Self checkout didn't work, person came over to "help." Took a while to get to working and one soda bottle rang up at over $50. I don't usually review markets, but today's visit was exceptional. The produce guy was friendly, and we chatted about the mangos briefly. I like how this location carries items that my local Ralph's does not. I can find Lipton Onion Mushroom soup mix, Campbell's Cream of Broccoli soup, and Gallo salami chubs here. At the checkout, the checker greeted me warmly. I bought a Christmas-themed shopping bag, and she pointed out the other seasonal patterns. I forgot to have her scan my phone to access the digital coupons I had clipped, but she and the manager took care of helping me out. I must have held up the line with my lack of technical expertise, but everyone was very nice. The store is clean, and there is ample parking in this shopping center. read more

The manager, the middle-aged gentleman, consistently struggles with even the most basic aspects of customer interaction and carries a noticeably sour attitude. He seems perpetually disengaged and makes no effort to acknowledge simple pleasantries, creating an unwelcoming atmosphere from the moment you walk in. I understand that this is a discount store and not a Gelson's, but it seems like he truly hates his job. Based on my repeated experiences, it's clear that a customer-facing role in retail...especially one that relies on creating a "somewhat" positive environment, is a poor fit for him. read more

I used Smart & Final on delivery for the first time this past week twice! I normally shop online at Albertsons and often it is a hit or miss and I would describe the service from 0 to 10 a 5. Sometimes there are even rude. Not the case with Smart & Final thanks to Pete Sandoval a store manager. I have never met such conscientiousness about providing great service with my shopping as well as execution of the delivery. The only downside is there online app is so horrible and pretty much useless that you should use the website address rather than their app. Not all items they carry in the store are provided in their app or their website. One example, they carry the large Post honey Bunches of Oats yet it's not mentioned on neither the app or website, the Albertsons doesn't even carry the large size which is always been frustrating. Smart and Final even carries the large country brand French rolls which I have been hunting for and it's not mentioned on their website. Albertsons or Stater Brothers doesn't carry it. Always thought it was ridiculous trying to make a pastrami or steak sandwich on the small French rolls other stores carry. I have been subscribing to Albertsons Home Delivery Service for a while, and if Smart & Final had that program, I would certainly switch. Again the only downside is that smart and final needs to fix that freaking app and I don't understand how something like this is neglected, because I know they are probably losing Millions nationally with their 253 stores that I know of. It's always been a bit of a chore going in the market, pushing a cart down the aisles hunting down the items on my list and then have to hauling home a lot of bags and some of them pretty heavy putting them in and out of the car and then carrying him into my house. It's so much easier having somebody do that for you and bring it to your front door. The service is really bad special cashier Jenny she always rude like if she does not like to be there is not the first time she is like that I hope this message gets to the manager I go about 2-3 times to the store during the week. She never says hi or bye or how are you guys not even interacts with customers she just starts scanning and when she scans she grabs and trows the things. How can she do that we choose out our stuff carefully making sure there not damage and she just grabs the things and trows them what is that Jenny if you don't like customer please look for another job I believe this job is not for you. As of the last few weeks the employees are serving rotten vegetables, meat. The register is slow where several times they cancel transactions and start over, or they charge incorrect prices and do not notice. Usually the price is in favor of the customer, which means S&F loses money. Recently the cashier charged the person in front of me for 1 pack of 24 beers, when they had 2 packs of 24 beers. The cashier saw it and said oh well we have a long line... at the same time, the vegetables you buy and meat you buy are borderline rotten. No price markdown for that, though. It seems that this location has a change in employees as of recent, who are very bad at simple tasks, like throw away wilted and browning veggies, while scanning the correct amount of items with a scanner. I used to trust these people with my life, now those people appear to be gone and some randoms are scaring me. No one wants food poisoning on the chicken leg meat bag pack. Overall a clean well stocked store. They are right next to a swim school for tots but they don't stock swimming diapers. Seems like a missed opportunity. So they didn't have what I was looking for but they do still have essentials: diapers, baby food, champagne, orange juice. Enjoy! read more

I purchased a $20 piece of meat last Sunday and on Monday when I went to cook it, the meat was grey and off. I called customer service and asked if I could send in a photo or get a refund/ credit. They told me I had to take the meat back to store. When I took the meat back to a smart and final the manager said we have to take it back to the original store... which is was out of our area. This is all so disappointing because I'm very understanding and usually not one to leave a bad review but there has been no customer service. When you buy from a store you should be able to return or work with a customer service person to resolve an issue. I would not recommend purchasing meat from this store. read more

I've always found what I needed here for a fair price. The crowds are never that bad during the week. Typical grocery store items found here. We shop here for all our items we can't find at Trader Joe's next door. Between the two we pretty much find all the food items we need! I just kick myself when I go against my better judgement and then find out I should have gone with my gut feeling. We bopped into S & F last night, New Year's Eve to pick up a few things for our New Year's Day dinner. I had told my husband that we should go around the corner to Albertsons since I needed some pork meat, but he said that the meat at S & F should be fine. We did didn't find exactly what we were looking for - they just had one pack of Country Ribs and we needed 2 - so we got the one package and picked up something elsw that we could work with. The meat looked good and it had a use by date of Jan. 5th. When I opened the package today I was disappointed that the meat smelled sour. At first I thought it might just be the packaging but it smelled up the entire kitchen and the family noticed it right away. We ended up having to go to Albertsons to buy some fresh Country Ribs which is what I should have done in the first place! Smart and Final is a great non-member store chain to shop for groceries. This particular store is fairly large and contains a good variety of products. The store is very clean and well lit. I did find it's organization a bit confusing and wandered the aisles a bit to find the products on my shopping list. For example, the cheese is not near the refridgerators near the center of the store near the deli section. Prunes found near cereal and baking goods in other stores were near produce. The signage at the aisles weren't helpful to me. I guess I could get used to the organization after shopping there more often. I'm still a fan. read more

I mostly love this store. I always check out the clearance stuff in the back hallway by the restrooms. I am also quite fond of the clearance meat although even that I feel like has climbed in price. I used to love getting eggs here but even those have gotten so expensive. I haven't always been impressed with the friendliness of the staff but I just try to avoid those individuals' lines when I see them working. read more

I never thought I would write a review for Smart and Final, but hear me out. I stopped in to pick up some mayo and my eye caught a few beautiful rotisserie chickens hanging out near the front. I can't remember the last time I had a good one from a supermarket, and personally i don't think the one at Costco is that great either. This is one big bird. For $6.99 you are definitely getting your money's worth on quantity alone. I tried picking up by the edges and the plastic lid gave way to the chickens' weight. I also may have spilled some juices onto the heating station. Oops. But the taste test is what matters most, and this chicken blew me away. It's perfectly cooked and juicy throughout, unlike the competition. Even the white meat is delicious, which is never the case. This chicken gets five stars, which means this Smart and Final also gets five stars. read more

I appreciate the prices at smart and final. However, it would be good to know up front if we need to bag our groceries or not if we bring in our own bags. I mention this because I gave my bags to the cashier and not once did she (Sarah) mention I need to bag it myself. Instead of waiting till the end after I spend almost $150 of groceries to do it myself. I don't mind bagging my own groceries but just tell me in the beginning and don't suggest to put everything back in my cart so you can rush me to get the other customer checked out. Every grocery store is different - pavilions and stater bros are bagging for their customers - I get it. All I ask is for communications up front so I don't hold up the line for other customers. As of 6/26/2021, if you bring in your own bags you need to bag it yourself. read more

I was contacted by the store manager Pete. He apologized for the behavior of his assistant and offered me a $25 gift card. He was very nice and assured me that he will talk to his assistant and makes sure things like this don't happen again. I accepted the apology, then went there and purchased a case of Coke with some other drinks and applied the gift card towards the purchase. I will give this store the benefit of doubt and resume shopping there. I hope there will be no more incidents like this again. Tonight there were 10 people in line before they opened a new aisle. I am returning again a week later and there are 2 check stands open but once again there are 4 or more people out into the aisle because there are more customers than they have checkers. read more

This is by far my favorite store when I buy groceries. They have everything I'm looking for and the prices are lower than any other market. They have a large produce section with many organic products. I'm a big fan of cheese and only buy mine here. They don't have a butcher, but the meat section is pretty good. Check out the section with clearance meats for added value. You probably won't find lower prices for frozen foods, and ice cream. My favorite is the $6.99 roasted chicken. I get one every time I buy my groceries. I will even pick one up on my lunch break. Even after driving home the chicken is still hot. I have time to whip up some mashed potatoes before it cools down. You will never visit the store without someone asking at least once if you are finding everything all right. I have never been to a market with such friendly and helpful employees. read more

Smart and Final is a lot different than it used to be when it was mostly a place for small restaurants and church pancake breakfasts to get large quantities of food ingredients and supplies. The "Extra" means that they still have most of what the original smarten finals have plus regular sized quantities and varieties of most grocery items. Well I think it's fine that they do that in many cases there is some convenience to having those smaller items, I think I like it better place to go to get the large quantities or commercial varieties items that you could find at the regular grocery store and get them for a good savings price without having to Pay the membership fee and wait in the lines at the membership warehouse stores. read more

This store has lousy service and female checkers with attitudes. They sold me a product that went rotten a month and a half before the expire date. Wouldn't take back without a receipt. It was as plain as day that the same product was in the rack. First impressions are everything and this was my first visit to any Smart&Final. I took my time to shop and learn the layout. I was told to try "their" rotisserie chicken and will definitely be getting my bird here from now on. Prices are quite competitive except for soda -- make sure it's on sale. Same for chips. Otherwise prices for produce about the same as Sprouts but they carry more that that store and more competitive compared to the other big chains. The manager and staff were all very friendly and helpful. I hope it continues as I will be shopping here from now on. read more

Smart & Final has done a good job with their Extra stores, creating attractive looking supermarkets with a club store feel. There are things I exclusively buy here because they are way cheaper than anyplace else, so it is nice to actually do a full shopping trip here without having to hit up other stores. Great place to go I found boxes of my favorite GTS kombucha trilogy style and boxes of my pink organic coconut water extra cheap then it is basically anywhere else way cheaper than at whole foods, fresh squeezed orange juice on the spot guys is so far foods runs out head over to Smart and final here in Tustin. They did not have the swiffer I was looking for because they were out but they had tons of other cleaning products and even borax which is very hard to find lately all on a good decent price smart and final has no longer been been for a while just sister to go to stock up on cleaning supplies but it's a full on grocery store and health store outlet like a Food 4 Less for organic food as well as organic cleanser cleaner and alcohol beverages they have a whole section for that. I recommend checking out the smart and final and if you don't find what you want there's a Trader Joe's right next-door. The parking lot is huge and it's right off of Irvine Boulevard near Newport Boulevard I'm definitely a winner and I've come back multiple times thanks smart and final for proving your worth again totally different from back when I was in college read more

Went in for beer. Saw a sign on the bottom shelf for $9.99, limit 2. Brought them to the checkout, now they're $16.99. I ask why. They tell me that I needed to purchase $25 worth of something else to get this price. I wish they had placed their sign in a place where that requirement was readable. I like this store fine and the people are all friendly. With the current shelter-in-place order I ordered a bunch of stuff for delivery from them last weekand was pretty dissappointed. Ordered fresh top sirloin in-a-bag which had a note "(16 ounces)" so I ordered several. Apparently it only comes in bag of about 15 pounds! The picker also gave me defafinated coffee when I ordered regular coffee. Store person said to talk to delivery company. I called them, left a messge for a call back, never heard back. The store has agreed to refund the price of the coffee. One other issue with the delivery is that minimum orders are around $100 but they deliver in one days time (that is currently very good). read more

Very dissatisfied with checkout service. The cashier bagged the prior customer's groceries. However, put my bags to the side rather than bagging as you go as most cashiers do. My disabled husband, being a gentleman, put the heavy items in the cart and Lee Ann/ Leigh still didnt bag anything. What made matters worse was her backup was standing next to her waiting to cover her for break and did not lift a finger either to help get us out quicker! Did not expect this for the high prices I pay here.
