This place should be renamed Croton Childcare. Two Fridays in a row there were children sitting at the bar and running around behaving like it's McDs play place; some almost breaking the front window where they were playing without Any adult supervision. This is Supposed to be a BAR!! Where are the limitations?! And where should we go where there are no children allowed?! Maybe I'll open a strip club so there's at least One spot in Westchester that spoiled, entitled parents don't ruin. Shame on the sellout management and owners for allowing the child take over. We definitely won't be back. read more

Very obnoxious owner!! We stopped by here to get a couple of drinks, may be some snacks. Ordered our drinks, then i saw these spicy chips on the shelf. Then i am like neah, and the bartender was over there, did not offer me a menu to order anything, nor there was a visible menu to look at. As we were seated outside i saw a Chinese restaurant next door, i walked over to check the menu and ordered crab rangoon. We were just chilling outside and the owner was peeking at our table. Then i asked if there is anything wrong. He was like i thought you guys brought food from home. I said no, i just gut these a couple of pieces of Rangoon from next door. Then he was like, oh we have food here. I said we weren't offered. So rude!! read more

Perfect stop after a day at the Croton Gorge Park. They have about 10 beers on tap, plus wine and cocktails. They also have pizza but we didn't think much of it until it came out. It looked so good and we ordered one too. The crust had nicely charred leopard spots and still fluffy in the middle. The tomato sauce was well-balanced. I wished they put more basil on it tho. Overall, an excellent experience and we'd be back if we're in the area! read more

What a fun place. I can only speak to the atmosphere and beer since I have never eaten at Tapsmith, but it's a great little local watering hole. Owner Tracy is very friendly, a good conversationalist, and you can tell he really cares about his customers. You immediately feel at home when you walk in. This place was great! I came here around 3:00 PM on a Saturday. Their oven wasn't on yet for pizza and empanadas; it's turned on around 4:00 PM. Their food selections change as their inventory rotated. One of the owners told me that they were getting a pizza oven to go outside soon. They had a variety of beer selections: on tap and in cans. There is also plenty of seating inside (at tables), at the bar and outside. It was quiet when I was here, but I'm sure it gets a little busier with the dinner rush. I would definitely come back on a Tuesday, when they get their food shipments in order to try more of their food options. I look forward to coming back to this place again! read more

A great place for local gatherings. Lots of fun people hang out here. Outside seating and great pizza on most Sundays.

Stopped in last night about an hour and a half before closing. We were still able to try the simple food menu and it was fabulous! The vegan rice balls and the pesto basil were slamming!! Also had the mac n cheese balls regular and spicy and whoa, watch out for that heat. Beers were great and we kicked the Chatham gose, which was replaced by my FAV Hudson Valley Brewery. This place is a great addition to Croton. Good pizza and panini. Good beer and wine selection. It's classy but not pretentious. It has a good dart board, and just a cool older vibe. Kids are welcome, but better to call the sitter and take your love out for a beer and a bite. It's already popular, but not overcrowded. The owner is there and he has some interesting stories to tell, the bar tender was friendly. Finally the price was right $10 personal pizza $7 to $8 for beer and $10 for a glass of wine. read more

I decided on coming here for the beer list. I have been to the green growler and enjoyed it so I was looking for another place in the area. I don't think the Tapsmith will be a spot I frequent. We ordered two beers, one can one draft, and it came to $19. Neither beer was exclusive, I have seen both breweries at half time for way less. For a croton location vs nyc I just don't think it's worth it. Let's not mention it was very cold and they only offered two food options, rather go somewhere else. read more

Have been to the new Croton Tapsmith a few times now. It's a winner!! Friendly service, great atmosphere, a fantastic selection of beer, wine and cider. Owners are Croton locals (heart that!). Decor is Brooklyn-like without overstepping. Aranchinj Bros. Balls, empanadas and really really good personal pizzas - outstanding crust and flavors made fresh from Arthur Avenue. Outdoor seating on the narrowish sidewalk made me feel like I was in NYC without having to actually GO to NYC. Welcome to the neighborhood! read more

Disappointed by the service. I have been to the Tapsmith a number of times in the past and it's always been ok. Recently, I was passing by and decided to stop in to help support the local business for a quick drink. The Bartender (pretty sure the owner) was apparently having a tough day. I asked him for his " lightest beer" and he asked me to check out the the "beer list" that was on the wall at the end of the bar. There was a cute couple chatting privately in front of the beer list and I didn't have my reading glasses on so I asked him again to recommend a light beer (as to not to interfere with their conversation) and again he told me to look at the beer list. I again asked him to recommend a light beer . This happened 4 times before he finally served me a light beer. Disappointed that the bartender wouldn't recommend a beer when asked and he had attitude. Most of the beer names I had never heard about before and I couldn't read the list from where i was standing. Pretty uncomfortable experience. I want these guys to do well but they need to be a little more customer friendly. read more

Awesome ambiance! A great little spot in the middle of the village to stop in for a drink and catchup with a friend. There is a lot of seating and a social atmosphere. They also have delicious bar-bites that go far beyond your traditional wings and peanuts. This place is a little pretentious, but that seems to be trending. Pizza is pretty good--but a little expensive for what it is. The beers are overpriced and the selection really isn't that impressive. I never thought I'd say it, but I think the Green Growler is a better deal--they certainly have a better selection. My last few visits, I've gotten both an attitude and lousy service from the owner/bartender in the Stetson hat. My wife and I ordered two draft beers on a Saturday afternoon. We waited 10 minutes (yes, I timed it) and watched two couples that ordered after us get their drinks. I politely reminded him we were waiting on two beers, he told me that he was the only bartender and to not rush him. ‍ COVID update: If you just want a beer you'll have to buy a $12 pizza. Bringing the total to $20+. I used to think the growler was expensive, but at least I can get a beer and a $1 order of chicken nuggets for under $10. read more

The best new bar in the area. Although it just recently opened, you immediately get the feeling like it's been around for awhile (because this place gets it right). Great bar, this a must visit for any craft beer lover! We stopped in on a Saturday night and were blown away by the beer selection, four on tap and many more cans in two coolers. Tracy (the owner and bartender) was friendly and knowledgeable. We had two pizzas, margarita and flammkuchen(sp?) both delicious! I love the vibe at the Tapsmith. Always welcoming and more of a spot for some of us "older" peeps to hang out. I love the owners and of course there is Bob who is always welcoming with a smile and a pour. The food is off the charts. We love the Croton Tapsmith! Fabulous ambience---- an English pub in our midst! Great beers and ciders! Fabulous wine choices! The owners, Tracy and Toni, live in the area, and they are enthusiastic and welcoming. The food choices are lovely.... wonderful personal pizzas, empanadas, paninis, crab balls are served on a rotating basis! We had a bacon and cheese pizza...which I recommend, and the grilled cheese panini. All is locally sourced, and each day may have different offerings. A guitarist was playing and singing his original music the night we were there. ... Definitely recommend The Tapsmith....... a neighborhood treasure, for sure! read more

This place should be more appealing than it is --small but with a funky vibe. Not a restaurant but a bar with limited seating and a very limited menu. My husband and I actually sat at the bar and ordered hard cider --what we got was two wine glasses with literally an inch and a half of cider for $8 each. When I complained, the owner behind the bar came over and told me that's the same as a wine pour. I shrugged and said I ordered hard cider and was expecting more of a beer glass so he came back and filled our glasses to an acceptable level. We ordered the personal bacon pizza, which the owner's wife brought out --I asked for plates and was told there are known so we ate our pizza off cheap white paper napkins. Next up were crab and Brie balls, golf ball sized. Still hungry, we split a Brie and fig panini. Maybe this place is ok for a beer and snack after work, but if the owner hadn't topped off our glasses I'd be seriously peeved. read more
