I seen they had high reviews so I came here, first off they had three different people going back and forth picking up each other's work. Second off my nails are so ugly & definitely overpriced. I've been getting my nails done since 15(I'm 23 now) & I have never, not once, had such an awful experience. I recommend that absolutely no one goes here. Their nail techs have zero idea how to do nails. The shaping was extremely off. The guy didn't even hardly have a clue how to do two simple lines for the decoration. Their not even remotely close to the same shape I wanted(I showed him a picture 1000 times) not to mention I got semi- short nails and the price was OVER $100! WHAAT? I'd rather have them removed and my money back! I sat in my car for a hour and a half and cried. They're thick, chunky, the paint is way too thick and over lapping each other, the shape isn't filed good at all. I will never come back, and better yet, I'm filing a report with the state, there's zero way these people should even be classified as a nail technician. read more

I came in recently to have my acrylics (from a different salon) removed + a manicure to repair the nails. Low price: $12 manicure + $5 to have my acrylics removed. The table I was seated at still had a dirty towel from the last client with that person's fingernails strewn about. This towel, along with the last client's fingernails, was left for the duration of my appointment. When my own nails were trimmed, only at that point did the manicurist shake everything onto the floor. Looking around the salon, I saw random items like used nail separators strewn about on the floor. The fish tank was green and looked as though it desperately needed to be cleaned. Shadow Nails seemed pretty understaffed. During my time at the salon, several customers walked in for appointments and it looked like some of the women waiting for pedicures were waiting...a long time for someone to attend them. One walk-in pair of girls waited on the couch for maybe 15-20 minutes then left after not being seated for a manicure. One staff member sat down to attend a pedicure but was then asked by the manager to do my manicure instead. She looked visibly frustrated / annoyed with him. My manicure was done well, I was happy with the results and color. The back massage however was really weird - she seemed distracted, rushed through it, it was not relaxing or soothing whatsoever. read more

My nails came out wonderfully. There were a few flaws that I pointed out and they were not fixed. Just attempted to cover it up. I got the shalack French tips. Black too with a silver line at the bottom. The flaws were the silver line were a little smudged and uneven. And a black hair was caught in the clear coat. I was basically told its not noticeable. Which its not. But I noticed. And then can't un notice. I will be back. I really liked it there. I went in not sure if I should get shalack or acrylic. She said I have wonderful nails and should ruin them with acrylics. I appreciated that should could have talked me into it just for more money. But she didn't. I will be back for sure. read more

I've been here a couple times, but yesterday's visit was top notch! My friend and I walked in, they were obviously pretty busy, but told us to sit down anyway and they'd be right with us. No biggie, just having some girl time after a long week. I decide to switch it up a bit and get a gel manicure instead of just the tips, so they start getting to work (it's been a long time and I'm a nail biter, so it's no easy task). I decided to hit up a nail salon in my neighborhood since I needed a stat mani-pedi before my vacation. Luckily, Shadow Nails was a walk away from my place and only charged $30 for a mani-pedi. Overall, I enjoyed the services here. The lady gave me a nice calf and shoulder massage that almost knocked me out. Aside from that, it was unfortunate that my mani started chipping two days after. I've never experienced that with the other nails salons I've tried so I was pretty disappointed. However, my pedi has lasted over a week so I'm not quite sure why my mani didn't last as long since I used the same polish. Came in for the first time and saw Justin. Such a great experience. The shop is very clean, the tools are clean, brand new files are used. They even use a plastic barrier in the pedi bowls which is a wonderful way to prevent the spread of fungus. I received a shellac mani and I feel spoiled. At the end, I received a wonderful hand and arm massage, a hot towel for my hands, and even a fantastic back massage to top it all off. My nails look amazing. I will totally come back. This was my first time going to Shadow Nails. I read several reviews before I went there to see who I should get my nails done by and ended up making an appointment with Justin. I made my appt later in the evening so when I got there, there was only one other person in there. Justin was very nice and kept a friendly conversation as he asked me about my nails and what I wanted. He explained to me that a fresh set would be the best option since I had a glitter ombre and would show through the fill in and not look as good. I took his advice and I'm so glad that I did. He was very gentle and gave me exact what I wanted. I am very particular about how my nails are done and am picky with my shape (coffin/narrow coffin) I was clear that I wanted a French ombré with a consistent nail thickness (previous nails where all over the place). He did just that! The salon isn't the fanciest but definitely would recommend Justin and will be going back! Plus, their prices were really fair. read more

I made an appointment and showed up ten minutes early to pick my nail color. I ended up waiting 20 minutes past my appointment time because they were overbooked. After finally getting seated for my shellac mani and French pedi, my uncomfortable, painful, and just overall unpleasant experience began. I had a guy doing my nails and a nice and thorough lady do my toes, which I really appreciated. My unpleasant experience began with how unsanitary the place was. It smelled like sweet sweat, the seat felt sticky, they reused all these utensils on me, and I couldn't wait to get home and wash off my body. It felt like they were rubbing in filth into my skin. I have a dog bite on my thumb and index finger that was still somewhat new, so I warned the guy to please be careful with those two fingers. He was rough from the start. I informed him I had shellac on my nails and he audibly sighed, and rushed to get this giant and rough filer. I have NEVER had my shellac manicure removed at a salon this way before, and I have had many shellac manicures in my life. He roughly filed off each fingernail to the point where it felt thin and sensitive. He clutched onto my fingers that we're injured and even with my wincing he just kept on. He clipped my cuticles so roughly and quickly that it hurt and was not even nicely done. I couldn't wait to go home and clip off the parts he missed. Then he started to polish my nails and would jam my hand into the light causing my nails to hit the back. On top of all of that, he got my color selection wrong, finished one finger and asked me if I liked it. I told him it looked different from what I chose and he told me I chose this one. I felt uncomfortable challenging him and just told him it was fine, because quite honestly, the color he ended up choosing wasn't a bad one. After he was finished, he began messaging lotion onto my hands and was SO rough with my injured fingers, which are obviously injured. You cannot miss these cuts. I winced and moved my hand back and he apologized but then proceeded to be just as rough as before. Don't even get my started on the hot towel. He rubbed the towel into my cuts completely forgetting about them yet again. Yes, readers, I understand how I probably should not have come here with my injured fingers, but I thought a warning to please be careful would be sufficient and that he wouldn't be squeezing and rubbing my cuts the way he did. After all this, my nails ended up looking pretty good, so I can't say it was all bad. I just had a rough week and really just wanted to relax with a mani pedi. The experience was ruined for me, but the outcome was fine. read more

Literally the worst experiences I have ever had with a nail tech. I called for a nail repair as my normal tech was on vacation. They kindly agreed to see me. I was warmly greeted when I arrived. The woman who was going to do my repair had on a lovely set of acrylics that I complimented. I wear my nails longer than average, she commented on this when putting on the new tips for the repair. As she started applying the acrylic I could tell she was not very experienced but let her continue, thinking she can correct when she files them. She filed and shaped and then told me, 'when you go to a different salon, we cannot give you the same shape'. (My nails are coffin shaped.) I then brought my index fingers and ring fingers together to compare the repair vs my existing nail. This woman laughed out loud at her own work. The nails were extremely different lengths and shapes. The shape she had given me would not have been acceptable to anyone. It was lop sided and lumpy, the nail was completely crooked. She told me she could start over but there was no way she would be able to give me the same shape due to the type of tip they use. She then says she DOES NOT DO LONG NAILS!!!! She also stated the nails she had on she did not get done at her salon, so I could not expect mine to look like that. I feel like she should have been honest about what she could do for me from the beginning. If you do not have the correct skill set or the correct tips, you should tell your client. Instead she tried to do a half ass job and literally laughed in my face when I was unhappy with the service. I now have three VERY soar fingers from the terrible remove job that followed. She didn't even finish removing the acrylic from the nails she failed to repair. I will not be going back to Shadow Nails and I would advise you use extreme caution before you do so. read more

I decided to check this place out because of the good reviews. I made an appointment a couple of days before for a shellac manicure and pedicure. I always arrive about 15 minutes early to appointments and when I did at this place, it was not open yet. There was another customer who was waiting for the doors to open like I was, and her appointment was scheduled before mine. At any rate, once they arrived at the shop, staff were scrambling to get ready and the final shellac job that was done on my hands and feet was sloppy. The staff person that painted the polish on did not paint it evenly, so in certain spots, the paint was patchy and the person did not clean up residual paint that was on around my cuticles. I went in for SNS full set, and came home 6weeks later with 6 of my nails lifting from the nail bed. Also being accused of going somewhere else in between appointments. The tips were too big for my nails causing the nail to lift. Only reason it was discovered was because I wanted to change the color at that time was told they had to completely take off my set to do so. I've never had to do this over the 5 years I've been doing SNS at other salons in the area. I originally came here due to the nail art that was posted and the beautifully sculpted nails. Mine looked like LEGO's because there was so much product in them. I opted out of design because they were so bulky, but gave the 2 more times to see if things got better over time. I have gone many places in my search for a good dipping powder manicure and this is by far the best. The shop seemed very busy, maybe short staffed? My friend and I had appointments for 6pm. Her normal gel manicure was started right away. My dipping powder with tips and a bit of "nail art" started about 30 min later. Lots of options for color. I showed the guy(I think his name was Justin?) A picture of what color/design I wanted and another picture of the length. He matched both perfectly!!!! Which was a first in my experience. He was fast and friendly. The price was good. A week later my nails are still great! I work with my hands in water all day so offten after a week the nails start to come off. I will be coming back for sure! I have found that when I get tips added the manicure comes out either super thick, or my nails are filed so thin that they rip once the polish is gone. Not here. New favorite salon! Super polite and helpful staff. They got me water, had lots of nail options, and were really kind. I tend to bite my nails so when I get my nails done, I tend to get judge mental comments. Not here! They were very polite to me and just wanted me to have the most positive nail experience possible. Bonus points for having the cutest dog around! My nail tech even changed order of operations so I could pet the puppy with my other hand. The techs are great about receiving feedback and doing what you ask for. Asked lots of questions to ensure I was happy! Anytime I was about to ask for something to be fixed or altered, the nail tech would do it before I could ask! They had a girl come in and ask for dip powder (not knowing what that was) and got so angry with how thick it came out (that's what dip powder does, girl). I got on here yesterday looking for a nail salon to try out. One of the reviews said the gave a small back massage with a manicure so I figured they meant that the salon had message chairs. No the girl actually gives you a hands on shoulder rub It was awesome. I got a manicure with a french tip, pedicure and a brow wax and the whole thing cost me only $43. When they were done with the pedicure she didnt make me get out of the nice message chair, she just did the manicure right there and did a great job! The candy bowl by the door doesn't hurt either :) The lighting is a little bright, but I feel like that is standard for this type of place. Pedicures are $20, and an eyebrow wax is something like $8 (that's quite a deal!) and I've always had great results. They take credit cards but prefer cash. read more

I've been going to Shadow Nails for almost 2 years. My regular manicurist is "Cathy," although that's clearly her anglicized name because she (and every other Nail Technician in this country) is Vietnamese. Before going to Shadow Nails I went to 3 other manicurists and wasn't completely satisfied for one reason or another. Cathy does a solid job, and the price is very reasonable. A hidden jewel in the salon is "Trini," who is the hairstylist. Her work is exceptional for both men and women. There are very, very few hairstylists who can style both men's and women's hair well, but Trini is one of those people. Trini is also the salon's esthetician, and she does full-body waxing, even for men. There aren't many Waxing Technicians here in Seattle who will do that. That having been said, the entire salon needs to undergo a thorough, deep cleaning, and the entire interior needs to be completely updated. read more
