Congrats Walgreens! You have completely nailed it as far as how to run the most inefficient pharmacy ever created. It doesn't matter if there are 2 people in line or 15, you will make sure that no customer is shortchanged on the most frustrating and maddening experience outside of the DMV. Kudos for keeping it consistent! Since I don't want to be completely negative, the pharmacist seemed like a nice lady but she was running around like a chicken with her head cut off most likely due to inefficient processes and subpar pharmacist technicians. read more

They don't allow service animals. I walked my little Maltese to our neighborhood Walgreens. As we got to the front I picked up my dog to walk in. I only took 3 steps in and the front desk clerk screamed at me from across the store "we don't allow service animal in here." Worst pharmacy ever. There is always a super long line, and prescriptions are never ready. Was told to wait, and came back hours later, prescription still not ready. The most incompetent pharmacy ever - only came here because CVS on Portola closed down. Will be switching to CVS on Barranca, even if it is much further away. How does this place even have 2 stars? It should have negative 5! This whole store (not just the pharmacy) is a total shit show. Pharmacy lines are outrageous. No matter what time of day you go. They need to have an express pickup line for people with no issues. My Rx has no copay and literally takes 30 seconds to complete my transaction. However, every time I go there I am stuck waiting behind "problem people" that take 30 mins to resolve. I've decided to switch to mail-order. I can not handle going into this store EVER AGAIN!! Additionally, don't ever do site to store. They have no clue WTF they are doing. If you order from Walgreens.com and don't want to pay for shipping, you can elect to have the package sent to the store for free and pick it up from there. Updated 10/21/11: I had a much better experience yesterday in this store. I went to pick up a photo order, and there was no one in the photo area and they seemed unusually busy at the checkstands. I waited my turn and told the woman I had a photo order to pick up. She came right over, helped me out, checked out the rest of my items as well and was VERY friendly and nice. Because of her, I will add one star :) ~~~~~ I picked up a photo order last week, and the girl at the photo counter was sitting on a stool reading a magazine. I walked up and stared at her until she decided to help me. It was an order that had a zero total, so I said am I good to go? She said no, it has to be rung up. So she said I had to go through the regular line, which had a line. So I got in line behind two people... one of which was in the middle of a serious mess with the cashier. After about 5 minutes the same girl came over to a register and helped the other person in front of me, and me. It took two seconds to scan my zero total and let me leave. Why couldnt she have done that at the photo counter? Because she was too lazy and too into her magazine, then realized she HAD to probably help out since the one lady was busy with whatever she was doing. No thanks! read more

This service is unconscionably slow and the staff has an attitude. I have a procedure scheduled in a couple of days and went to see if the drug I need to prep was ready. On the app there was a button to "submit"...so I did. . The system told me the order would be filled and be ready by 8pm. So....I left the medical center vs heading back in to the docs office for a paper rx. I got home to find it had been "cancelled". When we called Walgreens, they said the "system had cancelled it" because there was another rx number, that we'd have to call the doctor. I said they were closing and it was a holiday weekend and asked if they could call ;as pharmacists typically do. She asked why I believed that hey could get through any faster and recommend I do so myself, saying they were understaffed. I explained that we had already been trying for 30 mins on the patient line and that doctors offices always answer a provider line quicke. I also pointed out that they were closing in half an hour again- procedure schedule the Monday after a holiday weekend-urgent. She informed that they'd work on it but it would take a while. Circles and circles. When I asked why the order was cancelled she said she didn't know but that when she tried to access it, it crashed her system. I asked if they had a tech support to retrieve it and help her out. Nothing. It was clearly a system error but we left and missed heading back into our respective jobs we were needed at...and sat in rush hour-pre-holiday traffic back to the docs office, two mins before they closed because Walgreens "system" cancelled our order and Walgreens gave us zero confidence they'd make a solid attempt to fix it. Why was their system error OUR problem? Useless. Apathetic. Insensitive. And indicated that they needed a NEW order from the doc because after all, even though her "system was crashing" and there was clearly a tech error, she couldn't take my word that my doctor really wanted me to have it. Meanwhile, the paperwork was completed online already. People walking in without appointments were able to get in ahead of me. Please save your time and sanity and go elsewhere! Photo department sucks! Customer service sucks! Not apologetic about the delays at all. All excuses that their photo machine doesn't work, no supplies to print xmas cards and calling their technicians takes them hours... so for them it's not their fault and doesn't care if their customers will have Xmas cards or not. I can't believe how they run this store with that kind of attitude. Won't be coming back here. If I could give negative stars I would. This is the absolute worst pharmacy. I have been coming here for a while because it's a few blocks from where I live but will not be returning to purchase anything from the store and I will especially not use this pharmacy anymore. They have pretty much never had my prescription ready after my doctor had called it in. The wait time is almost always 20-30 minutes or longer and then 9 times out of 10 you will be told that you have to come back and wait in line again because your prescription isn't ready. Today I came in after my 5-year old daughter saw a doctor. She is very sick. I was again told my prescription wasn't ready after waiting for 20 minutes. I was told I would be signed up for text updates and would get a text confirming I was signed up and another when my order was ready. After an hour and a half I didn't receive a text so I went back and waited in line for 20 minutes to be told it still wasn't ready. Then later I got the confirmation email and another text saying my order was ready. I waited in line again for 25 minutes and the woman at the desk was courteous but it appeared she was filling my prescription. It took a while for her to bring my order over. I asked if I could speak to a manager and was told the pharmacy manager wasn't in but the store manager was. I was calm and just explained my situation and that my very sick daughter had to wait 5 hours to get some medicine that would make her feel better and I had to return and wait 3 times. I explained I understood there were labor shortages and I had overheard staff had called in sick today (however the number of staff behind the counter appeared to be the same as usual). Then a guy in a Walgreens polo named Flojo told me I was welcome to fill out an application. I have never treated any of the staff with disrespect in that store even though I feel extremely frustrated each time. I have never raised my voice. To have Flojo make such a flippant and disrespectful comment like that (when I wasn't even speaking to him) felt like a punch to the gut. Especially when I am dealing with a very sick child. Today I drove over to pick up 2 prescriptions, they lost one of the prescriptions, arguing they did not receive the second. I had both of the kids in the car crying. After 20 minutes of unfriendly and pathetic on time delivery service the pharmacist found it hidden in one of their drawers! Just saying "sorry" here it is. After talking to the manager they tried to make up with $10 of store credit? I will definitely raise this issue at a corporate level and make sure this gets resolved for the greater community of Portola area. Save yourself some time and go next door to Ralphs. 1/28/2018- came and picked up photos and the 9:37PM shift manager had terrible attitude: 1) they were charging me $7 for an online order that was originally $2 2) with an attitude she tells me the order name is wrong (i told her my last name and optional order pick up person could be my wife) 3) she gets irritated because she would argue the account is under my wife's name? This is now the second time this walgreens has failed to ship my prescription after I've submitted a delivery prescription order. Last time they were at least polite about it. This time the woman who answered the phone repeatedly cut me off mid-sentence while I was trying to explain the situation and then insinuated it was somehow my fault their system fucked up and didn't send her a shipping label for my script. I wouldn't even be writing this if she hadn't been so rude to me she literally made me cry on the phone. I tried to ask about reporting this issue to tech support because it's happened to me twice and she responded by trying to insinuate it was somehow user error even though both the mobile and web apps tell me my script is ready for delivery. At this point I'm probably going to ask to move my scripts to a different walgreens because this was an incredibly upsetting experience for me, especially considering I was polite and emphasized I wasn't mad at them, just frustrated at the fact that this had happened twice and I need those medications to come on time. read more

I visited this store this afternoon after placing an online order, and not receiving a confirmation email. I spoke with Nora who attempted to locate my code however that the system also glitched on their end and they could not access it either. The problem was that I used $10 Walgreens rewards in my purchase so I could not just re-purchase the item because the $10 had disappeared from my Walgreens account. Nora was very very helpful and tried to resolve the issue several different ways but eventually had to call the store manager to help with the issue. The store manager was absolutely awful. Not only did he provide 0 useful information, he did not try any alternative remedy for resolving the situation and kept telling Nora to pull up at the code that neither one of us had access to. She had to keep reiterating to him that we could not access the code. Eventually, he was like oh well too bad I guess you'll have to wait for Walgreens to cancel the order which could take an hour to 24 hours. The entire time the manager was speaking to her and I like we did something wrong, he has a very bad attitude and was speaking to Nora in a demeanor not suitable or respectful for the workplace. Eventually, the Walgreen system came back up and I was able to locate the QR code and get my item. Please promote Nora she was the only person in the situation with the forethought to try to even help me resolve the issue...the manager was absolutely useless and rude. To top of it he had a bad attitude and was talking to Nora disrespectfully the entire interaction. if I were her, I would not work there anymore...she deserves better. read more

PHARMACY WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! People standing in line prior to 6pm closing time had the pharmacy windows shut in their face! I was in retail and medical and even a mall...we shut the main door to the store at closing but made announcement 30 mins prior final call etc and serviced anyone in store prior to main door closing at closing time! Customers first thats customer service! Unbelievable! Poor people waiting patiently prior to closing standing in line they can't make pharmacy go faster they were waiting 15 mins prior and boy window shut in face! I will find elsewhere to get prescriptions filled!!! And I contacted walgrens directly via email as well. We will see if any changes r made. Worst pharmacy experience I've ever had. Terribly rude, sarcastic, and unprofessional people. I was told even though they see a refill I haven't picked up it's closed in their system so they would call the doctor as a curtesy. This is after a call hours before , waiting on hold 45 min being told it would be ready in 20 min and then in line 15 min to pick it up where I was dismissed and basically told to prove it. If you actually want to get your prescription filled don't bother using this pharmacy they are the absolute worst. They don't communicate with each other, they don't check the doctor line voicemail unless you specifically ask them to. I feel like traditional brick and mortar pharmacies like Walgreens will soon go by the wayside with increasing competition from super stores like Target and Walmart, online pharmacies ( still small business but on the rise ) and healthcare providers offering on site pharmacies ( think: Kaiser ). That said, the decline of Walgreens certainly isn't helped by the problems that plague this particular location. In fact, if all Walgreens are run by employees this slow and unpleasant, then Walgreen's demise will be as sure as the next one star review this store gets. Let me start at the beginning: I ordered a product from Walgreens.com and had the item shipped to this store, in order to avoid a shipping charge that cost almost the same as the item itself. On the day the item was delivered, it showed that the item was signed for around Noon. I called this particular Walgreens at 4:00 PM the same day. The kid who answered the phone briefly checked for my order then told me it wasn't there. I reiterated that the FedEx tracking showed the item was delivered and told him who signed for it. He then proceeded to put me on hold for around five minutes. After the hold, he got back on the phone saying that they aren't able to locate my package and asked if they could put me on another hold. I told him that I didn't have any time left, and would call back later. I called back to the same Walgreens at 6:30 PM the same day and spoke with another employee. After a similar hold time as the first call, she was able to confirm the package was there. I visited this store the next day around 7:00 PM to pick up the package and purchase some items my wife needed. This store is currently a bit of a disaster area. They have some kind of construction happening and a large chunk of the store is blocked off, making it necessary to check out at the Photo counter. After an extremely long wait in line, I approached the counter and let the cashier know that I needed to pick up an online order, and provided my name. She disappeared in the back for about ten minutes before returning to the counter saying " No, I'm sorry. I cannot find your photos. They must not be ready yet. " I reiterated to her that I wasn't there to pick up photos. I was there to get my online order. " Ohhhh online order! You should have said that. Hold on " and went back behind the photo display to look again. By this time, the line that formed behind me was truly horrifying. So much so that they decided to open up a register at cosmetics. Another Walgreens employee came over to the photo counter and told the cashier helping me to send customers over to cosmetics. Of course, she was so preoccupied looking for my order, that she did not do so. The same employee then got on the radio and demanded that the cashier helping me send customers to cosmetics, in an incredibly unfriendly fashion of which, my cashier also ignored. Finally tired of waiting, I pointed at the shelf behind the cashier. The shelf was labeled " Online orders by Last name " with sections that covered the alphabet. I pointed at the section labeled QRST and told her that my package was likely there. Low and behold, the missing package was found! I quickly paid for the items I was purchasing, grabbed my online order and left. For what its worth, I think I'll have the package shipped next time. I'll gladly pay the extra $5 if it saves me the nearly 30 minutes I was at this store. read more

Worlds slowest pharmacy! Somehow I always get stuck behind the guy who refills 20 years worth of prescriptions. I don't understand why this pharmacy has so much trouble filling scripts. You go to Target and it's done in 20 minutes. Even antibiotics take hours and hours to fill. Everyone working there looks like they haven't had a vacation in their entire life. They look miserable. Only pharmacist that's been kind and patient is KIM. Occasionally there's a male pharmacist and he seems nice. All the others...omg...find a new job!! You look misssssserable. It's like they are pissed they can't take any of the meds or something. The one girl working the drive-thru with the long nails....time to quit honey. Just looking at you causes depression. You are so rude!!! She has medium length somewhat curly hair. Resting B face, once you see her and hear her....you'll know. Run! If they could just fill the prescriptions and not analyze everything to the 100th degree maybe things would go quicker. Doctors call in scripts early not to have them filled but for your slow A** to make sure it's in stock and processed so it can be picked up the day it should be. Sadly, they don't process it until they realize it's days later and out of stock, leaving patients without their meds. It's 2019 people...do your jobs and stop trying to play doctor. They bother my doctor over and over and over. Just let the doctor make the decisions. Oh and don't bother calling them, you'll be on hold forever!!!! I'm not a one star person but I have to give one to this place. EVERY time I come in here I leave with a negative experience. I tried to add cash to PayPal. Which clearly on the PayPal site it does it. NO ONE CAN FIGURE IT OUT! Then they tell me "oh its not working." I told them "I did it once before!? Someone came and did it!" I'm sorry sir look it clearly doesn't work. SMH. Another time I go to drop of a SUPER HUGE rug at the Fed Ex drop off. It was heavy and took a lot of effort to get it there. "Sorry Sir it's too big it doesn't fit in the closet. At my other location we would normally take it but I guess here because it does not fit in the closet we can't take it." Seriously? Is it that big of a deal to leave it in the HUGE room you have for a more positive experience. FYI don't take large packages there. I know this review will have no ramifications for that establishment. It's more informative. On a positive note the employees are usually polite they just need to be trained. it's really a hit or miss with this place. You either get someone that's willing to help or someone that's ready to ruin your day. They won't refill my prescription that is DATED for today. Yet they say i picked my previous one late but it was billed in 4/14/20, and today is 5/17/20, i should technically be able to fill this on the 5/11/20 or 5/12/20 but they're just hassling me about it and saying i can't even PAY for my script. This is not the first time. I have records of all of it. I work, i go to school and it's finals week and on top of it ALL i can't have my prescription. i've been coming to this location for 4 years straight getting treated like shit. Kim the pharmacist is beyond terrible. She's been inputing false notes about me. I work in the medical field my self so it's given that i know a lot of people and some that are pharmacists as well. They're the ones that can validate the notes being inputted. You guys sure have something coming to you. Anyway, take your prescriptions elsewhere. Don't get me wrong half the staff is laid back and cool but there are select bad ones at this location and to you guys i gotta say, go find something you truly like to do because giving customers problems about medications that they've been on for years isn't something cool to do. Walgreens used to be a good pharmacy but no more. I had so many hiccups with them I'm changing pharmacy. The straw that broke the camel's back happened yesterday. They got my doctor's prescription in the morning, texted me that estimated time for pick up was around 1 pm. I patiently waited for them to let me know that it was ready for pick up. By 4 pm. I was getting nervous, this is a med I really really need as a last resort to a medical issue. When I went to their useless app, it showed that there's a delay and the pharmacist was reviewing the med. I tried to call them, was on the line twice for almost 30 minutes each time. By then it's almost 5 and my doctor's office would be closed. I called my doctor's office and they said they had been on hold with them too! Eventually we managed to get hold of Walgreens, they said it appeared I am allergic to some meds I've never heard of, and I've never taken this med before. Finally the pharmacist said they'll have the meds for me. I drove over, the drive thru was jammed, cars were parked the wrong way to get in line. I went inside. Sure enough, the pharmacist said pick up is only through the drive thru, I was getting desperate, I had to lie and said I don't drive, my neighbor dropped me off. The pharmacist reluctantly gave me the meds. This is after 6 p.m. They are terribly understaffed, I understand that. But they need to do a better job communicating with their customers. If I hadn't reached them, I would have to wait till Monday! And even then, there's no guarantee I could get through to them. Sorry, Walgreens, this is not the first time I'm disappointed with you, but my health is more important to me than loyalty. You have failed me and I'm never coming back. read more
