My appointment was at 11 and they started exactly at that time, plus they had the lady I requested to do my nails. I've been to others where you can request someone, but for whatever reason that person would be unavailable and they'd have you see someone else. It was very relaxing and they had music playing, but it wasn't loud or overbearing. The tech did exactly what I wanted her to do and she did a good job. Hands down the best salon in Seattle. Kim's been doing my nails for more than a decade, back when she was the owner of Savvy Nails, and I'm always disappointed anytime I venture to a new salon out of convenience or time constraint. Her quality of manicure is just unparalleled. I live in Lynnwood now but still drive down cause she's well worth the travel. Also you really can't beat the prices at the quality of service she provides. Personally I've got a hang up about techs using a drill on my natural nails or to remove shellac, I ask for soak off only and am usually met with a bit of an attitude because it's more time consuming for the tech, but it is the right way and the healthy way, and the only way Kim and her techs do it. And after 15 years of being spoiled by her services, I can't slum it anywhere else. If you consistently go to Kim I promise your nails will be the healthiest you've ever seen them regardless of if you do gel or dip. read more

I visited Kim Studio Nails for a full acrylic set with a simple design. I have been getting my nails done for years and am familiar with the process. The nails were done inconsistently; all the lengths were different, and when I pointed out that one of the tips were put on crookedly, my artist told me that it will get fixed once she puts on the powder (picture attached, the tip was put on bending my real nail off my finger). She packed on the powder and my left hand was so thick that it looked like there were 4 nail tips glued on top of each other. I also pointed out that she made a nail way shorter than the other hand, and then she proceeded to sand down the longer one even though I told her that was the length I wanted. She ignored my comments to fix/re-do some of the nails. She did do a great job with the design, but the actual acrylic set looked horrible. Her process was also very wrong, for example, sanding the nail after the design was painted on. It seemed like she was rushing to get me out, usually a set takes 3 hours and it took her a little over an hour. The set was $80 and I left upset. I ended up calling Kim and asking if she personally could fix the nails that were bad. I returned a few hours later and she did do a much better job, but I sat there for another 1.5 hours because she was hopping back and forth between multiple patrons. I won't be returning, there are a bunch of other salons near by this one that are much better. read more

I always get nervous when trying new nail salons since I'm used to getting designs that aren't like the inspo pictures or nails that look incredibly thick but this salon truly blew me away. I have been going the last 5+ months for dip and they always look great and last a long time. I normally go for a new set every 1.5 months or so. Only one set has ever chipped and cracked. This is my favorite nail salon in Seattle, especially for gel x nails. Kim and her staff are very friendly, and the space is clean and relaxing. The staff are really welcoming and make great conversation. Parking can be tough, so normally I park on some side streets nearby and walk over. I have been coming here for a few months, to get gel x nails and fills, and I love it. It's $40 for gel x fills, and I forget the price of a new set. I've been enough times now that the staff know my name which feels great. They are a newer business too. The salon has lots of availability for scheduling appointments or doing walk ins on weekdays. I am so unhappy with my manicure. I came here because of all the glowing reviews from Google and Yelp. My manicure literally lasted ONE DAY. Either it's the crappy chrome powder or they over cured my nails. I noticed my polish cracking on my index finger the very next day. It hasn't even been a full week and I already have 5 cracked polished nails... I got my nails done on 12/31. You can see my receipt from 1/3. Positives -The price is pretty good for a Seattle nail shop. -You can book online. -I got a pedicure and they spent a good amount of time on the lotion and hot stone massages! -Nail techs were friendly. Negatives -I booked an appointment a week in advance but still had to wait 15 minutes for my service to start. Normally I'm fine with a wait, but I was on a tight schedule and had to leave before my nails could air dry, so they used the setting spray. -The pedicure itself wasn't stellar in quality. The polish at the tips of the nails is not very good and is already chipping off after two days. There is also still some rough skin/cuticles that it seems they missed. -Parking is in the street, with many areas having a 2 hour limit. There are so many nail salons in Seattle, so I probably wouldn't recommend them unless they're conveniently located for you. read more

Gel manicure coming off after a week is normal for this place. I was not working during the period and had a minimal use for both hands. My nails are in good health. Usually gels last minimum 4 weeks anywhere else Ive been to with normal work schedule so I'm a bit confused. 3/10 was coming off by day 6, now its 6/10 on day 10. Manicure was rushed last hour of the day and cuticle cleaning was poorly done that first three days after the manicure all my skins on nail beds were peeling as well. I stopped by Kim Studio Nails because I heard from a friend that they saw a new nail salon open in University District with a 25% off promo. I scheduled an appointment in advance for Sunday at opening and was seated promptly upon arrival. I decided to do a gel pedicure and a gel-x manicure with chrome. They had so many gel colors to choose from, there was a whole basket full of swatches! The nail polishes were organized very neatly by numbers on the shelves. For the gel pedicure, it included a sugar exfoliant massage, lotion application and hot stones at the end. The lady who did my pedicure did an amazing job. She consulted with me prior to trimming my nails and was very precise with the cuticles and painting. She buffed and filed my nails before and after paining my toes and they turned out so good! Unfortunately, I don't know her name :( As for the manicure, the owner, Kim, helped me out. I got to learn more about her and found out she owned a local nail salon for 12 years and sold it 2 years ago. She recently decided to get back into the nail business and she said she just opened last week. She mentioned that business has been really slow and that hopes to rebuild her clientele in Seattle. Kim's expertise was prominent in my manicure. She did a very clean job with putting on and fitting the gel-x tips, as well as painting my nails and cleaning up my cuticles. She really took her time to make sure everything was nice and even in terms of nail length. I appreciated how she was also honest and said that she learned how to do gel-x one year ago. As a result, she told me that if my gel-x lasts less than 2-3 weeks to give her a call and she would fix it complimentary! :) The gel pedicure was $50 and the Gel-X was $55 with gel polish and $10 extra for design (chrome). The design prices vary -- I would consult Kim upon arrival for exact estimates! With the 25% discount, my total came out to $86 which is an amazing deal! I was there for about an hour and a half as both Kim and her coworker worked on me simultaneously. Kim mentioned that they're extending the deal to May 21st due to late opening, but I would ask just in case if you're looking to go soon! Overall, I would highly recommend Kim Studio Nails and I will definitely be back in the future! Since they've been slow with opening, they only have two workers currently. This being said, although they do accept walk-ins, I would recommend calling to secure a spot in case their business starts gaining traction (I hope it does for Kim!). read more

Has been my regular place for about 5 months. Easy to get an appointment and pretty easy to park. Yesterday I left disappointed and I won't be back. Had an appointment. Walked in a few minutes early to pick out a color. I am a regular . However , All the techs were busy with clients . No one bothered to look up, say hello, or acknowledge me in any way. I don't like feeling unwelcome when I'm bringing you my business. Would it kill you to say hello? Had to ask twice if I could sit down. Forget anyone bringing me the color basket. Even though I had an appointment, I got bounced between 3 techs who took turns on me between other customers. So I felt like I was" worked" in amongst other clients . I would expect that as a walk in . Not when I've scheduled an appointment. The final straw was my gel removal. Soaked the nails as usual but then proceeded to remove it all off with a nail file. It was excruciating. I have thin nails and told the tech how uncomfortable it was. She proceeded to do so and of course shit talked me to the others. I wanted a slight trim but she hacked them so short that adding my color choice would have made my nails look super stubby . There was no point anymore. Got up and left and didn't finish the job. I would have needed extensions in order for them to look decent . I knew if I asked for them I would have gotten an attitude. Not going to return. The cute little shop has four seats, so when we arrived in the morning, it felt like a private event! The nail technicians were very professional, friendly, and good. I requested a gel x fill and the nail tech today decided to put acrylic over the gel x already on my nails. Then towards the end of the process I noticed a hair in my nails the tech then drilled out the hair leaving a noticeable area on my thumb nail and didn't fix it just applied more base coat over the spot. At the end they tried to charge me $77 dollars again after I paid $66 for my nails. This was my first time coming in and definitely will be my last time. read more

My friend and I stopped by for pedicures. We both got the premium pedicure service. It was our first time at this salon and we were both very pleased. The salon was clean, well-lit, didn't smell too strongly of chemicals, and not too loud. The relaxed atmosphere was what really made this salon stand out from others I've visited around the city. I really appreciate that they have liners in the foot baths and use individual containers to transfer the product to your feet. This is her brand new nail salon and it's beautiful, clean, welcoming and relaxing. Kim is an expert and goes above and beyond to make sure every manicure is exactly what I ask for. She's soft spoken, kind and always makes me feel like a VIP. Recently I've had health changes and my nails kept breaking. Kim was so understanding and applied tips to my short broken nails....the tips lasted 3 weeks and helped my natural nails grow and get stronger. At no point did I feel like they were rushing to get us out of the salon. They were both so efficient. I am not always the best at letting my needs be known and normally leave a salon disappointed at the quality. At this salon I didn't have to say anything and they came out perfect :) In my experience getting a manicure and pedicure can sometimes be painful but this was a painless experience.
