I went here for a birthday brunch. It was very simple to make a reservation for my semi large party. When I arrived, we were seated on time. My brunch was at noon and the servers were available and ready. My problem was not service however they ran out of certain food items when there was hardly any other patrons in the restaurant and it was still pretty early in the day. My friend ordered a dish that was served to her cold. Then about 20 minutes before we leave, the lights were turned off for a "light check". Now I don't know what restaurant does a light check around 2p in the day and it lasted longer than 5 minutes. Very odd. Nonetheless the ambiance and restaurant was beautiful. It was hard to fine at first it is located in marquee shopping center next to Dave & Buster's. I was excited when I heard Spaghetti Warehouse was opening a new restaurant. I wasn't expecting the original menu because I read they were going in a new direction. So took my family out for my mother's birthday. First thing first the menu focused more on the artwork and the long list of cocktails they had. They had about 5 different pasta dishes. Very very small menu selection... We ordered the Short Rib Ragu Papparddelle, Spaghetti and Meatballs, Seared Scallops, Salmon and Australian Lamb Chops. Let's start off with the Short Rib Ragu the short rib didn't have the marbled rich flavor, it tasted more like a dry pot roast being called short rib and the sauce was lacking flavor. The Spaghetti and Meatballs was very disappointing the meatball was dry and lacked seasoning and the sauce tasted a lot like Chef Boyardee sauce to say the least it's also the same sauce they used for the Short Rib Pasta. The Seared Scallops were only 4 on a plate more like an appetizer and the Salmon don't even get me started!It was about the size of about 3oz!!! The Lamb Chops were a little dry and over cooked. This was definitely a disappointing experience over all. For the price that we paid for the meal there are definitely better restaurants around Houston that you could get a better meal. If you're looking for the nostalgia of the longtime downtown Houston treasure of the old Spaghetti Warehouse, this ain't it. I was thrilled to hear Spaghetti Warehouse would be returning to Houston after being devastated by Hurricane Harvey and was even open-minded about the possible new concept. But the pretentious and obnoxious concept they came up with reeks of upscale Dallas and has no heart and soul that the old one had. We arrived on a Friday night around 7, admittedly a typically busy time for any restaurant. But we saw there were few people around the hostess stand and the place was maybe 60% capacity with plenty of tables open. They asked if we had a reservation and we said no. We were just a party of four, but they said the wait time would be an hour to an hour and a half. As many open tables as there were, I figured that was just a scare tactic to turn away hungry customers. Boy, was I wrong. No less than an hour and 50 minutes later (yes, nearly two hours) we finally got a table. We were given four wine menus, including one for each a 6-year-old and a 3-year-old, and asked for a kids menu. They came back with a menu that had listed at the top $14.... FOURTEEN DOLLARS for a kid's meal. It included a choice of three appetizers (we picked the fried mozzarella, which was strangely just one huge chunk of cheese), one kid got a pepperoni pizza and the other got a spaghetti and meatballs which tasted practically identical to Spaghetti O's rather than the classic Spaghetti Warehouse spaghetti and meatballs. The dessert was an ice cream cookie sandwich straight out of the Dollar Store packaging. The adult entrees we ordered were the angel hair pasta ($21) and short rib ragu ($24). Neither were particularly good. Amazingly, they don't serve lasagna (!). Half of the food menu is dedicated to detailing the bizarre art on the walls rather than more menu offerings. There was no listed option to add meat to the pastas. There was a blonde female manager who was fantastic, but everything else fell far short of the high service expectations they lead you to believe you're getting when you walk in. The concept they're going for might make more sense in River Oaks or West U, but not in the family-oriented Marq-E Area. This was just an extremely disappointing and bizarro world experience and I sincerely hope this place changes for the better before it's too late. read more

After the Van Gogh art exhibit on Friday, we walked in to Waterhouse 72, we were seated immediately, our server was very attentive and the atmosphere was so nice. Mind the reviews and check the dates of the reviews. Each restaurant goes through early opening shocks so if there is a one star understand the growth and staffing issues some may experience. This is all about how I review restaurants. You can tell how the experience will be with your introduction to the staff. I only review restaurants where I can say something nice and I make a habit of only speaking highly whenever possible. My wife introduced me to Warehouse 72 after meeting some clients here for happy hour and then one day said you need to invite friends and go to their wine tasting event (this was 2 weeks ago). I had never been there so I was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful murals on the walls and the dark welcoming interior when i first arrived. It's in an "odd" location but I think it will serve them well because of its proximity to the Marq-E theater/IMAX and the The Improv. We went to the bar for a starter glass and the bartender was just super and very helpful as we described our palates to him. First off, Warehouse 72 is a concept they hope will spread and it's got a great start. Richard, one of the managing partners, has done a great job with his life experience to take note of the things he likes about top notch restaurants and how to bring that to the table of this new concept. He understands about being welcoming and gracious without it feeling phony. The wine tasting brought in twice the crowd he and the staff expected due to tickets being sold at the door even though this was a pre-sale event. Some people were bummed there weren't enough hors d'oerves but it was do to the late swell. The wines were fantastic and a great variety to chose from...you could buy any of the wines after the event if you wanted to. When that was over we grabbed a table for dinner with about 8 of us. I had their main chicken dish which was made with a crust from sesame seeds. It was cooked perfectly and served alongside a generous serving of brocollini. Our friends had various pasta dishes and they all raved, mind you several of them are Cajun and don't suffer bland dishes or crummy dishes. As I've stated before on several of my reviews, service is a 2-way street. If you give off an air of stuffiness, expect the same back. If you are open to new things and you are warm, not face down in your phone the whole time you are wanting to order or talk with a server... you are going to receive great service wherever you go. I was also very pleased by the friendly demeanor of Reggie the bartender. Food- it was ok. I was not impressed with the lampchops - they werent flavorful and they were really fatty and greasy. Warehouse 72 salad- AMAZING Mozzarella sticks- pretty good flavor and a nice portion Fries- GREAT Carrots- good but came out cold. Ambiance- eclectic, artsy, very open. We dined in the private room and it was very nice. I was not too happy with having to wait to be seated for a party of 2! I arrived first and was told I had to wait until the other guest arrived. One of the best experiences I have had in a while. I decided to pop in since I had been missing the spaghetti warehouse for two years now. The location is in the plaza off Silber and Katy freeway. Its near the Candytopia place that use to be Drink Houston. My point was there is plenty and parking and they also have valet available. I made reservations and was seated immediately. This place has such cute decor. My friend and I decided to get a few things off the menu to see if we would return. Everything is reasonably priced and the also had a music entertainment. The wait staff was very friendly and suggested some great food choices. I ordered the lamb chops, long island, chicken parmesan and a meat tray. Had to share it with my friend. The lamp chops were the best I had ever had. My only disappointment was the meat size was small. Overall it was a great vibe. I saw two families with small children and babies. It was surprising cause it is a nice date spot. I enjoyed how the manger came by to ask how we were and or opinion onnthe restaurant. She also mentioned within the next few months the planned to add I think a 3 or course meal to the menu permenantly. I plan to be back. This place was worth it. read more

We love this off-the-beaten path casual, warehouse looking restaurant that is hard to find. We have been going since they opened so we are glad to see the restaurant getting more crowded. They recently started offering a $55 fixed price, four course menu that gives you enough food for a second meal. To keep it exciting they change the four course menu every month. Pro-tip for anyone wanting to try everything on the menu during restaurant week...bring your friends or family and order for them! Came for brunch this morning. Arancini with the black truffle goodness, deviled eggs with sweet bacon jam, smoked salmon everything bagel deconstructed, all were wonderful. Chicken and waffles had this wonderful spicy cayenne butter which could be eaten with a spoon, and the chicken tenders were crispy and cooked perfectly, without having the overly drowned in oil scenario. I decided to give this place a second chance because the first visit was horrid. The second visit did not raise the bar at all. The only individuals who were actually attentive were the people providing the water refills. Everyone else struggled to make a conversation that lasted longer than 50 seconds. Although, the food did not miss at all. Everything was pretty good, but the outside environment such as the managers and waiters really brought the overall rating down. On top of that, they were stingy with the bread. For a party of 4 the first time, they gave 2 loaves. Today's visit of 6 people, they have 3, which we then asked for more bread resulting one more single loaf for an entire 1.5 hour lunch visit. For the price of the food, there should be more bread provided (at least one less than the number of guests and by request) and at least a starting side salad. I think I stand 50/50 about whether I'd recommend this place to others. read more

My husband and I decided to eat here before hitting the Van Gogh exhibit next door. We had a reservation on the patio and were seated promptly. It was not busy at all, in or out. The place is spacious, with modern décor and I felt like it had a good vibe. But overall our experience was mixed. The good: They had a chardonnay on tap which was not too expensive, and we both enjoyed it. We were eating low-carb so no bread. We started with the burrata caprese salad and it was outstanding. That cheese alone is a reason for me to go back, despite the disappointing rest of my meal. My husband ordered the chicken, I got the crusted tuna, which I ordered rare when the server asked. My husband enjoyed his roasted chicken and broccolini. The bad: When our app plates were cleared, we ordered a second round of wine. I happened to look at my watch at that moment, since we had somewhere to be, so I know it took 18 minutes for someone to refill our wine glasses. We were almost finished with our meal at that point--luckily the water guy was on his game. When our food arrived, on identical plates, my husband's had twice the amount mine did. I had about ten 1 inch segments of green bean, 3 tiny new potatoes (instead of the fondant potatoes I was expecting), no tomatoes, and I guess the limp green garnish thing might have been the fennel-micro green salad listed on the menu. It seriously looked like I'd gotten someone's half eaten leftovers. The tuna steak itself had broken into 2 halves, which didn't bother me, but it meant that everyone from the line cook to the expeditor to the food runner could all clearly see that steak was medium well, medium at best. NOWHERE near rare. Unfortunately, I was pretty hungry with limited time and our server didn't come by again until I'd eaten most of it, so I couldn't exactly complain. I didn't finish the steak (it honestly didn't taste that great) and thought for sure our server would finally notice how overcooked it was when he took the plate, but no such luck. In fact, 3 times someone came by to ask how everything was, and I shrugged my shoulders and said it was just ok, and all 3 times the person just smiled, said they were glad we were enjoying it, and walked away. It was like nobody actually cared. Bottom line, I may go back for happy hour because the bar looked pretty cool, but when I pay $29 for an entrée that comes out extremely overcooked and missing half the ingredients, it makes me question the staff's commitment. I'd rather give my money to places that gives a damn. read more
