They do a good job and they are really friendly, but $124 + $20 tip for gel main/pedi is a lot when you're not even offered even a glass of water during your service. Sure, you're going to be ignored a little when it's busy and you don't know the staff well. The salon is newer and that's great and all, but the workmanship is terrible. Nail polish was not applied to the entire nail on all my toe nails in a uniform way. Two of my nails on my L foot were painted to just about 3/5ths of the nail width. One of my nails on my R foot were painted to just about 4/5ths of the nail width. On the big toe on my L foot, she left a 1mm edge on 2 of the 4 sides of the toe nail. She told me she was done and then disappeared and never came back to ask me if everything was satisfactory, to inspect her own work again, or to assist with putting on my sandals--all of which are fairly standard at all nail salons from low end to high end! What a terrible experience! If I wanted a bad paint job, I would have done it myself at home. read more

This salon is the absolute best nail salon I have ever visited. They are the only salon in this area that I have seen use clean tools EVERY time, all employees wash their hands regularly, and each station from mani to pedi is cleaned before and after each use. (Yes, I have visited almost every other salon local to this one on yelp.) Having auto-immune issues, cleanliness is paramount for me. Additionally, they are meticulous in their work. The previously mentioned auto-immune issues make my nails brittle. No problem for HOA! They have never tried to use a machine on my nails, instead, they buff in a much healthier way, by hand. This keeps my nails as strong as they can be and my shellac always lasts three weeks. This has NEVER happened at any other salon. My nails are now longer and stronger than ever, and I have this salon to thank. Each technician does a superb job, and they are happy to fix any issues. They even fixed my nail after I messed it up, more than 24 hours after my visit. The owners and front desk workers are so nice, they remember you and your preferences, and they know what is happening in their salon. Maybe don't go here if you're not white, you'll be ignored, eyes rolled at when you make a request and hurried in and out like you being there is inconvenient in some way... very weird. As another reviewer already mentioned, the workmanship is horrible. I left with my nails all being a different shade of pink because the gel polish was applied unevenly, I had gel all over my fingers all for about $10-$15 more than any other salon I've been to. I glanced at the nail tools as my tech was pushing back my cuticles and the other end of the instrument had yellow polish or something(?) on it which signaled to me that these tools had not been cleaned properly (since that yellow stuff did not come from me). SOOOOO GOOOOOD. Went here last week on my birthday to get my little piggies and digits rubbed, buffed, and polished. I was completely shocked when we stepped inside. The place was sophisticated, classy, and clean.. a serious step up from all the other nail places that line the streets of Seattle. A few things that made Hoa stand out in comparison to my previous nail shops: PRIVACY: I booked manis and pedis for me and three of my closest girlfriends and they brought us back into a private room so we could gab to our hearts delight and not worry about disturbing other clients. CUSTOMER SERVICE: The manager was incredibly attentive, checking in with us every 5-10 min to make sure we were okay and offer us bottled water. I also appreciate the fact that the nail technicians refrained from talking to each other the entire time. I feel like they really wanted us to relax and enjoy our services. QUALITY v. Went here for the first time today & will go back again!! Hubby got me a gift certificate for a mani-pedi here for my Valentines present. It was such a treat to be pampered & have my finger & toenails made glamorous! Sat down in their backroom area. Really feels like a spa & not just a nail salon. Quiet jazz playing. Offered tea or water & I had some green tea. The footbath looks like marble. The massage chair controls are beyond me so I just put it on AUTO. Both nail ladies did a great job. Even went over the cuticles a second time to make sure they left them spotless. My only complaint is it's hard to see all the colors they have available because they are in a sales display not your normal flat on the wall display so you can't see all of the colors without pulling out bottles in front of others in the back. Just had a pedicure that I was so looking forward to because it had been months. It was aggravating to sit there through such a lame experience. The callous removal lasted under a minute- which I needed the most- the massage lasted a couple minutes. For almost $40 it was a total rip off, done and out of there in 30 minutes. Would not go back. I love foot massages so I had to try it. Unfortunately I was disappointed. The massage felt like someone was just rubbing lotion on my feet. Barely any pressure and a majority of the time was spent on my calves and not my feet. I have been going to Hoa Salon since 2011 and they are by far the best nail salon in the Seattle area. The location is good and easy to get to. The actual interior of the salon is beautiful, comfortable and clean. I have never had any issues with cleanliness or sanitization here, they are professional and definitely know what they are doing. The staff are friendly and welcoming. They never fail to offer me water/tea upon arrival and always ask me about my life, and remember details about my work/school/family. As I'm sure they see a lot of customers every week, it's a plus for me that they remember so much about me. The owner is amazing. She has gotten me in on days when they are booked full if I am having a nail emergency, and has occasionally given me free services (I'm assuming because I have been a repeat client for so long). Absolutely amazing customer service, they really go above and beyond to make me feel special as a customer. As far as the actual services, I usually get a pedicure, acrylic fill (or full set) and an eyebrow wax. The pedicures are great, they do a good, long massage, and I always feel very relaxed. They always offer me a neck warmer, the pedicure chairs have massage settings and are really lovely, and they always check the temp of the water/hot towel. The paint job on my toenails has never been bad. As for the acrylics, I have always gotten a great job done on them. Currently, I believe they have a newer nail tech doing the acrylics, and I like mine done a very specific way, which she has been happy to accommodate. My nails end up looking beautiful every time and exactly how I want them to. If for some reason I have had an acrylic nail break, they will let me come in and have it fixed free of charge. I should mention I usually go 3 weeks in between fills and my acrylics still look very good after that amount of time. The eyebrow wax service is also good. They shape my eyebrows how I want without taking too much off, as has happened to me at other waxing places. As an esthetician myself, I am always concerned about sanitation and they do everything in a very clean and sanitary manner. I have been going here for 5-6 years and do not plan on going any where else as long as they are open and their service remains at the awesome level it is currently at. I have even gotten my boyfriend to start coming in for pedicures with me and he loves it here too. For $10 more than my usual place it's just a basic light scrub and minimal massage but down the street at Nice Nails you get a stone massage, scrub, regular massage, and paraffin wax treatment all for $35 and in an equally clean environment. I thought this place would be luxurious for the price but it's pretty basic and I already notice my feet aren't as soft as they usually are the day after a pedicure. For added on services like paraffin it's an additional $10. I'll stick to my usual spot. read more

Hoa Salon is a good place to get your nails done. The setting is relaxing and, most importantly, clean. They play nice jazz music (not the cheesy elevator music kind). They have neck warmers if you're feeling chilly, and jasmine or green tea are always on offer. Appointments are honored; I've never had to wait more than a few minutes upon arrival. With the exception of a couple of technicians, most are perfunctory and transactional. I think it's partly due to the language barrier. None of them speak English at even a base conversational level. The receptionists speak English well and I have found them friendly. So unless you speak Vietnamese, just know that this is not your chit chat and gossip with your nail tech kind of place. I get a shellac manicure every two weeks and a shellac pedicure every four weeks. The prices are reasonable (see their website). My shellac nails come out beautiful every time and they never chip in between visits. The salon has a punch card where every 10th manicure is free. I decided to try this place on Roosevelt on a day's notice in preparation for my sister's wedding. I've had manis/pedis maybe four or five times, so don't have a whole lot of experience with how an experience "should" be. Anyhow, the few times I have treated myself, the experience has been somewhat disappointing. Either I felt ripped off (it isn't hard to do an average job at home) or the atmosphere was uncomfortable. But that was before Hoa... I was running late because of a delay at a prior doctor appt. I called to notify Hoa staff and they were completely accommodating, not to mention sweet about how appreciative they were that I called. The atmosphere was not just comfortable, but actually almost upscale...no fake plastic flowers covered with dust, dirty mirrors or ladies seeming completely resentful toward me for being pampered. Everybody was attentive and courteous, plus I was completely satisfied with my final results. I'd give this place 4.5 stars, not 5 because the prices (while not bad) aren't a steal either and I could have gone for a bit more massage treatment. It is worth it for the ambience and service though...*when* I'm rich I'll come here all the time. :) read more

Hoa is my new favorite place for a pedicure. I work a couple of blocks away and often meet a friend here if I have a break in the middle of my day. Yes, I've yelped poetically about other nail salons in the past, and I meant it at the time, and still do, but here's the difference, when I leave Hoa, my toenails are Beautiful. I don't know what it is, but they're perfect. I always get compliments on them, which was weird at first, but now I'm totally used to it. Even men, normally oblivious men, stop what they're saying mid sentence and comment on how nice or pretty me toes look. I even got one "smokin hot" from a really cute young guy. The women are nice, the place is really clean, the leg massage is good, and not just a bored pinching rub-down. Michelle, the owner, is smart and organized and always makes you feel welcomed. I never make an appointment and she's always nice about getting us in and never makes us feel bad for just dropping in. This is how good it is. A few nights ago I posted a photo to facebook of my foot in a cast in the ER. More people commented on how great my toes looked (cute little hot pink toenails in a big black boot) than on anything else. Perfect pedicures! Amazing place. Really good prices. read more

I come here about once every two months for Brazilian Waxing. The price is affordable. And, it takes less than 30 mins to get the business done! 1) it's a nice location. However, parking isn't easy (if you don't want to walk too far). I normally park at QFC near by and walk over to the salon. 2) staff is very nice and polite. They greet you with smiles and you can even feel it on the phone when you make an appointment. 3) the salon is very clean from the lobby ,the waxing room, and to the bathroom. The reason why I didn't give 4 stars or more is because ever since I started my wax here, I started having a lot of in-grown hair. I've had wax done in the other salon and it was never a problem. Therefore, I thought it could be the wax they use. Sometimes, here and there, there was a couple hair missed and I had to take care of it myself. read more

A friend is visiting me from out of town and we wanted to kick off the vacation with some girl-time and get pedicures. I found Hoa on yelp and I have to say, we got the best pedicures either of us had ever had (and believe me, I've had a ton). They fit us in right away and took us to this private room in the back. The entire place was so clean and welcoming. The ladies were very thorough and really took their time. The one issue I normally have with spa pedicures is the super quick leg massage I get. That's the best part! Well this place put all others to shame. It seemed like they spent at least 10-15 minutes on each leg. Heaven. Afterwards, we decided we'd get some waxing done and again, they fit us right in and did a fabulous job on brows and lips. I've stopped going to Hoa. I can deal with the strange vibe and the fact that no one speaks English. I'm also pretty versed in the Vietnamese manicurist attitude - I don't take it personally at all. What I can't deal with is that my manicurist kept injuring me. I gave her a couple of chances, but enough is enough. I was bleeding and/or bruised during each appointment. I could not change to a new person as only one technician there does gels. I've spent a lot of time in the beauty industry - as a client and an esthetician. This nail salon is, I believe, clean enough. However, even without the injuries, I never enjoyed going there. Someone else said the technicians look like they'd rather be getting dental work done and that's a fairly accurate portrayal. I received expensive services and I tip very well, but I never once felt welcome here, even with the punch card they gave me for frequent service. It's difficult to find decent nail salons in Seattle, but there are certainly better places than this. I now go to Rachael's Nail Parlour in Everett. She is expensive, but an absolute joy and extremely talented. She's worth every penny - my nails are extraordinary. read more

I've never had faux nails before but I'm fairly certain that your manicurist isn't supposed to cut you or draw blood. she did this THREE TIMES with the electric file. My feet were a wreck, so based on the reviews on Yelp I made an appointment. My pedicure was fantastic. My feet were as soft and smooth as a baby's bottom. I bought a new pair of sandals to show off my pretty toes! The atmosphere and decor of this place is high-end without the high-end price. The woman who runs the front desk is friendly and checks on you during the pedicure. She wants you to have a great experience. The place is ridiculously clean. I had high hopes for this place given the extremely positive reviews/ratings. We scheduled the back room at the Roosevelt location for a small baby shower and were rushed every second of the way. Immediately at 3pm, we were told we had to start right away due to another party coming in later - even though our guest of honor had not yet arrived. Our pedis took about 35 minutes and mine felt like a glorified color change with little attention paid to the cuticles/feet. While our nails dried, we tried to enjoy a little bubbly/snacks but were interrupted at 3:55pm and told we were only allowed to stay in the room for 5 more minutes and then had to leave. I get they were busy and had another party coming in. But I guess I wish they had told us there was a time limitation when we booked the room. Pedis and other spa treatments are meant to be luxurious and relaxing so when they pressure you with time constraints, you aren't left feeling very special or pampered. read more

I just enjoyed a lovely spa pedicure at Hoa on my day off. I love getting pedicures and typically there are things that bother me that Hoa has completely avoided. 1. Most places smell of cleaning disinfectant. Not relaxing. 2. some play really load bad music or even talk radio again not relaxing 3. Often the atmosphere doesn't feel as fancy as I want it to. Hoa has an amazing interior, feel very up class but is still super affordable.
