My boyfriend says they make the best old fashioned he has had, so we will def be back! We had this maple bourbon glaze on our wings which was interesting, I was expecting more of a kick but it was good none the less. Wings were crispy and cooked to perfection. The burger we had was delicious as well! The beer cheese had so much flavor. It loses a star because we ordered pretzel bites and never received them. Serious dive bar with smelly ambience! the owner is a horrible person and would rather have non-paying customers in there than paying customers !!! likes to dictate what the customers talk about and tell them they're not allowed to say whatever they want in the bar even when there's no other customers !!! he grabs their drinks out of their hand if he has a different opinion than anything you're speaking of! I have hired an attorney and started a lawsuit against the owner and the bar to get it shut down. I came to Whiskey River during the holiday season with my friend who lives in the area and it did not disappoint! We sat at the bar and the bartenders were super friendly and the holiday decor was amazing. We ordered the empanadas of the week, which were buffalo chicken, and the up the river burger, which you MUST order. It was the best burger I ever had - the combination of candied bacon, beer cheese, fried shallots, and siracha aioli was unbelievable - just be sure to have napkins! Went to Whiskey River for a nightcap of some Redbreast 15 year old Irish Whiskey. Only to be stopped at the door and told to turn around and leave because the "bar is too full and the Fire Marshal will have a problem with that". First time I've ever been told that the bar was "too full" and was denied entry. I guess people buying more expense whiskey are not welcome and local hipsters drinking draft beer are. A bad look and definitely not a welcoming experience. Would've loved to try some of the appetizers too but like I said, we never made it past the front door! I guess the Peekskill Fire Marshal sets the occupancy at no more than thirty people in an establishment at any given time or more likely, locals only welcome on a Friday night.... read more

What a great place! Visited with my best friend for my b-day and we had a blast. Tried several whiskeys, recommendation from the bar tender, and they were all great. He was very knowledgeable in the products he offered. Paired the whisky based on our personal preferences. The owners, husband and wife team, visited with us for a few minutes to see how we were enjoying our drinks and food, and to get to know a bit about us. This was my first time coming here, We were greeted by a gentleman named "Jack". Jack made us feel like family and seated you right away. The drinks came out fast and on point. We ask for his recommendations, since we were never there. He told us the best sellers and we went off of that. We ordered the habanero wings and the empanadas for the appetizers and the Whiskey River burger. The burger was out of this world and probably one of the best burgers in peekskill along side the peekskill public bar and grill. The empanadas are the best in town. Our food came out fast and piping hot. The flavor profile was unique the food was Flavorful, sweet, and spicy making it a mouth-watering experience. My wife and I ordered from a Whiskey River tonight for the first time and were absolutely BLOWN AWAY! Although the menu is rather limited, they have certainly mastered it. My wife and I ordered the following: 1) Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich 2) Up the River Burger 3) Blueberry BBQ Wings I must say, if you're looking for great pub food, Whiskey River should be number one on your list. Although it tends to be difficult to rate a restaurant on its take out; we did not have that issue here. I'm excited to have Whiskey River in our town and I can't wait to sit at the bar, have a drink and another fantastic meal. More importantly, I can't wait to meet the owners to thank them in person (I didn't pick the food up). I have been going to Whiskey River weekly for about 3 months now, I have never once been disappointed. It is humbling to see how passionate the owners, chef and staff are about their customers. Their ingredients are fresh, local and always surprising my taste buds with new flavor. My absolute favorite to date was the Banana Pudding & Rhubarb desserts. They have a different menu every week with new and exciting dishes. This week I had the Shishito Peppers after a looooong day at work and they were BOMB. I even ended up bringing them for lunch the next day. Hands down, one of the best restaurants in Peekskill. Hit and miss. First time we went food was great but it was a slow night months ago in the middle of winter. Went back a week ago and it was a busy Sunday evening. Sat at a street table with our friends which was nice. Food and drinks came within reasonable time for them being short staffed. Hopefully they can find the extra staff they need to work their busy nights. Our wing appetizers had good flavor but skimpy chicken wings (I know this is a National problem). Husband had the up the river burger and loved it. I had the enchiladas and they were ok. Maybe I'm missing something. Craft beer list was B+. Fiddlehead IPA and Sloop Juice Bomb IPA being the only notables. Whiskey selection had nice depth. Had the wings and empanadas and decided not to decided not to expand. Wings were rubbery bathed in garlic parm sauce. No actual garlic or parm anywhere in sight for $14. The 2 empanadas were okay, but at $5 a piece I was underwhelmed. Very much enjoyed hanging out in the closed street though. Beautiful night to do so, and the service was excellent. I'm a vegetarian with celiacs disease, unfortunately I did not look at the menu before going in but Nate was beyond accommodating and friendly! My fiancé snd his family have eaten here many times and love the food! Taking a trip up to Peekskill for a day trip, my fiancée and I wanted to find a place for lunch, specifically a burger. Looking over the reviews, we decided to take a chance on Whiskey River and we were not disappointed. Considering that we are in a time of mask wearing and social distancing, we considered ourselves very safe to eat here. Everyone was wearing masks and hand sanitizer was plentiful. We ordered Michter's Bourbon (for me), Harvest Collons (for her), the Up the River Burger and the empanadas. Everything was very tasty. We told our server Nate that we were splitting everything and we loved the fact that the Burgers were already cut in half when it came out without even asking. Cutting it ourselves would definitely be problematic. Adding the fact that it had double patty's that were perfectly medium rare combined with candied bacon. All in all it was amazing!!! With that said, we will be back when we are in the area. And we highly recommend you all to come as well if you are thinking about it. read more

I really want to give this place 5 stars because the food is some of the best I've had, but the service is the worst I've had. All credit to the chefs. The location is awesome, but unfortunately it's not enjoyable to eat here because the only server I'd count on would be the younger girl. The drinks are inconsistent and are small for the price.
