It's about the militant policy and the assumption that her time is more important than anyone else's. This business has all the shortcomings of a large company, and none of the benefits of a small business. I originally was waxed a little 4 weeks ago. April advised that I come back five weeks later. I run a tight and busy schedule between school, work, and caretaking for an ill family member. During the interim my cell phone was broken by the ill family member (dementia) and I had to switch my phone out. When it came closer to the appointment, I looked through my emails and did not see an original booking message. My calendar did not carry over, and I then received a text message 24 hours before the appointment. I was surprised, because most salons will send a booking email and then a reminder before their cancellation policy... something for confirmation at the onset. I showed up on time with a mask on, and wanted to rebook as I had hardly any regrowth. She was immediately angry, telling me that "she deals with people like me all the time." I was pretty shocked. Not only that she was so quick to anger, but that me showing up and using my time (because time is money for everyone) meant absolutely nothing. She angrily said that she pays for the roof over her head with the clients she has keeping the appointments. Good to know I'm just another blank face with a credit card. I have worked in customer service in 5 star hotels, fine dining restaurants, and for companies that have excellent customer service. The basic concept is that both parties' time is important, not just one. Another concept is that I would often choose to go to "mom and pop" businesses to support them instead of larger companies. The understanding was always that if they would be accommodating every once in a while, then I would tip an increasing amount each time, usually topping off at 30-35%. I have always supported service people. But at this business, it has been made abundantly clear that this is not a service oriented business. It is a profit-driven business where everyone is merely a number. She then kicked me out, telling me that she's always fully booked and doesn't need any more money. That was a weird contradiction and told me that she was speaking from emotion, and not reason. If you are nearby or have more flexibility with your time, and don't mind being treated somehow worse than all of the service companies I've worked for before in the past two decades, should you ever take an effort and show up to reschedule out of good faith, then please by all means be a patron to this establishment. But if you are looking for someone who truly values people and honest customer service, this is definitely not the place for you. April doesn't even bother to send out a booking confirmation. I've shown up 15 minutes early to everything I've been responsible in my life: work, school, appointments. I showed up on time this time. Again, didn't even register since I wanted to reschedule and not pay for having two hairs waxed. This has nothing to do with entitlement on my end. I just don't have the time or the patience to deal with people who do not understand the basic tenets of good customer service or the way that the tipping system works in America.... meaning if you extend excellent customer service, you tip an excellent amount. I would have included this appointment's service amount in my tip had I been allowed to reschedule. I only give my money to businesses and people who understand customer service and have the humility to work with people. Hubris is not something I will ever deal with when it comes to paying for a service that is not a necessity from an economic standpoint. If I were to run my own business, and felt overwhelmed, I would at least automate a booking confirmation email or have a booking confirmation template ready to send in case anything happens to a client's calendar, as most people now track it via their phones and various devices. But she insists that everything she does is perfect and there's no room for improvement, and clearly everyone else has a problem. Talk about shifting the accountability and responsibility.

The service: Svetlana, the owner of Jill Bucy provides impeccable service with graciousness and sensitivity. I have very fair "Irish" skin so I typically let Svetlana access what my skin needs and then I let her do her magic. After receiving her facials my skin looks plumper, radiant, and healthy. Often my treatment consists of a two fold process first she uses a state of the art machine that helps promote collagen generation and tightens my skin. The second part is usually a facial and steam with high anti-oxidents such as vitamans A and E. This is NOT your typical "vacation facial" where a girl plops a bunch of product on your face gives you a scalp massage and then washes it off. This is serious skin care with visible results. She is generous with a sample or two so I can try out a product before investing. I now use 4 of BR products daily. Svetlana genuinely cares about my skin. She has even followed up with a phone call and texts after a pca peal to remind me to wear sun screen, drink water and see if the peal finished and how my skin felt and looked. The Place: The boutique is a lovely little spot in the MarQueen Hotel. The entire experience is easy, enjoyable, and exclusive, ( but not snooty). I pull up to the valet and he parks my car at no charge. I walk through the historic hotel lobby to the spa and enter into a quiet, friendly space which has a subtle parisian flare. The reception room is pretty and there is always a little dish of chocolates on the table, as well as teas or water waiting for me. Most of the time, I am the only client in the entire spa, other than the receptionist and the owner. On occasion, she may be finishing with another client in a separate room which is separated by large white paneled pocket doors. During my treatment the room is dimly lit with a pretty blue beaded chandelier and soft, soothing music never overpowers the space. I won't go anywhere else or trust anyone else with my facials in Seattle! :)

She said she could not do that, the system "wasn't set up that way" and I just had to pay and then see the receipt afterwards. I paid, then sure enough saw she added a $50 "consultation fee" just to buy product. It would be another thing if a consultation took place or even the fee disclosed; but for me to come and spend over $1,500 on product then have have a $50 surcharge snuck in for the "privilege" of shopping there is simply deceptive. Go to Penelope Beauty Bar at the Fairmont to buy the same BR products for the same price, and not feel like you're being taken for a ride. I know the economic environment is understandably causing hardship. I am more than happy to continue to support local business, just be up front about your fees instead of playing coy with hidden charges. Edit: They followed up and refunded the fee, saying it was charged in error. I appreciated the gesture.

Having a baby and working the weekends it's extremely hard so I was very grateful I found a place and Sugar waxing was different for me I thought I'd give it a try. I had my appointment with Kiana, she greeted me offered me a flass of wine and we proceeded to the waxing table. I didnt feel pain at first but halfway through the session i heard Kiana say "Oh Shit", i was reslly nervous what she did to me and my left eyelid was on fire I i asked her to please take a break. Another customer showed up and she told the customer 5 min as if she was rushing. She showed me my eyebrows and saw she had yanked, pulled off a bunch of my eyebrows that werent supposed to be removed. I even asked her for an "S Shape" and later continued to tell me to come back Morgan was a specialist in eyebrows. This is so effed up when i made the appointment i specifically told them i wanted an eyebrow wax and i had a lot of work and trusted them. I am in pain still, my skin is irritated and extremely burned and ended up having a black eye of how rough Kiana was with my brow. I got asked at work if i was assaulted it was embarrassing. The owner Vanessa got back to me 3 hrs later, it seemed to me they were more worried about a negative review than the customer. Also Kiana has left unsatisfied customers. I will put captions on the pictures how it looked like throughout the day and reviews of different customer and texts i received. This was the most painful experience I've ever experienced when it comes to eyebrow removal. Next time I am just sticking with eyebrow wax. I gave it a try, it's definitely not for me and again more painful than thread, or wax. To each their own but had a terrible experience and wish them well. I do hope the owner obviously sees that many customers have been dissappinted by Kiaras service. My advice look into this place before you go there. My experience was awful and very painful and ended up with burned, damaged skin, and a black eye.
