Best coffee (Bear Mountain Roasters) and the baconeggandcheese is the best in the area, probably because they use local ingredients. I love the decor at the Freight House. They have outdoor seating but we came on a Sunday on a soggy weather so we were not able to enjoy our meals outside. Coffee is self served and they offer different flavors. "Freight House " Coffee is strong and we love it that way. Just the flavorful toasted taste Without the burnt taste. If you are dining in, mugs are available. If you want coffee to be served piping hot like we do, just asked them to zap it and they would gladly do it for you. Menu is provided to you once seated and once you know what to order, you go upfront and placed them. The dishes will be served when ready. If you are familiar with 9W market, the set up is similar however Freight house is cozier. On a Sunday , around noon, a guitarist started to perform inside. Being seated inside, the sound system didn't work for our sensitive ears ... lol , the music played was good though. If seated outside, would be perfect. Now onto to our breakfast orders: Putnam - delicious. For next time, we will request the maple syrup on the side because it was too much for our liking. Mushroom toast - delicious. But i don't remember the last time I went to a food establishment and couldn't finish the food. I ordered a simple breakfast wrap, with sausage as my meat choice. I took like 3 bites and I couldn't finish it. It was just not good at all. I stopped by here with my fiancé for breakfast before meeting with our DJ a couple doors down from here. The decoration of the interior gave a country-homey vibe. We were greeted by an employee that welcomed us and take a seat anywhere like to make it feel like home. She told us to come to the counter when we were ready to order. I just got a basic mushroom and feta omelette that was good. We noticed that they offered quite of selection of coffee from bear mountain coffee brewers. Cute place with a narrow private deck in back with seating and shade. Its parallel to the rail trail so bikers have access for delivery via a pulley system they created. Very clever. There's even a menu by the rail trail so bikers can read it without going into the restaurant. I came here on a early Tuesday afternoon. You order everything and pay inside at the front desk first. They'll then bring you're food out to you, but you are in charge of getting your own water or coffee. Not a big deal. I went with my mom and grandma, so i had to make a few trips in and out. The coffee wasn't very hot, but they did have one option for organic coffee which I liked. I ordered the chai smoothie which was blended with a banana. Very tasty, but it's not very big and they charge $9. Its not like there is any alcohol in it. That's Manhattan smoothie prices. The food, however, was okay priced. A small, but very tasty pressed "mahopac wrap" was $10.75. It was filled with rice, beans, sour cream, etc, with your choice of meat of sauteed veggies. I got it with veggies so it had spinach, carrots, etc. Very nice. It only came with a little homemade coleslaw on the side. I would go to them again, especially with my boyfriend once its dark since I saw lots of bulbs hung up on the trees by the deck seating area. It must be romantic looking at night. read more

I honestly feel bad leaving this review. The service was great, the place was very nice and hipster, cool vibes. Unfortunately the food was not it. I got a breakfast bowl, the menu said it had rice and beans, pico de gallo, sour cream and avocado. I decided to get it with some chicken. The food took a bit to come which was fine, the menu stated it was all home cooked. However, when I got my food it wasn't what I envisioned. The rice was very very tumeric-y, the "pico de gallo" was just cut up tomatoes and unfortunately I had cut up cold turkey instead of chicken. The flavors weren't there, it just wasn't good. Sorry!
