They always ask for a review but it's hard to give them a good one if some are great at threading but others are just a nightmare... this lady messed up my brows. It's hard to believe when that's your one job to do it well. My brows have always been hard to regrow and repair from mistakes. She couldn't thread my brows with a simple straight line. It's curved!! Even I'd be able to thread it straight.. this place is a love & hate relationship... some are my favorite but sucks when they're not there and you get an amateur. I went in for waxing services and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. The wax in the treatment room was not warm because the wax warmer was turned off, so the esthetician had to bring in a smaller container of wax from the front. During the service, I observed repeated double-dipping of the applicator stick, which is unsanitary and can increase the risk of spreading infections or disease between clients. The waxing room itself appeared dusty and unclean. Additionally, the curtain was left partially open during the appointment, showing a lack of regard for client privacy. Overall, the experience felt unprofessional, unhygienic, and uncomfortable. read more

I went in to get eyebrow, upper lip and chin done. The service was terrible. My eybrows after threading look droopy and wavy. They never seem to agree when they mess up and make you feel like its your fault somehow. They should definitely invest in finding people who know what they are doing. There is only one person here, Suzzanna who is good at threading. read more

First time in and will be my last time. Very very mediocre experience with the actual service (eyebrow threading) from the sister of the owner. She spent maybe 4 minutes in total on my eyebrows and while they looked fine after a cursory glance in the mirror, upon getting home I think it was a lackluster job...she didn't botch anything per se, but based on the relatively few brow hairs she removed, I'll be looking to find a new place in a week or so...typically after a good session I won't need to wack the weeds for 3-4 weeks... Most frustrating part was after my 4 minute service, she spent 6-8 minutes trying to get ahold of her sister because she didn't believe in the validity of my $2 off yelp checkin offer. After not being able to speak with the owner /sister she tried to talk me out of using it and dishonestly suggested it was only for lip threading even tho clear as day it says eyebrow OR lip threading. Nevertheless, I stood my ground and eventually got her to honor it--which reduced my wasted money from 16 bucks to 14 on the service. Spend a few bucks more and go to Uvillage or a more reputable establishment! read more

The quality of the eyebrow threading has really declined since I last went to this salon in Summer 2022. I also used to go pre-pandemic pretty regularly, but it looks like might be looking for a new threading place. I came around 1:41pm to get my brows done and there was one worker present. She let me know that she just got to eating her lunch and would need 5-10 minutes, which was okay. When she started on my eyebrows, it felt like she was taking a lot off. To be fair, I haven't gotten my eyebrows done since I traveled back home in February. However, I did just ask for a clean up and to follow the shape I already had. During my eyebrow appointment, she talked to be and asked how long ago I got my brows done, if I had membership and if I had been there before. She gave me a slight trim too which is normal when you get your brows done. When she was finished, I took a quick glance as I had somewhere to be. The eyebrows were $16 for a one time brow threading, without membership, which is really high. I pay $10-$12 back in LA, so I was already a bit discombobulated from that. When I walked out and got a closer look at my brows, I noticed that she took off the end of my left brow. Mind you, I have microbladed eyebrows, so it is super easy to just follow that shape to clean it up. My botched eyebrow is pretty noticeable as well and I got it done for a big event. I think instead of talking to me, I would have preferred that she paid closer attention to which parts of my eyebrows she was threading off. I'm pretty disappointed and won't be going back to this company/location again. read more

I kindly asked her (didn't catch her name) to please leave my eyebrows the same width as I just came in for a cleanup. I have always had thick eyebrows which is why I'm always hesitant of getting them done. She agreed to just do a clean up but without asking me took off about half of the hair I had on there and completely changed my eyebrow shape. I can't even recognize myself in the mirror. They say walk ins are welcome. Almost every time I go before 20-25 mins of closing time, they say they are closed and don't take any new customers. First time I went, they convinced me to prepay for 6 sessions through a membership and I did. But they are close early and I never got my threading done. Choose a time when the salon is not too busy. Shanti threading has been my go-to threading salon for the last 7 years. I have tried both Capitol Hill and University District locations. But, The quality of technicians has gone down significantly in the last few years. I had to continually try and visit on different days to figure out which day had a more experienced threading technician at the salon. The lady who did my brows few weeks back caused soo much pain that I got up and left the salon with only one brow done. I am frantically looking for new threading salon now. read more

DONT GO HERE. They are unhygienic!! I had facial threading for the first time, and while I was pleased with the results and found the technician, Bina, to be very nice, the next day I broke out in a horrible rash. I read online that this could have been bacterial folliculitis, and a friend asked if she'd washed my face, put a hot towel on my face, washed her hands before starting. She didn't do any of that. Although the prices are great, I will not return for any body waxing at this University location. I've given this location a few chances (because the prices were so great) but you pay for what you get. I felt very rushed through my Brazilian & leg wax appointment. There was a lot of hair still left (that was skipped while waxing), my legs were still prickly and not silky smooth. There was dried wax left on my legs & the Brazilian area. *Important note: I noticed with all of my appointments here, that the same stick was dipped back into the same pot of wax. This wax is used on other clients and the lack of sanitary measures was bothersome. For my legs, the wax was applied over the entire area of my leg, then waxed. This hurt SO bad because the wax was starting to dry. Not sure if this is the right technique because my hairs feel stubble as if I shaved and it's growing back prickly. Did I just pay $120 for a wax to still be hairy & prickly? Yup. I shouldn't have paid for the leg wax because my legs are stubbly!! A waste of money and $60 went down the drain for a "leg wax". ****Also to note, the Brazilian wax does not include the backside strip. Sujana informed me that the Brazilian wax only included the vaginal side, $10 additional for the backside. The backside strip should be standard with all Brazilian waxes, there shouldn't be hidden fees to pay more. The waxing room was covered in tin foil, not a nice look. There was staining all over the ceiling and the waxing room looked ran down and didn't look clean. My appointment was rushed because there were other customers waiting. I didn't feel like they cared about me as a customer. Please pay a little more to go to a nice waxing center where the wax will be done right (no hairs or messy wax left behind), you won't be rushed, and you'll have a much more enjoyable atmosphere. I sat there about 10 minutes waiting in silence. When she does tend to you she's nice. I got my eyebrows done and they looked good. She doesn't trim the long hair but only threads. I contacted her immediately,She asked me to send her a pic of what I wanted to look like. I sent her a pic. She was on point on what I wanted. She knows how to handle Asian skin, the end result was just perfect. She made sure I liked the end result. Loved the experience and would totally recommend her. I cannot sing Sujana's praises enough. This is probably the best eyebrow threading in Seattle area I can find. The times I need my eyebrow done, I've always went waxing. This was my first time trying out threading and I can never go back to waxing. I've always dreaded getting my eyebrow done because waxing already hurts and it stings, but threading is a game changer. I was in the Ave area at the time and decided to give this place a shot. This place takes walk-ins so that was nice. The lady was just ringing out her previous customer so I was able to be serviced right away luckily! The lady that did my eyebrow was very friendly and professional. She did a wonderful job cleaning up the mess of my eyebrows. She was extremely careful and precise on the threading which I really appreciate She would take little steps in the threading and often check up with me whether the eyebrow is okay. When we got to shaping my eyebrow, she clearly understood what I requested. I was overall really surprised at how quick the service was and so result/experience exceeded my expectations! I bought the membership card for six month which was $60, which is a $30 save compared to just purchasing the one time $15 rate knowing that the experience was nice and that I'll come back. Still loving this place but coming during COVID times my review has changed. Still a 4 due to the amazing job they do for the price and how friendly their staff is. Although, I never had to wash my hands or get my temp checked at the door. Services are still amazing! However, their COVID rules are a little confusing. It's my first time back since COVID, so I followed rules they stuck on their door: wait outside till a stylist calls you in; wash your hands when you enter; stylist will take your temperature . So I waited outside, but it looks like they're accepting people who just walks in and sits down. I wasn't asked to sanitize nor was my temperature taken, which was a little disappointing since it seems like the salon wasn't taking safety measures seriously. I got a 6-visit package for eyebrows, lip and chin threading and a couple Brazilian waxes. They are good with threading, some of the ladies, I prefer their skills more than others. For waxing, they tend to leave me sticky and they don't seem to wash there hands at all in between clients. I went and washed with antibacterial soap after each of my appointments but I don't plan on getting any more packages with the full service. The eyebrow threading is perfectly fine but lip and chin I will take that elsewhere. The prices are super affordable so I guess you do get what you pay for. On the other hand, the ladies are super nice and friendly and they do henna here too. I have five stars despite my complaints because it is affordable and the people are nice. If you wanna get your eyebrows/waxing done this is the place I recommend. I come here every week - let's say I'm blessed in that department. They have a wonderful three months unlimited sessions package which makes it super affordable to get my eyebrows, upper lip and chin done all the time. They also have another package which is 6 sessions anytime within three months. My husband prefers that one. I've been the the university, cap hill and Ballard location. I live on the ave and my usual salon is in Kent but I decided to try something more local for my brow needs. To start, the service was okay. She got the job done but was less than average, little hairs left around, she got me out quick but wayyyyyy overpriced. 15$ for a simple clean-up is ridiculous especially when my go-to salon (Aaina Beauty Salon 5STARS definitely recommend) charges ~12$ for lip and brow. Later when I didn't agree to the membership, teller's attitude completely changed and I was ushered out. In sum, save your $$$ and branch out to other salons. Additionally, now that I'm scrolling through other reviews I noticed the response from the this business that another yelper received and I just think it's completely unprofessional. 1) It's not even typed correctly, 2) it's completely snarky, 3) if they actually valued customers then they'd probably provide better customer service. I passed the sidewalk sign for Shanti on Saturday while I was on a walk in the U-Dist and I decided to stop in and see if they had an opening for eyebrow threading. I have always wanted to give threading a try to see if I prefer it over waxing. Sujana got me right in. Having only waxed my eyebrows until now it was shocking how painless threading was. The end result was much more precise looking too. I'm officially converted. I got myself a member card for $30 which makes each threading session less than $4.00. Sold! No more waxing for me. Sujana was very sweet and when I told her that I like to keep my eye brows full she listened and was careful to clean them up while maintaining my natural brown line. Very happy with the results. I read about this place on Yelp so I decided to give it a try. It's a small, simple place but very clean. The girl there was really nice and listened to my request to keep my brows full but shaped. My mom threads as well but geeze was this girl fast! I love it - I prefer threading any day over waxing. Quick and painless, she did my eyebrows and upper lip. Afterwards she rubbed some great smelling rosewater toner over my brows and even gave me some lotion. Great pricing as well! I got a 6 month membership for the price of $60.
