BeanRunner Café - A Peekskill Gem! I've been to BeanRunner many times, and it continues to be one of those unique spots in Peekskill that has its own personality and vibe. This time I stepped away from my usual order and tried the Mediterranean Salad, and I'm glad I did! It comes topped with grilled chicken and is served with pita slices and hummus. Everything worked together perfectly--it was fresh, flavorful, filling, and just really good! My usual go-to, though, is The Hurdle--turkey, bacon, Gouda cheese, sesame ginger dressing, lettuce, and tomato on panini bread. I definitely customize mine : no tomato, extra bacon, no dressing, and I prefer it cold instead of hot. So good! I also had a mocha with an extra espresso shot and extra chocolate , while my daughter and my mom enjoyed breakfast. What really makes BeanRunner special is the atmosphere. You can sit inside or outside, and the whole place gives me a cool Brooklyn lounge/café feel. Inside, you have beautiful authentic brick walls, plants thoughtfully placed throughout the seating areas, and curated artwork displayed on the walls--some of which is even available for purchase. Smooth jazz and R&B playing in the background just adds to the vibe. They cater to and strongly support local artists and musicians which is very cool! There's also a back patio, a quieter separate seating room away from the main floor, and outdoor seating with umbrellas. The outdoor area gives me a little Fort Greene/Lafayette triangle vibe, which I really enjoy. And BeanRunner is more than just a café. They have live music on weekends, and from what I'm told, they have a GOOD time! They also host poetry slams and open mics, which adds even more character to the place. They serve desserts and smoothies too, so there's plenty beyond coffee and sandwiches. The location is tucked back on Esther Place in Peekskill, across from the large Assumption Church building, and that may honestly be BeanRunner's biggest disadvantage. I truly believe that if this place weren't so tucked away, they'd be packed every day. Great food, great coffee, beautiful atmosphere, music, art, plants, indoor and outdoor seating--BeanRunner has a little bit of everything. Because of the low price and high quality, this is the best coffee place that I have been to in Westchester. Their medium iced coffee was DELICIOUS, less than $5 with a flavor customization/oatmilk, and they used frozen coffee cubes rather than normal ice. It never watered down. Decided to give this place a try while in Peekskill this morning and so glad I did. I never get to try daytime food in Peekskill since I work in the city during the week and on weekends mostly eat in or locally (Yorktown) anyway, my daughter and I stopped in and chose to eat outside. Perfect day sun above us with a nice cool breeze. I had a caramel latte, she had juice. My latte was perfect and they serve in coffee mugs that make you feel like your home not just a diner like coffee mug. I had the Greek Omelette which was soooo good and my daughter had the Veggie Omelette also very good. The home fries for me were good but I like mine cooked more crispy and I had forgotten to ask for salt and pepper which probably would have made it more seasoned which was a bit lacking for me but my daughter said hers were perfect. Overall still will be back again as the friendly staff and yummy food made this to my newest breakfast stops worth my 15 min drive. read more

An absolutely terrific time at the Bean Runner cafe last night. They had a classic Salsa band playing on the street in front of the cafe and a nice crowd of guests dancing and having a great time. Peekskill is an old town that has developed a very nice group of breweries and restaurants around the town and quite a nice crowd of young people moving in to the beautiful lofts that are developed from the great old architecture found throughout. The bean runner offers great service and cold beer. The food and drinks are ok but they do offer a good collection of wines and beer. They have a beautiful collection of art work throughout the restaurant but the best part was the entertainment which was fantastic! read more

Okay- one story will sum it up. They have this waitress there, an older unkept lady ( could be the owner, probably not)- I was seated at my table, i was alone, it was a cafe table for two , the place was full-this arrogant asshead comes over with a full tray of beverages and puts it down on my table in front of me in an agressive way. Those drinks were for all the surrounding tables. What frickin nerve- that was a first- i glared angrily at her to show my displeasure- she didnt GAF. Been here probably 3x's since summer but need to find another place. Real simple... hugely and ridiculously overpriced, horrible servers and frankly, I can't figure out what they specialize in or are good at here. It certainly isn't the coffee or service! The latter seriously needs improvement! I met the owner and his wife and both could not have been nicer so I'm sorry for the poor review but man, breakfast shouldn't cost $65 and like I said, the coffee is absolutely nothing special. First time and we loved it, I had the Lobster Bisque soup and it was just delishhhhh wished it came with the crackers and I also had the Cross Country wrap (Chicken, guacamole, grilled and peppers, cheddar cheese, salsa, sour cream & lettuce on a spinach wrap) and OMG my mouth just danced with joy. It did take a lille longer to get our food, but the wait was worth it. Now let's talk about inside, I love how they support local artist as they have their paintings displayed on their walls and you can purchase them right there on the spot. A must try if you are in Peekskill. The environment is very family friendly. I brought my two kids. My entire family really enjoyed. I ordered a chocolate peanut butter smoothie. I really liked this place's cozy, small town, coffee shop atmosphere. It's the type of place the Gilmore Girls would get a cup of coffee. The outdoor seating makes makes you feel like you're in a place that isn't Peekskill, no offense to Peekskill. The food menu is comparable to a diner. We went here today for lunch, not knowing what to expect. We were greeted at the door and took a seat. The service was quick and friendly. I had the Flatbush Jog, and my girlfriend had the Olympic Mile. She doesn't like garlic, and there was no problem leaving the garlic drizzle off. The sandwiches were fresh and delicious!! The cole slaw was so good, o wanted to take a container home. We finished with a slice of carrot cake that was moist and has the perfect amount of cream cheese frosting. When the stars are aligned (good music / fine weather) the BeanRunner's outside summer stage situated between two streets works perfectly. Tables are spaced accordingly yet there was a cozy / comfortable atmosphere this Saturday night. Food is safe but limited to sandwiches and salads as we did enjoy the "Run Devil Run" - chicken with red pepper buffalo sauce, blue cheese, lettuce & tomato on a panini - Spicy good. I'm disappointed with this place. We went to get brunch here, and their $24 "big" breakfast included two small pancakes, a small omelet and two pieces of turkey bacon. It was not enough to fill one person. They never brought us milk for our coffee, utensils, or anything we needed. We had to go get our own things because the waitress forgot to bring us anything and then charged us a fee for using a credit card. They also forgot part of our order and never brought it. Found this place while we were visiting Peekskill. The place is very trendy inside. The art on the walls was very interesting. The food was good and priced just right. With the current COVID set up it felt a tiny bit awkward. We're not from the area and it seemed like we were expected to know what their protocols were. Visted this cozy spot this past weekend and it felt like I was on vacation listening to a live Caribbean band. The live band was great... We did not get to taste the food because we had eaten prior to arriving but everyone at our table was raving about the Roti. Stopped in on a rainy day for a late lunch and a cappuccino. Being that it was after lunch but not quite dinner time, it was nice and quiet. We were immediately greeted very warmly and given menus. Ordered the Mediterranean and a fiesta salad, and both were brought out quickly. Service was very friendly and we will definitely have to go back on a night when they have live music. Menus are limited with soup and sandwich, but they serve sangria and wines. Small Pitcher of sangria was $22 but it was tasty. I ordered fresh fruit crepes which was very dry and rough.
