This was an outstanding restaurant - I'm blown away. It's a small restaurant with many customers…read moregoing in and out to pick up their food, but there are some dine-ins like my family. The waitress was so sweet and friendly, and though she didn't speak a lot of English, she still made us feel very welcome. The food was AMAZING! We had never had Ecuadorian food before, and will definitely be coming back. The portions are HUGE, and the prices are sooo cheap especially given how much meat and seafood was on our plates! We got: 1. Pollo Cabaña: It was a little salty but soooo flavorful and it came with so much rice!! The chicken was really tender, and the plantain was grilled perfectly. Yum!! 2. Camarones Al Ajillo (Garlic Shrimp) w Tostones (Green Plantains): The tostones we're delicious!!! Especially with the sauce, which was amazing and so garlicky and flavorful. Both the shrimp and the rice pair well with the sauce, which is so intense and packs a flavor punch! 3. Sopa de Mariscos (Seafood Soup): I was so impressed by how much seafood was in the soup-it came with generous portions of crab, mussels and shrimp, and the rice noodles in the soup were tender and delicious. I can't even describe the flavor of the soup, but it's creamy and not too fishy and tasty. 4. Mar y Tierra (Grilled Meats): This came with SO much meat-beef, chicken, fish, and shrimp! The beans that came on the side were flavorful and delicious with the rice, and the meat-especially the chicken-was perfectly grilled and juicy. 5. Carne Apanada: This was breaded beef, and it was thinly pounded and so crispy and yummy!! Even the white rice that came with several of the dishes was flavorful-it had coconut milk in it, I think. They put so much effort into all the dishes and little details. I am so impressed!! You should pay with cash to avoid the 4% card fee, and the parking lot is very tight, so prepare for that! But if you want an authentic, delicious meal, this is your place!! 10000/10 stars!

For at least…read morethe last two years lunch has been $13 (soup, salad, rice & beans + a choice of meat or fish). Today after lunch and being charged $15.65 I asked - Why not $13. Two servers told me that the Pernil went up and now Lunch with Pernil (which I had) was $15.65! Pork shot up the price $2.65! I would like for someone at LaCabana to confirm that a $2.65 raise in cost of lunch was due to rize in cost of pork shoulder!

Just got in town...wandering around for a lunch spot and saw Columbia House...quickly checked…read more"Yelp" of course...and based on reviews it was a go. Besides almost every table full at 1:15 lunch...including the back room and it is a large restaurant. We were seated without a wait. Took longer to navigate the huge menu. Hubby and I just wanted a light lunch. He ordered the chicken wings and I ordered the "fish" sandwich w/o cheese. Unfortunately, I was served the chicken sandwich not the requested fish sandwich. It still came with avacado, onions, tomato and lettuce. (No cheese as requested). Once I took a bite I realized I had the wrong sandwich. I was disappointed. Waiter apologized and offered to switch it up...I can see he felt bad and we were not quite sure where we both messed up...could have been me? Him? Not a big deal...I just kept it and enjoyed. Chicken was slighty dry (cheese would have fixed the dryness) but seasoned perfectly. It was a large sandwich with two layers of thin grilled chicken. I would split it next time. I like the way it was served...wrapped in a paper. I requested un-seasoned fries and my request was honored. It was all a generous portion. The restaurant is high energy, food around us all looked delicious and fresh, cocktails looked really good...I wanted to taste the cappuccino martini next to us...tempting to order one. Service was timely, friendly and efficient. Noise level a tad high however it was easy enough to carry on a conversation. Overall, I understand the reason this place was so busy...definately a solid fun place...wish it were on my neighborhood as I enjoy exploring different dishes. Thumbs up for sure.

Fun, authentic and mostly delicious Colombian food. Bakery too! :)…read more Very friendly service. Large, very comfortable room. I wish they had fresh juices (not just fake OJ called "fresh") that's the only part that does not feel truly Colombian.

They also see to it that we get what we want and took their time to explain everything! The food is good and drinks are fantastic, hopefully they lessen the ice. But so far it has been always a great experience eating here. :) Only thing is their bathroom can improve when it comes to cleanliness. Other than that we will be back!

I've been to this Colombian restaurant chain many times over the years, including locations in New…read moreJersey, Port Chester, and this review is specifically for the Nanuet location. Over the years, I've noticed that both the food quality and service have been inconsistent. There have been visits where I left very satisfied with both the staff and the food. However, there have also been occasions when unexpected charges appeared on the final bill, which was disappointing. On this most recent visit, the food was good overall, I'd describe it as average and fair for the price. The restaurant was busy, though not completely full, since they were showing the Brazil vs. Norway soccer match. They definitely have the setup and atmosphere for soccer fans, especially with the World Cup excitement. One downside involved our drinks. We ordered a Passion Fruit Margarita and a Passion Fruit Caipirinha. Since they looked almost identical, we weren't sure which was which when they arrived. The drinks were dropped off by the manager, not our waitress, and he walked away immediately. When we called him back to ask which drink was which, he replied in a slightly ironic tone, "Which one do you think it is?" We explained that was exactly why we were asking as we could not identify. He then said one had sugar on the rim and the other had salt. Unless you're a bartender or taste each drink, that's not immediately obvious. It wasn't a major issue, but I was surprised by the response. A simple, courteous answer would have been appreciated. There was another interaction that left a similar impression. We asked our waitress approximately how long the food would take because we were considering ordering an appetizer if the wait was long. Her response was simply, "I don't know, and I can't tell you how long." While I understand exact times aren't always possible, a more helpful response would have gone a long way. I would have gladly given this place one more star if those service interactions hadn't happened. The food was decent, but the customer service made the experience less enjoyable. I'm not sure whether I'll choose this location again, especially considering it isn't an inexpensive restaurant. I hope they can improve the level of hospitality because the food and for this World Cup season the soccer atmosphere certainly have potential.

Horrible. Very inconsistent…read more Today was my 5th meal here and it will be my LAST. Today they had what they called chorizo, which was indeed in a sausage-like casing but instead of meat inside it was just leftover rice bound with pork fat. It was DISGUSTING....and completely unlike any chorizo I've ever had. I've had Peruvian, Ecuadorian, Colombian, Guatemalan and even Americanized versions -- but this was nothing like any of them....it was CRAP! I can't tell which culture they are supposed to be for certainty, but I doubt any culture would claim a food article that sickened all 4 people who tasted it, one only making it across the street before tossing cookies.... In the past they had empinadas which were usually VERY thin and lacking in terms of the filling (usually Queso)...however today they were out of them by 9:10 AM, with no plans to make more. The miscellaneous hot beverages on the counter opposite the cashier are nice, but I have no clue what they are and they certainly are not labeled.... Their selection of factory made (canned/bottled drinks in the fridge is good including Manzana and several other Latin drinks. In the past I've had good and bad experiences, but today was just so horrible they deserve to be put on blast... The inconsistency even goes so far as to be in the pricing! The green plantains served as a side on my plate with the "Chorizo" apparently added $3 to the cost of my plate, which were included every time before.... And now to add to the survey questions below: Ambiance - what ambiance? The place has a TV which is usually BLASTING-ly loud! It has rows of cafeteria style tables for seating -- and when the food wasn't nasty and the prices higher for no apparent reason -- it was good, but when it was bad it was pretty bad - this time was just ATROCIOUS!

Had a delicious plate of food and drink here after a solid hike. Nice option for anyone looking for…read moregood food with value for money.
