This place has gone downhill since I last wrote my review many years ago. It was once a 4 star place, now it is a 2.5 star rounded to a 3 star. The good - - For loyalty customers - Weekly specials on things like soda and detergent. I wait until their Tide or other variety are heavily discounted, i.e. sometimes from $5 each to 4 for $10 but you must buy 4. - Some groceries like frozen dinner items, ice cream, canned soup, nuts, cereal, etc. They have limited electronics and printer inks, and the usual cosmetics and over the counter medicines and prescriptions - A pharmacist is usually available to discuss your medications with you regarding use instructions and side effects The bad 1. Wait time for prescriptions can be very long. even hours. Granted the fault is sometimes the customer who doesn't have the insurance worked out or the doctor's office. The drive through is great only if you're the first or second car, but not necessarily so if they're understaffed at the time you're there. 2. Biggest complaint in addition to the wait times is that someone will call saying the prescription is ready but you get there, and it's not. 3. Not Walgreen's fault but there are often homeless people hanging around the premises and sometimes panhandling. Also be aware that when the Tustin Brewery or other businesses across Newport Blvd. have no parking, people will park at Walgreens and walk across the street. Parking is better now that they've taken away the EV charging stations. read more

The pharmacy at this, Walgreens is highly professional, responsive, and always willing to personally help with any prescription issues. I am seriously baffled why waiting for this Pharmacy is so low because their community located, open 24 hours a day and every time I have a silly thing popped up with my insurance or with a prescribing medical provider they always help me figure it out. People here are always very kind and helpful and Text as well as the pharmacist themselves are always very knowledgeable and believe an answer questions regarding choosing over-the-counter medication's so it's a whole package in my mind. read more

I came in for my scheduled vaccine appointment at 8:30 AM and stood at the pharmacy counter for 8 full minutes without a single acknowledgment from the staff. During that time, three employees, a pharmacist, and even the store manager walked back and forth behind the counter, yet no one said hello or even glanced in my direction. As someone with a disability who cannot stand for long periods, this was extremely frustrating and disappointing. I finally had to speak up myself just to let them know I was there. Whatever happened to basic customer service, like a simple "Hi, we'll be right with you"? It makes a big difference. Unfortunately, the staff was not friendly at all, and the lack of acknowledgment made me feel invisible. Please; do better. Be better. Customers should be treated with respect and basic courtesy, especially when we have appointments and medical needs. read more

Drove to the store 9:45 pm to pick-up a 2 item mobile order and there was a very long line at the drive thru. Store was closed! It shows 24 hours! I got in the drive thru line and I had been waiting 20 minutes and only moved 2 car lengths. Was scrolling through Yelp and noticed someone left a review (thank you girl!) that they do not give mobile orders in the drive thru. I left. Big waste of time. I will have to come back tomorrow. My order is ready but only can pick-up at the photo counter. Would like to have known this before I drove to the store. My original confirmation showed drive thru available 24 hrs. PHARMACY **HONG MANAGER & UPPER CORPORATE MNGMENT to Walgreens Pharmacy I had a vaccination that I needed to get for travel and I arrived early for my schedule appointment at 9:05PM. I waited until 9:30PM since no one called me after i checked in. Just to be told after waiting 25 mims, that the pharmacist scheduled to fulfill this left early. The new pharmacist for grave yard explained he was alone and couldn't vaccinate without other another pharmacist WHICH I UNDERSTAND BUT SERIOUSLY???????.... The pharmacist who was schedules 5/25 left early and DIDNT DO HIS JOB. I was on time and early. I literally saw him leave. He didnt check the vaccination schedule and left. This is actually insane and there are no words to describe how upset i am at this. The manager needs to enforce: scheduling and following simple guidelines for operation. I saw her deal with a really rude customer, handle long lines, and for myself, she prepared for success by telling which numbers to request when I finally have a hold of my insurance. It's simply not that hard to run a pharmacy. Constantly getting calls that they can't find my prescription or they fill the wrong quantity from an old prescription. You call in and get sent to a "care center" aka call center that can't actually do anything. I just tell them to immediately transfer me to the actual pharmacy I am calling now. I don't appreciate having to do this for every single med I take. It takes upwards of 20 minutes each time. And don't get me started on how long it takes to pick up in the store...... read more

My doctor submitted the prescription at 11pm, I'm sitting here in the parking lot at 2:40 am and come to the store front with a sign saying they aren't open and to go to the pharmacy drive thru. I drive to the drive thru and there's a sign that says "Closed, will return at 3:30". Like are you serious...? I don't anticipate a ton of people coming to get meds late into the night, you graveyard pharmacists can't stay open and serve those few people? Warning to anyone wanting to book a vaccine appointment with Walgreens. . .DONT. I made an appointment for myself. Showed up and was sent away bc even though I had scheduled my appointment over a week before, they didn't have one of the three vaccine available. I said ok give me the 2 and I will reschedule the third. The pharmacist told the tech to tell me i needed to get them all at once and couldn't get them individually. Im a registered nurse and that is a flat out lie. He didn't want to be bothered. I said nothing. No sorry for wasting my time and gas. A simple instruction to reschedule. I did make another appointment but at a different location (not Tustin again). At this location it took the technician over an hour to process my insurance and understand what vaccines I needed even though it was clear in my appointment. Finally got my needed travel vaccine and left happy this was over and done. Story far from over though. Made my husband an appointment a week later and a week in advance to the appointment hoping this went better. Showed up to appointment in Irvine. The pharmacist let us know that we were at the wrong location and to go to the other Walgreens in Irvine. I asked if we could receive the vaccine at this location since we were already here and he told us no bc we checked in for the appointment and they were already processing it at the other store. Drove 18 min to the other location. This site let us know that they did not have the vaccine for the appointment we had made over a week ago. Told to make another appointment on line. Ileft the store very frustrated. Decided (hesitantly) to call Tustin location. The Pharmacy tech that answered the phone had poor communication skills and was the most unprofessional call I've had in a long while. She did however confirm that they had the 2 vaccines needed on hand. I thanked her and made yet another appointment on line for the same day to have this finished. My husband and I arrive and were told they have the vaccine but neither one of the pharmacist working were qualified to administer the vaccines. We were told to reschedule again. At this point I voiced my frustration and asked the tech to make me a new appointment for all the inconvenience Walgreens had caused today. She reluctantly did it and did apologize. I still don't understand why Walgreens online site allows you to make an appointment when A) they don't have the staff to administer B) have the vaccine to give you and C) don't bother to call the customer before they arrive. So the next day my husband drives to Tustin for hopefully the last time to receive his vaccine. 5 min before his appointment and arrival to store. .they call to tell him they don't have the vaccine any more and need to reschedule him yet again. I have never written a yelp review good or bad. But this has to be the worst experience I have ever had with any establishment in my life. Such poor service and customer service. I will never give business to Walgreens ever again and am shocked they even have any. As I was sitting for hour waiting for my injection I saw customer after customer that were turned away or something with their prescriptions was wrong. Again and again. The tops was this elderly man (mid 80s) with his walker and caregiver. Barely able to make the walk to the back of the store to get to the pharmacy area. He told the technician he received a call that his monthly prescriptions were ready for pickup. No meds were ready. He asked why they called him then. If you are in a hurry to get photos, try someplace else. They do not fill your order until you come in to pick them up, even hours after they say they will be ready. This has been the case for a few years. I was told they have other orders to fill but there is never anyone working to fill those orders either. I like the people that work here. Just not how they work. Lol. It's ok. Their pharmacy is sometimes disorganized. IMO. Waiting on a prescription takes forever and sometimes the ins and them don't get along. When I've gone outside of them I find out that I can get things a bit cheaper. Worse pharmacy ever. My partner went to this pharmacy after going to the dentist, he's been in excruciating pain. He went to give his prescription and waited for them. As he was getting checked out he asked if his insurance covered the meds. The person who was helping him had previously done it without insurance and said it was going to be twenty something dollars. So then once they did his insurance, they told him it didn't cover it. My partner then asked them if he could just pay cash. They told him they couldn't give him the medicine even if he wanted to pay for them because it was going to flag the system. He went to a different Walgreens after that and he did the exact same thing and they gave him his medicine even though he had to pay. I have read some reviews for this location and surprise to see such negative reviews The location is a good and drive thru is not a hassle. Easy access! Every time the I've come in for my prescriptions the pharmacists and staff are good. I had issues with CVS, with all the bad service they gave me and to others, that's really shocking. I decided to switch pharmacy and chose this Walgreens location . To start off their app is easy access and notifies you. Not only that but you get a call, and if there's issues they help you out. The pharmacy at times when busy I've gone they greet and thank you for your patience when your in line. Also when stepping in, you get greeted. Today I spoke with a lady that her name sounded like Cheryl, but not sure. She we were discussing about my insurance coverage, not being accepted at Walgreens. She suggested RX coupon which which I have. I called back and the same lady answered. I wished I would of taken her name. She took her time and checked if there's a better price for what I for prescribed. After knowing the amount I'd payed out pocket. I decided I'm still going to stay do to service. I let Cheryl know how it's a good feeling to know that you're being taken care of, providing great service is very rare. I thanked her for what she did today. I had to come here and give credit when it's deserved. Yes, the customers might be interesting to look at, and at times can be questionable. The feeling of being acknowledged and given great service, now in days you just don't get. Overall whether it's for pharmacy or location. I'm satisfied with the service I receive when I walk in or even do drive thru. Pharmacy and staff are great. Remember the pharmacist can't control what your insurance accepts, and subscriptions they receive and don't have, it's out of their control. You can partner up with your doctor, insurance or pharmacy of what locations accept or have what you need. But remember it's a 24 hour pharmacy, most likely be busy and will be on the go. Pharmacy review only! Went there on a Sunday at 5pm I'm the only patient there, not counting the drive-thru pickup. Took 40 minutes for them (two pharmacists, plus a tech) to figure out how to bill my insurance since I apparently didn't have the right card on me, just my medical card. This was for 2 new prescriptions which were already called in advance and ready. And I'm already in their system as a patient, just no insurance info. So don't go here if you can help it or it's late. I actually had to call Express Scripts and have them explain to me that the same information on my medical card needs to be given over the phone by a pharmacist to their 800 number if they need to look me up and charge me the right out-of-pocket amount. You're a major Pharmacy and you don't know how to bill or look somebody up who has Express Scripts?? (a major insurance provider). Insane. read more

Had to channel my inner hostage negotiator to get a simple antibiotic. The pharmacist was on some kind of power trip. We were filling a kid antibiotic while on vacation. He claimed he didn't have the med and refused to call the urgent care to discuss a substitute med. He insisted the clinic call him. Kept having to call the urgent care to try to reach the PA in between patients. The urgent care staff had never seen anything like this. If you need a 24 hour pharmacy, try CVS on Brooker instead. read more

I complained that they changed the diabetic needles on me without telling me. It was for my cat and the Needle Gauge, was much larger than what was prescribed. I didn't notice it initially and it must have been painful for my cat and I told these idiots over and over again to make the correction and they would not. Finally I changed to a different drug store company that knew how to get it right! These people are just horrible and I am so disgusted with their lack of care.
