First time at WTC, and had a pretty good experience. Staff were all super friendly, and salon was very clean and inviting. Alicia was very gentle and the experience wasn't as painful or intimidating as I originally anticipated as it was my first time getting a Brazilian. The conversation definitely kept me distracted the whole time and Alicia did a great job at making me feel comfortable. Price was a little on the higher end for services, but nothing crazy. Only disappointing thing was there were still quite a few patches of hair I ended up having to wax off at home and my strip leaned a bit more to one side than the other LOL. My appointment was meant to be for an hour and it finished in roughly 30 minutes time, so they definitely had time to be a little more thorough. I went here for the first time and will definitely be returning. Alicia was great! She had a very gentle touch and kept me talking and laughing through the whole appointment. My brazilian turned out great, and I barely felt a thing. I also want to note that I'm a bigger gal, and these kinds of appointments can be awkward and intimidating for some of us. But the entire team is so friendly and genuinely warm--from the front desk employees to the cerologists--and there is always high-quality hot tea available in a variety of yummy flavors. Other pluses: well-stocked product options for post-wax and other beauty items, cute seasonal decor and sweet notes that they post in the shop to welcome back returning clients. Not only that, they offer different membership packages that will end up saving you lots of $$$ in the long run if you come often enough. But the best part (in my opinion) is their WAX. I went over here to get a brow was and was pleasantly surprised. I like how Waxing the City has options listed specifically for each gender. This let me know that I wouldn't feel awkward coming here and that they would know not to overdo my brows (the service is called Men's Masculine Brow Tailoring). The online booking is super easy and location is convenient. When I went in, the ambiance was pretty neutral which I appreciated. There is nothing more uncomfortable for a guy than going to a waxing bar or spa full of pink frilly decor and floral scents. The girls at the front desk were very friendly and I didn't not feel that they were pushy at all when informing me of the services. Morgan did my waxing and I thought she was very friendly and nice. She was easy to talk to and did a great job on my brows! I don't feel that she rushed at all and I appreciated that she told me to be straight up and honest with her. She said she would rather have me be happy with the outcome than anything else. Also, I appreciated that there weren't any girly or floral lotions that were used. Overall, I really enjoyed coming to this place. As a male, feeling comfortable at waxing places can be very hard. However, I felt 100% comfortable at this place and already rescheduled my next visit. So far very good! I recently moved to Seattle and needed to find a new wax place, so when I noticed this place close to my apartment that was specialized in waxing and offered a discount to first time clients I had to give it a try. Definitely worth trying. Service was great and quick (most important thing for me), and the fact that they offer a multiple session package really sealed the deal, so now I'm a customer at least for the next year. Totally worth it signing up for the package since I do this every month and this way I get a bit of a discount. Also, props for setting up the system at checkout to tip based off of the regular price instead of the discount, it's good that employees get a fair tip. read more

I moved from California and I have tried to find my new waxing spot. After yesterday , I think I found it. I love the fax they use for the Brazilian , it is not the paper wax but actual wax, which is what I was trying to find. I was hoping the same type of wax they use in the Brazilian that they use it on your legs, but that is not the case ... they use the paper on your legs, which was sad to discover because I'm trying to find a place that do not use the wax that needs the paper. However, for sure this will be my place to go because: A) even if I would like the same wax they use in the Brazilian to use it in the legs, I don't mind it B) the wax they use in the Brazilian is what I was looking for C) I needed to booked 2 appts in separate days, and they noticed this and called me and opened the place earlier for me D) The person who wax me was amazing, her name was Deborah read more

An update: Wow! The day after my leg/bikini wax, I have lots of red white heads between my thighs and bikini line. I don't get waxed very often (more for vacations or special occasions) but I have never had a reaction like this. Maybe I do better with sugaring or certain waxes? Didn't do anything since the treatment besides letting the area breathe during the day (long skirts yay!) and overnight, so this is weird. Going to use a compress and sanitize it myself. Definitely ask about what they use and if same day care is necessary. A warning about the 50% for new customers promo: if you get a combo service (such as legs and bikini) they itemize your bill and you're not technically getting 50% off. Service was OK. I left with a hairy spot on one knee and some dried wax still stuck to me. Still, very clean space and easy to get to. read more

The staff at Waxing the City (Ballard) is so nice and accommodating, I am sometimes a disorganized person and have had to reschedule appointments several times, they always were helpful and super nice about it. Elena is probably the nicest and most profesional cerologist in the world, she always made me feel super comfortable and safe and made sure I got my next appointment taken care of. The times she wasn't available, I was with Morgan, who was also great with me. They have different membership options that save you about 20% in their services, which is great, especially if you are a frequent costumer. I have been twice to Waxing in the City. Both times have been wonderful. My first visit was as a walk in, and I was greeted graciously, had a short wait and then was introduced to Sarah who was to do the waxing for me. She did such a fabulous job that I will be visiting her on a regular basis. I have been waxing on one part or another since my mom took me as a teen to tame my brows. I can honestly say this has been the least painful waxing experience I have ever had. I highly recommend this place and Sarah. With an upcoming warm weather holiday, I knew I needed to get in PRONTO to get waxed. Waxing the City is located within a 10 minute walk from my work in Ballard, and they just happened to have a last minute appointment that I could take during my lunch hour. Dakota was my esthetician, and she was fantastic. The type of waxing is sensitive for most ladies, and given that I already have extremely sensitive skin, waxing in general is not something I enjoy but is a necessary evil. Dakota was incredibly talented, taking her time but also getting a lot of hair without the waxing causing me too much discomfort. I actually commented to her how gentle the waxing was, because while it was uncomfortable, it was not painful like other waxing done (not at Waxing the City). I didn't even realize they offered 50% off your first visit if you a new client, which was a total bonus. They also have a membership plan which nets out to be nearly 50% off their waxing, which is a smoking deal (but you have to commit to a set number of waxing sessions and pay in installments).
