I typically don't order chinese food I am realizing so we were fish out of water when it came to ordering on Christmas this year. Is it just me or does uber eats tend to have very inflated ratings? I mean, if a place is less than 4.6 it must be terrible. For that reason, I tend to cross reference yelp when deciding on a new place. Believe it or not, Oriental Express' 3.9 stars was the best rating of any of the Chinese places that came up as delivery options and there were quite a few, I want to say at least 4 or 5. I was very pleasantly surprised. I ordered fried tofu (they gave options of hunan sauce or szechuan sauce and I went with the latter) and GF ordered fried bean curd and the two dishes were basically identical but with difference sauces. You really coudln't tell the difference just by looking at them and we decided to just share them. I went a little bit to town because the holidays always put me in a celebratory mood: i also ordered the vegetable dumplings and scallion pancakes. GF ordered the vegetable spring rolls. We ALSO got what appear to be two egg rolls, significantly bigger than the little package of 2 rolls. I don't recall adding that to the cart so I don't know what happened there but I'm not complaining. My parents were over and ordered chicken and broccoli. They seemed to enjoy it. The bean curd/tofu dishes were really tasty. I liked the texture of the tofu. I prefer it to be more cooked than raw and they delivered on that. The dumplings were really big and tasty. The scallion pancakes were undercooked and soft/bendy, I like more crispy pancakes so that was the low point of the meal. I will put my air fryer to use when I tackle the leftovers later. Omg I completely forgot that I also got vegetable lo mein (I told you I was going to town). I haven't had this in years so I don't know if I consider myself qualified to critique. The portion was certainly very generous. It was enjoyable but the flavor could have been better to really knock it out of the park. This is probably a personal preference kind of thing. I will say that I think the noodle to vegetable ratio was ideal. I would order from here again if the urge strikes. read more

For local Chinese food, this is the place I frequent. Food comes out fast, hot and tasty. Owners are friendly and menu has an array of choices. Food is never iffy in quality and when I order chicken it tastes like chicken, fish tastes like fish etc. Other places I've been to it seems that the wok gets flavors mixed but here it's always as I expect. I hope they stick around b/c I would be lost without my local Chinese food fix! read more

I had dinner from here last night and decided it was time to update my review. The food is fresh, tasty and based on my last 2 times here, never greasy. The egg roll was light and crispy, not those oily messes so common today. I lived in Yorktown for 12+ years, and this is the best chinese place in town. The place has changed hands in that time, and it's gotten slightly worse, but is still very, very good. One caution - if you order egg foo young, sometimes they like to make it ahead of time and precook the patties. Make sure you get a fresh batch. Bottom line: highly recommended, cheap too. Ask for the shrimp & chicken combination, but tell them you want garlic sauce. read more

Under new management in the last year, and the new folks are GREAT! They have some actual skills, mostly undiscovered by the average customer who just wants to order without thought. I recommend the crab Rangoon among other things. read more

Food is always good at Oriental Express. We especially love the boneless spare ribs. They are sooooo good and we have turned so many people on to them. We tend to order the same dishes but always tasty. The lady in the front is friendly and welcoming. read more

For typical, americanized chinese takeout it was very good. Took out 2 combo lunches; wonton soup, chicken curry with fried rice, shrimp and garlic sauce, fried rice, egg roll. The soup broth was complex, the wontons perfect - not hard or thick skinned. The eggroll was crispy without being over done or greasy. The chicken curry was typical with lots of onions and snap peas, a bit of heat and not oily. Just fine. The shrimp and garlic sc was the standout with a sauce not too sweet, great portion of mushrooms, broccoli and other veggies with small shrimp. The fried rice was simple (no pork in the combo) and a good vessel for the food. All of it was made with a light hand with super fresh ingredients and again, not oily which is huge in my book. Well made chinese food does not need to be overly sauced or oiled which is common place here. I've tried probably every chinese takeout in the area. This is the best I've had so far. read more

Finally got a chance to visit this place again after many years and was very impressed. The store front is merely a counter and a kitchen. There are only 3 tables in the vestibule. Since it's located in a small shopping center, parking is a breeze. We ordered the triple crown, lo mein, sesame chicken, egg roll, and barbecue spare ribs. Phoned in the order and had to wait a few minutes when I arrived but that's ok. The little vestibule is a throwback to the 1970's. I was impressed by the fact that it was snowing out on a Saturday night and they still had many customers. The food was very impressive, tasty and the portions generous. The only reason I cannot give it the 5th star at this time is that the pork lo mein had a very slight hint of curry in it. Could've been a slight cooking error.
