This place is absolutely fantastic! The food presentation and flavor are honestly some of the best I've experienced anywhere in New York. My son is in his third year at West Point, and over the past few years, we've searched Yelp, Google, and just about every review site imaginable trying to find truly great restaurants in the area. For some reason, Peekskill rarely seems to show up in those searches, and we've clearly been missing out! Peekskill is where it's at! The food here is outstanding, the presentation is impressive, and the entire experience exceeded our expectations. I only wish we had discovered this place sooner. If you're visiting West Point or staying anywhere in the Hudson Valley, don't overlook Peekskill. It's absolutely worth the trip! read more

We stopped in for a cocktail on our walk back to our hotel after dinner. They have a nice menu of trendy drinks. A few good bourbons and other liquors. They have nice bar seating. The bartenders were busy but got to us in a timely manner. My smoked old fashioned rivaled some the best I've had in my travels. I highly recommend this place if you are in Peekskill. read more

Such a cute little bar with a great vibe! The atmosphere is inviting--works well for a casual night out.. I absolutely loved the smoked Old Fashioned; it had a rich, smooth flavor with just the right amount of smokiness. You can tell they really put care into their cocktails. read more

The host was amazing. He made sure my daughter got her food before anyone else, the burger I had was literally the best burger I, well ever had. The atmosphere was amazing and I felt welcome like it was a friends place. I'll be making sure I come back as much as possible. Also the portion sizes. Dear lord in heaven the portion sizes. read more

What a place! The bartender is from Ireland and has the Irish accent and humor. He makes one hell of a drink. It was incredibly fun to sit at the bar and chat. It's a very friendly place and although we only went for drinks, I will go back next time for food as well. Parking is annoying as there is mostly only street parking available, and it's a dollar or so an hour. Some places have a limit on the parking as well. Their bathrooms were not the best but they worked. It was overall a perfect neighborhood bar. They also decorate it every month for a holiday or theme. read more

Wings are top notch. Not big grisly garbage wings like a lot of people serve. Def stop in and give it a shot. Dude at the bar is great and you'll know who it is when you talk to home. Go there, great time and great snacks. read more

Freaking perfect. Bartender Nate was great. Food and drink were spot on. Try the chili dogs!

We went to this restaurant because we heard they had the best burger and they were right! The burger was delicious. I have to post this as I walked in and walked out because the menu for drinks is deceptive. There are no prices included on the menu screen for draft beers (on the screen) and various pours of spirits on the menu. This is just deceptive. It is easy enough to add prices to these drinks and keep your menu updated. It is clear they want you to order and find out the price later once you get the check and then it is too late. I am a big supporter of local restaurants, but this is just plain wrong and needs to be called out. It is not hard to maintain an inventory of choices and price each choice, especially when the menu is electronically generated. Unacceptable for the consumer - buyer beware. Happy to update this review if it is ever fixed. Outside of this, they do have a great choice of beers and spirits and I hope to go back if they fix this issue. Level with your customer. read more

Just a bar, nothing more! NOT much to comment on. Small, dark, very loud, TV distraction everywhere. I never went in here for just that reason as I don't particularly care to eat at bars, but I was curious. Read the reviews here first. I will say I enjoyed my sandwich which was called the Mutha' Klucker -- a fried chicken breast sandwich, and a big one! Greasy fries and plastic silverware took the experience down. Had to ask for everything I needed and for whatever reason, the bartender didn't seem too attentive (to me at least). Anyway, went in open-minded but won't be returning. If you like eating in a dark bar, or drinking for that matter, then this place will check your boxes. read more

We had a great meal here! The sandwiches (I had the double cheeseburger and my friend had the grilled chicken) were very tasty. Service was friendly and prompt. We also enjoyed our pretzel bites as an appetizer. A welcoming and friendly ambiance topped off an enjoyable experience. read more

Great food, people and atmosphere. Calling out to ALL my Whiskey and Bourbon peeps!!! Pull up a bar stool, we got work to do here!!! Yummy!!! What a nice selection of amazing Whiskeys! And if you have a chance. Do the Smoked Bacon Old Fashion! Yup, my new love. Service was very welcoming and engaging! Had a blast interacting with the Bartender and the other guests!!! Food was great, good portions and very tasty and out to you in a very timely manner!!! Prices were very reasonable and the seasonal decorations, the best I have seen so far!!! To be honest, going to be hard to beat! So what are you waiting for? Get on down there and have a drink and or a bite or both!!! Keep an eye out for me because I am definitely going to be back!!! read more

Great place to kick back with some friends and enjoy a brew or some way better than expected food! It's loud, often crowded, and seating is hard to find, but if you stick it out, you'll be rewarded with some surprises like maple wings, and a great burger and fries. Pulled pork and fish tacos were less impressive but service is always fast and the man who runs the show will do everything in his power to make you happy. Party on! read more

Wanna grab some delicious drinks AND great food all in one spot? Consider this a MUST! Before heading to Woodbury Commons Outlet, we decided to grab a nosh and Whiskey River on N. Division St in Peekskill- popped up. The menu reads well and that's why I decided not to pussyfoot around it and just come here- instead of doing a 20-minute Yelp search like I usually do. No reservations taken- just walk right in. And at the time we did, it was just us on tables and two folks at the bar. Whiskey River is stylish with an inviting entrance, brick walls and equally chic, textured wooden black walls. It's not your typical bar food. And it's not a big menu- but a creative one which hubs and I were really digging. My 'Double Mule' was well-crafted, had the right components with extra oomph while hubs enjoyed both his Lagers. Our Granola-topped, Butternut +Ginger bisque was stunning with the most subtle heat. Hubs loved his Fried 'Mother Clucker' Chicken Sandwich and I was all over my chunky, Fried Cod Fish Tacos. Lemme just say this: the cod fish was substantial with an airy dredge on it, served with pickled onions and the lightest-touched mayo on the slaw- which I barely noticed. Perfection! The proof is in the eating. And just so you know, Whiskey River's food is hearty- but not boring bar food! This was a fantastic escape from our usual locations. Our guy Nathan was on his toes the entire time and totally appreciated that. Thank you!!! We'd come back ASAP. Everything about it was great. I'd even try my hand at some of their other cocktails. Hospitality? Check! Courteous? Check! Food? Awesome! read more

It is quite small inside but yet they are able to distance everyone and still make the dining experience amazing!! We started off with these smokey paloma drinks and proceeded with the empanadas of the week (creamy chicken and rice,) beef tacos, fish tacos and bro got the venison chili. The chili alone was superb!!! I wish I would have gotten a takeout order for my dad since they change up the menu pretty much weekly but here's to hoping they have it again sometime Empanadas are always a win no matter the version and the fish tacos ohhh man.... I should have asked for two orders they were so tasty! It was a 'cold' taco with slaw and drizzle and I could not have asked for better. I will be back here again and again fo sho read more

I've been here several times and have never been disappointed! This is a great little spot located on restaurant row in Downtown Peekskill. It's a small restaurant so it can feel a little cramped. But the food is amazing. I usually have either wings or empanadas when I come here. Every week they do a different kind of empanada. Chicken, pulled pork, chorizo, etc. Not sure what it will be from one week to another but I guarantee it will be delicious! Their burgers are really good too! They have a great selection of drinks as well, beer, cocktails and whiskeys. Great spot for some wings and beer. Give it a shot! read more

Stopped in for a quick burger on the way home from a day trip. Ended up being there 1.5 hours with most of it spent being ignored & trying to get the attention of both our server & the owner. At one point my husband was waving the owner over to try to get our check & he walked right past us into the ramen restaurant next door?? More concerned with socializing than running his restaurant. Food was also below average, burgers no way worth $18 especially when served with plastic silverware read more

We stopped here on our way back from dropping my son off at hockey camp at West Point. It's a quaint pub, with a very friendly and hard working staff. Thank you for a great experience while stopping off in Peekskill. read more

I think this place is very nice! There was only one guy working who was tending the bar and taking orders. He was able to multitask really well. I got the empanadas which were so yummy! However, it was 2 for $10 which I think was a little much. Also, the empanadas would have been better an as app instead because I was still starving afterwards. My boyfriend got the wings with a blueberry sauce which was an interesting flavor. Very good and the wings themselves were perfect. read more

The chicken piccata gnocchi was terrible. No sauce. Basically a plain chicken breast over plain unsauced gnocchi. They serve you with plastic cups and plastic utensils. So cutting a chicken breast with a plastic knife was not enjoyable. More of a bar with food than a restaurant. Loud bar crowd in the evening. Server not that attentive. read more

Went here on a first date and not to be swayed by the date but the bartender was aces and the place was really nice.

Came here for a quick lunch on the way back home from a Christmas tree farm. There was 1 outdoor table. They had just opened so not sure if they have more tables they put out. they also have heaters for outdoors. The menu is pretty straight forward, some sandwiches, burgers, wings and steak. We ordered a few things on the menu, but a few people ordered the chicken sandwich and their up the river burger. I thought the chicken sandwich was pretty good and hit the spot. My brother liked the burger, it was def. a big burger... for me it had way too much butter and that took away from overall flavor for me. This looks like one of the better spots in the area so I recommend stopping by for a good lunch. read more

Ordered takeout from here last night and it was absolutely phenomenal. Probably the best take away food we've ordered throughout Covid. We ordered the Up the River Burger, the Pulled Pork Melt, the hush puppies and garlic parm wings. While my fiancé waited, they gave him a free beer which was so nice. He said they were extremely kind and helpful. The pork melt was probably one of the best sandwiches I've ever eaten. Burger is in point. Their fries are phenomenal. Wings were really good and so were the hush puppies. We cannot wait to go here and sit for dinner and we're so excited this place opened up! One of the places that will be in our regular rotation for sure. read more

Great place for a drink and a light meal or appetizer. Darkish, cozy, casual gastro-pub atmosphere. The Irish bartender is familiar, friendly and knows his hard liquor, especially the brown variety. He let me behind the bar to browse, so I was immediately and easily pleased. The food is above average drinking fare and you can't go wrong with the Up the River burger and a cold beer. The desserts are always different and usually pretty awesome. Not a place for Thurston Howell and his yacht club set, but if you're a normal lady/gent looking for a laid back hang out spot, here's your place. Visit on a snowy winter night around Christmas and the atmosphere is downright snug (if you don't sit at the drafty table by the door). You'll want to be a regular. read more

Amazing food and ambiance. Such a cozy vibe. The biggest thing for me was the service as well. No matter how many times I've been here and no matter who was behind the bar, they were always attentive and respectful. For one, sometimes they only have one person working both the floor and as the bartender and despite being alone with 18 individuals to serve they still manage to give everyone equal attention and quick great service. Love it. read more

I love Whiskey River. It's a great, casual atmosphere and the bartenders and waitstaff are lovely and very funny. My husband loves the burger and I'm partial to the wings, but the real star here is the cocktails.
