The biscuits are homemade they are so good.. the flavors and seasoning in the he portions are perfection. My husband had the on Andouille Scramble it was so yummy. It came with biscuits and potatoes. Good for late night. I enjoy the PBB Burger. Kinda overpriced for the portions, for both food and drink. But it is downtown. It's good stuff. I'll probably be back. Welcome Diner is a classic downtown. Their food is exactly what you'd expect from a diner- hearty and filling and yummy. I love all their vegetarian/ vegan options, and being from the south- I appreciate their fried green tomatoes (although some ranch or pimento cheese would be welcomed.) They had a blueberry sour beer on tap as their special, which was a nice surprise. The cocktails are pretty basic, but it's cool they make their own fruit punch and ginger beer. The service was friendly and relatively quick, and I like the diner vibe for a casual stop otw home. They're open late night, so it's a good choice for after a game or bar. read more

The biscuit was really good. They say it's made from scratch. It felt a thinner but wider biscuit would have suited the thinner/wider chicken piece. The biscuit felt a little too dry due to the thickness. Otherwise, the flavor was very good! 4/5 Fries reminded me of in n out. The problem i had was that mine were very small and short. Hard to dip in sauce. Felt like it was the very last remnants of a batch. A little over cooked and small. Lot's of potential. Only sauce that i am aware of was ketchup at the table. Some other options would have been nice. The location is in a residential neighborhood just outside of the bustle. The decor was unique and fun (especially the bathroom). Service was good. Great Friendly Diner Not sure what took me so long to visit Welcome Diner, I've passed by so many times. I'm so glad I stopped today. Welcome Diner has a nostalgic feeling and an outdoor pet friendly, patio makes for a casual and comfortable dining experience. Our meals and service went beyond our expectations. Everything was perfectly delicious and the staff are so friendly and accommodating. On this visit I ordered the Welcome breakfast (two eggs, seasoned potatoes, and homemade biscuit) and my lunch companion had the the Jose burger (which he said was one of the best he has ever had) with fries (the very skinny kind). Everything was fresh, made to order, well seasoned, and served pipping hot. As full as we were, we still made room to share a slice of their Salted Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie Slice, all I have to say is, leave room for the pie! read more

From visit 12/29/24... I lucked out and got a parallel parking spot right in front of the restaurant. As I walked up to the front, I went to enter into the diner, I let the person at the stand know that I wanted to go to the restroom before I sat. When I came back from the restroom, I asked if I could sit outside, he said absolutely. He gave me the menu and told me to sit where I wanted, and when I was ready to order, to come up to the window. About three minutes later, I walked up to the windowwith questions. He answered all my questions with ease, and was very helpful (did not get irritated ONE BIT and sometimes I be a little extra. Thank you NAME and Thank You for your ! Google said they were dog friendly so I brought my little YorkiePoo. Already, two families with a kid were so happy to see him and were so nice. I love when my puppy put smiles on peoples faces :) Anyway, I got the chicken burger (which I never order chicken sandwiches) but I asked NAME which he prefer and he said this one. I decided to add bacon because I love bacon on burgers. I also got a side Caesar salad and a whiskey sour with the egg whites. If you haven't had a whiskey sour made at a full bar, with egg whites, try it... That is the classic way to make a whiskey sour. Anyway, great first experience. I love trying new places, but if I'm ever back in the area with a friend, who I know hasn't been here, I will definitely bring them. A little hidden gem in downtown Phoenix. It looks like it could be someone's house from the outside. Inside it is eclectic. There is counter seating, booths and lots of outdoor seating. Fun artwork and graffiti in the bathrooms. Service is slow. Very slow. Even to greet you with water. They get busy and behind easily it seems. And our server never checked on us after we got food. She seemed stressed. Food was SO GOOD!! It is worth the wait and the slow service. Burger, chicken sandwich on scratch made biscuits, fried green tomato sandwich on Noble bread- yeessssssss please!! The only words he said to us were "have a good night," at the end, while every other table got warm greetings and smiles. We still spent nearly $100 with tip since I'm in the service industry and won't take that away from anyone, but it definitely wasn't worth it. What a really lovely dining experience. The ambiance. The staff. The food. All fantastic. First off, the restaurant is tucked off a side street just off downtown. I asked if we can sit at the booth because I have a bad back and knees. I was told it's for large parties only. I basically said since we cannot be accommodated we will just go somewhere else. We were immediately met with an "I'm sorry", then we left. The poutine fries were fine, but would've tasted a lot better if they weren't $13. I liked that the fries were thin + crispy, but not too crispy and dried out. Honestly really well done on that front. The Brussels sprouts were fine but no stand-out. I felt I could've cooked it myself, and that's saying a lot. I was excited about the house made ginger beer in my Moscow mule, but wished it was a lot more flavorful than it was. It low key could have been mistaken for lemonade. The Spaghett was fun + tasty. The food was outstanding. I had the welcome breakfast. The home fries were the best I have ever had. The biscuit and homemade jelly were outstanding. On our last night in Phoenix my wife and I were looking for a spot to have a nice burger and adult beverages, a quick Yelp search suggested Welcome Diner. Ironically, we walked past this place a couple days prior and my first thought was, "any establishment that has "diner (e.g. Mel's Diner)" in it's name can't be good! Boy was I wrong! When we entered we were warmly greeted by our server, Brock. Brock quickly provided us with waters and menus, I ordered the "No Way Jose" burger and a Margarita. While we sipped on our margaritas, our food arrived within less than 15 minutes. The burger tasted as delicious as it looked and overall exceeded my expectations. As we enjoyed our delicious meals, Brock did a great job of checking in on us without hovering. He was slightly concerned when he observed that we had devoured our fries without touching our burgers, we gently explained to him that we always devour our fries before addressing the main meal option. Although the margarita wasn't our favorite (I think us Californian's are spoiled by the fact that you can generally get a good margarita anywhere you go), we loved the "Dessert Blossom" craft cocktail that Brock suggested and personally concocted for us. I'm always enamored when someone shows a deep passion in something, and is brave to share it for public consumption. In the future, I hope to hear that Brock has opened his own speakeasy (he gave off friendly, speakeasy vibes). Now they did change the tomato topping on the grilled cheese and it was really not as good but all in all the sandwich was OK. The chicken biscuit was great. Almost too big for a smaller meal. From the first moment we walked in the door...the service was great! The waiter was personable, and when asked he volunteered his favorites (it was our first visit). We decided to split a mouth watering "Champion" burger that (believe it or not) was THE BEST burger that we have EVER tasted. Also had a slice of their "Salted Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie".
