Terrible. No service. We sat ourselves as the sign stated, and began looking at the menu. Two more families sat after us and were attended to right away. We were in our seats for 8 minutes and no one even took our drink order or asked if we had any questions. My daughter said hi to the waitress and she just walked by. This is my best breakfast place. It's much cheaper then IHOP or village inn. I walk out usually paying less then 25 dollars including a big tip for two people. I always get the cheese n eggs with jalapeños and gravy on my hashbrowns. I'm so happy with the amount of jalapeños and gravy! I love spicy and they are never shy with them! This is my first go to breakfast place. It's just so simple and so delicious with the chocolate milk, oj, sweet tea is so good and great coffee. The service is always great, sometimes I wait like 5 minutes on the weekend when it's busy. I'm always coming back and leaving so full and satisfied. read more

Been sitting here at breakfast bar directly in front of all wait staff for 10 minutes and not one of them has acknowledged us. I finally asked if there is a server for this area and one girl begrudgingly came over. The counter is filthy from last customer and we have to ask her to wipe it off. Well.... our visit started with a ten minute wait to be acknowledged, and it went downhill from there. I complained about being ignored. The nice manager apologized and asked us to stay as we were walking out. I wish we had left. Our food arrived quickly. The manager seemed eager to make up for being overlooked. But... I got a big, gross hair cooked into my eggs that I noticed when I was almost done. I felt like puking. I really don't understand how people rave about the waffles either. I just moved here from the northern part of the united states and we don't have waffle house up there so i was kind of excited to try it when my boyfriend and i came here.... it is disgusting and the service is awful. The waitress had to come back to our table and confirm something about our order 3 separate times, and the waitress didn't bring my drink until after we got our food. the waffle tasted really sour, like the batter was bad when it was made... with it being a WAFFLE house, you would think their waffles would be on point, but they were far from that. we will not be returning nor would i recommend someone to try it. read more

I know what most everyone thinks, Waffle House, really? But l just have to say waffles with warm syrup, mmm so good. And at 2am, even better. You can go to Lo-Lo's for a Waffle House rip off for twice the price and even more disappointing then you can imagine. But now you can have chocolate chip, blueberry, and always a favorite... pecan. Seriously I spent time trying to replicate this batter and it can be imitated but never duplicated. Plus generally, the service is excellent and friendly. The only thing that would make this better would be real butter! I took the whole family in, 8 people and we ate for under 60$. The kids loved sitting at the counter. You can order your waffle extra crispy, softer, etc. And their other breakfast items are great. They maybe one of the few diner's that can properly cook an egg to order. Probably cause it didn't sit on a plate under a heat lamp cooking further after it is done. Plus you know that your food is fresh. read more

When I write these reviews, I write more about the service and how I'm being treated. And I didn't appreciate how the waitress made it seems like it was my fault that I didn't eat my dried up grits. I have never experienced a time when the grits had no butter in it. That time was the first time. The butter was on the side which right away I didn't like. When I added the butter, it did not taste the same. When leaving, I packed up my food to-go but didn't pack the grits. Our waitress came over and asked if I was taking the grits. I said "No. They're too dry and I didn't like them." Now, this isn't about trying to get a free meal or anything, but if I was a waitress serving someone that was not satisfied with the food, I would offer take that off the bill. Maybe management won't allow her to do that, ect., but don't try to make it like you're not at fault by saying "Well, other people like to mix their eggs in it, or they're hash browns." What I take from that is "You missed out on dried grits that COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER IF YOU ONLY MIXED ALL KINDS OF DIFFERENT FOODS IN IT." That's not the point. When dining at Waffle House with My Parents, My Dad and I always share a bowl of grits. And he also didn't eat much of it because it was too dry. I was extremely mad at what she said. She could have done more to make it right, and one of them could have been to take the grits off the bill. It don't cost that much; it's not like I'd ask her to not charge us for our entire brunch. IT's Late @ Night & Your Hungry. With not too many options for a Full Service Restaurant here in Mesa, besides the Local Denny's or IHOP - This Place Rocks! I'm a Regular at this Restaurant because it's a Hip & a Hop from my house. We operate a 24 Hour Business so depending upon our Service Calls, we frequent this location at different times within the week. You would expect this place to run the best in the Mornings when they have 5 - 10 people working - Well It's Just The Opposite. The Night Shift Rocks with 2 - 3 People working & they are friendly, polite and the presentation when you receive your plate is "Picture Perfect." The other Day we went there for Breakfast with the Family. We were able to sit down almost immediately but from their the experience just went down hill. I counted 6 People Working & the restaurant was busy with most of the seats filled. The Gal didn't even said hi - she said "Do You know what you want or should I give you more time." I was shocked - No introduction but just going through the motions. Ordered finally & the food was burnt, with Grille griddle specs all over our sandwiches. Our Eggs were not the way we ordered & they forgot my daughters Waffle - With All those People Working- I was expecting better Quality & Service. At the Waffle House on Country Club, you can feel the energy / connection employees have with one another by smiling, joking and making the customers feel at home - not here at McKellips The employees seemed like they hated their job with no interaction between another, no laughs, giggles, trying to make the best of it. The manager was complaining about how she was having trouble making the schedule. The Night Shift is So Different here. THE MORNING CREW NEEDS TO TAKE TRAINING LESSONS HERE - THE NIGH CREW ROCKS - THEY GET IT RIGHT & THEY MAKE THE CUSTOMER FEEL APPRECIATED. Rachel & the others are always having a blast and are always smiling upbeat, helpful & they act as if they care. Rachel remembers that I always order water & has it ready for me before I even sit down. The other night there was a Cook who was there since 9am and he was still smiling, helpful, and Courteous after 15 Hours on the Job. I was shocked when I heard him say that he had to work until 7am and had to be back for his regular shift by 2pm - That's less than 7 Hours Sleep - Is That Legal? I'm rating this a 5 because the night crew makes up for the short-comings of the morning crew. I'm shocked on the differences between Day Crew and Night Crew. I think they should Swap the Day Crew with the Night Crew - Let's See if the New Night Crew Could maintain the High Level of Service as the Rachel & her team does. I normally love Waffle House and this location but today was not good service at all . It took about 20 minutes for us to get seated and yes I know it was a busy time but there was a girl just standing not doing anything when she could have been clearing tables . My order was wrong twice and my friend ordered two waffles which took forever to come out . Thank god for Shawna ! She realized our orders were wrong or took too long and fixed it immediately . Well, I am absolutely done with this location and I am not particularly motivated to write a negative review; however, and in a nutshell, the location's staff is mostly younger high school aged workers who are supervised by an older person whom appears not to provide sound training. Everyone is respectful; however, if this restaurant happens to get slammed, your value as a single customer rapidly gets thrown out of the window. They do not respect loyalty nor those who pay the bills during the season when things are hot and dead out here! The food is nothing to write to anyone else about and is below average with other chains in the same family of stores, both in this area, the south, and the Midwestern states that I have personally visited during my lifetime. I won't be returning to this location at all. I had given this location at least 6 to 7 chances, as it is so close to my home. Sunday, I was taken back with the uncaring attitude that I perceived was demonstrated by the hostess and manager the morning of my arrival. I may be dining alone; however, my value is reduced as a single diner and larger tables are reserved for two or more people. Sounds reasonable, correct? Well, when they are scraping by to find customers during the "off season" when many have gone back to their home bases, there is never a problem with seating at that time. I suggest that it won't inconvenience many with someone who sits alone in a space just to really relinquish this space in the next 10 minutes any way. But, when every visitor to the area returns to their lives in other states, how much business can be lost by shunning or pushing your regular income customers to the outskirts for those 5 months or so; especially, when they do not return ever again? In some ways I understand; however, it is the way with which the people in this store, have conducted such business with regulars, that is crucial to my understanding of this issue. I was treated very poorly, and shoved to the side, so to speak, because they could not manage their breakfast time patrons adequately. It is not my fault as I was there for both a meal and I was exceedingly patient, as well. So, if this is the way in which a regular, solid patron is treated when things are going well for the business (high season with all of the visitors), what then will they do during the slow/hot season when regulars like myself who sustain these businesses, do not return to eat in their establishments? read more

the food is good but it's always so dirty and the service is never good. there is flies in the building and the silverware is dirty. i still go there all the time to eat, but the tables and floor are always sticky and the waiters have like no emotion when then talk to you; they are rude and never check up on you. Good comfort food, 24/7/365 is what this place has going for it. The $1 menu is a big plus, and beats the fast food chain versions of similar items that come microwaved & rubbery. The service here can be really bad, and there are a lot of flies in the dining area. I would come to this place more often if the staff were just more respectful. When I get an item off the $1 menu, even if I tip more than 20% I get treated in a way I feel is just rude. I have been getting some pretty obvious mistakes made on my orders too, like ordering a cheeseburger that comes out with no cheese on it, and then when I ask for cheese on my cheeseburger I have to explain what seems to me to be too simple to not understand to anyone who would actually care at all. I like the chili here too, especially on the $1 cheeseburger for 45 cents extra. Biscuits, & gravy are a little bland, but could be worse. They have the basket's of sauces available for good reason, a lot of times the food needs some real flavor. I bring a shaker of ghost peppers too that helps. read more

On Sunday, August 6, 2017, my son and I stopped here to have breakfast, since it had been a very long time (years) since we'd eaten at one. We sat at a booth where you could see and hear everything that went on at the cooking station. It was very UNappetizing, as there were broken eggs laying on the floor that had been there for some time (shells, crusty, dried up); one cook was not very civil to the lone male cook (rudely telling him how to cook something); constant noise among the help; and just overall a very disturbing atmosphere. Orders were not being done correctly (I asked for sausage and got bacon), as we observed several mistakes they had to cook over for other patrons, including scraping some hash browns off the sidebar onto a customer's plate!. In summation, we will NOT be patronizing a Waffle House in the near (or distant) future! I prefer a restaurant that will pass the health food laws! This one appeared to not come close. Sorry Waffle House Mesa, but you need to clean up your act! I'm giving you 1 star, because I didn't see an option to leave NO stars! read more
