I really wanted to love this place, and in many ways, I do. The burritos are genuinely great, and you can tell the ingredients are high quality and thoughtfully sourced. I'm always up for a breakfast burrito and this came up in my search. I guess there's a really popular OG location in DTLA, so this would be their Eastside version. Place is in a huge old building with high ceilings. The kitchen is huge as well and if you go around the side, you can see how big it is. You'd think the menu would be much larger, but it's not. Parking is street, but in the morning you'll find some spots. People mostly take their items to go, although there's a dining area inside. Ordered the following: - Cinnamon roll - 3/10: pretty horrible actually. In my head, I was thinking I'd get one fresh from one of those large ovens in the back, but the cashier had one already boxed up and slid it over to me. It tasted cold, stale, super sugary and just not very good. This was pretty comparable to the honey buns you can get at a gas station. And I paid 6 bucks for this. - Bacon burrito - 6.5/10: this one was actually pretty tasty. The use bacon bits instead of strips, and supposedly the bacon is some of the best you can get, at least that's what the cashier told me. Couldn't really tell to be honest. Seeing lots of folks come here for the breakfast burritos but I think where WAKE AND LATE really shines is with their "rip and dip" bagels - don't get me wrong, their burritos are also solid but at $13-$18 each but I'd much rather swing by my local Mexican joint for a burrito doubled in size at half the price. Between two recently, we got the Bacon Breakfast Burrito, Pastrami Breakfast Burrito, and the "rip and dip" Plain bagel with a side of the Scallion Whipped Spread -- 100/10 would recommend going for the plain bagel with scallion whipped spread (IMO, this is easily one of the best bagels I've had in LA) and if I'm grabbing a burrito from here again, would go for the Bacon. read more

This location took over the old Le Cordon Bleu school here in Pasadena! The interior was kept the same, which is pretty nostalgic for someone who grew up coming to this location for meals. Compared to the LA Downtown location, super mid. I was extremely excited that a Wake & Late opened up closer to my home so I ran to get their burrito. Mind you that every person I take to Wake & Late, absolutely fall in love with their burritos. The day I came to the Pasadena location was when I was deeply disappointed. My burrito was cold, you can see in the photo that the cheese was not even melted even though its right next to the hash browns. An utter disappointment. I also had an opportunity to talk to the location's manager and he sounded extremely excited that Wake & Late has plans to expand into 4-5 stores across the LA and Santa Monica region. Although I was excited, if this is how they quality control while the manager is there... im worried. Please note, that I have never tried their coffee and cannot speak on that. But the one thing that put Wake & Late on the map, is cultivating the best breakfast burrito in the state, if not the nation. The burrito I had, might have been the worst. Tried this spot in old town Pasadena because it was in the same building as my gym. I asked if they had a vegan breakfast burrito and although it's not listed on the menu, they gladly modified their regular one by taking out the eggs and cheddar cheese. They asked if I wanted to add pickled jalapeño and I'm glad I did. The burrito was tasty, but my major complaint was that it only about the third of the size of a traditional breakfast burrito. For the price point, it left me wishing there was more. Truth be told, with their modest size, I probably could have eaten three of them. There are plenty of other local options that would get you two, much more superior burritos for about 5 bucks more. Coffee: Acidic, bitter, not good. Let me begin with the craft of this burrito which has eggs, bacon, tater tots l, avocado, cheddar and cotija cheese. Every bite is favor full and I believe there is a craft to this burrito. When I took my first bite it was so good , I eat the whole burrito. I asked for the chipotle aioli on the side instead of the cilantro creama. Only because I not a cilantro fan. The size is perfect and know people are looking for quantity instead of quality. This burrito is definitely a quality burrito. I also had the vanilla bean ice coffee as well. they make their own syrup and you can taste the quality in this latte. It's 6.00 which is the same price as a Starbucks latte. I totally recommend this place if you're in the Pasadena area. They also have a location in Downtown LA. Lastly, everyone who works there is so friendly too. Really can make your morning. My friend and I have been trying to find a good bagel location closer to home, and this place may be it. Located down Colorado, parking can be a doozy to find but if you're okay with walking there is street parking a few blocks away if not on one of the closer streets. This is your typical order and sit location with plenty of small tables inside and out. Their bagel menu is limited to 4 flavors (plain, Parmesan, onion, and chocolate) and they tend to run out early. We got there around lunch time and the only bagels left were the onion and chocolate so we got one of each along with their lox cream cheese and their seasonal. Order minimum is two bagels. Our cashier, Crystian, who was wonderful btw, recommended placing an early morning order if you wanted to try the other flavor and/or to buy in bulk (something to think about for next time!). We also ordered their vegetarian breakfast burrito. Burrito - my friend and I shared one and it was a bit small but definitely tasty! The burrito is filled with chilis that added a nice kick and the tater tots stayed crispy. At $13 a burrito, it is a bit pricer and I recommend not to share if you don't plan to get other things off the menu. Would be enough for just one person. Bagels - I have never had a chocolate bagel and was a bit weary that it'd be too sweet. Definitely surprised that it was not! They use valrhona chocolate which added a light sweetness to the semi salty bagel. We coupled this bagel with their seasonal cream cheese which had a nice touch of toffee. As for the onion bagel, definitely different from other onion bagels I have had since the onions are much sweeter (think Maui onion flavor). It looked/tasted like they coat their onion bagel in a layer of sugar/syrup before baking. We paired it with their lox cream cheese which was a bit too savory for this bagel and should have gone with just plain. The building Wake and Late is housed in is a super tall building on the corner of Colorado & Oakland - you can't miss it & it's labeled all over, or you can just look for the crowd/line :) Once inside, and called upon to order, you'll see the extremely high vaulted ceiling, big commissary style kitchen inside behind the counter, which is a really cool vibe. I suddenly felt as if I were in San Francisco. The menu is not long, which is great because it's pretty easy to make a selection. If the menu is large, I can get pretty indecisive, so this was nice and I chose my breakfast within seconds for a change :-P I opted for the bacon breakfast burrito. They seemed to proactively choose to serve the crema and salsa on this side, which is a great idea. I love both, so I indulged but it was nice to pace my own self on portion for each bite. The red salsa is pretty spicy, which is great but proceed with caution. I've had Wake and Late downtown, it was amazing, this second experience was equally as heavenly. At this location, they were also promoting bagels and cream cheeses. I love bagels, when house made and amazing, I have a high standard for a bagel if I'm going to indulge in carbs. You should know they have a minimum purchase of 2 bagels and two cream cheese spreads. We got 2 plain bagels, a plain cream cheese and a strawberry cream cheese. They were amazing and met my high standards for a bagel AND cream cheese! Highly recommend you try to stuff yourself with both a burrito and bagel & cream cheese if you're coming here for the first time! It's worth it!! Plus the burritos are a good size, not extra large like were used to around here in the US ;-P Once you order, there is no pager or text. Not rubbery (which is the most common issue I find with other bagels). And warm. The cream cheese is house made and very special top quality ingredients. So amazing it's 6.30 am and I woke up too early and I'm getting ready to drive to another city to get my favorite breakfast burrito ever. It's so good I tried eating two once bc it's kinda "small" for your eyes. Your fat ass has been living in America too long sipping on your large coke. The burrito is perfect bc it fills you up and you don't feel bloated after and you feel amazing just like the burrito.
