Really wanted to like this place, but I went three times and had three negative experiences. The first time, the esthetician styled my brows different from what I requested. On my second visit, I was overcharged. It took a return trip and what felt like a lot of explaining on my part to have the charge reversed. The decanter of whiskey in the waiting area of the lobby made me smile and my experience kept me smiling. However, after a really horrible shaving incident that left me with scars I decided to give them a try for the bikini wax and was blown away with how professional, efficient and straight up awesome they are. I have been waxed by Connie and Heather. They both did a great job and have awesome attitudes. I love that their styles are so different, it lets you know that they aren't trained in a specific way but are allowed to do what has worked best for them in their experiences. I never thought I would feel comfortable with such a personal experience, but I do! I am six months pregnant and it is so nice having the work done for me. My only criticism would be their front desk procedures. They could really benefit from hiring a full-time, minimum wage receptionist to answer the phone and greet customers. I specify minimum wage simply because times are tough; I personally know seven different college students that would be happy to schedule appointments for $8.55 an hour. read more

I came here for a brazilian after another studio had seriously messed it up, and everything grew back within a couple of days. I waited a couple of weeks and went to Wax On...and my experience was fine. Nothing outstandingly bad OR good about this place. It's brisk and bright in the room; my technician was nice though she was on the phone a lot and so we had some delays getting me into the room and then getting started because I could hear her making phone calls - get online scheduling or something, you guys! The wax itself was sufficient - it fixed the other salon's bad job, but wasn't particularly good or bad. Sugaring hurts less than waxing, if you're curious...I clearly did NOT get sugared at Wax On! Nothing too much to say either way - the price was ok, service nice enough, and I don't hate the job they did. read more

They get the job done quickly and painlessly (within reason). The degree to which you get pampered and chatted up varies by esthetician. I like to talk during my bikini wax because it distracts me. As long as it gets done fast and there is little to no plucking afterwards, I'm good. I like the "between" wax. With my eyebrows, it's been hit or miss. I have only had one person do them badly. Others have really spent time thinning and shaping and putting chocolate lotion on afterwards. That's nice and my eyebrow appreciate it. Then - sometimes by the same person - I have also had quick rips and plucks, with no thin and no lotion. Lame. The front of the house is interesting. There is no receptionist, so if you walk in while the estheticians are with people, no one will greet you. Oh well. That also means that you will rarely get a person to answer to phone - you have to leave a message. There is only one person I would not recommend and had several bad experiences with: Shelley. This was the aforementioned eyebrow incident (actually, twice), and she double-books and rushes, and I could go on. She sucks. Heather is good. The owner, Anne, rocks. read more

They offer different waxes in a variety of fragrances. They also offer many cute pieces of lingerie to go with your newly waxed body. Once we were checked in, we were offered whiskey or tequila to unwind and relax. Say what? Yes please. We each saw separate people at the same time and I thought Shelley did such a nice job of keeping conversation light and fun. The products they used smelled nice and made my skin silky and happy. My friend really liked her gal too. I plan on returning in 5 weeks for another treatment. Only con- the 2 waxing rooms share one wall with a small window at the top (you can't see through it) so you can hear the other room very well. First time I've never had to brace. Whatever strips they use to pull the wax off are cottony soft. She was thorough, respectful, and friendly. The room was perfectly comfortable on a hot day, and clean. Met the owner's rad friend Stella on the way out and was given a welcome treat for my first time visit and made a VIP when I booked my next appointment. This tuesday I had thee most unfortunate event of scheduling a brow wax with someone I had never seen before. 0 star experience First lets be clear I had not touched my brows in months and I am of Mediterranean decent so I have a lot of hair. The lady I saw was at the kirkland location-Athena. 1st she was late, then she rushed through my apt without saying 1 word to me, and when I saw what she had done with my eyebrows I almost wanted to cry. One brow had a noticeable chunk missing and was not uneven, when I asked her about it she declined touching the missing chunk area. Now as I mentioned before I had not touched my brows in months and I had a lot of eyebrow hair to begin with so know It was her fault. I had never experienced such poor service from the wax on spa until now and left wanting to cry. 10 star experience: I quickly rescheduled with Devon 2 days later who was recommended with a lot of brow experience. She somehow magically fixed my eyebrows without thinning them and now they look amazing! She was very friendly and I worth the 2 hour drive to her capitol hill location. She is an eyebrow wizard! I highly recommend her for brows she will not disappoint! I will definitely be going back to her again for all my future services. So I rated Wax on Spa 5 stars based on the fact since 2007 only once have I had such a poor experience paired with a poor brow wax service. I got my legs waxed by Nikki at this location and she had the attitude of someone who truly hates her job. She was rough and it seemed like she was in a rush for some reason (I showed up about 5-10mins before my appt). Which is odd as when initially I asked her qs about getting another area waxed she said she could prob do it. I even told her that she could be gentler as at times it was more painful than it needed to be because of how fast she was going. (She did not pay much attention to my comfort level) When I had visited previously I was told that at the end they give you a warm towel wipe down and apply body butter. At the end of my super rushed and rough session she handed me the towel and told me I could apply the butter on myself. WTF? (This was soooo not worth the over $100+ I paid) read more

Made an appointment for a Brazilian wax using the online system. Drove out to the Kirkland location from downtown for the appointment with Kelsey. I called several times before my appointment, including leaving a message, but no one answered or called me back, although my appointment was only 45 min after they opened. I arrived on time. Kelsey then told me that the online appointment hadn't gone through so she was now full. I asked if she could at least squeeze me for a 10 min bikini wax but the answer was a definite no. I had been to wax on in the past and had only wonderful experiences. Today I went and had the worst experience imaginable. I was so upset by what happened that I felt it really should be expressed so others might not learn the hard way like me. When I showed up for my brazillian, Min (my waxer) told me that my hair was slightly too short. I said to go ahead and wax it (I had waited the usual amount of time and never had issues in the past). She grabbed my pussy so hard and included the clitoris in the clamping down prior to pulling the wax strips. I was appalled! This has never happened before, and I expressed my discomfort, thinking clearly this was a mistake and it would not happen again. Wrong. She did this twice more before I, angered at her mistreatment of such a sensitive region and surprised by her apparent disregard for the pain she was inflicting, told her very frankly not to touch me there and that I was nearing my limit for pain and could she just finish up so I could get (the hell) out of there! She began to tweeze right on top of my pubic bone and I lost it. I got up, told her I was done, got dressed, paid and left. If there was some sort of place to voice complaints to their licensing officials, I most certainly would. This woman should not be allowed to touch anyone else the way she did me. Wax On had a very nice staff and the room had a comfy table. The esthetician (Christa) was nice, fast and knew what she was doing. I was her last appointment of the day and it appeared to me that she was rushing to get done and get out of there. I feel like several steps were skipped during the process, and i am left with unhappy with stubble from broken hairs that weren't removed, and hair that was missed all together. It was tender for a day or so after but nothing unusual. Making an appointment online was a snap and they confirmed via phone and email the day before. Horrible experience. I made an appointment for myself at 12:00 and my boyfriend at 12:15. The woman waxing my eyebrows finished and takes me to the waiting room at 12:18. Because he was lost, my boyfriend walked in at 12:20 and they refused to take him. Yes, he was late, but considering they also weren't completed w/ my appointment until 12:18, he was late by 2 minutes. Further, if you have a ridiculously strict 5 minute late policy, then you should tell people that when you book them for appointments. Incredibly awful customer service. Will not be returning, and I suggest you go somewhere where they care about you as a customer. And my eyebrows? Mediocre at best. read more

I went here for my first waxing experience and it was not at all what I expected. I had the full leg and Brazilian services. Like some other reviewers that have posted, I expected this to be more of a "spa" experience. It was more like being at the gynecologist. There was nothing relaxing or soothing about the experience. Just very "get in, pay, and get out." You are laid out on a bed in a tiny room with bright lights to stare at the whole time. I felt very rushed as I was ushered into a room, instructed to take off my pants and underwear, and had the door slammed closed behind me before I had barely walked in. The leg wax was not very painful I must admit - but the end results suck. I have stubble all over my legs and random patches where my hair (which i had grown out for five weeks) has not even been touched! Feels like a TOTAL waste of money as I now have to just shave my legs anyway. The Brazilian was ridiculously painful - but I had expected it would be. It wouldn't have been so bad had the esthetician been a little more patient with me - every time I winced or flinched she practically rolled her eyes and seemed to be really annoyed with me. This place blows - Don't hold your breath for a return phone call. Ok. It's the weekend. I'm really excited about getting a clean wax job and have a limited amt of time to do it. They have an online email appt form. I send it in requesting an appt for Saturday. Although they are open from 10-7pm, I never hear a peep from them. It's now Saturday night so I call and leave a message on their answering machine requesting a Sunday appt. Again, they are open from 10-7pm and completely ignore me. I try again on Monday, only to get a voicemail and STILL NO CALL BACK. If they are busy, then fine. Call me back and let me know. Don't just blow me off completely. I could have gone to someone else or scheduled another time. I'm so glad that a business does so well can treat potential customers so poorly. I can't get the manager because they only method of contact is a machine. In total exasperation, I finally resorted to getting my own waxing gear. Wax on Spa is definitely not worth anyone's time.
