This tea room is FABULOUS; from menu to ambience. The food and desserts are truly amazing as is the service. I celebrated my 60th birthday (Sept 14th) with 12 family and friends here. Hubby and I stopped in for lunch yesterday. What a fantastic gem this place is! We were seated in the window table! It was so cute & cozy!! Our server Juliana was fantastic! I had a few questions about the menu, she was very helpful and super attentive! The owner Vivian brought our drinks to the table and was very welcoming! I had the Reuben with a salad & my hubby had the Turkey Club with a salad as well. Everything was so so delicious. I've never had a Reuben with red cabbage before - I loved it & the cornbeef was cooked & sliced perfectly! The salad with the house dressing which was already on the table was so flavorful too. It included red peppers, a green olive, hearts of palm & a beet. I was so full from my lunch but wanted something sweet so we decided to try the banana pudding... O M G this was the best banana pudding I've ever had! It was very sweet and really hit the spot. There were nilla wafers & banana slices mixed in. I also ordered English breakfast tea. Wow‼ Kathleen's Tea Room exceeded all of my expectations. I haven't had a really nice cup of tea in quite some time, and we happened to find it completely on a whim by passing it while stopping briefly in Peekskill, and I am so glad that we did!! The decor is absolutely beautiful and it's really like taking a step back in time to the Victorian era. The molding, the decor, the tea pots and china, alongside the menu and huge selection of teas makes this spot absolutely amazing. I had the Irish Breakfast Tea and had the Swiss Cheese, Spinach, and Bacon Quiche with a cup of chicken soup and a mini salad. Even the dressing is made by Kathleen's and sit proudly in a bottle with her name on it. The vinaigrette dressing is flavorful and zesty. The chicken soup was hearty and so delicious. The quiche was above and beyond full of flavor and one of the best I've had in quite some time. The food really makes this tea room top notch. Lots of places have tea, but mixed with five star quality food and service and the ambiance, we have a win win!! Now my favorite part was definitely the scone with lemon curd and fruit. While I undoubtedly had no business ordering more carbs, how do you not get a scone with tea? The plan was to take a bite and take the rest home...yeah, that didn't happen. The scone was crispy and warm, fresh out of the oven, but it was also soft inside. With the lemon curd and butter...heaven. Kathleen's Tea Room sits across the street from across the street from one of my favorite restaurants in Peekskill so I've always been curious about it. I've never been to a tea room and it's not the type of place I would typically go to, but I was definitely pleasantly surprised by this place. From the outside it looks much smaller than it really is and there was much more seating available than I expected. When you walk in it kind of feels like your in a different era and has a very homey feel. The servers were very friendly and was actually able to squeeze us in without a reservation on a busy Saturday afternoon. I was actually surprised how good the food was. I was expecting little finger foods and expecting to still be hungry afterwards but I was definitely full at the end of the meal. We ordered the butternut squash soup and the chicken & rice soup which were both very good. The spinach and bacon quiche and the open Reuben sandwich were good as well. And of course you have to try the dessert scones, we ordered the trio. The tea was great as well. Overall, I can't wait to try this place a second time. read more

Simply put, Kathleen's Tea Room is our favorite lunch spot in Peekskill. It consistently delivers fantastic food with a touch of whimsy. That whimsy is evident from the first moment you approach the ivy adorned storefront on Main Street. When you walk through the door it's like you've stepped into an antique shop curated by Alice in Wonderland herself. Myriad tea kettles and other tchotchkes fill the room. Each table is topped with fresh flowers. Your eyes are drawn upwards to the late 19th century tin ceiling. If you're lucky enough to nab one of the elevated windows seats -- and you'll need to be lucky, reservations are highly recommended for this busy restaurant -- you'll really feel like you're dining in a storybook. Kathleen's is more than just atmosphere though. It just so happens to serve up some of the most delicious food in town.Ingredients are fresh, portions are generous, and each bite is filled with flavor. The menu consists largely of sandwiches, salads, soups, and quiche, along with some heartier entrees. Our go-to is one of the combos where you can get soup, salad (with killer caper berries) and either a half-sandwich or a quiche. To be honest, we wish their was a "super combo" where you didn't have to choose between the sandwich and the quiche because they're both so freaking good. For dessert, you just can't go wrong with Effie's Banana Pudding. And of course, there's the tea. We're not huge tea connoisseurs, but what we've had is great. They even offer a full afternoon tea, complete with a tower of mini-sandwiches, scones, and sweat treats along with pot of hot tea. We told you it was whimsical! Our only problem with Kathleen's? We wish it was open more! It's really a lunch place, closing at 5pm most days, and distressingly, closed on Sundays -- exactly when we'd be craving a Kathleen's brunch !On the flip side -- and we found out about this later than we would have wished -- they do offer delivery. So that's a nice way to add some class to your desk during the work week. Coffee is offered but not posted on the menu --- should be The decor is quaint resembling an Old World Coffee House someplace in Europe. I don't know who was more excited me or my toddler. I called for a reservation for two after I read it was recommended. I thought they would sit us by the window since both areas were empty but maybe you have to be specific when you call. The place is really cute. The decor is oh so fancy. My toddler loves Fancy Nancy and wanted to have a tea party with me. "NO BOYS" she says. The menu is great. Lots of tea options and everything on the food menu sounds divine. I settled on the Lady Hannah tea which has hints of strawberry, raspberry and blackberries and it's caffeine free (for the lil one) and the Turkey club sandwich with vegetable lentil soup and salad and a children's tea sandwich assortment plate. While you wait for your food, the tea arrives. The tables have sugar that looks like crushed up candies. I asked for honey in the front instead. Okay so the food.. The children's tea sandwich assortment is so cute! It brings nutella & banana, strawberry with cream cheese and pb&J sandwiches. You know I had a bite right? The jelly on the pb&J was so GOOD. It also brought a lot of fruit and some ritz crackers with chocolate chips. This was a huge hit, she loved everything! As for my food, I have to say the vegetable lentil was delicious!! There's nothing like a hearty soup to warm up the soul. I think it's a must try. The turkey sandwich was great too. The turkey is the thin deli kind. The salad was good too but didn't come with dressing. They only gave me two options for dressing-balasmic or vinegar. The service was alright. I wish they were more attentive being that there was only one table at the time we got there. It seems they were training someone and the main person was handling a lot on her own. My mother-in-law and daughters had been asking to go to this place for a long time. I sucked it up, made a reservation, put on a virtual skirt and shuffled them over to the restaurant. I must say, I was pleasantly surprised. The kids loved the sampler platter and the various teas they could order. I'm also a tea fan and found I could buy some to take home, which I did. I've come to Kathleen's for years. Not only is the food consistently amazing, but the overall experience for me is always special. I take my son for our little mommy son dates there. I have photos of him and I since he was 2. The place feels like you've stepped someplace else in time, almost a magical experience. I have never had a dish I didn't love here. Also, as a dessert lover, I have plenty to choose from. I have some very food picky friends that have lived in Peekskill 40+ years that had never been. After taking them there, they're also hooked. It's a great place, awesome food, and fun experience. We had the following, try to keep up..... spinach quiche, butternut squash soup, roast beef sandwich with horseradish and cheddar on a hero, open-faced Rueben with a side salad, (OMG Kathleen's salad dressing is AMAZING!) peach melba and strawberry shortcake. And yes, all sorts of teas. I love that the pastrami in my Rueben wasn't overly salty, as it tends to be at most restaurants. Everything was fantastic. We loved everything. And service was GREAT! OMG! Totally different from the norm. We each had a soup, half sandwich, mini salad combo. The butternut squash soup was great and not too sweet. The half sandwiches (on choice of bread) were right on. The smoked turkey was sliced thin and the cranberry mayo added to the flavor. He had the open faced Reuben. I never got a bite. The salad was small, not mini and even had hearts of palm and a caper berry! The tea cups and pots all around gave it a unique lunch experience! Nice change of pace!!! Rarely am I rendered speechless with the food quality of a restaurant. My husband and I visited Kathleen's while we were in town. Adorable little tea shop that feels like you're either in a doll house or a grandmother's cottage home. The staff is all very kind and attentive. The good... THE FOOD! My fiancé and I went to Kathleen's Tea Room during a trip to Bear Mountain. The ambience was really charming right off the bat, with tea sets and eclectic furniture all around. It almost felt like we were visiting grandma's cottage. We started off with some Pumpkin Tea (a seasonal special) and two soups - lentil and butternut squash, along with a fresh scone. We both got salad and sandwich duos. All the ingredients were fresh and everything, down to the butter for the scone, was homemade. All in all, an excellent experience with wonderful service - would love to come back here next time we're in town! read more

Attention tea lovers!! Splendiferous experience. The minute you walk in you feel that cozy happy feeling that makes you smile. The place is decorated beautifully with different teapots and teacups lining the walls. I popped in after having come from lunch so i missed out on their entrees but i can tell you about the tea and snacks. Tea... I ordered two pots. The first was the "paris" which was a black tea with vanilla and citrus flavors and the other "monks blend" blk tea with vanilla and a hint of grenadine. They were both delicious and the serve crystalized sugar which was a nice change. I had a scone with clotted cream and fresh fruit just to have the full experience. This would be a great place to have a mother-daughter afternoon or midday date idea. Hearts all around. This is one of the nicest tea rooms I have visited. Besides the great selection of teas, the food on the menu was better then many restaurants that I have eaten. Reservations book quickly at Kathleen's Tea Room, especially on the weekends. I was so excited when my aunt treated me here as a surprise one weekend. We were seated right by the window and surrounded by all sorts of cute porcelain teapot decor, flowery wallpaper, and ornate chairs and cushions. It's definitely a girl's thing to do - there were lots of women with the crazy hats having tea at one of the tables near by. I did get the impression that everyone at the other tables was sizing us up and watching us, a little bit odd. We both had the vanilla earl grey tea which was excellent. My aunt and I shared a sandwich for lunch and each got our own dessert because we both love the good stuff. The strawberry shortcake, served on a warm scone, was to die for. read more

This is one of my favorite places in Peekskill. From the artfully mismatched collection of cutlery and dishes to the excellent (especially for Peekskill) food, this place is full of character and I always recommend it to visitors. The staff are super friendly, and were very accommodating of our baby and stroller. I have heard from others that reservations are required to get in to this place, but perhaps we've just had good luck since we never had a wait when walking in. My principle complaint about Kathleen's is that they aren't open on Sundays. That seems like a huge missed opportunity. read more

Very cool and very eclectic. The place was packed on a Tuesday lunch when I went there. Which is a great sign because Tuesday's are normally slow days, and if they fill the place on a Tuesday it must be good. The sandwich I had was great with a small little side salad. But being a tea room they need to have great tea. The list is so long it's almost intimidating but they broke the teas into sections and had flavor profiles for each tea which makes it more manageable. After running an errand in Peekskill we looked for a fun and delicious lunch stop. We were greeted warmly in this eclectic tea inspired spot. Very girly but Tom was game and the only man there this weekday. However, the portions are "mansized." They have many varieties of tea and I ordered a small pot of orange rooibos tea. There are both caffeinated and decaf choices. Each of us had a cup of soup. His split pea was enjoyed with its smokey flavor while I savored the broccoli cheddar soup. I had to order the acorn squash stuffed with Italian sweet sausage, walnuts, cranberries and apples with a drizzle of maple syrup. It was delicious and I took half home for another day. Tom had the open faced Monte Cristo Sandwich which was corned beef, red cabbage and smothered in cheese. It was a generous. Both were served with a salad that had olives, radishes, cucumber, mini pickle and more that was served with Kathleen's balsamic dressing on the side. As if that wasn't enough we had to order a dessert to share. Having spoken to the owner of the last ten years, Cindi, when I heard that the banana pudding was her sister's recipe we selected it with fresh bananas, vanilla wafers and cream. It was a work of art as delivered and was perfection. The fresh bananas were not too hard, not to soft but just right. The pudding was light more like a mouse with the vanilla wafers adding a crunch.
