Booked a mani/pedi and the owner had double booked somebody else so only provided a pedicure. This place is a disappointment

This place is incredible! I've been coming here for years. The staff is so skilled, the pedicures are super-relaxing and I get the double benefit of having a massage from their awesome chairs. I feel so relaxed when I leave and there is always enough parking in the lot (free parking!) . It's a perfect place to meet your friends (there are 7 chairs) and you can get a coffee at Van Gogh, a cocktail at the Wedgwood Broiler, and/or go to the Wedgwood Hair Studio before or after. Spend the day in Wedgwood and feel amazing afterwards. read more

I was charged $45 for an acrylic fill yesterday, and not only was the acrylic done horribly, the gel polish was out on too thick. It literally just peeled off the next morning, like 14 hours after it was done. I told Jo that I didn't think it looked right, and I was told "I've been doing nails a long time, I know my nails. It's fine. You come back if any of them break, and I will fix." That's not a business model. You should do it right, the first time. This is not acceptable, I want my money back. I am not paying $50 for work that I would have been told to do again in beauty school. Never again. read more

I've had a few passable experiences here in the past, but the service has gone down and down. I went there for the last time a week or two ago and had the worst manicure I've ever had. The whole thing last 17 minutes, and she barely fixed my cuticles, left gaps, bubbling, and got shellac on my skin. I will not be coming back. read more

Pros: friendly staff, clean facility, close to my home Cons: - long wait (I didn't have an appointment but they said they could take me "in a few minutes" - I waited 15 mins, then once they sat me down in a pedicure chair, I waited another 10 minutes with my feet immersed in water - at least it was a nice temperature). They clearly need more staff. - rushed job. The actual pedicure was shorter than the wait time. The trimming, cleaning, filing of my toenails was so rushed that there was still leftover polish on my nails, and my cuticles were literally brushed over. My heels are still dry and I'll need to file them down at home. Massage was nice but so very short. * If you come, I suggest making an appointment, and setting your expectations for a quick, unremarkable visit. read more

I was looking to get my nails done and they had availability when I called. I was still picking my colors and the lady wanted me to sit already because there's people coming in 15mins. The other lady doing my pedi cut my nails without asking me if I wanted it cut. Mani and pedi was done in 20mins. Very very disappointing. read more

Not satisfied at all with the result of my gel manicure and pedicure. Paid $80. The lady didn't even know how to remove my old gel pedicure.

Horrible experience. Not once but twice, first was a toe infection and then today stabbed again. Not even an apology from the owner who was the blame for both. read more

I had a great experience here! For $40, I got a great mani/pedi. The color selection is overwhelmingly large. The massage chairs are so comfy. Everything seemed really clean. I went in for a pedicure. I live in the neighborhood, so called ahead, but got in almost right away. When I got there, a family of three women had shown up wanting pedis also. There were four chairs, so we all fit, and the ladies did a great job of keeping us all taken care of. I just got a normal pedicure, which is $27, and seemed slightly on the expensive side for me. My chair was not a massage chair, although their advertising says massage chair, so maybe I just didn't get lucky, or maybe you have to get a fancier service to rate the massage chair? As I got my pedi, different clients came and went and the ladies seemed to know and like a lot of them, and vice versa. The ladies working there were super nice and if I keep going there, my rating might improve. As it stands, this is not my favorite nail salon but it is the one closest to my home, and it is definitely acceptable, so I am sure I will go back for convenience's sake. read more

This was my first time to this nail salon in the Wedgewood neighborhood and I was quite pleased with the manicure that I recieved. I normally go to Blooming Nails in my hometown of Bothell, but this week I was desperate to get a 'fix' so while I waited for my girl to finish her dance lessons close by, I decided to drop by this salon. I was greeted warmly by both the employees there. The woman who worked on my hands was very attentive to detail and although she was mostly quiet, she was very polite and initiated some discussion. I chose a color that was pretty light and required at least three coats. She expertly worked on on my cuticles and the surface of my nails and was generous with the oils, lotions and nail polish (I've been to a few places that seems to skimp/save on the products they use) and I loved that as she went over my nails, she was making sure that the surfaces and edges were clean and smooth before applying the color. I had a basic manicure but the hand massage and hot towel were a nice touch that I've come to expect even with the simplest of services from most salons these day. The color selection was good although I prefer to be able to choose from a more diverse color range (in my opinion, they had a 'standard/safe' selection of colors). If I lived in the neighborhood, I would probably make this salon a regular place to go. I'm just glad I have found an option to go to if I should be in the area. Overall the appearance of the salon was clean and organized. When the weather gets warmer, I am thinking I'd love to try a pedicure here. This salon is just a little more expensive than the one I normally go to for manicures but I'm OK with that so long as I'm happy with results. I will definately be back for a second try. read more

The staff is so kind and inviting! Every time I come in my with mom the women ask about us and how we are doing and our puppies. The place is extremely clean and they staff is efficient and does a nice job. It makes me very sad when I come in and ask how the staff is doing during the pandemic. I called ahead to schedule pedicures for a friend and myself. We were able to get in at our desired time that same morning. The women who helped us were friendly, gentle, and fairly quick. They had an excellent selection of pink, red, and orange colors. If you dream of a crazy green shade you might want to bring your own polish, as there were limited quirkly colors available. The chairs are a little old, but for $27 I was very happy with my entire experience. Parking is very easy. I will definitely return. read more

One worst nails I ever got done. Jo took my tips off with drill and didnt even buff off all acrylic and did no shaping, or even smoothing nail. Then thru clean over top. Im at another getting fixed right. I'be been going to Kawaii Nails for at least 13 years and love the owner Jo. Going there is like a neighborhood event - you always end up talking to other folks and usually run into someone you know. Are you going to get the best manicure/pedicure of your life? Maybe not, but it's more than that. I love this place.The ladies are so warm and pleasant. The place is clean and peaceful and just a wonderful neighborhood nails spa. Joy (the lady who seems to be the main person running the spa) is always so welcoming and helps give me realistic time slots for appointments. They are reasonably priced too! It was disappointing... it looks clean but the materials were not disinfected. The girl was nice but seemed to rush through the whole thing. I had to ask her to go back and fix mistakes. I really, really wanted to give this place a good review, but I was really, really disappointed. On the facade, this place is great: location, products (mostly OPI nail colors), very friendly staff and extremely clean. We were off to a great start. The salon hours showed they were open until 6pm on a Saturday. I worked in the service industry, so I am very conscious NOT to be one of those "last-minute" people. It was 4:39, so I figured I was within an okay time for pedicure & full acrylic set....maybe I figured incorrectly? I don't know. I hadn't made an appointment, so maybe that's what started it all off wrong. She was very fast & efficient & sweet as could be. But, my nails were lifting the very next day and now, 6 days later, I have 3 nails left! Someone else might have guessed I did Lee Press-On nails, but I did end up with a $71+tip tab. It's not the money I paid that upsets me because I really am okay with paying extra to get a better than average product. But, to pay more & not even get average? Now that's disappointing. It's kinda like paying for Citizens & ending up with a pair of Bugle Boys. Sorry to be the 1st review & a bad one...my toes are pretty & I really hope that someone else has a wonderful experience to offset my bad one. Awful! Got to our appointment and waited for 20 minutes until they came from the back. She ate her lunch while doing my nails and ripped off my nail while getting a fill twice! She charged me for her mistake. Getting my fill took over an hour which is ridiculous. Then had the nerve to charge $39. Two of my nails came off after 4 days. I WILL NEVER GO HERE AGAIN. I came in mainly because this salon is close to my house, and because I'd bitten off ALL my nails during midterms and wanted a set of acrylics until my real ones grew back. I asked the girl working on me to make the acrylic very thin, because I don't like the thick fake look of most artificial nails. I've had acrylics done at about 10 different salons and this was BY FAR the best job I've ever had. The girl (I think her name was June) was very attentive to detail - she wasn't robotic like some nail techs can be, just swiping a few times with the file and moving on. Instead you could tell she was focusing on each nail, looking from different angles to make sure it was perfect, coming back to touch up little things, etc.. It took a little longer than some sets I've had, but it was well worth it - I didn't even know it was possible for acrylics to look this natural. Definitely worth a visit! (Also they have a great selection of OPI and Essie colors, and a big parking lot out front.) read more

I use to like this place but it has gone down hill in terms of quality of service. The pedicures are basic and they don't last long. I scheduled a pedicure for my pregnant sister and myself for the same time. They were not only late but didn't have us go at the same time. It was rushed and a real disappointment. I love Spa Envy because I've always had a stellar experience. I live two blocks away and will never go back to Kawaii because they just don't care about the customer anymore. read more

I always try to make an appointment because they are very busy ladies, but even on the occasions where I haven't made one, they have always taken care of me as quickly as possible. Went in for a fill, nail repair, and a full facial wax. The repair broke after one day. My face has still not recovered from the lousy wax job. My face is red, peeling, rough, and looks nasty. I can't wear make up!! I will never go back to them, and would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

This has to be the best salon I have found since moving from Chicago. The staff are very friendly and attentive to all your needs. With the mani, there is a huge variety of OPI colors. They also have Shellac. My mani was done meticulously!! It was superb! They also give you a mini neck massage during the process. I'd pay to have my nails done just for that alone!I I also had a pedi with the same results. The staff know how to massage the feet! Waxing is also available. I would make an appointment since they are busy, especially on Fri and Sat. They do try to accommodate walk-ins. The location is terrific with a private parking lot. The owner, Chris, is the nicest and ensures clients have a great experience. read more

This place was great. I had some issues with shoddy polish applications at Peony Nails a few blocks away, so I decided to give this place a try. Got an express manicure. Did a walk-in at 10 AM, they told me I had a 20 minute wait (fair, I did just walk in), so I went next door to the coffee shop to wait. Walked back over, they sat me right down, got a great manicure with hand AND SHOULDER massage (brief, but hey!) and great polish application with OPI colors. Nice clean place. I will definitely go back, especially at that price-point. Be warned, they don't process credit cards for services under $20, so bring cash or expect to leave a $7 dollar tip (which I gladly did, but may just bring cash in the future). read more

I have been to Kawaii twice for pedicures; once with a paraffin treatment, and once for an express pedicure. Both times I was AMAZED at how long my French tips lasted on my toes. The paint stayed on so long that I ended up cutting the white off because my nails needed trimming. With one touch up to a chip on my big toe, I easily had the pedicures for four to five weeks each. I am a huge Habitude fan, but decided to check out this salon for my daughter's first "mommy and me" pedicure on Mother's Day because it's a bit cheaper and much closer to home. I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and how nice the salon looked. My daughter loved picking out the colors for us from the HUGE assortment of quality polish. The people were very sweet and friendly and took care to give my daughter 3-4 pillows behind her back so she could get her feet in the water and still be comfy. They also did the fanciest little flowers on her big toes...she was so excited! We had a great time, so I am booking another appointment for the two of us prior to our summer vacation this month. When I need a great manicure in Seattle, I never go anywhere else! Kawaii nails has top quality polish, including the good brand of Shellac. It helps to make an appointment in advance, but I have dropped in several times and they are usually able to accommodate me right then and there (occasionally with a small wait, but that was my fault for not making a reservation, right?!) They also cheerfully accept credit or debit cards. The service I have gotten at Kawaii has always been friendly and professional, and all their tools are meticulously sanitized before use. You also always get treated to a little neck & shoulder massage during the standard manicure - a nice treat! Personally, I believe this salon offers the best quality manicure or pedicure for your money. I recommend them to anybody! read more
