FABULOUS little diner with excellent service and great food! We were at a Farmer's Market nearby, and it was SO hot outside! We decided to find a place to get breakfast nearby, so I looked up diners, and this one was just a few minutes away. I also loved that it was a smaller local diner, so we decided to try it. LOVED how friendly everyone was as soon as we walked in the door. I also loved that they had a crab cake benedict special, so I had to have it! It was delicious! The potatoes it came with were also delicious. I rarely finish those when I get breakfast, and I took all my leftovers home and ate them all later that day. SO GOOD! I would go back just for that. I can't wait to try some of their other food, as I have no doubt it will be just as good! read more

Best food in town. Amazing staff and service. Super kid friendly. My son loves the pancakes and all the "Benny" dishes are phenomenal. They make the best chicken and waffles I've ever had. We have been to their special events (Halloween, Christmas, and Easter) and always had a phenomenal time. This place is not to be missed! read more

Service here is phenomenal. Sometimes it gets a little slow but trust me the food is worth it. It's just a small diner, they do a bunch of homemade baking and it's always a hit. Love the Biscuits and Gravy and the cheddar chive scone is to die for. Everyone's always happy and the two owners really make the experience so get there before 2! read more

They are in over their head. Above average food, understaffed, ornery ownership. There are plenty of after church options for breakfast. We were left for dead at our table without staff in sight. The rude nature of Dana was the highest degree of angry and rude ever in any environment let alone a restaurant. read more

Dined here for a late weekday breakfast. We came here based on strong online reviews, after visiting then leaving another area breakfast restaurant that was extremely busy. At Dana's, there were a handful of tables occupied but overall it was relatively empty. Service was pleasant, although a bit slow especially considering it wasn't busy. The food itself was disappointing which was surprising given the positive reviews. We had standard breakfast fare (pancakes, eggs, bacon, etc). The pancakes were large but tasteless, the bacon was overcooked and the eggs were bland. I had a few bites then stopped. Perhaps we dined on an off day or there was some other explanation. Maybe I will give it another try at another time but this experience certainly did not leave me wanting to return. read more

It's a newer diner in town and I've been there a half dozen times or so and I've gotten both breakfast and lunch and I've been so impressed by how incredible this place is....it's not a diner it's a gourmet diner in my opinion.... the owners or husband and wife and I've learned that they have both been chefs for a long time in New York City before opening this place up....such nice personable people! The food has so much flavor!!!! Everything is amazing! I had the biscuits and gravy which were amazing! Every time my dad goes there he gets the same thing biscuits and gravy or one of the burgers that he is in love with as om I (Oklahoma burger). The burgers are great, I've had several omelettes and the biscuits can't be this place.... i've heard amazing things about their zucchini waffles which I have not had yet! I went to Dana's Diner with my wife for breakfast today. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Friendly service and a nice clean establishment. I ordered a steak & cheese omelette. It was fantastic. The beef was so good. (It was NOT that stringy greasy stuff.) It was so flavorful combined with the other vegetables and melted cheese. It was a nice change of pace and a real delight. The owners are very personable and fun to talk to. I highly recommend Dana's Diner. Give them a try the next time you are hungry. read more

This is a new storefront diner in Mahopac. First visit today and it was great. We will definitely be going back. Staff was friendly and service was spot on. We had breakfast for lunch and it was wonderful. Well sized portions and the home fries were excellent. We need to support new local businesses at this time. Highly recommended. This Hudson River Valley Diner will satisfy its hungriest vegetarian guests. To be honest, I don't have the highest expectations for most places that claim to have vegetarian- friendly options. So, I was very pleasantly surprised when I saw the breakfast menu curated and prepared by chef-proprietors Dana and Tom featuring not only vegetarian omelettes and Eggs Benedicts, but also several hearty breakfast bowls, zucchini waffles, and a variety of side dishes. I arrived at 8 am, and the pre-rush quiet allowed me to get the low-down from Dana about their philosophy and vision for their new restaurant. I ordered the veggie Benedict, a side of black beans, and a bowl of their homemade yogurt. Dana shared they make three batches of their excellent Hollandaise sauce to keep up with the brisk demand for their Benedicts during the weekend rush and the poached eggs were tender and perfectly set. i was pleased to noticed that the black beans were prepared from dried beans with onion, garlic, and chilies. And the sour cream-like consistency of Dana's homemade citrus yogurt left me puzzling long afterward how she pulled off both the flavor and consistency for my own batches at home. The current lunch menu's vegetarian options are fewer, the owners regularly adjust the menu to make the most of available local, seasonal produce. I look forward to trying some of their other vegetarian friendly breakfast menus when I come back through on my next visit to the area. read more
