Kathleen's Tea Room - Grill chicken sandwich with bacon and cranberry mayo on a croissant - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Peekskill, New York

After running an errand in Peekskill we looked for a fun and delicious lunch stop. We were greeted warmly in this eclectic tea inspired spot. Very girly but Tom was game and the only man there this weekday. However, the portions are "mansized." They have many varieties of tea and I ordered a small pot of orange rooibos tea. There are both caffeinated and decaf choices. Each of us had a cup of soup. His split pea was enjoyed with its smokey flavor while I savored the broccoli cheddar soup. I had to order the acorn squash stuffed with Italian sweet sausage, walnuts, cranberries and apples with a drizzle of maple syrup. It was delicious and I took half home for another day. Tom had the open faced Monte Cristo Sandwich which was corned beef, red cabbage and smothered in cheese. It was a generous. Both were served with a salad that had olives, radishes, cucumber, mini pickle and more that was served with Kathleen's balsamic dressing on the side. As if that wasn't enough we had to order a dessert to share. Having spoken to the owner of the last ten years, Cindi, when I heard that the banana pudding was her sister's recipe we selected it with fresh bananas, vanilla wafers and cream. It was a work of art as delivered and was perfection. The fresh bananas were not too hard, not to soft but just right. The pudding was light more like a mouse with the vanilla wafers adding a crunch. Perfect way to end our meal. The wait staff, as well as, the owner were most attentive throughout the meal. We will be back. Having trouble loading photos. Will try later. read more

Love, love this place!!! I love their sandwiches, soups, salads, desserts, and all of their bread. This is my favorite place in the area and I can't wait for them to reopen. I wish more places offered the type of menu that they do. read more

Kathleen's tea room is quite the drive for me (Bronx to Peekskill)... But it's so worth it. The atmosphere is perfect for a group of girls wanting to catch up.. sit and have the "Afternoon Tea" (one order feeds three people max (this consist of three tiers mixed with small sandwiches, fruits, veggies and a scone along with your pick of tea) - but we have to get the delicious "mixed berry shortcake" to really fill up on tasty treats). There are a lot of other things on the menu but it is pretty pricy so I wouldn't come here for a full meal but more for the snacks and to enjoy a girls day out for brunch or late snacks. The staff is always friendly and helpful. And the presentation of the food is always appealing to the eyes. I'll be back soon enough! read more

I am basing my review for the most part on the unfriendly and almost rude young lady who waited on me today and that's a shame. I told her that I drive by there all the time and the place looked so nice that I had been wanting to stop in for a long time. Parking is not always easy in that busy street. Today I saw a spot across the street, had a quarter handy, and went inside. Telling her that I had come in especially because it looked so nice got no response from her at all. No smile, no thank you, nothing. She headed toward the cashier's counter at the back saying they had a take-out menu, handed it to me and went about her business. I looked at the menu for a minute and saw 'Bombay Chicken Salad'. I like that Indian flavoring in chicken salad so told her I wanted to order it. She took the order. I stood and waited for the order while I looked around the place and checked out the other items on the menu, which look very interesting. When my order was ready, she gave it to me and took my money, still no interaction, no smile, nothing. She handed me my little bit of change without saying thank you, cracking a smile or even making eye contact. I thought her behavior was brusque to the point of rudeness, especially when I was a customer who said they had come in because they had often seen the place and thought it looked so nice. This was an opportunity for an employee to be gracious and make a really nice first impression on a new customer. The place had customers at some of the tables but it was by no means full, not that being busy would be an excuse for her behavior. There is no excuse for rudeness. She just simply couldn't be bothered. The chicken salad is too sweet with not enough curry and the consistency is a little strange. It was a little gloppy. Someone didn't cut the chicken up very well before they made the salad. Lots of fruit and raw vegetables around the sides of the large container. The place is pricey and one hopes the other items on the menu would be better than the chicken salad. I have no problem with pricey for really good food. It's really nice inside with the walls lined with shelves full of tons of cute and interesting looking tea pots, along with other really nice touches all over the place. They also sell what appears to be a huge selection of teas. All the customers were ladies having lunch. It is obviously a popular spot with a certain crowd. I might be willing to come back and try something else on the menu, especially one of the desserts but after encountering that rude waitress I'm not sure. read more

I LOVE This Place! I live in Manhattan and I cannot wait to go back to Kathleen's Tea Room again. The food is delicious( the quiche, the soups, salads, the mini-assorted sandwiches, desserts, etc.)! And so pretty.... I was there yesterday with a friend of mine for lunch and we loved it! We bought Kathleen's raspberry jam because it was so good...YUMM...It's good that I could buy gift-cards too. :-)))))))))) read more

We went to Kathleen's Tea Room for the first time this weekend. The food was amazing! Fresh, quality ingredients and we enjoyed every bite! Every single bite was outstanding! Vivian is an amazing cook...creating and preparing delicious and authentic dishes with wholesome ingredients! Marqui, was professional kind, and personable. The service was impeccable. Inside the decor is inviting with both vintage and eclectic style teapots and a few unique accessories gracing the surrounding shelves. Sitting in a cozy nook in front was perfect as it was our 29 year wedding anniversary. Thank you for making our day that much better. We will definitely be back! read more

This was my first time at Kathleen's Tea Room. We came for my sisters birthday and we were running late. Once we got there we were seated immediately with no issue. We were seated in the window, literally. There are three small steps that lead to a super cute table with four seats, two. lounge chairs and two regular, placed right in the window front of the tea room. Great for selfie lighting and pictures overall. The staff was nothing short of sweet and attentive. I ordered the warm croissant with fruit, butter and jam (AMAZING), a 2 cup of the Crème Earl Gray tea, the combination soup, salad and half sandwich, and for dessert the apple crisp. With the combination plate came the soup of the day which was Butternut Squash, a house salad with olives, caper berries, beets, the works, and a half roast beef sandwich on a club roll with horseradish sauce. Needless to say my plate was C L E A N. The Apple crisp was good but because I'm not fond of a lot of nutmeg, the nutmeg taste was overwhelming for me. I will definitely be back and I highly recommend it. read more

Came here during thanksgiving weekend for the 1st time after wanting to check it out for years and i'm so glad I did. The place is known in Westchester and I heard could get pretty crowded but we lucked out and we were able to score 2 seats right in the window. It's cute and kitschy inside, tons of teapots, cups and saucers, floral wallpaper, retro toys. We both wanted high tea so it was $21ea. We got a tray full of finger sandwiches, scones, clotted cream, jam, treats, the works, I was in heaven. The only thing that was weird was that it didn't come w/ tea; you had to order it separately. I don't remember the exact name but we got some kind of strawberry tea which was great for the cold weather. Aside from the high tea, they had a bunch of other items on the menu like salads, sandwiches, and soups which looked good. I'm definitely coming back ps: its cash only read more

Ahmmaaaaazzzzing. Did I mention it was amazing? Such a cute cozy tea room. Live the decor and mismatched tea cups. I ordered the buttermilk scone with fresh fruit and clotted cream. To die for. I can't wait to go back. The tearoom was busy when we arrived, and you may have to reserve the window seat. The tea was delicious but it became a little cold. We told the waitress and she gladly reheated our tea and topped off our tea pot read more

One of the cutest tea rooms I've ever been to! Great service and such a great selection of tea. Would highly recommend it to anyone in the area or any fan of tea read more

I took my wife who loves tea. The place was really nice and small. Decor was cool with a lot of old pictures, tea pots, books, and tea making devices to look at. My wife had the afternoon tea tower and I ordered the special quiche of the day. To be honest I ordered the quiche to avoid the 5 dollar plate charge if you try to share the afternoon tea tower with your wife. The quiche was excellent and my wife really enjoyed the three plate tower. My wife could not eat the whole thing herself. It featured a scone, a crumpet, tea sandwiches, fruit, and petite deserts. Overall experience was that my wife was happy and of course that makes me happy. read more

My godmother introduced me to this lovely place - I like the mismatched china and that the teapots serving as decoration are also for sale. They have a huge selection of teas. If you are a party of two, be sure to sit in the window - it makes the experience so much greater! In winter, getting cozy infront of the fireplace is nice. In my opinion, the high tea / afternoon tea is worth the money if you want something unique - having your goodies served on a three-tier stand just makes you feel special :) They put so much love into the preparation of the food. Great place for an afternoon with the girls, but I've also seen a few guys there. read more

Good food if you can get it but God help you if you don't have reservations. You are a ghost. So embarrassing when an out of town friend and I wanted dessert and tea after eating at another restaurant. They asked if we had a reservation. When we replied we didn't, they left us standing in the entry way like we didn't exist. No communication whatsoever. We left after waiting 15 mins without a word. read more

My girlfriends and I decided to try something different for once. After a wonderful season of yoga, we came here for brunch and some tea. The place is adorable and very uniquely set up! Love this place. Having recently moved from London I was looking for a cute afternoon tea place. The service was excellent and as a first time customer I was given a few different loose leaf teas to take home. My husband and I ordered an afternoon tea with a pot of English breakfast tea. The scones were large, warm and absolutely delicious. We met the owner after and she told us they were freshly made. Very impressed. The sandwiches and cakes selection was lovely as well. I will definitely be dragging my husband to this place more often. read more

The girls that work here are the sweetest. Wide selection of teas. I come here for the ultimate scone with fresh fruit, lemon curd, jam and clotted cream in the side. The only downside is the place has an odd smell in the air all the time, not sure if it's aromas from all the different teas mixing or something else entirely. Maybe they simply need better ventilation or something to neutralize the odors in the air. Otherwise enjoyable. read more

Love this place, love the food and owner( Vivian) so much I had her cater my intimate summer wedding. My guests were so impressed with the presentation and the quality of the hors-d'œuvre. The main course consisted of fresh ingredients only. I love that her menu changes with season to compliment the freshest ingredients. The tea menu can't go unrecognized of course as it offers a long range of variety. read more

Beautiful ambiance. The first time you visit here it will be for the experience but you will keep coming back for the delicious food and variety of quality tea. Myself and my mother both ordered traditional items, myself a scone and my mother a crumpet. They were both exceptional and served with very fresh fruit. A wide variety of fresh fruit, which was lovely! The scone, with some clotted cream and their delectable jam was just fantastic. When the place is busy it does feel a bit cramped and the service is unsteady. The servers are always friendly, but they are few and sometimes seem overwhelmed. The two visits I made they didn't check in at the table after bringing the food. I had no issues, but this could bother some. Overall, worth the first visit and many more after that! read more

I went here with my cousin/best friend and we had a blast. You go here with a girl friend. I'm just tellin' it like it is. There is mismatched china, doilies, old-timely upholstery. Wonderful tea and food! Service is a little hit or miss. This woman brought out our soup with our entrees it was very awkward. She insisted "that's how we do it" instead of apologizing for forgetting our soups. She would talk to her staff more so than the customers. She's a bigger Spanish girl, other customers were uncomfortable and annoyed with her as their waitress as well. She's rude and doesn't pay attention and does the bare minimum. She's the only that will hold me back from coming back. read more

I don't what happened to this place but when I went it looked nothing like the yelp pictures. There were piles of old stuff everywhere no room to walk because of Knick knacks. There were like 3 or 4 tables with plastic tablecloths in the front crammed together. This looked like a hoarders home honestly with all the clutter. It looked dirty and unkept I was shocked this place even serves food. With COVID I was scared to even do take out here as the workers had no masks on. A restaurant has to be clean and this place looked like a health code violation read more

I am now in love. Strangely enough, it is only recently that I discovered Kathleen's Tea Room and now I cannot get enough. If nothing else, the variety of teas is staggering and the scones are to die for. I would go for the scones alone, but the food is amazing as well. I had no idea they had a full menu of food; soups, salads, hearty sandwiches and a salmon salad plate that I LOVED. The soups are home made, thick and filling, so beware that you don't fill up so much you cannot squeeze in a scone. The place is cozy, comfortable, eclectic, decorated with tea things everywhere and has a warm and relaxed feel. You would expect it to be a place for ladies who lunch, and I'm sure that is their mainstay, but I dragged my husband along, and he enjoyed it as much as I did, although he left stuffed, which is almost unheard of for him. There were other men who ventured in as well, and lived to tell the tale. Service is pleasant and efficient, but things are made to order so don't expect a quick or rushed visit. It is filled with charm and character and individuality. An unequivocally unique spot, it is truly one not to be missed for lunch or an afternoon tea. I cannot recommend it highly enough. It is both an event and an experience. read more
