Whenever you review a chain you have to do so on the merits of the already held assumptions of the public- the menu, the prices, the service model. These things are set. What remains are three simple things: the courtesy of the staff, the efficiency of the order process and the quality of the food delivered. I've eaten at this Waffle House 4-5 times. Each time, the staff had been kind, responsive and warm. The order has always been handled almost instantly. But most importantly, the food comes hot, not lukewarm. As I say, the options, ambiance, food choices and chef skill aren't part of the experience at a chain like this. We just left this place after NOT eating! Why? We waited 5 minutes to get seat, no problem. However, another couple sat down right next to us at the bar 5 minutes after us. They received drinks and were able to order their food right away. The waitress walked right by us. We sat another 15 minutes before she came to take our order. Then, the people next to us got their food. We finally got drinks and silverware. The people next to us are now halfway through their breakfast. Our order isn't even on the grill yet. Waitress kept saying "I'm so sorry " Well after being there for a full 50 minutes waiting we paid for our drinks and left. Ridiculous. I like waffle House but this particular location always screws up my order and I don't order anything complicated. I usually order over medium eggs, hash browns and wheat toast and that's it. My eggs are never over medium, always over easy.. where the white looks like snot.. over medium cooked properly should still have a runny yolk while the whites are fully cooked. Grossed me out. My two pieces of toast, cut in 4's only contained butter on three of the four pieces. It's a simple order! I've been here many times over the years and the service and food is pretty consistent over all that time. I usually get the steak and eggs with toast and water. The total comes to about $12 before tip. The steak is very thin, but tasty. Its actually better than you'd expect for a low-priced food place. I don't care for all the upsells when she took my order but that is always accounted for when I leave a tip. More upsells = less tip. Luckily, she was not rude with the upsells. The booth and table were clean, the floors were clean too. The menu is weird, oddly designed. Some of the pictures are too low res to know what some of their food is. Their online menu does not match the one at this location. Their All-Star Breakfast item has a gooey looking white substance in the photo on their menu, but no explanation of what that is, but it looks like a pile of mashed potatoes. I wish their menu had printed text and pictures, not just low-res photos of food. It is unclear what items are included with any meal and what items in the photo cost extra. Will I go back? Probably, yes. You should look at the menu online before you go there, the online one does not have prices. Plan on spending about $10 per person for breakfast. read more

Came early on a Saturday morning and beat the crowd. By the time we left, there was a huge crowd of people and a line. The food was good. Ordered a waffle, of course. The service was quick. The only issue, which is typical of all Waffle House restaurants I've been to across the country, was the bathroom. I don't know what it is about bathrooms at Waffle House, but they always seem to be dirty and in need of cleaning. At least this one had a decent supply of toilet paper. read more

As always the food is what you come here for. Not so much the service. The place was clean but the staff was very rude. Didn't say hello to us for quite sometime we just waited there. They then said "just sit wherever" so we took a seat to wait for maybe 10 mins just to get a drink. The staff then proceeded to fight with eachother while we waited. The food was good as usual. But they forgot 2 things we ordered. I could understand if maybe it was busy although even then fighting with eachother and being rude isn't the way to go. Waffles are really small here for being a Waffle House. Also put way to many chocolate chips on waffle. There was so many In the middle I didn't want to finish it Workers were doing whatever they wanted not very good with costumer service. Very time I tried to ask for my check the lady just kept walking by without checking on us which I made it clear I wanted her attention. Waffle House is always there for me when it's 3 am and I need to eat. The food is good, the people are friendly (aside from one young waitress I encountered on my last visit). The price can get a bit expensive for what the food is, but if it's 3 am I'm willing to pay more since it's so late. If it was day time though, I probs wouldn't eat here. I have always had a good experience at Waffle House. And most times, you know what to expect when it comes to service. Today's experience was... interesting to say the least. Our server was Ashly, and she honestly seemed to be the only one who cared about customers. It seemed to be an after-church Sunday rush. A lot of tables weren't bussed, and most of the customers, including us, had to wipe down their own tables. Whatever. It's busy and they seemed a little understaffed. The couple next to us got there shortly after us, and they had a different server whose name was Sierra. We ordered and got our food before their orders were taken, and our server, Ashly, kept asking her coworkers who was supposed to be covering which sections since there were multiple people that had been sitting for a while and hadn't been served. Ashly was great. She was very sweet and apologetic about the circumstances, and I honestly felt bad because it seemed that everyone else was patronizing her for caring. Sierra, on the other hand, was the complete opposite. While she wasn't our server, she was completely apathetic about everything. She messed up the order of the couple next to us and didn't even apologize to them. She said, "I didn't hear you say that at all," with no eye contact, no apology, and frankly just a piss poor attitude. When it came time for us to pay, the cook asked Sierra to help us, and she didn't say anything, just glared at him, and told us our total. No have a nice day, nothing. Bottom line: Ashly rocked, and she deserves to work somewhere else where her care for the customers will be appreciated and not patronized. It's Waffle House! You know what to expect. Service here was fast. Food was exactly what you'd expect. I came after a Sunday rush and the waffle makers were surprisingly clean around them. This tells me they do clean up as they go. I've been here a few times and had a different brand new cook for 3 of my visits. Other than looking totally overwhelmed they all clef well and handled the stress well. It's evident that everyone works well together here which is key to good service in a busy diner. 4stars because it's Waffle House not a steakhouse. I was very disappointed in this. I have been in Arizona for 4 years now and had never been to Waffle House for whatever reason. Everyone around me hyped it up so much that I think I had high expectations. The food was nothing special - not much flavor and not many options. The one cool thing is they cook it pretty much in front of us which is cool and a good concept but it also allowed us to see who was wiping there gloves on their aprons and who wasn't. At one point, someone who had gloves on wiped them on their apron and then grabbed a waffle out of the iron and put it on the plate. Overall it was a whatever experience. Nothing special. I'd like to thank our server, Krisslynn whose name I hope I've spelled accurately. My wife and I were there the other night to eat dinner. She was so sweet and helpful. We had a local newspaper's coupon and though my wife's dinner would have been twenty-cents extra, she allowed it under the $6.00 price off your second meal. Krisslynn was very patient in explaining what a "basted egg" was to my wife. My wife loved it most importantly. That was her meal choice. Waffle House on Country Club Dr. in Mesa (85210) I walked into Waffle House and stood at the front counter. Instead of being greeted, Christi said to me "Is there something I can help you with?" I've never had someone speak to me this way, 5 seconds after walking into a restaurant. After Christi took my order, she continued her conversation with the two men sitting at the front counter and I stood against the wall. Moments later, she said in a loud voice, "Ok so this is how we're going to do this", then she yelled out "$10.04". I looked up from my cell phone and realized she was speaking to me. Instead of politely letting me know my order was ready, she spoke indirectly. I've never encountered such ignorance and lack of professionalism. I honestly thought this was going to be a simple, quick and pleasant stop. I had just finished working 12 hours at the Tucson border, made the long drive to Mesa then stopped for food. Food was fresh, tasty and we could see the cook making our order. Laquiria was our server and she was wonderful. Soft spoken, smiling, courteous and made sure our order was correct. I handed her a generous tip as we were leaving and I truly hope that she was able to keep it. I am rating 3 stars for two reasons: 1.) Cleanliness-or rather the lack of. The floor was a mess, the window next to our booth had something smeared all over it. I could see that the food prep area was neat and clean or I would have left before ordering. 2.) Apparently it had been a difficult day due to employees calling out and someone quitting earlier in the day. While we are sympathetic to such situations, the remaining employees were discussing all of this pretty close to where we were sitting, as they were all at "their counter" - apparently the counter they eat at, etc. We simply did not appreciate them airing all their business as we were eating our meal and felt they could have waited until our table and the one next to us cleared, or they could have stepped away to the other end of the counter area. The service at this location is always horrible. The food is ok but they always screw it up by either forgetting the toast or the bacon or when we ask for raw onions we get cooked onions. Never give refills and last night we had our food 15 min before we even got our drinks in the first place. My husband had to say Uh can we get our drinks over here or what? The waitress was too busy talking on the phone. From what I could tell she was past she shift cuz someone didn't show up. How is this MY problem?
