Good customer service. There are not many independent makeup stores in OC, but this little store is a gem worth the drive from Los Angeles. Because they are small you have one on one quality customer service, not like with the 2 big makeup retailers. I went the week of my birthday early September; my first time since the pandemic. 1. Right off the 55 freeway. 2. Ample FREE parking in front of store, you are not fighting for a spot. 3. Genuine greeting, HI EVELYN. Thank you for making me feel like a valued customer. SUPER CLEAN STORE. 4. Evelyn was busy cleaning brushes, but quickly gave me first hand advice, on best sellers, current sales and promotions. 5. An entire wall full of lashes. A lash card on their selection and eye shape comparison. Very important for small eye lid space like myself. 6. TWO makeup stations, plus plenty of other counter space with well lit mirrors and ring lights for us to try all them colors. Plenty of natural light in that space from windows as well. So match your shade is easy and no guessing. 7. You are able to try on their massive brush selection. The wall opposite of lashes is brushes all in numerical order. 8. A full makeup studio in the back available for rent. 9. Free gifts with purchase. I was so happy to be back in that space. I love TMS eyelashes and alway get compliments when I wear them with my cosplay outfits. Recently I tried a few of their other products and let me tell you - I'm obsessed! Their brushes are soft and the lip gloss line is so incredibly pigmented and shiny - I'm actually quite shocked at how colorful a swipe is. You're really getting a lipstick with shine as opposed to just a gloss. Honestly, any of TMS branded items are great, but the lashes will keep me coming back for more. The "Eye Dare You" are my fav for an anime look and "Crowd Pleaser" is perfect when I do a more natural look for a character. At least for January 2021 they seem to have different in-store and online promotions and if you sign up with their loyalty program, you get $10 off for your birthday purchase. I try to swing by The Makeup Shack every time I'm in the Orange area to stock up on some of my favorite lashes! I highly recommend checking out their in-house brand. Their lashes range from natural to glam! My favorites are Miami and Crowd Pleaser for sure :-) plus--they're cruelty free faux mink for the vegan ladies and gents! The Makeup Shack brand brushes are also great and won't break the bank. I picked up a blending brush for $6 and it's really great! I would say they're sturdier than Morphe brushes. They also carry brands like Sugarpill, Kara Beauty, LA Girl, Violet Voss, OFRA, Mario Badescu, Bioderma, and Skindinavia (cheaper version of UD setting sprays)! The prices are drugstore to mid-range and cater to a wide variety of makeup enthusiasts, from the casual user to the working makeup artist. If you're around the area, there's no need to travel all the way to Burbank to purchase affordable, good quality make up. I actually found this place by accident. I was just browsing for other options to purchase make up from and HELLO MAKE UP SHACK! I depended on previous Yelp reviews on this one and decided to give it a try. Small space, located in a very sketchy row of stores but a surprise when you walk inside. I was dumbfounded by their display of palettes, lip products, individual shadows, and other cosmetics. I must have circles the store 15+ times. I wish I could have bought everything but the boyfriend said no and had to narrow down my choices. Palettes that contained 35 individual shadows were $16 and some were $20. They had morphe brushes there too but a limited amount. Bronzers, Highlighters, brush cleaners, lashes, etc. I guess if you're looking for something specific make sure you give them a call first. And take notice of their return policy. Also, just an advice. Check the palette they give you at the registers. I failed to open mine and one of them was cracked. So sad but that's my fault for not looking. read more

I've been following the makeup shack for 6 years, always was so excited and supportive for their growth. They have so many lovely brands for such a great price. But today, they lost a customer. I had just bought a pair of their "eye dare you" lashes, I was in an important event and out of town, when i went to pull a lash off, it tore in two. I went in to exchange them, but they wouldn't let me since I had to use them (as stated above I had no other choice sadly but to use them). It just makes me sad that they can't even do something small when the lash broke before i even put it on. Never shopping here again. read more

So I finally get to write a review on this place! This place is clean. A++! This store has a cute and simple design. Employees are very attentive and helpful to the customers. I love how they have morphe brushes and palettes here, saves me the drive to Burbank. I much rather drive here then to Burbank, that's about a 2 hour drive for me. They also have a wide variety of things like the ball, LA girl, morphe, Ben NYE powders, koko lashes, etc. I bought me some brushes, a palette, and koko lashes. Omg this store is everything. I am so so glad I found this store so I don't have to drive all the way to Burbank for makeup brushes. The parking spot was tiny but there were a few vacant spots. The location is hard to find if you're not familar with the area. You just need to get in the middle lane, drive slowly, and look around. The girls were very nice and helpful!! They were really sweet with helping me out around some of the products. If you're a first time customer you get free lashes, if you spend $25+ you get a small gift. The store overall is small, but the lighting and organization was very satisfactory making everything easy to find. THE BRUSHES ARE SAME PRICE AS MORPHE ONLINE MINUS THE SHIPPING. The manufacturer clearly wasn't enthusiastic about service, but the owner went out of her way to deliver my order. 1. The products are at pro discount level (super inexpensive) 2. The Makeup Shack is definitely a hidden gem for all you makeup lovers out there. So for a fairly small store (but it's not too small), The Makeup Shack goes above and beyond! One of the main reasons my friend and I came here was because she discovered that they carry Morphe products THUS helping us avoid the trek to LA to get the Morphe products! In addition to all the makeup products they carry, they also have z-palettes, brushes, travel cases, and fake eyelashes available for purchase as well! One of the biggest things I noted earlier was the customer service and how much the Makeup Shake cares about their customers! If you spend more than $25 you can get $2 worth of items so you can grab yourself some extra lashes or eyeliner :) Also, if you're a Makeup Shack first timer you get free lashes! Everyone hypes this store up when the products aren't unique or special. I noticed that they don't have the same products as the ones posted in Yelp photos. The location put me off and the store is so tiny. I walked in and felt a bad vibe from the employees. I love this place! I just have to say that every time I'm here, I'm always greeted warmly by the employees and they're really helpful when I need suggestions. I'm also OBSESSED with TMS lashes. Such high quality and last several wears. Another TMS product I love is their beauty sponge, it's the only one I find comparable to beautyblender, but way more affordable. Almost been a year, but I'm here to update! They carry more products now, but going exclusive with their own line of brushes, palettes, and lashes! (No more Morphe) Customer service is still a hit or miss. 1 star is docked off just because every time I go in there without makeup (I swear, I've read others have the same problem) some of the employees there will look at you like you're some creature or simply treat you poorly. Trust me when I say they make it pretty damn obvious if they're talking about you. But the employee LAURA is absolutely wonderful. I wish they had more employees with her attitude to help. I purchased a powder and was told i would be able to returned if not opened if I would of know no refunds at all I would of waited to purchased the powder they tried on me. I went back today to return it since I didn't like how the powder ended up making me look cakey. They only wanted to offer me store credit that is ridiculous. Oh God, Makeup Shack, take my money! First off, their prices for the quality of products they carry are amazing! It seems like whoever considers whatever products to bring in has thoroughly thought out what products they love and taken into consideration of not over crowding the shelf space with junk. It's impossible to buy anything from here and not love it. Trust me, my first time coming here was at a sale, the stuff was so cheap I basically grabbed everything and everything I tried out I was thinking- "If this was branded, I would've gladly paid 10x more". Besides their make up, I'm addicted to two things here- their eyelashes and their Morphe brushes. Their eyelashes range from $1.50 for regular to $20. $20 is for mink and it's well worth it! Don't think that these are like your drug store lashes, these are the lashes that you see on make up artists on social media like IG. The best part about any of the lashes they carry, they're sooooo easy to put on. They have a natural curve to them that sticks to your eyelids easily and they have spacing on the area you apply your eyelash glue on just so it easily sticks and stays on long. It's a little hard to explain but the drug store lashes end up going straight and after a while it seems harder to put on. Just to add to this, I LOVE THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE! No one every pushes you to buy anything, but everyone is super helpful and real! They'll tell you what works and what doesn't work and gladly give you tips. Just do yourself a favor and stop by.
