Result of asking for milk tea colored balayage at Pure Alchemy Salon

If you want your hair completely butchered and have a hairstylist and owner who blatantly lie to you and continue to screw with you months after dealing with them, go here. I went to Tisha and if she had admitted up front that she was unable to do what I asked for, that would have been fine and I wouldn't have proceeded. But at no point did she say or give ANY indication she couldn't do what I asked for after I showed the pics of what I wanted, which was a milk tea colored full balayage. Instead, I was left with an all-over blotchy orange and yellow bleach job and told that it just looked orangey because of the lighting in the salon. At that point I had been there for hours, was exhausted and had to go to the airport so I stupidly paid with a generous tip. After seeing how awful it looked in clear lighting and once I returned home, I contacted the stylist and then the owner to ask for a refund as I live out of town and could not return for a correction. The salon owner Amy Colleen Oswald admitted that what I was given was badly done and not what I asked for at all. I was completely civil and polite in my request and thanked her for understanding. Then the stylist refused to refund me and the owner reneged on what she had told me and said she couldn't do anything about it. They then agreed to a partial refund after telling me hair salons never give refunds (load of bs, do not believe this, I know hairstylists and friends in other states and after talking to them they said this is an utter lie considering what I was let with) The owner agreed to pay part of it after condescending to me and telling me a sob story about how I was taking money away from her personally after she had spent so much on Christmas. Even after all that, I let it go and thanked her for the money she said she'd send. She didn't send it for weeks until I reminded her. I've now had to pay twice as much as their original ridiculous expensive price to get a color correction and even more to purchase multiple products to try to deal with the damage, but it cannot be fixed and I will need to cut a significant amount off for it to look healthy again. According to the owner Amy, the paltry in comparison refund they sent to me is "more than fair" despite all this. After years spent growing out my hair to this length. Now, the owner has the audacity to be contesting the refund money she sent to me on PayPal saying she made no such transaction. So while I was willing to not give you horrible people a bad review despite you screwing me over entirely, that certainly isn't the case anymore and I will be reviewing you everywhere and telling everyone I know in Seattle about my experience. Pics below, three pics of my hair after it was done, three of the example photos I showed her for the color I wanted. This salon is a joke, stay far away.

Curly hair cut and wash/style by Tisha! 3 Note: taken quite a few hours of traveling post cut.

I have curly coily hair, 3b 3c. I had a ridiculously long layover at SeaTac and not many trustworthy options where I live. After searching and getting no luck at any designated curly hair salons, I on a last limb reached out and Colleen on her day off worked with Tisha and I to get an appointment for me. I was overjoyed! Now, the cut. For anyone (especially curly girls) it's really difficult trusting someone with your hair, but I can say I felt right at peace as soon as I got in Tisha's chair. She blew me away. She is incredibly knowledgeable about curls and has her own technique that I have never experienced but grateful I did. She also shared so much of her wisdom on how to care my specific hair type and put an end to some misinformed curly hair care out there. It was just brilliant. Also the studio was beautiful, clean, peaceful, with plants, she played great music too. I could go on.. But all in all, I really recommend this salon and Tisha. I will make it a mission to travel back to get cut from her again. Many mahalos from Kaua'i! :* Attached pictures are from hours of traveling post cut so it still looks incredible but not in its full glory! Haha

They told me there was an appointment at 10am already scheduled. I come here at 10:45am, it's closed. And now it is 11am. No one there. Kind of not cool. Was looking forward to donating my hair. I didn't receive an email or phone cancelation either. I confirmed my appointment in the email as well. My advice, if you can't show up, call me or email me. Also, it's especially not cool when it's a hair donation for a kid. I understand life happens, but I drove 1 hr for this. The least you can do is inform me of a cancelation. Also, just to add, I was also getting charged for the cut too. So the stylist was suppose to get paid/tipped.

I had not known that otherwise I would have rejected the appointment. My hair lifts easily, and Haley noted that. Despite that, she used too strong a developer and damaged my hair beyond belief. Not only that. She missed half of my head with toner. She noticed. And didn't tell me. She let me leave the salon with half of my head not toned. It's very noticeable from the back. I didn't see it at the appointment because she didn't show me the back - and now I know why. That's the worst of it, but she also didn't rinse my hair properly, so I still had product dried up and crusty in my hair. And she barely used any product while she blew out my hair on the highest heat, burning my scalp a couple of times and damaging my hair even more. And it was still a bit wet by the time I left. I'm usually pretty relaxed, so I didn't complain until after I went home and noticed that my head wasn't properly toned (which is also not that hard to do, I've done it myself during covid lockdowns - so it really is incredible that she messed up this bad and didn't say anything, hoping I wouldn't notice). Nothing about my experience with Haley was positive. Her work was incredibly sloppy, negligent, and dishonest. Edited to add (in response to Howie, the owner): You know the issue isn't with the toner itself - I did not see that she didn't do the back otherwise I obviously wouldn't have been "pleased". Again, you know this. I have a photo attached. You see how bad it is. I don't know why you're trying to act like that quality of service is okay. I didn't realize Red Chair's standards were so low, and I regret that I gave you all a shot :/ Also, I have to spend the holidays looking like this. So thanks for that.

I also appreciate that she held off on cutting too much off on layers at first, then let me decide if I wanted to take more off later. She is a stylist that I truly trust. Also, I asked her SO many questions about curly hair, products, my hair type etc. and she was very helpful and had great recommendations. As far as this service, it is so worth it and feels luxurious. Especially if you are new to curly hair, don't know how to style it, or have never had a curly cut before (this was my first one). You start with cutting your hair (dry of course), then washing, treatment, wet styling, diffusing, and then additional cutting as needed once it's dry and styled and you can see how everything lays. It was so relaxing to sit under the bowl diffuser (they give you free beverages too), and she walks you through exactly how she's wet styling your hair as you go. She did a great job and I highly recommend!
