the street from the Paramount Theater in the Downtown Peekskill area. It has a somewhat hipster vibe to it with an eclectic decor. There are always local musicians playing and the walls displaying work by local artists which they change up every month. It's a friendly atmosphere with an amazing staff. I love the fact that none of the furniture matches, the tables are different sizes as well, which is actually great for accessibility! So definitely not your cookie cutter coffee house. There is a small bookshelf with some old books and board games which lends to the eclectic and retro theme of this place. They have a great selection of coffees, beverages, smoothies, delicious crepes, pastries, paninis, and salads. Most of the time I'm here I order the Roma Panini and a Matcha Latte, iced or hot, depending on the weather. And they have their own ground roasted coffee from regions like Brazil, Colombia, Honduras, Guatemala, etc., and they also have Peekskill Coffee branded merch! So if you ever happen to find yourself in downtown Peekskill, do yourself a favor and drop into Peekskill Coffee for some great coffee, food, and chill vibes. read more

Love this place! Thanks to Yelp I found the coolest little place to stop for coffee and a snack on our way from Bear Mountain to the Great Pumpkin Blaze in Croton. Located across from the Paramount theatre this bustling coffee shop had a consistent line at the register for over the over I was there. The workers there are super friendly and fun. Patient with those who had coffee questions. I had a delicious pumpkin latte along with a sugar crepe. Cooked perfectly and didn't take long at all The place has plenty of tables to sit at. Most of them are old retro kitchen tables reminiscent of the 50's. There is also outside seating for better weather. I really enjoyed my stop here and will return when I'm back in the area read more

The employees working the cart today at around 11am are the reason for this review. I asked for two cups of water after waiting outside (they are doing renovations so they are temporarily operating out of a cart outside, which is fine) in the sun for 10 minutes for two coffees. I was told I had to get back in line and pay for the cups of water. I've never been to a coffee shop where I've been asked to pay for a cup of water after ordering coffee. I feel like most places give cups of water to people even if they don't order something. Additionally, being told to get to the back of the line to place the order for the cups of water after waiting 10 minutes for the coffee I ordered felt a bit pointed. What was weird was that the employee I asked hesitated when I asked and looked to the other employee, who thought for a moment before explaining that if I wanted the water I'd need to get back in line and pay. It felt rude and dismissive, and when I asked why, they thought for a moment and explained it was because I had to pay for the cup because cups cost money - even though I just paid $11.92 for two average cappuccino's. Either this is an actual policy of the coffee shop, or the employees make the decision on the basis of each individual person. read more

Crepes - savory and sweet - are delicious, and after all this time I've still not tried their waffles. Just moved to the area , first time here the ambiance was great however the person who started taking our order seemed to be new, or something because they had no idea what we were asking for. We had to show the menu to them multiple times. We were then told 25 minute wait for a crepe at 10am on a Saturday while the shop was not full. Regardless $37 later we were willing to give it a try given the hype surrounding this place. When we got our food we were so excited to try it only to be utterly disappointed with everything served. The taste was underwhelming, crepe was falling apart, cookie was rock hard and latte tasted awful. Compared to other coffee houses we've been to we do not recommend this place at all. read more

Should you go hiking around Peekskill, you might want to pass by this coffee shop for some fuel charge. The place has a very chill and friendly ambience. The indoor tables are spaced widely apart if you'd like to eat or drink inside, but if the weather permits you should try and sit out in the sunny plaza. I got the waffle with bananas and Nutella and was very pleasantly surprised by it. It was crunchy and airy, and not soggy and soft. The portion is pretty big, and some folks might even want to split one. It's not a five star rating from me because I went there to try the famous crepes, but when I got to the front of the line was told there is 40-minute wait due to many online and onsite orders, and they only have two hot plates for making crepes on. I guess next time I might try and order one online and by the time I walk to the shop it'll be done. read more

It is a nice vibe and a good place to have some good coffee. Their food offerings are much greater than most coffee shops. Lotta folks hang out here for long periods. I have been here several times. Ordered crepes (ok) and waffles (very good). Service is good, but when they get busy, things can get a little backed up. The cool thing is though, they host live music on the weekends. First impressions are eclectic in an odd sort of way- but it flows. Mismatch furniture, (faux) copper tin ceilings and tchotchkes, makes up the style here. Aside from their Organic International Coffees, Menu has Waffles, different flavor Teas, Chai and other beverages. Crepes on the other hand, were abundant with their Sweet and Savory ingredients. No table service, you place your order, pay, wait and finally pick up your order at the counter. Prices for breakfast, seemed ok. But if you want toppings, it's not complimentary and it'll cost you: whip cream- 50¢, maple syrup-75¢. A little odd. We had their Waffle with Strawberry & Lingonberry Compote- which was good. I also ordered a "Hot Chocolate", but it was a sad, watery mess and lacked substance- and only went for the whip. Why am I being generous with the 4 stars? The place is not horrible. Style is clever for these neck of the woods and folks at the counter were pleasant. It's a funky kind of place. If you're in the neighborhood and want to chill for a bit or get together with friends over coffee, then this is your place. Its always nice to stop by this Peekskill Coffee, not only because its a local favorite but also for a fresh cup of joe. My wife and I usually stop by every few weeks for a nice breakfast together. They have a good selection of breakfast/lunch items, the menu doesnt change, but I guess dont fix whats not broken. The staff is always friendly and the coffee house big enough to usually find seating. Its great for small groups but also if you just want a spot to have some coffee and catch up with a friend. There is street parking available in front, but there are also municipal parking all around town. read more

Was in town looking for apartments and stopped here for a quick bite. What a great little cafe! Super tall ceilings with lots of light. Tables spaced out so you don't feel like you're on top of other folks. Plenty of other seating if you're there doing some work or just soaking up the vibes. Staff was top notch, friendly and quick to be of service. It was a gal and two guys and I've never seen people who were happier to be working in a cafe. They engaged the guests and made everyone feel welcome. I ordered the Nutella and banana crepe which was HUGE and delicious. My partner had the Belgian waffle. Coffee was great and their music selection was on point! Lots of soul music from the 60s and 70s. The space has the vibe of an old school coffee shop - almost "Friends" era, and just as comfy as Central Perk. No minimalist Scandinavian hipsterdom here, more of an eclectic mix of random desks turned to tables (with hidden delights tucked in the drawers), homey couches and walls adorned with local art, all tucked into a beautiful building wedged into a triangular street corner -- Peekskill's own Flatiron Building. All the coffee drinks you'd expect are here, in addition to a few extra creative takes on the beverage. Behind the counter are various pastries and baked goods, and the the food menu features paninis, crepes, waffles and salads. Pro tip: you're not limited to the named menu items on the wall, you can design your own paninis/crepes/salads with whatever ingredients you like. Free wifi is available, just grab a passcode at the counter and get to interneting. Also, they have an internet printer service onsite too, great in those rare cases when you need a paper copy of something. The coffee house is also home to great musical performances weekly, which really adds to the 90's coffee shop vibe. That, combined with the great staff who will remember your name after one or two visits makes the Peekskill Coffee House a great asset to Peekskill and must visit for anyone who steps into the city limits. The only reason I avoided this place for a few years is because I stopped drinking coffee and I can be a stubborn Sicilian sometimes. The latter was a personal issue and it was my issue. If you're only grabbing a cup of roasted Joe and enjoying the quintessential coffee house atmosphere, you're likely to get a 5 star experience. By appearance alone the cafe almost shouts "I'm alternative yet community oriented, come one, come all". It's hard to not adore the mismatched slightly retro decor with the the less-than-perfect shabby chic flair and the friendly staff. Not even a trace of hipster-snob-city vibe here. All of us enjoyed the coffees, offered both hot, iced, in cappuccino and perk-you up espresso variants. However, once you get to the food, which we were eagerly anticipating after a less than par hotel breakfast; the experience falls short. I was elated to see crepes scrawled upon the chalkboard menu above the coffee counter. I opted for something savory. When it came out, the Adam and eve crepe looked good. The flavors were on point, but there wasn't enough inside. It was sparingly filled with turkey, goat cheese and caramelized onions. If this were a Wendy's commercial, an old lady would look inside the crepe and sternly say "Where's the beef??". The almond croissant was on the stale side. Should have opted for a scone instead. Belgian waffles smelled enticing and received compliments from my lovely dining companions. However, we learned that if you want syrup on your waffles it's an extra .75 cents. Unless it's non gmo rare organic syrup shipped straight from Canada that morning, I don't understand. Little diner packets of syrup at the milk station would suffice, no? After reading the reviews, I'm kicking myself for not getting a cappuccino, since they look so adorably decorated (I'm a sucker for that stuff).
