During my last visit, their payment system broke down after I had placed the order. They tried to reset, but it didn't work. I told them that I would gladly pay them on my next visit since I'm there with frequency, but they refused and actually took back my order that I'd already gotten. No trust in their customers, even ones that have been coming regularly for so long. Not even an apology when I went back two days later to pay them the money in cash. A loyal customer lost in one instance because Trailside does not understand the value of customer service and how that can affect its clientele.

It wasn't too crowded the day I was there but it's not a huge place. Prices are on the higher side, but what you'd expect at a quaint local shop. I wish I had a place like this in my neighborhood (in Danbury, not Manhattan) so I could stop by regularly.

This time I stepped away from my usual order and tried the Mediterranean Salad, and I'm glad I did! It comes topped with grilled chicken and is served with pita slices and hummus. Everything worked together perfectly--it was fresh, flavorful, filling, and just really good! My usual go-to, though, is The Hurdle--turkey, bacon, Gouda cheese, sesame ginger dressing, lettuce, and tomato on panini bread. I definitely customize mine : no tomato, extra bacon, no dressing, and I prefer it cold instead of hot. So good! I also had a mocha with an extra espresso shot and extra chocolate , while my daughter and my mom enjoyed breakfast. What really makes BeanRunner special is the atmosphere. You can sit inside or outside, and the whole place gives me a cool Brooklyn lounge/café feel. Inside, you have beautiful authentic brick walls, plants thoughtfully placed throughout the seating areas, and curated artwork displayed on the walls--some of which is even available for purchase. Smooth jazz and R&B playing in the background just adds to the vibe. They cater to and strongly support local artists and musicians which is very cool! There's also a back patio, a quieter separate seating room away from the main floor, and outdoor seating with umbrellas. The outdoor area gives me a little Fort Greene/Lafayette triangle vibe, which I really enjoy. And BeanRunner is more than just a café. They have live music on weekends, and from what I'm told, they have a GOOD time! They also host poetry slams and open mics, which adds even more character to the place. They serve desserts and smoothies too, so there's plenty beyond coffee and sandwiches. The location is tucked back on Esther Place in Peekskill, across from the large Assumption Church building, and that may honestly be BeanRunner's biggest disadvantage. I truly believe that if this place weren't so tucked away, they'd be packed every day. Great food, great coffee, beautiful atmosphere, music, art, plants, indoor and outdoor seating--BeanRunner has a little bit of everything. Definitely a Peekskill spot worth discovering! 5 stars from me!

The waitresses were very attentive, the layout was beautiful, and everything was clean and welcoming. The only little thing that bothered us was a fly that kept coming back to our table. The food, however, was fantastic! On our first visit, I had the Kimchi Bowl, my husband had the Steak & Eggs, my daughter had pancakes with strawberries, and my son had Chicken & Waffles. Everything was delicious! We enjoyed it so much that we came back on our last day, which was a Sunday around noon. This time, I had the Steak & Eggs, and let me tell you--breakfast of champions! My husband had the Breakfast of Champions, my son made his own burger, and my daughter had the Nutella crêpe with strawberries. Every single plate was left empty! We even had the pleasure of meeting the owner, who was so lovely and welcoming.
