What a place! The bartender is from Ireland and has the Irish accent and humor. He makes one hell of a drink. It was incredibly fun to sit at the bar and chat. It's a very friendly place and although we only went for drinks, I will go back next time for food as well. Parking is annoying as there is mostly only street parking available, and it's a dollar or so an hour. Some places have a limit on the parking as well. Their bathrooms were not the best but they worked. It was overall a perfect neighborhood bar. They also decorate it every month for a holiday or theme. read more

I have to post this as I walked in and walked out because the menu for drinks is deceptive. There are no prices included on the menu screen for draft beers (on the screen) and various pours of spirits on the menu. This is just deceptive. It is easy enough to add prices to these drinks and keep your menu updated. It is clear they want you to order and find out the price later once you get the check and then it is too late. I am a big supporter of local restaurants, but this is just plain wrong and needs to be called out. It is not hard to maintain an inventory of choices and price each choice, especially when the menu is electronically generated. Unacceptable for the consumer - buyer beware. Happy to update this review if it is ever fixed. Outside of this, they do have a great choice of beers and spirits and I hope to go back if they fix this issue. Level with your customer. read more

I never went in here for just that reason as I don't particularly care to eat at bars, but I was curious. Read the reviews here first. I will say I enjoyed my sandwich which was called the Mutha' Klucker -- a fried chicken breast sandwich, and a big one! Greasy fries and plastic silverware took the experience down. Had to ask for everything I needed and for whatever reason, the bartender didn't seem too attentive (to me at least). Anyway, went in open-minded but won't be returning. Division St in Peekskill- popped up. The menu reads well and that's why I decided not to pussyfoot around it and just come here- instead of doing a 20-minute Yelp search like I usually do. No reservations taken- just walk right in. And at the time we did, it was just us on tables and two folks at the bar. Whiskey River is stylish with an inviting entrance, brick walls and equally chic, textured wooden black walls. It's not your typical bar food. And it's not a big menu- but a creative one which hubs and I were really digging. My 'Double Mule' was well-crafted, had the right components with extra oomph while hubs enjoyed both his Lagers. Our Granola-topped, Butternut +Ginger bisque was stunning with the most subtle heat. Hubs loved his Fried 'Mother Clucker' Chicken Sandwich and I was all over my chunky, Fried Cod Fish Tacos. Lemme just say this: the cod fish was substantial with an airy dredge on it, served with pickled onions and the lightest-touched mayo on the slaw- which I barely noticed. Perfection! The proof is in the eating. And just so you know, Whiskey River's food is hearty- but not boring bar food! This was a fantastic escape from our usual locations. We stopped here on our way back from dropping my son off at hockey camp at West Point. It's a quaint pub, with a very friendly and hard working staff. We had our 3 and 5 year old with us and they were very accommodating. The food came out quickly and was very tasty. Restrooms were clean as well. I've been here several times and have never been disappointed! This is a great little spot located on restaurant row in Downtown Peekskill. It's a small restaurant so it can feel a little cramped. But the food is amazing. I usually have either wings or empanadas when I come here. Every week they do a different kind of empanada. Chicken, pulled pork, chorizo, etc. Not sure what it will be from one week to another but I guarantee it will be delicious! Their burgers are really good too! Great place for a drink and a light meal or appetizer. Darkish, cozy, casual gastro-pub atmosphere. The Irish bartender is familiar, friendly and knows his hard liquor, especially the brown variety. He let me behind the bar to browse, so I was immediately and easily pleased. The food is above average drinking fare and you can't go wrong with the Up the River burger and a cold beer. The desserts are always different and usually pretty awesome. Not a place for Thurston Howell and his yacht club set, but if you're a normal lady/gent looking for a laid back hang out spot, here's your place. They had just opened so not sure if they have more tables they put out. they also have heaters for outdoors. The menu is pretty straight forward, some sandwiches, burgers, wings and steak. We ordered a few things on the menu, but a few people ordered the chicken sandwich and their up the river burger. I thought the chicken sandwich was pretty good and hit the spot. My brother liked the burger, it was def. a big burger... for me it had way too much butter and that took away from overall flavor for me. We ordered the Up the River Burger, the Pulled Pork Melt, the hush puppies and garlic parm wings. While my fiancé waited, they gave him a free beer which was so nice. He said they were extremely kind and helpful. The pork melt was probably one of the best sandwiches I've ever eaten. Burger is in point. Their fries are phenomenal. My husband loves the burger and I'm partial to the wings, but the real star here is the cocktails.
