I was a very loyal customer of Tustin Pharmacy. I tried to use them after they sold, and ran into a few challenges with customer service. I finally decided to switch to a pharmacy that was closer to where I had moved, in North Orange County. That was about 8-months ago. The reason for the updated review is because in the last 2-months Tustin Pharmacy has run my prescription refills without me asking for refills. And since they are running them without my consent when I attempt to order refills at my new pharmacy they cannot process the refills because it looks like I have already picked up the prescriptions. Over the last 2-months I have had to call my insurance company and they have had to intervene by calling Tustin Pharmacy. What REALLY made me mad this month is that Tustin Pharmacy actually called me last week saying "calling to let you know your prescriptions are ready" and I specifically told them to please back them out, and remove my prescriptions from their system. And here I am a week later... they ran them without my consent and I am having to have my insurance company step-in again so I can pick up my medications. DON'T USE TUSTIN PHARMACY! read more

Stopped by here to get a prescription filled for only 4 pills of Amoxicillin. When they quoted me $18 on the phone, I thought I misheard but nope that's what they charge. As a retired pharmacist I am fortunate enough to be able to pay this obscene price gauging $18 while knowing that the wholesale cost for 4 pills of Amoxicillin is less than $1. I only filled my prescription here because I was in a hurry but anyone on a budget should take a few minutes to call Costco, Sam's club (you don't have to have a membership to use their pharmacy), or Walmart pharmacy to get a price comparison. You will be shocked at the significant price savings. I understand that small private pharmacies need to survive by turning a profit but this price difference is ridiculously greedy. read more

Under new management or ownership I have not had the same issue purchasing stamps. In fact, all the staff are now friendly and super helpful. Since the pharmacy was sold they have the worst customer service that I have ever encountered. They don't keep medications on supply and always have to order them, which slows down the refills. They tell you that they will call your doctor for refills and don't follow up to see if they have been sent in. They tell you your prescription is in the queue and will be ready by the end of the day and they don't have the medication on hand. It's very frustrating when days have passed since the refills were called in and they just ordered the medication. Do not use this pharmacy. I will be transferring all our prescriptions as soon as possible. read more

I drop packages off at this window roughly three times a week. I'm always met with a smile and warm words. Whether I'm in my ugly white van or my tiny Prius, I'm never judged. Lol The Tustin Pharmacy is a holdout of days gone by where conglomerate can never replace community. Every person who sticks their hand out that window (3 ladies and two men) are all wonderful. The guy who used to say, "We'll get 'em mailed for ya..." is gone, but not forgotten. An elderly lady friend of my family brings "her boys" here sweet treats when she drives up. Haha! This is a great pharmacy! The staff are always friendly and it's great to call and have a human pick up the phone and quickly check on your prescriptions. It's as if time stands still when you are here, and there isn't a day where I don't crave that amidst the hustle and bustle of life! I own a (very) small business, and when I'm in the area, I love to stop here to take my USPS packages in. I used to live in Tustin, and there's something about this town and their small business that really stand out. There is a warmness here that is felt whenever I come in, and I love that there is a drive-up window! Be aware that you cannot give large packages through there, but if you have envelopes, they will accept them. I just love seeing the same friendly faces whenever I come in. I only wish I had more packages to ship ! Regardless, it's a joy to come here. I wish there was a soda fountain and malts here. Then I'd move back to Tustin for sure!!! It seems like there should be! Irvine just doesn't have the heart or the character that Tustin does (that's just a side note haha). read more

I had posted a 1 star review for this place that I deleted... I felt bad because 1 star reviews suck and feel like bad karma. However, I do think it was an important review for the public so they don't make the same mistake. Reposting my experience with 2 stars because 2 stars are less ugly than 1. On the morning of 1/24/2020, I stopped by the Albertson's across the street from this post office to get a birthday card and a $300 prepaid visa gift card before heading to work. I had been to this post office several times before then, but this one particular instance was unique in the sense that I came at the very beginning of the day. When I walked in, the store was empty. It looked like the only people in the building were me and the male employee behind the post office counter. I used the post office counter and pen to write a message to my mom, sealed both the gift card and birthday card in the pink birthday card envelope, and put that envelope into a USPS priority mail envelope. I had the guy help me tape the priority mail envelope up so that it would arrive safely in Honolulu. Well, that did not happen! The card didn't arrive in Honolulu by 1/28/20 as it was supposed to. The tracking showed that the only scan was at this post office that morning it was sent out. I was concerned so I stopped by to ask if I could retroactively put shipping insurance on it. It was mid-day so it was busy, but I waited in line anyways. The same guy that helped me saw me walk in and looked shifty and uncomfortable. I didn't know why at the time. It's not like I mad or anything... I had figured it was lost in the system somewhere. I told him the card didn't make it to the destination and asked if I could put insurance on it as the gift card was $300. His coworker with the glasses heard me and said no, insurance can't be placed once it is sent out. Then the guy that had helped me days prior said that it *will* reach the destination. I told him that it should have reached the destination by now, but hasn't, that it hasn't even been tracking so it's probably lost. He said it happens, but it will get there. Um... ok. Four days after that encounter, the card did in fact reach the destination. (It takes four days for priority mail from Orange County to reach Honolulu, by the way.) Interestingly, the parcel had been ripped open, the pink birthday card envelope had been discarded and the gift card missing. Here's the issue. I've heard of graduation cards or Christmas cards being torn open with gift cards stolen. Because it's obviously a greeting card sent around the time when gifts are given. But this gift card was inside the birthday card envelope, at the end of January, hidden INSIDE a priority mail envelope! The only other person in the world besides me that knew what was in that priority mail envelope happened to be the only person who scanned the parcel between OC and Honolulu, in this pharmacy. I don't feel good about saying this, but it makes this guy look pretty bad! And based off Brenda H's review, it's definitely not an isolated incident. I was contacted by Kelly Gertonson, the manager after my initial posting. She didn't take my review seriously (she found it funny) because she was protective of her staff that she's known for a long time. That's fine, I didn't intend to get anyone fired. But I do want to tell whoever is reading this post to mail things of value at your own risk. I was then contacted by someone who identified himself as "special agent" Rob Knight to investigate the matter once I originally posted the scathing review. He was assigned to this case, and he told me to go back to the Albertsons to get a receipt for the gift card since it would have the visa gift card info on it... I didn't think was possible, but I was able to get it... he said he would track who uses the card... but then the country locked down and I'm guessing things got lost in the shuffle. By that point, I really didn't care anymore. I hope it was worth it for whoever it was that did this. In the end, for me, it was only $300 and although it was an aggravating situation on my mother's birthday, it was a lesson learned. I'd like to think that someone felt remorse for this, but I've come to learn that people that do these kind of things to others will only feel relief that they've gotten away with covering their wrongdoings, and nothing else. Best to walk away, learn, and protect yourself (and others if you can) from people like them in the future. read more

When I was growing up overseas, American TV often depicted images of what America was like back in the day. I had a mental image of what I thought America was going to be like, but alas, when I finally made it over here, it was of a different era. Tustin Community Pharmacy is one of those places which epitomizes my mental image of businesses in America. It looks like any small business you would find in a little town in Anywhere, USA, where people know one another and where that cozy hometown feel always makes you welcome. This pharmacy also has a post office inside. The location is very small and if there were 20 people standing inside, you would find it way too crowded. Still, it's the warmness of the people and the genuine feel of this place which draws 'em in. This is no CVS or Walgreens. This is one of those places which one longs for but are few and far between in this day and age. read more

Hi. I'm Florance and I'm a lazy procrastinator who hates slow lines and crummy service. Anyway, I hate all post offices. I know their jobs are stressful, being threatened with confused customers, unprovoked violence and holiday insanity, but I don't want them to take it out on me. But then I have a secret to help me cope with my postal needs: Little post offices hidden inside pharmacies. There's this one and then one in Irvine at Walnut and Culver. The postal staff here are nice times a billion. That's a lot of niceness! Today is declared the busiest day of the holiday season, according to the media. The staff here were incredibly fast. Yes, the line had at least 10 people in it, but it moved quickly and smoothly without any lagging or problems. In fact, it was so fast that I didn't lose my patience and increase my annoyance like usual. Everyone in line was also in a splendid mood, despite the wait. I would venture to say that the majority of the customers were chatting with one another and just having a great time. The nice lady in front of me agreed with me that she always comes to this postal office because they're soooo much more helpful and kind. They actually greeted the customers, asked how they were doing, and smiled. That's saying a lot considering how overwhelmed they must be today. Oh, and the drug store people are really sweet too. :) They even have a penny dish, in case you're a penny short or a penny over. And Uno candy bars, which I haven't seen in ages. I don't remember if it's good or not, but I bought one anyway. The resident pharmacist looks really nice, like a Disney sitcom's grandfatherly local pharmacist. Aww. read more

It DOES have that cozy hometown feel! I've been here a few times for mailing stuff, but have never used the pharmacy. I'd have to knock off a star because the post office workers are usually kinda slow with processing our mail. They would talk to each other a lot, leading to mistakes in calculations and measurements. I like their friendliness and looking at their name tags, which have weird versions of regular names. E.g. Kristeena instead of Christina. Something like that. read more

This is only for the post office part. Today has shown me to never come here to mail anything again. The clerk mixed up the two zip codes for something I was sending. ( very important court documents) I also told him I needed it overnighted. And no, it wasn't sent overnight .it then became lost in the mail center. I went to the major post office on 1st and they could care less, telling me it's out for delivery. Out for delivery where! I wouldn't say I was initially blown away by this pharmacy (therefore no five-stars, but you guys are really good!) but, again, it was quite a nice place. Friendly, greet you with a smile. Most important part about this: 1) They are a mom n' pop place! Gotta love small businesses. 2) THEY DO COMPOUNDING HERE!! 3) Great prices. They called me to let me know my prescription was ready (even though I said I would be returning after 5 - also convenient for us 8to5ers) and when I came to pick it up, I asked about sunscreen or any particular level that I needed to wear and the man who came to talk to me was very friendly and VERY knowledgeable (for my limited understanding, he was nice and took the time to explain it to me). This place is so great. We love it here. We always receive the best customer service by the very friendly employees. Today, I came in to ship a birthday gift to my brother-in-law out of state. I had already visited the local UPS store earlier but left there because the price I was quoted seemed too expensive and the employee was very rude. Thomas was so helpful and patient. With his assistance, I was able to send the package to my brother-in-law with a delivery date of 3 days faster than UPS and for $23 less! I will continue to be a regular customer at this location for all my shipping and mail services. Just came in here to fill a prescription. I was initially impressed with their service until the pharmacist comes out and tells me that my insurance does not cover the generic brand he carries. I've never heard that before. Generic is generic and my insurance doesn't really care which generic brand it is. Curious now, I called my insurance and they tell me that for sure it is covered. I go back in the pharmacy and tell the pharmacist that my medication is covered. He finally tells me the truth that the insurance doesn't pay him at profit margin. And then abruptly dismissed me--so much for the initial good impression. If you want a caring pharmacy that will be helpful to you--for ultimately a pharmacy is in the helping business--then don't go here. If you want an example of capitalism at its greedy best, then this is the place. read more

I have gone to Tustin Community Pharmacy for at least 10 years and all I can say is this place is how I picture the old town stores. When you walk in they say hello, after a while they learn your name and are usually very helpful. Whenever I go in, whether to get a prescription or other medicine, they are willing to tell me about what I am taking, and a couple times even gave me suggestions on other items that I could take that would work better.... and even told me where I could buy them since they did not sell them. I have been going to TCP since I moved to California 8 years ago. They are hands down the BEST. Super friendly and unlike other chain pharmacies I actually believe they know what they are talking about when it comes to RX knowledge...everything.
