I just confirmed a reservation for today April 18. It's NOT PERMANENTLY CLOSED. Someone needs to change the erroneous information on the YELP app. Now for the good stuff: Edna and I are early birds especially if we're gonna catch a show and since we had tickets to see Audra McDonald at the Paramount, we decided that a 5pm reservation was acceptable. As we sat down to our reserved table our server wanted to know if we were going to a show... now that's very thoughtful. They would pace our meal accordingly. BUT we had three hours. We ordered wine and beer to start- on Happy Hour prices. We were informed of new items on the menu... I changed my mind 3 times; everything looked great. We decided to share the Jeep Koong as an appetizer. Edna is very particular about what she eats and b/c of her Latin heritage, fried fish was not out of the question. Out came a very large portion of fried red snapper in a Tamarind sauce and Brussels sprouts. She opted to omit the sliced jalepeno. I like Massaman Curry; their new offering had it made with lamb and Brussels sprouts, potatoes and sliced cashews. Oh boy. My recent bout with bleeding ulcers had me forego having it Thai spicy. Still plenty of time before the show but the restaurant was filling up fast. Dessert yes we chose to share puff pastry topped with coconut ice cream and coconut flakes. I was surprised to see Durian on the dessert menu or at least I didn't remember from the other time we visited the restaurant. I do remember the Durian we experienced during our last trip to Bangkok- a real smelly fruit which I opted to taste (sure). All in all our meal, service and the simple but tasteful decorations, were all outstanding. Of course we'll be back but might return to their lunchtime offerings. Rating is for spring rolls only. The dipping sauce is too sweet, but beggars can't be choosers. My relatives bought me some spring rolls so go ahead and report me to the IRS. Try to remember we are recovering chefs. We worked for Michelin starred restaurant some of them two stars; they're only three Michelin stars there's no such thing as five star service not according to Michelin the God of every single restaurant in the world is very unreliable. if you don't mind eating pigs or other animals, feel free to try the menu but it's not cheap and it's certainly not cheap when you order it with Uber eats. Can't afford to live anymore? Vote! Vote out every single GOP jerk there is because a democrat could not do worse than they have. All I had were the spring rolls because that was the only vegan item. They're incredibly expensive, just like everywhere else is. So if you like spring rolls and you want to get them feel free, but I wouldn't eat anything else off this menu if you paid me because we are vegans! That is our religion, but not good enough apparently for other people so now we just say we're Buddhists. Apparently being Vegan is too hard to understand for the simple minded American dolts we are forced to talk to you on a regular basis. We watched way too much reality TV because the news kills us in more ways than one. We actually are stupid enough to care about other human beings whether they be Americans or not. What a gorgeous spot with incredible food. We sat at the bar and both servers/bartenders were sooo incredibly polite. I had questions about the dishes and they were very helpful. The decor is so beautiful and also whimsical with a nod to cassette tapes and the 90s. There's a great article in the Peekskill Herald about the two co-owners and their inspiration behind the name and I just love their concept. We started with the curry puffs- amazing chicken and potato in a puff pastry. So delish. My husband ordered the chicken karee- a breaded chicken in a pumpkin curry. It also came with rice and sweet sausage that was incredible. Housemade pickled vegetables too. This dish was fantastic. I ordered the shrimp clay pot- glass noodles Ina garlic sesame sauce with shrimp and bacon, plus a bunch of vegetables. Really yummy, but my husband's dish was better. For dessert we shared the corn puff (sooo good) which comes with housemade ice cream - we chose Thai tea ice cream. This was an excellent dessert -and huge. We couldn't finish it. *I came for the soft opening but was impressed already Fantastic new Thai restaurant in Westchester! The dishes felt unique to me and were delicious. Loved the vibe and decor. It felt open and welcoming. Great spot for a date or if you want something a little different. Got the off menu Guava juice which was refreshing and delicious. If the price for this drink comes down, I will get it everytime Chive pancakes - unique and in big French fry form. Jeep Koong - sooo good! They were like big shumai dumplings with a unique scrumptious flavor Wai Yao Noodles - Colorful delicious dish. All of the ingredients blended so well together. The food was delicious and comforting, very much like homemade, grandma-style cooking. It's a great option for a nice date night, though it does run a bit pricey. Had a great meal at Cassette Thai Diner. The atmosphere is cool and funky, like a bit of Greenwich Village transported to Peekskill. They played upbeat music, but at an unobtrusive volume. The staff is friendly and attentive without being overbearing. And the food is fabulous. We had the Massaman Kae lamb special and the Thai grits with shrimp, egg and pork belly. Apparently the pork belly takes three days to prepare. It is unlike any I have ever had; flavorful, crisp, and not fatty. I highly recommend!! read more

Came back and tried more amazing items! Loved the grits congee with pork and shrimp. Fried wings were perfectly crispy. One of the best fried rices I've had in recent memory! Loved the R&B cocktail and the music genre drink themes (hence the name!). Service is so friendly and attentive, the servers are gracious and sweet. Ordered a scallop appetizer over the phone the woman asked which one? I only saw one on the menu so asked how many do you have? She said only 1. Ok I ordered it then ordered the soft shell crab spaghetti "How much for an extra crab?" You can only have 1. Ok great start The scallop appetizer was overwhelmed by taro root flavor. The taro root 2 pieces were inedible as they were dry and chewy. Scallops were basically non existent. Would never order again The soft shell crab spaghetti was the smallest soft shell crab available on the market and over cooked. The noodles used were grotesquely over cooked to the point of mushy. The sauce was nice with a perfect kick. Lemon grass pieces were throughout the dish of which many were not edible. Lemon grass is like a stalk and used to add flavor not normally in the dish. Unless it was something else? The Jasmine tea was perfect. This place is gorgeous. They have a long bar nice seating area. The staff were not very outgoing and they have no to go menu . View the menu online although it's a bit difficult as the pages move around and it's difficult to navigate the pages. I actually will return to try something else. Ok, been hearing about this place all summer and finally checked it out..if you look through my Yelps you will see that my last Thai experience in Peekskill was not good..but im happy to report Peekskill now has a GREAT Thai spot!!! Decor is beautiful..lots of exposed brick with a beautiful long bar...plenty of seating while still feeling quaint. The staff was so pleasant and the food was absolutely Delicious!!!! We ate at the bar ( as we often do ), our bartender / Server was awesome, our wine was perfect and even little things like seeing him spend minutes cleaning and inspecting our glasses before pooring..those types of attention to details and old school bartender edict mean A Lot to me. This place is DEFINITELY on our rotation of fantastic restaurants in Westchester and Putnam County. As ive said in many of my posts, Peekskill has NO Shortage of great eateries..but if you miss this spot, it would be a mistake. I haven't been to the restaurant I've only ordered delivery, but the food is amazing! I've ordered from there several times now, and I love everything I've ordered. The food is consistently great, which I know can be difficult for restaurants, I have a food allergy that isn't listed there but I write it in the remarks and they have always accommodated me, I've always received exactly what I ordered, last night I ordered the Pad Thai and was disappointed there was no meat, then I looked and saw it was my fault, I clicked on the wrong selection, I guess they couldn't read my mind, even so I really enjoyed it. So even when I mess up I still enjoy the food! I do hope to get to the restaurant in person to eat in, but having the time to go out to eat is a luxury lately. read more

The ambiance is also very cozy and welcoming, and the only reason I cannot give it 5 stars is because there was an overwhelmingly bad small in the entire restaurant that hits you the moment you walk in. Growing up in a Thai household I was lucky to get home cooked Thai meals by my parents daily and so after they passed away I was missing those authentic dishes. I went to Cassette Thai diner tonight with my husband and some friends. I will be honest my expectations weren't too high since the area is not really known for Thai food but I give this spot two big thumbs up! The food was delicious and even tho it was a soft opening I found the service to be amazing. The staff were all so nice and accommodating. We had the chive pancakes, springs rolls, larb fries and papaya salad to start and it was all so good! Main meals were shrimp pad thai, short ribs and cassette grits. All stellar but the star of the show were the drunken noodles! We ended the meal with the mango and sticky rice (a favorite of mine growing up) and the coconut ice cream sandwich. All great! We were really excited for the opening of this restaurant. Twenty five dollars for tofu Pad Thai in Peekskill NY? When seen on the menu one of our party said, "That's gotta be a huge portion!" It wasn't. Utterly disappointing meal. A small amount of limp sprouts, half a teaspoon of ground peanuts on the side, and a lime wedge approximately an eighth of a lime. The sauce was nothing special, and was more lumpy than typical Pad Thai. Sure, running a restaurant is challenging, but the value of this meal was far less than what we paid. I wasn't the only one disappointed at our table, but I won't speak for my friends. The entire table agreed we won't be back. read more
