I have frizzy hair and I got a keratin smoothening treatment with Amani. ZERO DIFFERENCE TO MY HAIR. This cost me 400+ $ that just went down the drain! I was told to not wash my hair for 3 days and recommended some product which i followed diligently. I contacted her about this and after avoiding my messages FOREVER, she agreed to a redo. To be honest, I missed the redo appointment because of my health and my appointment was cancelled as a no show. While I don't hold it against her for not accommodating my no show, I don't think if I would ever go back or recommend a salon that cant get it right the first time! read more

Amani decided she wanted to go home early prior to completing my Keratin express. She called me an hour prior (I was unavailable) and said she just wanted to confirm because I did not confirm the text. She gave no indication I was in jeopardy of losing my appointment and I had made the appointment two weeks prior. I was headed out to Florida and needed this down and I am now stranded. On top of that she needs to stick to Keratin treatments. I went to her for a blowout and $55 later I ended up with something I could have done myself. I am new to Seattle and needed a new hair stylist. I have partial highlights to blend in my natural brown hair with the incoming gray hair. Amani did an amazing job matching the highlights I had and blended everything in perfectly! I loved it so much I just went back to get my eyebrows tinted for the first time. During Covid, I made the difficult decision to allow my dark brown colored hair to go grey. Amani was super supportive and helped me to make this very difficult decision. It took several weeks to make the transformation as gentle as possible, but I am very pleased with the result and super happy that I am no longer coloring my hair every three weeks! I still get to see Amani for my cuts and to add low lights on occasion, and I am immensely grateful that I have such a talented stylist on my side. On July 25, 2015, I purchased a voucher for hair services at Allure salon through an auction for $70, and the services included were a haircut and bayalage. During the initial consultation, I specifically requested an ombre/balayage coloring that was well blended with my natural color and with an ashy tone. The tone ended up a copper/orange color, sections of the highlighted/lifted hair were uneven from side to side and there was a blunt line between my natural color and highlight. I've attached photos under Allure's salon images(!) I ended up spending an additional $165.00 plus tax and tip to have my color corrected at a different salon. The stylist reinforced that the coloring services I received for your salon were poorly executed and performed using questionable technique. When I asked Amani to reconcile this difference, her response was curtly "Please refer to the salon policies page on our website." I could NOT believe it. She didn't care that I was an unhappy customer even after sending a detailed email of why I felt the way I did. I would not recommend this salon to anyone. Also, the a la carte service charges meant I paid for toner, ombre, and balayage as three separate costs, along with time spent ($172.28). I thought this was odd; I have since reviewed the service list on the Allure Salon website and see that nowhere on the service page is toner listed as a separate cost. Also, balayage and ombre are listed together, not as separate services as I was charged. I am naturally not an adversarial person nor am I one to critique other professionals, but I know the end result of my hair coloring was not what I requested based on the example hair images I provided. Also, I feel I might have been taken advantage of re: service pricing because I visited the salon with a voucher. Ultimately, I spent $300+ for a cut and color, while wasting several salon hours and being upset with the hair I didn't want. I hope others don't make the same mistake I did. Amani gave me the best haircut I've ever had! I'm super picky about my hair and cutting any length off. I had some split ends that she somehow took off without making my hair look any shorter. I knew I was disappointed even in the salon, but the salon's fluorescent lighting washed everything out, and when I got home to better lighting, it was even worse and I was very unhappy. After going over some reviews I had done previously, one in particular stood out. My below review of Allure Salon. As noted, my review was not of the particular stylist, since I have no clue where I would be without her, but of the salon. Sometimes, a quick haste in reviews can tend to lead to an unflattering read afterwards. After I read my review, it could be looked at in two different ways. Let's clear some things up. When you first walk in the salon, you never know what type of music will be playing. It could be jazz, r&b, a comforting soul or a wake me up rump shaker. You are offered tea, coffee and wine (both red and white). The stylists (including who I now know is the owner) are very friendly and fashionable (I swear there are at least 5 or 6 pairs of shoes I want to take off of their feet and run). In my initial review, it may have come off that I felt they were uncomfortable with my beautiful skin color Needless to say, that is certainly not the case. When walking into any salon, small business store, or local cleaners. If they are not familiar with you, they will be curious. These ladies are beautiful and professional. Though I have not had my hair done by any of them personally, I have seen and heard their clients give wonderful feedback in regards to the services they have done. I have also seen them Also, one thing that I look at with any salon, fitness center or any place that I know that I will frequent quite a bit, I check out the bathroom. This bathroom is clean. I have never had a problem going in there and feeling like I had to immediately take a shower after using it. As we all know, women restrooms can be quite nasty. Not the case with this place. From the word go (which is now 5 years ago!), Amani has 100% earned my trust with my hair, and I highly recommend that you trust her with yours -- no matter what type, length, or condition. When I first came to her, my hair had turned from dark blonde straight hair to this weird sort of brown frizzy situation that I had never expected (thanks, mid-20s hormones!). It was crazy to walk into a salon and meet a stylist (who was highly recommended to me by a close friend) and have her immediately know more about my new hair type than I did! She knew all about these kinds of changes, different things I could do with my hair with varying degrees of maintenance, but really listened to what I wanted and how much time I wanted to put into it on a daily basis. Five years later, I can tell you that I've never walked out of there with a questionable hair cut, but rather that I've had fun trying lots of different things under Amani's expert care. Based on my experience with her, she has beyond mastered color, keratin, and obviously, women's / men's cuts. As one of my friends said, "If you want something edgy and asymmetrical, I'm sure she could do it, but it is clear to me that Amani does 'pretty girl hair.' You just walk out of there feeling gorgeous." It's not by accident that she knows what she's doing and is great at it -- she goes to trainings and stays current on what's new like no one I've seen. She picks up on trends before they've really even hit Seattle, and is ready to go whenever you are. I laugh, because by the time I was ready to try some new color and with bangs, she had already had some ideas in mind and showed me on her iPad with her Pinterest board pulled up. To which I responded, "Um, Amani, that's pretty much where I came up with my idea of where I wanted to go with my hair today!" Loved the treatment and salon experience! This salon is located in a beautiful location alongside the lake with a view. Sitting on their couch and reading a magazine can be considered as an additional perk on a sunny day - super relaxing! Parking is my usual stress when I head to a place in the city - it was a relief to find this strip has plenty of parking space, and hey, its free on weekends! Now to the treatment: I got a Coppola Keratin Smoothing Treatment (the one with '3 day no wash after' requirement). I have had other Keratin treatments done in the past, this is by far the best. Got excellent results. I have very fine, thin hair, which gets super frizzy giving me a shock-treatment look with little work-out sweat or humidity or after a hair wash. A high maintenance one which requires heat from flat iron or blow dryer almost everyday. I was hoping to find a treatment that reduces the use of flat iron, and gives my hair a decent texture. Serrana did a great job of the treatment. It gave me more than I asked for in a treatment. She used the product on my hair and gave it a 20min wait (during which I enjoyed the view). After which she flat ironed the product into my hair for better bonding. It was a very quick process and took less than an 90min to finish. My hair looked great when I walked out of there - looked like a straightening job well done. However not washing my hair for 3 days was a pain and I loathed it then, although in retrospect I am glad I had that treatment done. After the first wash, my hair looked lovely - it was smooth and shiny and fell in place right after the wash with a little blow dry. I have not used flat iron on my hair in the last 2 weeks (since I had the treatment done). No frizz what so ever! Best test was doing a work out - usually my hair gets embarrassingly shabby with waves and frizz returning right after a 10min work out. Glad after this treatment, my hair does not look unkempt after workout. I feel comfortable hanging out with friends right after a work out without going through a routine of wash/dry/flat-iron. Also, washing hair in gym where not many fancy hair grooming tools are available, my hair seems to fall back in place and looks pretty :) This is the best result I could have asked for. I love Amani! I went years without a salon and stumbled upon Allure because of the Amazon Local deal for keratin. I had passed the salon numerous times as its set right on the water on East Lake, but I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in. It's decorated in a modern, chic way with a black and white glamour palette. Amani is very passionate about what she does and is super easy to talk to. During my keratin treatment, I expressed that I had been trying to get my hair color to look just like hers for months. We scheduled me for a couple weeks later and I went on my way. The next day, I had a change of heart and decided to see if she could fit me in sooner as I was going on vacation that weekend. Two days later, my hair was transformed into a black/violet-burgundy ombré that I had been dreaming of for years. I still can't believe she was so generous to be able to fit me in on short notice! I just went in for my root touch up and I'm still super in love with my hair. She even had a cancellation and emailed me to fit me in a day earlier! She is as talented as they come: excellent and exciting color and cuts, fabulous understanding of a client's wants, needs and desires and she has a terrific personality - warm and welcoming which is equally reflected in the ambience at Allure. This isn't an overpriced, mediocre hair mill like some other places in Belltown... Allure is intimate, with only a few choice stylists and where the customers come first. I have CRAZY frizzy curly ethnic hair and no one has really ever been able to deal with it. "Black" salons usually fry my hair with harsh "relaxers" and "high end" salons have no idea what to do with my hair and usually mess the cut up - making my hair even more unmanageable. Let me just tell you that Amani at Allure Salon is AMAZING! She has completely tamed my hair with a keratin treatment. I have been going to him in Queen Anne for years and I am thrilled that he has moved to belltown. I was nervous that parking was going to be an issue...but it's not! Never had a problem finding street parking right in front. He listens to what I want and always offers great hair advice. I have shoulder length hair that can get dry and bushy. Beware of the Groupon! (Or any other discount for that matter) Inquiry into a discount may result in what unfortunately happened to my wife this last week. The Groupon it turns out, is for a stylist that's in training so if you go the Groupon route, you wont get a senior stylist to work on you. But you'll be told that your getting the full Allure professional service. But really you wont. What will happen is you'll be left with a trainee after hours. In my wife's case what was supposed to be a simple cut and die job turned into a 4 and half hour session with somebody that does not even have a chair at Allure and she is an apprentice being allowed to practice hair styling. In this case, on my wife. As you can imagine, things didn't turn out so good. My wife, who is a very attractive woman, brought pictures into show the stylist what she wanted which was a blonde pixie cut with swept bangs. What she wound up with was ORANGE HAIR and a PARTIALLY SHAVED HEAD. She was devastated. I was left in complete shock. It was the craziest thing either of us had ever seen. It seems Allure thinks it is good business practice to advertise their full services at a discount and then allow someone who is learning the trade to cut and dye hair. We certainly complained. This is the first response I got; "First I'm sorry to hear that your wife wasn't happy with her service. Tomarra is a junior stylist still in training, which is why she was consulting with me. This was definitely a drastic change from such a long hair style to a short pixie. This can be stressful for anyone, with such a big change. The point of Groupons or in salon discounts is for stylists to work with clients and hopefully meet their expectation." -Amani Anderson Amani went on to tell me, "How many senior stylist do you think run Groupons?..that's just common sense" indicating to me that there was no way my wife could see a senior stylist at Allure salon through Groupon. Silly me.... There was further correspondence between the owner and myself where Amani denys any wrong doing. Of course there is no disclosure anywhere on Groupon saying that you are not geting proffesional Allure services. They just say that your getting full price services at a discount. Amani Anderson (Owner?) showed zero concern about running the 'bait and switch' on my wife. And yes, we asked for a full refund. Amani, who lacks professional courtesy, refused to refund us our money. She actually told me I had "no class" for even asking.The only thing she was willing to do was bring my wife back in and "assess" what could be done if anything to fix my wifes partially shaven, orange head. As you can imagine my wife said there was no way in hell she was setting foot back in Allure. read more

I love this place. And I generally loathe getting my hair done, so that's really saying something. Honestly, even though we pretend that getting your hair done is crazy luxurious pampering, it's usually not. It's more like being ashamed of your roots (hair pun!! 5 points) while trying not to laugh and/or cry looking at yourself in mirror, covered in tin foil and sweating under a piece of black plastic that could double as a pool cover. And then you spend 20 minutes getting a blow dry that causes your hair to expand like the universe in a static nimbus around your head, cough up a few hundred dollars for the experience and come back in 6 weeks, all to ensure that your boyfriend doesn't find out what "natural blonde" really is: a myth perpetuated by women everywhere. Also, our eyebrows don't grow in the middle. We're just genetically perfect beings, accept it and move on. To the point--if high-end salons are the disease, Allure (and Amani, my favorite stylist) is the cure. This place is fun, funky and laid-back. They serve wine and play fun music and treat you like a human being...enough said. And Amani runs great specials on keratin treatments (in fact, I found her via Groupon), without which my hair could only be described as Jewish (the rest of me can still be described that way). Amani is a great listener, and willing to work with you to create the perfect head of highlights. The way she layers in different shades takes 10 years off of my face, for serious. I mostly get trims from her, but she always adds a level of interest to the cuts, and in the months I've been seeing her I've never left with a feeling other than awe at her expertise. She strikes me as a lifelong learner in her field, and she has some mad business savvy, so I know Allure will continue to flourish as a salon. But even if she beat me with a stick I would keep going back for the pretty results :) It's probably my favorite place ever to get my hair done. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! DO NOT BUY GROUPON's from them! The only thing awesome about this salon is a stylist named: Merritt, who is 1. So easy to talk to 2. Honest 3. Does amazing color! Story: I bought a groupon to have an appointment for color. It was 50$ for 20 foils Deal right? I bought it, then called and called and called the salon. Nobody answered (I thought hey they must be a busy salon, that means they must be good). Then I went to their website and booked an appointment online. I booked an appointment with Niki for 3pm. There was a message after the booking that said: we will contact you through email or phone to confirm the appointment. 1:30 rolls by, and no call no email. So I call and call and call...and still no answer. But now I have a 50$ groupon. So I decide to show up about 45min early for the 3pm appointment. When I get there NOBODY is there (except Merriitt God Bless You). The salon is pretty, and it seemed well put together. EXCEPT NOBODY WAS THERE. They were all probably getting their "hair did" or sitting with their thumbs up their A$$. So Allure Salon will never get my business EVER, and niether will my friends, family or anyone thinking of coming to your salon. I hope that their business goes down the tubes....because they certainly are not taking care of customers during this economic climate. BUT GO SEE MERRITT!!!!!!!!!!! Unless you want terrible color a worse blow dry while spending over three hours in the chair, DO NoT go to this salon. I went for the first time and immediately had no confidence in my stylist. Sure enough after applying color, my hair starting turning pink. I kept telling her about my hair tinting pink and she assured me, it was just color of treatment. Left me in chair for almost hour while she chatted in back with co workers. I showed her that my hair was tinted pink and she completely dis regarded my comments, rushed through my blow dry, and gave me a sub par haircut. Decor is very 80s with chipped paint on walls and dirty floors. Repeated calls to owner went un returned and there was zero effort to make my experience right. Will never go back read more

Got a keratin treatment. The woman who did my treatment was really friendly and did a great job. I've been reading that all keratin treatments are toxic (not just Brazilian Blowouts), so will not return for this treatment. I would if it was safe, though. Casey Naffz is a miracle worker! I had a big mop of one length hair past my shoulders and it was time for a change. I was a color-virgin, but I was bored and asked Casey what she could do for me. Casey grabbed some of her hair magazines, and flipped to some styles and some colors that she thought would work for me, what a wonderful consultation! While i changed into a smock she mixed color and got me some coffee. I was nervous about coloring my hair, but not after Casey took her time and explained the process of adding some highlights and some rad copper tones that brought out my natural strawberry blonde. One great perk; while I was processing she gave me a great little hand and arm massage! For my cut, she gave me an edgy layered look that totally took out all of the heavy parts of my hair. I LOVE IT! And there was no reason for me to ever be nervous of coloring my hair for the first time, when I look in the mirror I see a brightened happy color, with just a great punch of pizazz. It does look amazingly nautral, my husband needed my highlights pointed out to him...that's how natural my hair looks! Of course all my girlfriends noticed right way though! You will be satisfied! You have no CLUE how happy I was to find Tahara... The first time I had my hair done in Seattle, (at a salon I won't mention) I was left with a glorified mullet. Not pretty. NOT cute. I felt like it was a sign that I happened upon Allure Salon, as Allure magazine is one of my favorites... ANYWAY, my point, and I do have one: ~Tahara IS my Hairdressing Angel! She gets my "natural" blonde hair looking perfect, wether I was feeling like getting highlights, highlights low-lights or just all over blonde. She is also quite helpful when deciding to take a leap into a new fringe... She is encouraging but not forceful. She listens. Important right? The girl knows what she is doing. And your excitement when looking in the mirror at the final product is equally shared with her. I have since moved from Seattle, but you can guarantee I'll make the 4 hour trip back to see her. F*** salon allure .. Terrible customer service!! Horrible Keratin treatment ..!!!! The keratin treatment did nothing for me when they actually promised smooth manageable hair!! The stylist Serena did not help either.. She did not bother explaining anything before plunging into the treatment. When I called to say that the entire treatment fell off and that keratin did not suit my hair n asked for a possibly different treatment or store credit .. NOTHING! She kept insisting that I get the keratin treatment done again when I clearly mentioned that it did not work for me.. Would not even let me talk to the manager! Please save yourself the time and money of going into a salon where customers are treated like s*** How can salon allure do these treatments n hire such bad stylists.. I've been to Nikki twice now for the Coppola Keratin Treatment and can't recommend her enough. I've tried many other keratin treatments and hers is by far the best I have received. I rarely write reviews, but my experience at Allure Salon with Amani was so upsetting I feel the need to share. I scheduled a full balayage with a trim and ended up having to switch my appointment from a Wednesday to a Friday. Amani got me in no problem (her website showed availability so why would I believe this would be an issue?) I went in for my appointment, Amani asked what I wanted and I showed her pictures of bright blonde balayage and told her that "I know it might take a couple sessions to get me here, but this is the look I am going for" (I am currently blonde but not super bright). She stated no problem at all, let's get you bright and blonde! I've gotten many full balayage's in the past and it usually takes a couple hours of painting to get each layer of my hair. Amani painted about 10 sections of hair (took a total of 45 mins) and then let me sit there to process for about 30 minutes. I was already hesitant and kind of worried about what my hair would look like with such little color painted in, but I gave her the benefit of the doubt since she was the professional. As my hair is processing her friend/next appointment comes in and Amani starts doing her hair (not a problem at all) however, once she put me in the shampoo bowl and washed my hair real quick she threw some toner on my hair and did not say how long I was supposed to sit there for, she left to continue working on her friend and I sat in that bowl for over an hour with my neck against the sink, no offer for a magazine, or if I was comfortable or needed anything. I felt completely neglected for an hour while she laughed around and worked on her friend. When she was done with her friend she finally finished rinsing my hair and got me into the chair. She brushed my hair out and asked what I wanted for a trim, I said the absolute bare minimum. So she did that, which took about 10 seconds maybe. Once she started blow drying my hair, my worries about the lack of color in my hair were confirmed. There was literally no change to my hair whatsoever- if anything my hair looked darker from the toner. I expressed this to Amani and her response was "did you see how much product I used on you?" Uhmm no I am sorry..I am not a hair dresser I don't know how to differentiate between a lot and a little amount of product. All I know, is that 10 painted strands of hair is not a full balayage. I very respectfully emphasized how I did not see any difference in my hair and she did not offer to add any more color or anything. When I went to the counter to check out she said "I did not charge you for a haircut" (well thanks, you little took a dusting off that took 10 seconds). I gave her a 25% tip on top of the $200 balayage that I paid for. I did this to be nice, and in hopes that we could arrange a time for her to add a couple pieces so that I could notice a difference in my hair. This did not happen. I texted her that evening at 5 pm and asked if I could come in sometime when she has time to add a couple pieces near my face so that I could notice a difference in my hair. No response. The next morning, I texted her at 10:30am and said that I was disappointed in the lack of customer service. She immediately texted me back at this point and seemed very defensive. She said that I did not give her 24 hours to respond and that she was very professional and had great customer service....and she tried to make me feel bad by saying she squeezed me in to her very booked schedule last minute (remember, I checked her website for availability and it showed she had an empty schedule that is why I asked to switch appointments) long story short I ended up apologizing to her and asked AGAIN if we could figure out a time for me to come in and get a couple highlights near my face so I could notice what I paid for. She did not text me back until 2 days later....At this point I had scheduled an appointment with someone else. I told her this and she said "ok". Moral of the story...she didn't do a BAD job on my hair per se, but it was not what I paid for and the lack of customer service is what shocked and upset me the most.
