My scabs from Deb's waxing after healing for about a week.
    Jordyn D.

This place is cute and hip. That's pretty much Wax Bar has going for it. I'd come here a few times to get a brow tint, brow wax, and lip wax. The first time I came here, Deb did a pretty good job on my brows. However, the entire time it seemed like I was inconveniencing her. She was very uninterested, never said anything except "what do you want done?" and "I hope you come back. You should book with me again." With something as intimate as waxing, I feel like you should at least try to make your customer comfortable. I didn't feel this way at all. The next time that I came here, I got the same areas waxed/tinted. Somehow I was assigned to Deb again. She had the same attitude when I walked in. However, when she waxed my brows this time, I immediately felt a pain that didn't seem like normal waxing pain. It really stung and felt very hot. When she showed me my brows in the mirror, there were two big red spots underneath. When I asked her about it, she said that was normal inflammation and it would go down in an hour. By the time I got out to my car, I could tell something wasn't right. The red spots were bleeding and Deb had obviously ripped off my skin. I went home and it had only gotten worse. They still stung and continued to bleed. Over the next few days, they began to scab. I was really disappointed because I had a work event to go to (which is why I got my brows done) and I had to attend with large scabs under both of my eyebrows. I contacted the Wax Bar via Facebook (because no one answered when I called the Ballard location). I told them what happened, and a receptionist wrote me back and said that she was very sorry this had happened and that the owner would be in contact with me shortly to talk about what happened. I didn't want a discount or anything because I never wanted to go back there. But I did want to let the owner know so that this would never happened again. Two weeks went by and I didn't hear anything from the owner. I messaged the Wax Bar again (because again, no one answered when I called) and she said that they had tried to contact me but my voicemail box was full. I get it, that's my fault. I deleted voicemails to make space and then I called the owner's cell phone. I left two voicemails for her over the course of a week explaining that I wanted to chat with her about what had happened and she never gave me a call back. This was very frustrating and disappointing. Bottom line - Wax Bar provides subpar services and their management obviously doesn't care. I think that management needs to know that when a customer is spending upwards of $100 for 15 minutes of someone's time, is injured, reaches out to the company and the management still doesn't take responsibility, you are going to lose business. No matter how cute or hip your company tries to be.

I searched for someone who could tame my difficult eyebrows when I moved to Seattle four years ago - Deb is AMAZING; she does the best brow in Seattle by far.

I wish this would have been double checked prior to being used on me because even if it's probably fine only happening once and (hopefully) it wasn't in a high dosage.. but was unable to confirm this - it still caused me immense anxiety that I really wish was avoided. I washed it off and emailed my doctor. But I still feel awful and wish more precaution was taken. This was my first facial since becoming pregnant (almost 27 weeks now) and I was really looking forward to it and thought I'd be safe here. Unfortunately I didn't feel safe and I wish I never came now. They don't have pregnancy pillows to accommodate pregnant individuals either. I'd go elsewhere if you're expecting but otherwise they usually do a great job... pretty disappointed this happened to me though /:

Yes, back facials are a thing and she does a fantastic job! For facials, I highly recommend the advance glow and lift. It cleanses/smoothens out your skin, reduces inflammation, removes pimples/dead skin, and slims down your face (lymphatic drainage). I also recommend the back facial to clean and remove deadskin/pimples to maintain that healthy skincare routine.

The cheap affordable salons have really damaged my nails without providing any recommendations in how to maintain my nail health after gel manicures. Because of how thin and scratched up they are from the harsh filing/buffing/chemicals used at the cheaper salons, Lori brought back hydration to my nails and used a different technique to gentle file/buff my nails back to perfection. We avoided the gels/extensions and used special polish and treatments to help revive the nails to grow back healthier and stronger. She also recommended supplements to expedite the progress, so I'm thrilled to see the results in a few weeks. The spa is great, on the top floor in a quiet corner with tall windows. The decors and sound of water was so relaxing. Check-in staff was very friendly and offered tea/water. They're running a promotion right now: buy 3 manicures, get 1 free (def worth it IMO), so am looking forward to my next visit/check-up to get my nail health back to 100%.

Jordyn was very gentle with my hair, which I appreciated a lot. I see many low rated reviews regarding the 10% service fee, but I went in knowing about it because I read the need to know section of their website below: https://www.habitude.com/services/what-to-expect/ I didn't know what to expect about the quality of service from the crux intern haircut, but it was above my expectation. It was also nice to talk to Jordyn to get to know her and about the crux program. I wonder if the 10% service fee also goes to the crux program as well as other investments on the stylists here. Now, some concerns: I was initially scheduled for a haircut the previous week, but it got postponed because the stylist was out sick that day. Even though the front desk staff confirmed that she called me and left a voice message hours before the appointment, my phone received zero calls that day. I was able to rebook on the spot, but the receptionist booked me for two separate days by mistake. I realized that when I came home and checked my reservation status on my account. I was able to cancel the booking made by mistake early enough so that I could avoid the $50 no-show fee, but that was close. From such incidents, I presume staff here are not the best at managing appointments, so you should be ready to double check everything yourself. I'm docking a star for that.
