I have driven by Rivera multiple times and a friend thay lives close by has been hyping Rivera up. Finally got a chance to stop on by and was pleasantly surprised that there is a meet fresh and a Chinese sit down restaurant, right when tou enter. Super convenient if you want a refreshing snack or a whole meal. Rivera is well stocked with many different Asian snacks, noodles, spices, teas, and what not. So much stuff! They also carry "nicer" fruit, that can be given as presents during lunar new year. Prices are beyond reasonable. Some aisles are a bit cramped and hard to get by in but its well worth it. Staff is friendly and helpful. Definitely coming back to stock up soon read more

Rivera Good Services, located in an outdated plaza, is set up like an Asian Costco (warehouse). The store enterance is different - entering to the left is to the warehouse and to the right is the restaurant and a dessert - boba bar. The store set up is a hodgepodge of Asia snacks, staples, merchandise and kitchen utensils -- so it's a bit overwhelming. Items are often sold in their original shipping cartons or just stacked so very minimal decorative shelving -- just price tag and no fluff. I do like their snacks -- very niche with some flavors that you cannot get in the states. The prices are not as competitive as I would like but interesting store. I've been living in Irvine for a year and a half, and I just discovered this amazing Asian grocery store nearby! It's super convenient--no more long drives all the way to other Chinese areas just to shop. I'm pretty sure even local restaurant owners know about this place because they carry lots of bulk-size ingredients and sauces. Maybe they were trying to keep it a secret from us regular shoppers! From now on, I'll definitely come here regularly for groceries--it's even more affordable than some of the big-name Chinese supermarkets. This place is like a warehouse for Asian restaurants. If you need bulk items it's great. It has a funny smell in there. And I noticed many items were very close to expiring or actually even expired. Specifically many snack items were expiring this month or next. And some of the boba/drink items were expired. However the deals/prices are pretty good for items not expired. They should probably throw out or mark the expired items. We got some sauces and drink items. read more

Rivera Food is hands down my new go-to Asian warehouse market in LA! It's HUGE--like the Costco of Asian groceries--and you can literally find everything: sauces, snacks, BBQ skewers, drinks, even kitchen supplies. Prices are super friendly (lamb only $3.89/lb--cheaper than Costco!!). Perfect spot if you're hosting a BBQ, hotpot, or any big gathering. Rivera Food Service is located in 17th St off of the 55 Frwy. It's easy to locate and access. Parking is plentiful. The main entrance gives you access to the grocery store to the left and a couple of space-sharing restaurants to the right. It reflects a warehouse vibe in the set up and is well organized in its layout. The store is comparable to an Asian/Chinese version of Smart & Final. Both bulk and regular-sized items are available for whatever your needs may be. An excellent variety of Asian spices, noodles, sauces, and rice are available. Today I was most intrigued by the variety of American brand snacks that were imported from China and featured popular Chinese flavor twists. It was all about the snacks today! I picked up a variety of Oreos and a can of Pringles. The Oreos, in my opinion, are better than the US ones in that they're perfectly sweetened without leaving your mouth feeling like it's coated in sugar afterwards. Same for the Pringles; perfectly salted without leaving your mouth feeling like it's coated in salt afterwards. Anyway, the snacks were a hit; I'd definitely come back to buy more. The good: They had giant long stem strawberries here that looked very fresh for $45/case. I ended up getting a pack of 30 wooden chopsticks for $17. This is a good spot to buy food packaging as well like to-go plastic containers. The store is neatly arranged, clean and spacious. There's plenty of parking. Most items are processed and packaged but they do have some fresh veggies as well. The bad: I wish the chopsticks were labeled with whether or not they're machine washer safe. Things weren't cheaper than I expected. I thought bulk purchases would offer significant savings. The interesting; They sell bulk items and are open to the public. Stopped by here to check out this restaurant supply store located adjacent to Mama Lu's Dumpling House. Walked in and it immediately reminded me of the original Smart and Finals that were first opened in old, closed former grocery stores. There's pallets of rice that greet you at the entrance as you enter. In front of you are all the metal warehouse store type of racks for displaying/storing their merchandise. I was quite surprised to see how many varieties of packaged soup mixes, hit pot mixes and other meal seasoning pasts this place offers. I was especially happy to see that they carried many of the Asian cooking products I use but in the bigger bulk sizes, like spices, Gold Plum brand Black Vinegar in a gallon size jug. Lots of variety in their condiment section! The y also have large selection of boba tea flavors, bobas premade, and teas. I saw a large bulk bag of oolong tea for under $10. I also found another source for my bulk dried, sliced shiitake mushrooms! They also have a large assortment of restaurant to-go containers which also make great lunch containers as well. Their fresh seafood section was really bare except for one or two tanks that kept some live fish. Nothing displayed on ice. So for me, not a good choice for buying any free seafood until they ramp up here, if they ever do. The fresh produce section was okay. I saw some mini box choy I have never seen before here (which also shows up next door at Mama Lu's). Section of produce was decent but the price was a slight bit higher I noticed. Like green onions were .99 a bunch. In little Saigon, one can get 3 bunches for .99. I guess if one does not feel like driving, then it's dida matter of paying for the convenience. I didn't see too much fresh meat, just frozen trays of pre-sliced meat for hot pots. Same with frozen seafood, almost non existent. Either they do not carry it or I missed its but I did not find any fresh or refrigerated noodles, dumpling wrappers etc. There was a pallet on the sales floor with large boxes of Almay fresh noodles, but I was surmising it was for Mama Lu's use only, since there was no pricing signage. I will stop by here whenever we are in the area, since I do like many of the larger sized items they carry in the condiment section. But for produce, fresh noodles, fresh seafood, looks like I will still need to shop in the Little Saigon area. read more

This is Rivera's second store in So Calif, modeled after its main store in El Monte. Rivera Food Services is not your typical Asian supermarket, but rather a Smart & Final type of stores for restaurants who need to buy items in bulk, e.g., bundles or cases. Like Smart & Finals, customers can also buy individual bottle or loose items. Walking around the store you will see warehouse style metal-framed racks instead of shelves. I would describe this store is in its soft opening stage since its seafood tanks and many shelves are empty. It's herbal shop is not open yet either. Lucky for me, they are giving each customer a package of fresh oyster mushrooms while the supply last. I figure it will take them a couple of months to have the store fully stocked. read more

Genuinely the hell is wrong with the employees here? Today's Cashier working at 2:30 is very disrespectful and rude. Rivera Food Service is poorly run. Staff is unfriendly and unhelpful, they don't offer assistance, and act annoyed when asked simple questions. I waited a long time at the counter and no one ever showed up, even after I asked the cashier for help. The store doesn't feel clean. There's a weird smell when you walk in, and the produce doesn't look fresh. The layout is disorganized, and it's hard to find what you're looking for. Prices aren't competitive. For a place that looks like a warehouse market, you'd expect better deals, but most things are regular price or higher. Several items looked like they had been sitting on the shelves for too long. I also saw another customer try to ask two employees for help. At first, I thought they were joking with her because they were laughing at her and wouldn't answer. It was clear they couldn't communicate and weren't making an effort. It was uncomfortable to watch. Seemed to be more staff in there than customers. Overall, it's frustrating to shop here. Didn't know about this Supermarket before, I was just went to lunch at Mama Lu's where they shared building some sort. Mama Lu's just recently open and the Supermarket as well. Its organized and seems they sre selling by the bulk/case but some stuff they have it individually but not much. They are a little higher price than any other asian Supermarket but they have stuff that the other Supermarkets don't carry. I am please and the place is clean. Parking is not bad. I stopped in on Saturday and browsed every aisle. Upon entering, there is a weird funky odor. You first come upon all the produce. Some items are priced competitively and some, not so much. The back wall is all refrigerated foods - wonton wraps, noodles, dairy and more product. Aisles of sauces, packaged snacks, containers, etc. there's a lot of Asian items. Prices are not competitive. Read the labels. Rice wine vinegar is cheaper but it's diluted with water for example. read more

Good selection of Chinese dry goods, drinks and specialty items at about 30% less than 99 Ranch prices. I was expecting more meat and produce but I did leave with a full cart of items and only spent $70. Cashier was also super friendly. It is an odd location for this kind of business so hope they do well and stick around because I will be back often. read more

What a great find. Was in the plaza next door grabbing Thai food when I saw this place and decided to check it out. They sell things individually and in bulk. All kinds of Asian sauces, condiments, grains, spices, snacks, instant noodles, frozen dumplings, beverage, variety of fresh fruit and veggies, etc. They have some things not found at other stores, ie, Laksa paste and precooked unsweetened black rice soup in pouches (for dessert). Interesting location for a specialty food / restaurant supply warehouse to open up in Orange County. This location has been vacant for years, so it's nice to see it occupied, especially in this challenging economic environment. If you've been to the El Monte location, it's very similar. Although this location seems to have a bit of an identity challenge; I can't tell if it meant to cater to retail or to wholesale/ restaurant clients. They do have an extensive selection of "staple" asian items. The fresh seafood looks like it's still in limbo: the tanks have water, but there are very few inhabitants. When I have more freezerspace, I'm definitely going on a dim sum binge here . They also have a whole end aisle of restaurant to go containers, along with cups, napkins, straws, utensils, and drink / boba powders. Mama Lu's set up shop in the lobby so this was a nice stroll after a very filing meal. read more

My s/o stumbled upon this store when he went to Mama Lu's for lunch last week as it's in the same building. We were ecstatic to hear that we now have an Asian supermarket so close by the Tustin/Santa Ana border! It was semi-bare when we walked in, but we were able to pick up some pretty good snacks as we strolled down the aisles. Give it some time and they should be up and running at full capacity. I loved that they gave us free oyster mushrooms and soy sauce with our purchase as a token of appreciation! We hope they continue to expand their assortment/stock more goodies. Def can't wait to come here for all our dinner essentials without having to make the trek to the Asian stores in other cities. read more

Always has weird smell. I tried to get onions, as soon as I pick one up, bunch of flies came out. Whole store is so warm for the veggies, so I am sure they are not fresh (They don't look fresh either). Customer service is not that friendly either. read more
