Wow! I am blown away from my very first time being here. (: I've been getting stiletto shaped acrylic nails for about 6 years now (on and off) from California, Portland, to Seattle. I've had a lot more bad experiences than good ones and when I found a lady I really liked up north, I went to her for 3 years. However due to COVID, she no longer works there and the anxiety of having to find a new person is extremely nerve wracking. I've gone to a few places and trust me girl, I cried a few times, I ripped them off a few times, I completely understand that I have a tall order asking for it to be extra sharp, narrow, and perfect. I get it. Not everyone wants to spend 2 hours trying to sharpen my claws. So I have a modeling photoshoot coming up (was in hiatus thanks to COVID) and now I'm back behind the camera and needed my nails done! I stayed up all night the last few nights scrolling through photos as well as reviews that date back to 2015 for all I care. I've read some scary stories of people getting cut and bleeding and whatnot. Now I came across Shadow Nails and have never seen so many stiletto shaped nails done so beautifully! I mean you really should take a look at their photos! I was so excited I didn't care if it was 4am, they had a inquiry form so I emailed them immediately asking how much and when I can book an appointment. Pricing is a big deal for me too because I've been charged $100 for crappy work and my go to lady only charged me $30. It's more about the service and how well they take care of you that I care about. When I walked in today, it was a Saturday afternoon, it was empty. There was a cute little dog that greeted me at the door and I'm like "... hello? Anyone there? Looks like the little dog was my nail tech for the day". I had the pleasure of meeting Chin who offered me water, tea, something to drink before getting started! So kind of you, he finished with my full set acrylic, looking extra sharp and am so happy with how it turned out! He constantly asked me to check the shape and style to make sure it was to my liking. I get anxiety asking people to fix something and rather would ignore it because usually they get mean after I say something but Chin just fixed it right away and my mind was at ease. I'm sorry this review is long but then again all my reviews are long! I'm so content with my service today that I'm happy to say I found my new go to spot and it's so close to home! I came here last Friday on 8/19/22. I got acrylics and they were done poorly. The nail tech did not glue the fake nail on my nail beds correctly so 4/10 nails are lifted therefore water and gunk got into it. I got an almond shape with gel nails. The shaping was just ok and the nail tech got gel on my cuticles. I do gel nails at home and I know the no. 1 rule is to not get gel nails on your cuticles because it will lift. The staff is friendly though but not enough for me to come back. Price is good but not for the quality. I didn't want to say anything when I was there because they were nice but I unfortunately will have to go elsewhere to get my nails done. read more

As a nail tech myself I always look for improper practice and my god was I blown away by how gentle and attentive everyone was here! Not to mention great conversation! I asked for something simple but a little different and they delivered! Whole time asking me if I like the shape and like how it looks through the whole process, clean implements we're used and they even gave me a back massage while I was waiting for my gel topcoat to cure . I never leave Yelp reviews.. I honestly will not enjoy writing this.. I was happy that they were able to have me come in the same day, thank you. The nail tech (I won't say names) glued my first pinky tip on so crooked I had to say something. We had to soak it and then cut/rip it off. From that moment forward, I knew I should have left, but didn't. After having my tips on and not loving them I was transferred to another nail tech. I was on high alert now! Also trying my best to be compassionate. My nails were so ugly from being stressed and biting them. They were doing me a favor. I specifically asked for them to not be thick. They are thick down to the cuticle. On a few of my nails the cuticle isn't even visible. I did the "ombre" which I had never done before so I kept asking questions. He was beyond frustrated with me and kind of snapped. I wanted to cry sitting in the salon and I'm not being dramatic. I had a tough day and was treating myself. My nails look like shit and now I have to wait a week, or so to have someone else fix them. He kind of snapped at me and told me he had been doing nails for 16 years. Well, he obviously with the intent made mine look awful. I started a new job this week and am embarrassed. Everyone sees people's hands. $68 later I will never go back. My nails always last and we make it a thing to come every two weeks. Far and away, my favorite nail salon in the area. In fact, I recommend this place to my friends and people looking for a good salon in the area, and I bring anyone I know here when they want a manicure or pedicure. I'm in here, on average, about 1-2 times every 2 weeks, for various services. I usually don't make an appointment (I try to come earlier), but I would recommend one if you don't have a flexible schedule, as they can get busy later in the afternoon. Both Vu and Chin have done amazing jobs on my nails - they are definitely who I would recommend over anyone else. From basic manicures to detailed SNS designs, these two have never disappointed me. They are both really friendly, down-to-earth, and funny, too. I have had manicures, SNS, pedicures, and even eyelash extensions and fills. But they can do so much more (facials, waxing, hair, etc.) Prices are so affordable and reasonable for the quality of service you get. You are always offered water or tea when you arrive. I always feel pampered and well taken care of no matter what I'm getting done that day. If you opt for eyelash extensions, give yourself a good hour. The whole process is very relaxing. I had no idea what to expect the first time I had it done, but I was put right at ease. The average cost is around $100. With most services, you get a little massage as well, which is so nice. Oh! I believe they use illegal MMA to build acrylics!! Please stay away! Update 1/27/2020 I have decided to update this review as I have receive messages and online public harassment from the owner. He has posted my information online and assign a story that I'm a complete irrelevant stranger who's trying to sabotage his business without proof. So here I am providing proof on why I believe they are using illegal MMA instead of EMA. I visited this on 1/14/20 to get a fill and fix 4 acrylic nails. I paid $49.56 (receipt attached) and got nails that were in bad shape. We even have conversations during the service. Despite the good conversations I had with the owner( or staff I'm not sure) I decided not to come back.. but I didn't want to leave a bad review. On 1/25/2020 I decided to remove my acrylic nails manually at home with 100% pure acetone. I filed my nail polish off, soaked the acrylics parts of all my nails for 30mins in 100% acetone yet they did not come off easily like the youtube videos I watched. I went on google search and realize this is what MMA do compare to EMA which come off easily and in harder form. Upset that I might have been in contact with toxic, illegal chemicals, I wrote my original review. Additionally, due to how difficult it was, I still have 1 acrylics from there attached on my finger so if they want to sue me, I'm not afraid. I have attached a photo how MMA look like when interact with 100% pure acetone. Not my photo because I didn't take photo but I have 1 nail left to remove and I'm intending to keep it if they want to pursue further actions. Nonetheless, I understood that the 1 comment I gave did not reflect my whole story so they could have misunderstood my intention. and I should have said "I think they use illegal MMA". Got a fill and shellac. My polish started chipping after I left. I called for a refund and they said no. I do not live close by so I can't go in. On the phone, they were very quick to say no to the refund and then said they don't know when I told them I don't live close by. The fill was fine but nails were misshapen. Should've read reviews first! In reply to the owner, I had asked for a refund for the gel charge, not the fill. And I posted more pictures since he accused me of "filing" the nail (not sure why I would file it??) Wow.....just wow! I had the best experience last night at Shadow nails!! I got a full set with shellac and a new design that the owner was really excited about (cat eye made with magnetic polish) and it turned out so good!! The owner, Chinh, was the one who did my nails and he did such a great job. It never hurt, he was efficient, and the whole process felt great!! He also gives a wicked neck massage while you're waiting with your nails under the light. The decor was nice, they give you a little water bottle, and they have a punch card system! Sorry, this place gets a two for me. Reason why it's not a 1 is because the person who did my nails was nice. I had tried to get my nails to look like the photo attached but all the person did was add clear acrylic and triangle holographic pieces in it. So when they added the clear top coat, IT WAS COMPLETELY CLEAR. So you saw my nail under it completely. It was not at all what I was looking for. The person also made me bleed while filing down my thumb. Not only that but it was $75. I was super hopeful, but it was just a no for me. I would have gotten passed the price and the cut if it was for a set that I was happy with, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. I couldn't wait to get home to put some nail polish over it. I was able to somewhat salvage it by putting a single coat of light pink over it to hide my exposed nails. A huge upgrade to an already expensive set. Reply: Hi Vu! The cut was not a big issue. The price would not have been an issue. The shape of my nails and the amount of triangles were were perfectly fine. I've never had acrylics before so I was unaware that the pink powder/mold would turn clear after putting on top coat. So for the entirety of the experience was fairly good. It was only up until the end where I was left with a completely clear acrylic that exposed my natural nail was the issue, when in the photos I sent, it is obvious that they were a shade of pink. The staff was kind, the timing of my appointment was prompt. For what I was hoping for versus what I got, just not for me. So i decided to try it out. we went together and i proceeded to get my nails fixed; i had acrylics and 3 broken nails. the first nail tech examined my nails then called over his other co worker. the other co worker said that since I had one nail that was cracked and a little shorter than my other in tack nails we would either have to take off all the nails and do a full set or make all my other nails shorter. This is my second time coming here and I got a fill done, plus a broken nail fix, with shellac polish. I believe I found my go-to nail spot! You are instantly greeted when you walk in, you have ALOT of options to chose from for the color/designs of your nails! And they give you complimentary tea or water. I had both nail techs that work there and they are both AMAZING! Tell them what you want and they will fulfill your needs! My nails lasted a really long time. I had a lifted nail because I work a lot with my hands for my job but even then, they are pretty sturdy and stayed on. There's a slight wait time if you do a walk in but for me, I bring my homework or something because it is worth the wait. Such a nice change to most nail salons that just talk about you in a language you don't understand. I did have to wait an hour past my appointment, but that is okay because they are so amazing that they are crazy busy. That, and they stayed passed closing to make sure I got my nails done. Ok I go last week to get nails done they said yes but rushed due to them about to close three days later my nails start lifting I was thinking to myself it's fine they will fix when I have time we'll finally found some extra time to speak with them, 1st they tell me I will have to pay to fix which I was not in agreement with due to it not being my fault, so I then asked them to simply acknowledge the mistake that was made and to make it right, next he is arguing with co worker about what I had simply asked which is that 6 of my nails be fixed I don't argue it's pointless but the fact that they did not come to a simple solution is mind blowing I would not recommend wasting time or money here when there are other establishments in area I have never dealt with such incompetent service and seriously tipped and everything oh well hope this helps someone else don't see this business lasting ‍. I haven't switches nail salons/nail techs in 10 years because I am so particular about how they are done. But, I needed to find a new salon because I moved to the neighborhood. I came in and Justin took off my current acrylics, gave me a new full set (french ombre) and decked them out with crystals. He took his time and paid attention to every detail. He used every technique that I could have asked for. Things like comparing nails to make sure they were the same length, turning my hands around and filing them so the ends were perfectly straight, triple checking the placement of the crystals before curing them with the UV light, etc. AND I was given a glass of champagne and got a massage at the end. The champagne and massage was something my last place didn't do. All in all, this was an amazing experience and I will be going back regularly! I highly recommend this place. read more

I am not very good at pampering myself in this kind of luxury way because I have really short nails in general. Summer is coming! I walked in, picked my color, and they already got the spa going. Within 5 mins, I was in the massage chair and soaked my feet in the spa. Excellent service, the manicurists are clearly experienced and skilled. They understand what you want immediately and they are very kind and professional. I love my nails!! They are perfectly shaped and the same size. The color is beautiful and the design is okay. I took one star off because I am not loving how inconsistent the design was. I asked for a few diamonds on my fingers and he seemed like he was in a rush. The diamonds are different sizes and they aren't consistent in number. While he rubbed my hands with oil he accidentally ripped 2 diamonds off and hoped I didn't notice haha. He used the glue for acrylic to reapply the diamond. And he also did not look pleased whenever I tried to alter the design. However, another manicurist then helped me reapply a diamond (not with glue) and he was super helpful, patient, and understanding. They were both nice though. It has been three days and four diamonds have fallen off and two top coats have peeled off but it is not a big deal. But overall the nails look great and it is unnoticeable from far away. I've been to shadow nails twice and had two very different experiences. A few weeks ago I came in for a pedicure. The experience was wonderful! My toes looked great and the prices were unbeatable. I was particularly impressed with the selection of colors and how friendly the staff was... I thought I had found my go-to nail salon. Today I went in for a shellac manicure and am very disappointed. Simply put, my nails look sloppy. I selected a khaki color, and I almost think the nail tech (one of the owners) couldn't see the polish clearly. My cuticles look messy. The polish application looks like something I could have done at home... Not completely awful, but certainly not salon quality. Unfortunatly, I will need to find a different nail salon. read more
